Leto pawed lightly at a rock has she padded along, not really headed in any particular destination. Well, that was not entirely true. Her destination was a place unknown, a place she hadn't seen or explored yet. And that was quite a lot of places at the current moment in time. She had never known anything else beyond the Amazon borders, and her curiosity had finally managed to get the better of her. Leto wanted to see things she had only heard of in stories, like rolling deserts filled of sand and a lake called an "ocean" that was so big it stretched on for as far as the eye could see! A helpful lioness had pointed her in the general direction of the coast, but Leto wasn't in any hurry. The lioness wanted to save the sight of the ocean for last before returning home. After all, there were still so many other things she could discover!
Like males. Those had been quite the oddity. The mothers of the pride had been adamant about never getting to close to one, never trusting them. But Leto had never fully understood why. And now, after meeting quite a few kind, well-mannered males, she was very confused. They hadn't seemed that bad at all. In fact, Leto had gotten along quite swimmingly with one of them. Perhaps males had changed in the time since the Amazon's founding. Or maybe the mothers had just bought into what tradition called for, instead of actually venturing out to find their own answers.
That was a disturbing thought, one that made her claws pop out a little. Leto valued knowledge above all else. To blindly accept something without seeking out the facts was just so...intolerant.
Leto shook the negative thoughts from her brain, continuing down her aimless path.

Hila hummed to himself as he slunk through the open savanna. It was a pretty good day today to go for a stroll. He was used to the life of a rouge and, although he had tried pridal life, decided that the best place for him was out here. Being in one place for too long got to him, and he loved meeting new girls to tease. Seeing the same ones over and over got a bit old. His ragged ears also sang the tune of all the mates of the females he had winked one too many times at that had gotten very tired of him.

But now that pride had disbanned and he was on his own again, as it should be. A bachelor eternal couldn't be held down for too long, anyway! Walking with his head high, Hila sniffed the air to see if he could spot any friendly faces. Lo and behold, a faint scent of female drifted towards him from off to his right. He turned and spotted her, not too far off. Oh, what a pretty thing she was! All alone with no one to talk to...he could fix that in a jiff.

Trotting over, Hila put on his most winning smile. It was always important to make a good first impression after all. "Good afternoon, my dear," he said as he got close enough for her to hear. "And what is a pretty thing like you doing all alone out here?"

No worries! It gave me some to get her RP count up. xD

Leto's scout training kicked in at the sound of approaching pawsteps. The female tensed a little without meaning to, instincts making the claws pop out of her sheaths. The female turned with an eyebrow raised, inspecting the approaching stranger. It was a cheetah, male judging by the size, padding towards her with a smile on his face. He seemed friendly enough. He wasn't coming towards her in a threatening manner at least. It was a good thing she had been trained in the ways of judging whether or not people were threats. It had certainly come in handy in her rogue wanderings. As the cheetah called out in greeting, Leto's suspicions were confirmed.
The lioness turned to face the stranger more, pulling her claws back into her paws. She didn't think she would be needing them. And if she did, well, they were always a quick muscle contraction away. No need to cause unnecessary trouble be having them out. "Good afternoon, sir." Leto called back. She waited for the male to come closer before responding further. She hated raising her voice. Leto gave the cheetah a smile once he was closer. "I could ask you the same question, now couldn't I?" The female teased. "I'm out on a bit of exploration myself, though. Sight-seeing."

Hila chuckled quietly as the lioness questioned him in the same manner. "Touche, touche, my dear," he said with a grin, a little bit of the odd language he learned in his old pride coming through. "You certainly could. I'm roaming the rouge lands once again. Tried a little stint in a pride, but I guess my charm was too much for them and it disbanded."

In truth, that wasn't the case, but she certainly didn't need to know that. "I'm called Hila," he added, bowing elegantly towards the pretty female. "And what is your name, my dear? Oh no no...let me guess."

He lifted his head, golden eyes moving over her body to take in her markings, the way she held herself, how there were light claw marks in the ground...

"Surely your name is Bloedblom," he finally murmured, golden eyes returning to the lioness' face. A beautiful but incredibly poisonous flower, and a name he found very suitable for the female. She was strong, that much was obvious from her muscled body and the claw marks on the ground. But she was also very sweet and beautiful, luring in any who had a false sense of security. "The most beautiful of creations on this earth are quite generally the most dangerous. Without a good defense, surely that beauty would be stolen and hidden from the rest of the world by some gluttonous fiend."

Leto giggled slightly. Who knew males could be so flattering? This Hila definitely knew how to make most girls' ears heat up. Of course, Leto was not most girls. She gave Hila a small smile, one of her eyebrows raised playfully. "Not quite my name, Hila, but close. You can call me Leto." The lioness dipped her head in greeting. "And I can certainly see why your charm would cause an issue." Leto agreed, faking seriousness. "I do believe most females would faint at the mere mention of your name. It wouldn't make for a very efficient pride at all." Leto entertained the thought of Hila trying to flirt with one of the Amazon scouts on the borders. The poor cheetah would have had his ears shredded and his whiskers ripped off! The lioness laughed to herself at the image.
"I happen to be taking a break from a pride myself. Out exploring a bit of the world." And what a fruitful exploration it was turning out to be. After all, Leto wouldn't have been able to meet any guys if she had stayed with the Amazons. And think of all the information she could bring back to them! If she ever decided to go back, that.

Hila grinned just a bit and gave her a little wink. "Leto. An equally beautiful name," he said, bobbing his own head as well. "I see we're in similar situations, then. Taking a break from the pride life. Although," he said as he sauntered a bit closer. "I doubt I'll return to one. The life of a rouge is the life for me."

He tilted his head just a bit before moving in even closer, lowering his voice, eyes lidded just a bit. "Perhaps you'd enjoy a bit of company? We could explore this area together. And might I ask what pride it is that you're taking a break from?" He loved learning about others, especially females, and hearing their life stories.

Leto considered the cheetah's offer. It would be nice to have someone to talk to. And Hila seemed friendly enough. It could be fun. "A little company would be nice, actually. The more the merrier, as they say." The lioness accepted his offer with a smile, starting off in a random direction and gesturing for Hila to follow.
Her pride, her pride. Where to begin? After hearing about other prides from those she had met, Leto knew that the Amazons were fairly different from most prides. She had found out the complete lack of males, while normal to her, was not a normal thing at all. "I hail from the Antianeira, situated in a forest far from here. It is also known by the name of the Amazons." Well, the second name more referred to the members within the pride, but Leto had always heard it used to refer to the pride itself, and was actually coming to find that "Amazon" was more frequently used than the true name.

Hila's ears perked up at the name of the pride. Ah...that would explain her physical stature then, and why she seemed so comfortable in a completely unfamiliar place. They didn't raise normal females there, and while he had heard of the Amazons, he had never met one himself. This one would certainly be an enjoyable challenge.

"The Amazons...yes, I've heard of them. Strong females that don't particularly like males. Which leads to my next question...why haven't you tried to disembowel me yet?" he asked, only half joking. He flicked his ears forward as he smiled, tail flicking in interest. "Is it true that you only welcome males into your pride for a short amount of time to mate? Or that you slaughter male cubs on sight?"

There were some horrible stories that came from the pride, and he highly doubted some of them were accurate. But now he had a wellspring of information and boy, was he going to learn all about these strong, sexy females. There was little more attractive to him than a girl that could fight for herself. It made his job of wooing and laying with them much harder.

Slaughtering male cubs? Goodness! The Amazons really had that sort of reputation? How awful. "No, my goodness. I had a brother, you know. I don't remember much of him, but I remember he was there, at the beginning." She frowned. Leto couldn't seem to bring forth the image of her brother in her mind. All of her memories as a cub were just hazes of black, white, and purple at this point. "Once they're old enough to eat meat, the fathers are contacted to come and take the male cubs with them. And if the fathers can't be found, we find someone outside the pride who can take care of them." She explained. Leto had always wondered what happened to her brother. She knew that he had went with her biological father, but beyond that...it was part of her motivation to get out and explore. Which brought forward another thought. Most of the Amazons must have brothers as well. Surely they didn't think of them as evil? "Though it is true that males aren't much welcome within the borders. According to the legends, males once ruled the pride in a cruel and oppressive way. Which led to the founding mothers to ban all males, teaching their daughters that all males were evil and cruel." An understandable prejudice, she supposed. "However my own mother said that my father was quite nice and polite. And many of the younger females don't bear the same prejudice against males. Part of my leaving was to find out the truth." She glanced at Hila beside her and smirked. "And I think I've found out quite a lot so far."

Hila listened to the words of the Amazon and nodded, showing he understood. He had heard wild tales about many of the prides, of course, but that didn't mean he believed them all. The Amazon pride was shrouded in mystery, though, so it was nice to hear from first-hand accounts what happened there.

"Well, that's a relief," he said with a little laugh. "And I'm glad that you've found us males to be a bit nicer than you expected. At least, I do hope that we've been holding up to and exceeding your expectations." He gave a little wink before taking a seat, deciding he wasn't going anywhere any time soon.

"So...I'm assuming you've met more than just me?" he asked, golden eyes watching Leto's every move. "More lions perhaps? I would be quiet honored to be your first cheetah."

BTW, Leto will be ready to go RP-wise after this is wrapped up.

Leto gave the cheetah a smirk. Exceeding? Well, she supposed so, considering her expectations when she had set out where not that high at all. Leto had made sure to keep and open mind, of course, but she hadn't really believed to find what she had when first crossing the pride border. The lioness had hoped to find good results, deep down, but Leto had kept her head out of the clouds and her paws on the ground since her cub days, relying on fact and observation to form her own opinions. Her old ways of optimism and dreaming snuck in every once a while though. "Oh, you have been, rest assured." She said with a small giggle. The lioness mimicked Hila, giving her weary paws a rest. Her tail curled around her legs as she considered the male's question. Yes, she had met more males, but cheetahs...no, she didn't think she had met any cheetahs before. "I've met plenty of lions, and a leopard or two. But I must say, you are the first cheetah I've ever met. The others I've only seen from a distance, running impossibly fast. I'm quite envious, you know." Leto said, eyes running over Hila's body. "You cheetahs have quite an intriguing physique."

Hlia couldn't keep the little smirk off his face as Leto continued to speak. Seems she could give as good as she could take, which he liked the sound of. It was no fun flirting if the other party didn't react in some way, and when it was returned...well! That just made everyone's lives easier.

"Built for speed, my dear," he said as he stood, flicking his striped tail with amusement. "Would you care to get to know it a bit better?" he asked, a suggestive look in his eye. "I would be more than happy to teach you all about cheetahs." This was it, she'd either take the offer or probably smack him. He was hoping for the former, but had enough experience with the latter to at least beat a hasty retreat.

Sounds good! Just poke me when he's ready and we can sort out the actual breeding stuff like throwbacks and whatnot. 83

Leto smirked again, eyebrow raised. Well, Hila had definitely shown himself to be bold. Even despite knowing the Amazon's reputation, this cheetah was still willing to flirt. Oh, how amusing the thought of this cheetah on the border, trying to woo one of the other scouts. His ears would be more than shredded after that encounter. However, as the case may be, this was not the Antianeira border, and Leto was not one of the other scouts. "Well now, I am on this exploration to gain new knowledge." The lioness replied innocently, her red eyes dancing with mischief behind the mask. "All sorts of knowledge. It would be wrong of me to turn down a fine teacher such as yourself." A teacher who could confirm her suspicions, give evidence to hypotheses and theories. Hopefully Leto could confirm that males really weren't so bad after all.
