... He was hot. Too hot. Even the glow of the jungle was too brought for the little Wind youngling's eyes as he sweated and gasped. He hurt and didn't hurt- he didn't even feel the wound on his arm anymore. He knew it should have healed. He knew he had done everything right, like the old healer had taught him back home.
So why did it hurt? Why did he hurt all over? Why was he shaking? He felt miserable and sick and tired. He buried himself in his Capramel's thick neck, snuggling close as if that would stop the fever, the misery, the shaking, the delirious confusion and fear. He breathed in the comforting smell of the animal who had been his faithful companion as long as he could remember.
He could remember Sauti. But he wasn't in Sauti. He was in a hot, damp place.
Through the heat and the fever he couldn't remember where he was or why.

La'amu just kept going. Her not-calf was sick and she needed to take care of him. But four-foot cannot take care of two-feets like another Two-foot could and for all her love Nuawahn was not a four-foot. He was still her baby, and she would find someone to make him better, if she had to ram them against a tree and bellow in their faces until they did whatever they did.
She did not like this warm, damp, wet, glowing jungle. But she was a creature of treacherous Sauti. She could survive this land, as she had survived other lands.
She chuffed at the rich air. Didn't mean she liked it.
She had told him that that bite was bad. Who knew what these colorful beasts could do? La'ammu knew poison. One of her calfs had died of it. But Nuawahn hadn't listened- he often didn't- and now he was very sick. She would not let another calf die to it. She would find him help. There had to be two-legs here in this forsaken leafland. Two-legs were everywhere, annoying creatures that they were.
Suddenly she snuffled at the air. A scent? Yes! It was a two-leg!
"BAAAAUUUUHHHH!!!" She brayed loudly and moved quickly in their direction, clambering over the rocks and roots of Jahuar like the steep stones of her homeland.

The shifter had been making his way back home to Tale, weary from his encounters with the alkidikes as well the stress from traveling everywhere. Though even as he looked over his shoulder to look at the diminishing tree home he couldn't quite bring himself to go home just yet. The shifter needed a moment to recollect his thoughts and taking the long way home seemed the best idea.

Shouldering his pack his book cradled in his other arm he suddenly found himself on the alert, though he normally was to be found in the tree's at the moment he was on the forest floor and now he was wondering how smart it was doing that. A sigh escaped his lips as he quickly went to climb the nearest tree, after all whatever it was that was crashing in his direction hardly sounded like any humanoid.

Perching up from where he was sitting of course he was surprised to discover a creature that was out of its element. Takoda scaled seeing such creatures in Sauti so what was it doing here? Of course he almost did a double take when he spotting a figure laying rather limp on its back. The now monk could tell right away that the boy was sick wavering perhaps on consciousness and if this capramel continued to go through the forest I. This manner it was going to get itself and the boy eaten. Carefully he made his way back down to the forest floor making clicking sounds with his tongue to try and not frighten the creature and cause it to bolt.

"It's okay, I won't hurt you or the boy...I can help him." Takoda stated I a soft tone.

Clicking? Why was there clicking? Nuawahn was so confused. He just wanted to bury his face in Amma's fur because maybe it would make his head and eyes and everything stop hurting. It didn't. He wasn't close enough. It was hot, so hot, inside and out and breathing hurt but he had to because it was breathing. He wasn't sure if he was waking or sleeping now. He was just... here.

La'amu trotted to a halt, standing defensively and watching the two-legger warily. Yes he was a two legger. That was good. But why was he in a tree? Trees were unsafe. She took an uncertain step back, then moved her hoof back. "Pff. Chff."
She chuffed at Takoda, incredulous. He was a very odd color. Did she want an odd color near her notcalf? She wasn't afraid. She had horns and hooves and was big and bulky. As he approached, very nonthreateningly (she wasn't so happy about the clicking) she cautiously sniffed at him, shifting a little.
"Baaauh?" it was almost a question. "Chff. CHFF." She stood her ground, letting him closer. He wasn't holding anything sharp, and he didn't seem like a threat.
"Chff." she let him get very close, close enough to touch her notcalf, though she craned her head to watch him cautiously. He had better help him.

Nuawahn mumbled something at the sounds beneath him. He probably didn't even know what he said.

Takoda inched closer he didn't want to startle the creature but he needed to get closer and that meant that moving slowly.

"Its okay, I won't hurt him," Allowing the animal to sniff his hand as he reached out to lightly touch the moaning boy beneath him. He knew he would need to get the boy off of La'amu if he wanted to treat him properly. "Its okay I am going to help him..but I need him off your back." He murmured though he would try rolling the boy over first.

Gently he placed his book onto the ground before he used both his hands to roll the boy over. Constantly repeating 'its okay' to both the boy and the animal he was unconscious on. Taking a deep breath he put a hand to the boy's forehead testing for fever which..he discovered was rather high. Raising one hand he summoned little balls of water onto the tips of his fingers. Moving them onto the boy's forehead he was using it to reduce the boy's fever.

L'amu was suspicious, but she was also slightly desperate and this twoleg was showing her respect. She didn't really understand what he was saying, but he was moving Nuawahn and perhaps he needed to have Nuawahn on the ground to help him?
But he was safe on her back, where she could carry him wherever she needed to go, where she wouldn't worry about where the little twoleg notcalf had gotten to. Or into.
The older Twoleg talked softly and respectfully and could bring water to his fingertips. Maybe she should trust him.
"Chff." L'amu bent her forelegs a little bit, lowering herself like she did when she let Nuawahn off. Those times, he could get off on his own. Now, he couldn't.
He would be as safe on the ground as on her back. She still had hooves and horns and could bite, too, if it came to it.
"Chff." she snorted imperiously at the Shifter. Well, get on with helping her notcalf already. She was trusting him to do whatever twolegs did to help other twolegs, and he had better do it.

Nuawahn was vaguely aware that he was being handled. The hands felt cool on his skin, and he didn't want them to go away. Then the coolness grew cooler and wetter on his forehead and the headache went away. Floating in between conciousness was no longer pounding and painful. He mumbled again. He didn't want the coolness to go away and he was monstrously thirsty. But everything was all so confusing... he wasn't quite aware of it.

When L'amu knelt down he took it as a que that he could slip the little blonde boy off her back. Rolling him over in his arms he noticed the strange crystals on his chin and he figured that that the boy was probably from Sauti. Moving to sit cross legged her held the boy in his arms, using one to prop up his patient while the other trailed magical water along the boy's forehead to reduce his fever and then down to his chest to see if he could figure what was wrong with him. The boy seemed awfully ill, and he pondered if it was because of the curse. But..he had broken it, the leaf tribe man had said he had.

All he could do was worry and test his magical prowress against the boy's ailments. Much time passed as he patiently worked his magic to rouse the boy. Finally half asleep himself from the exhausting magical work Takoda felt his own head nodding and he was forced to cover his mouth in a yawn. Hoping the boy would awake soon and he could then ask him many questions. Like what he was doing so far from home...if that was the case, and more importantly why he was alone with no adults to help him.

La'amu watched the man, but she was satisfied that he was helping her notcalf, and decided to finish kneeling and rest. The jungle's soil was squishy and hell on her hooves and she was glad to not be walking in it any more.
Nuawahn felt an odd sensation as Takoda chased the poison through his system, something indescribably cleansing. At first, confused, and still half-concious, he resisted. But it brought with it a coolness that cleared his head enough for him to relax and to fall into sleep as the Monk worked. Nightmares, brought on by the poison, tried to haunt him, but it was washed away too quickly to intrude on the healing rest.
The coolness dissipated, but the hot pain of before did not return. Only the jungles heat remained. Even the headache was gone, save for a mild one. He was tired. But hadn't he just woken up? Why was he tired? What had happened?
He opened his eyes, hoping to find some clues there. What he saw was darkened blueness and lushness that was both familiar and unfamiliar.
"Where am I" he asked, not seeing Takoda at first until he glimpsed the highly contrasted skin of the shifter. He tried to sit up to get a better look, but his muscles protested. They had just been through hell and had just properly started to repair, and they made sure he knew it with soreness, stiffness, and pain. He didn't push it, just turning his head and squinting in the darkness of Jahuar's understory to look at Takoda.
"Who are you?"

La'amu raised her head and huffed approvingly, but she held back, watching. Standing up was effort, after all. And she was comfortable.

Takoda had been jerked away when he head words spoken. He had been half asleep himself when the young boy in his lap and arms awoke. Blinking he looked down at the youth and offered a small smile. Rather than answer his question right away Takoda went to place a hand on his forehead again as if making sure that he fever hadn't returned.

"How are you feeling? I found you with your companion here unconscious. What happened?" He inquired softly as he went to prop the boy into a sitting position. Slipping him off his lap carefully so he would be able to move if needed. "You are in the forest of Jahaur, I am Takoda. Are you thirsty?" The monk asked the boy a he went to stand slowly his legs protesting at having been stuck in a folded position for so long.

Moving he propped the boy up against the tree he had been leaning on moments before. Then he went to pluck a large leaf from a bush before heading back. Twisting it into a tight cylindrical cone and then summoning water from his fingers to pour into the make shift cup. Kneeling down he offered the boy the water.

"You are far from home judging by your skin tone...what's your name little one?"

"Nuawahn"
When he had woken up, he had felt normal, if tired. But after a few seconds, all the discomforts started to make themselves known. The boy swallowed on a dry and icky-tasting throat that felt almost fuzzy before accepting the water. He sipped down the cool relief, coughing a moment as he drank too fast before finishing it off.
"Hi Takoda..." he said, his throat a bit raw even as he tried to be his usual, friendly, cheerful sel. It just wasn't coming. He was exhausted. His head hurt, less than before, but more than he would like. "Hi Amma..."he said, reaching futilely for his Capramel. He decided to stay lying down, taking another swallow of the water.
How was he? He tried to think about that.
"I'm really achey... And sleepy... An' I feel all dry an' my head hurts and is all foggy..." he rubbed at his dry eyes, trying to think through his sluggish thoughts.
'Jahuar' sounded familiar, but he couldn't find the memory.
"Where is Jahuar?" he asked, trying to put things together.

Where was Jahaur? Ita was kinda hard to describe a place when one wasn't sure where the little boy had come from, even if the monk had his suspicions. Still he couldn't help but place his hand once more on the boys forehead, almost an compulsive obsession to make sure the fever hadn't returned.

"Jahaur is near the coast, you have to cross Tale to get here." Takoda murmured finding there was no fever the boy must of been dehydrated and perhaps malnourished. Contemplating the nutritious fruits in the canopy above he wasn't sure if he felt comfortable leaving the weak boy on the forest floor. Perhaps he could find some roots instead.

"Looks like you've been sick for awhile...would explain your foggyness. If you give me a few minutes I will try and find something for you to eat." The shifter explained as he went to stand up. Looking about he knew all the plants in the immediate area, and none of the really would help the boy at this point. Fruit it was then.

Moving over to a tree he scaled it quickly, hurrying as he didn't want to leave Nuawahn alone for long. It was only a couple of minutes before he returned a couple ripe fruits in hand. Kneeling he took out a small dagger and began the process of cutting the fruit up into more manage chunks before handing the to the boy.

"They may be a bit bitter, but these fruits are rich in vitamins so its best if you try and eat as much as you can." He explained.

Oh. That was where Jahuar was. Nuawahn let that sink in for a moment.
"Okay" he said, lying back down for a bit as the shifter stood up to find him something to eat. Nuawahn didn't feel hungry, but he was a trusting person- if the nice black person said that he needed food, then he would believe him. Adults didn't lie.
No, that wasn't true: they did lie, like everybody else. Just not about important things. And there was nothing wrong with lying, sometimes. It made things interesting. Nuawahn knew there were lies that hurt, and lies that didn't hurt, and many people used the not-hurting lies. He did too!
He knew this. Even if Takoda was somehow lying to him about being hungry or whatever the other word was, did it matter? Food was good, and besides how can you lie about something that only another person would know...
Nuawahn blinked. His mind was everywhere.
He rubbed his forehead.
If Jahuar was at the coast and was near the Tale, that meant it wsn't Zena. Zena was cold, and this place was hot. The Tale was next to Sauti, so he was on the other side of the world from Zena because you can't have a cold place next to a hot place. That was just silly.
He sat back up as Takoda returned, momentarily dizzy.
But oh, that whatever-he-had smelled yummy. Sweet, but maybe not too sweet.
"Whats a vitamin?" he asked, taking the piece of fruit from Takoda and eating it experimentally. It was sweet, but the moment it hit his tongue he suddenly realized he wanted yummy sweet things and cool liquid. He ate the fruit piece, and another. A little spark of realization managed to find its way through the fog.
"Does that mean its good for you?"

Takoda watched in silence and waited, after all it wasn't everyday he found a youngling by himself suffering from an illness. He was glad his magic had helped the young boy and was even happier to see that his appetite was perking up. Looking about he felt a small fear rise in him, after all there were all sorts of dangerous things in the forest...perhaps he should get him into the trees? Or...better yet take him to Tale?

The monk was distracted however when the boy was speaking, it took him a moment to register what was said and then he gave a extra firm nod of his head.

"Yes that is right, it is very good for you." He offered the praise as he went to stand up slowly. Cautiously, after all they had remained in one spot way too long. "How...are you feeling? We should get moving , its dangerous to stay in one spot too long in the forest. I should take you to Tale...its safer there. Do you think you can walk? Or perhaps your..companion can carry you?"

Nuawahn wanted another piece and another and another. He didn't care that it was sweet and bitter and tasted odd, he just wanted the coolness and the taste on his tongue. He wanted it so badly. He didn't know if he had had anything lately. He didn't even know if he was actually hungry. He just wanted to eat the thing that the nice person had said was good for him.
He looked up at Takoda, puzzled. Well, okay. Staying in one place was bad. They moved around all the time in Sauti. But dangerous?
Well, if mister Takoda said so, then Nuawahn was going to believe him.
"I don't know..." he said, frowning at his legs. He hadn't tried yet. He started to get up, but he felt his head start to spin and his legs start to shake like they were made of jelly. He held onto a tree for support, surprised. Legs were not supposed to feel like that, though he supposed it was because he was tired. Or had been lying down a lot?
"...Maybe not."
Which left La'amu.
He looked at the Capramel

... who looked right back. She was comfortable, but instinct and experience with the wind tribe told her that it was time to move, and probably a long walk at that. She grumbled, getting to her feet and taking her time about it.
She had been comfortable and she had carried her earthling for who knew how long over mushy mucky ground.
She was not a happy capramel

"...I think Amma is tired..." said Nuawahn, leaning against the tree.
PostPosted: Thu Jun 27, 2013 9:41 am

Takoda watched as the boy's legs shook rather hard at his attempt to stand up, a small sad smile on his face as he should of realized that the boy would need a lot more time to recover from his illness before walking long distance's were going to happen. Looking to the capramel who seemed equally annoyed at the idea of traveling more with a boy on its back Takoda came to the conclusion he would need to carry him for it.

"Yes she's been a very loyal companion to you, how about we give her a break and I will carry you?" The monk offered in his soft voice, moving to put some of the extra pieces of fruit down on a small outcropping of stone before kneeling with his back towards Nu.

"Try if your able to climb up onto my back, I'll carry you piggy back style to the edge of the forest." Though he wasn't exactly sure what to do with him after that. He couldn't just leave the child out by himself...that was a terrible idea, he hoped to glean more information from him though as they walked.

He wouldn't have to ride Amma when she was tired? That was good. She made funny noises when she was tired, but they weren't happy noises, so Nuawahn would rather keep her happy.
He also liked piggyback rides, and he did want to go with the man.
"Okay" he said, trying to hobble forward enough to secure himself. The effort sent what felt like a wind of exhaustion through his body, draining him of strength. He wrapped his arms loosely around Takoda's shoulders and tried to make his legs wrap around too, like they were supposed to, to mixed results.
"Okay" he said, briefly lightheaded.
His head might be fuzzy, but he knew that adults were not obligated to pick you up and carry you everywhere. Not even when you smiled and looked at them in the special way that melted even the angriest faces into a smile. Adults had packs they had to carry, and if you were tired you had to walk or find a capramel to ride because sometimes they just couldn't carry you. If they did, it was very nice of them, and you were supposed to thank them.
Nuawahn knew that Takoda was very very nice to be doing this, and giving him water, and the fruit.
"Thank you..." he said, his head resting on Takoda's shoulder.
