Rules of Xmen
Any updates to these rules will be posted in an announcement.
You are responsible for keeping up with them!
Please read carefully.
Failure to follow these rules will result in the our three strike punishments system. Strike one you will get a verbal warning. Second Strike will result in lose of the offending character or a punishment found to be fitting for the offense. Third Strike will be a total removal of you and your characters.
All offenses will be evaluated by the crew.
General
- Follow all of Gaia’s rules in the ToS.
- Do not create threads in the Main Forum. That area is reserved for announcements from the crew.
- Obey all instructions given to you by a Crew member, a Vice Captain, or the Captain. Refusal to cooperate will result in removal from the guild.
- The only exception to the above rule is as follows. If you feel as though you are being told to go completely against your character's design, i.e. you get a pm or instructions stating your character will be doing this or must do that. Essentially if they are controlling yours unfairly you are welcome to deny it and speak about it to another crew member. We will take it from there.
- If crew members are witnessed breaking the rules or being unfair (e.g. abusing their power, being unnaturally cruel, etc.), please do not hesitate to PM a Vice Captain and provide your evidence for it. It will be evaluated thoroughly by the Captain and the Vice Captains.
- Observe all posted stickies and announcements. They are strictly focused on that particular subforum, posting important hints and information for your use.
- If you have a question to ask about a particular subject of the guild, make sure to read the Who Do You Talk to? thread to see which crew member to contact.
- You must post at least two times a week. If Akureikami sees you are inactive a week after your last post, she will send you a message. Akureikami will wait a maximum of five days for a reply before she removes you from the guild.
- If you are waiting to be accepted , keep yourself from going inactive by posting Inside Cerebro subforum.
- If you have not posted at all since you joined, you will have two weeks to post before either Akureikami or the crew removes you. If you know you will be absent, post in the (absence) thread; we will always check there before removing members.
- We will remove members who join and do not post. We will announce many times before this happens. New members who are unfortunate to be removed due to "inactivity" during this time may reapply explaining that they were new and will not be counted for the following rule:
- Once expelled, you’ll have one more chance. After that, there’s no returning to Xmen.
- Check the announcements regularly. Elegantvictiorainrose and the Vice Captains will communicate with the whole guild via Guild Announcements. Please make sure to read these and keep up with them! If you miss an announcement, you may be out of the loop.
- Holidays and any special events will be announced.
- If you feel threatened, hurt, or insulted by any member of the guild, please talk to them before coming to me. Chances are, they’re just being their character. If it doesn’t change and you know it’s more personal, then feel free to PM a VC.
- Drama is unacceptable in the forums or chatroom. Take it to PMs and don’t make a big scene about it. If someone is causing you trouble and stirring up drama and will not listen to calm reason, please contact a Vice Captain as soon as possible so the situation can be dealt with swiftly.
- Crew members are in charge whenever Elegantvictiorainrose and Akureikami are both gone for a week or longer.
- Any issue that arises will be evaluated by the Crew along with the Captain. The Captain, however, will have the final say as to what must be done.
- Please make sure to check the suggestions and guidelines for guides and to see if anyone has asked a question that you have already.
- Users must sign these rules prior to roleplaying. The user has three chances, each chance posted in red in their posts stating that they must sign the rules. They have three chances before they are removed from the guild.
Roleplaying
- When you wish to talk out of character (ooc), please use a form of brackets to show others. (e.g. ((Hey, I’m gonna log off now. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.)) )
- In your post, please have your character's name, faction, and preferably a picture. WE LIKE PRETTY POSTS.
- Do not talk in chat speak. Type every individual letter out.
- This is a Semi-Lit to Lit roleplay. This means that the minimum you must post is 500 words. Please check to make sure you are meeting this. We will do random checks on people who do not seem to be meeting the requirement. You are however given a 50 word buffer. If you are having trouble meeting the minimum please talk to Ryu_Uchiha1 or Akureikami.
- Keep it PG-17. There will be mild violence and cursing due to the nature of the story. Try to keep cussing and violence to a minimum though (but be creative about it!). We don't want intense romance either. Intense make outs and such are fine but the moment clothing comes off and hands start getting really adventurous you need to pan to the next more or the aftermath.
- All sexualities are welcome. Do not give anyone any grief for having their character go one way or the other. Any harassment to the rper for their choice must be reported to a crew member. If harassment does not stop, they will be removed.
- No cybering under any circumstances. Any users found to be abusing this rule will result in IMMEDIATE REMOVAL.
-Use spell check as often as you can. Open a Word Document or Google the word to make sure it’s correct. We will talk to you if you have continued offenses here.
- Stay in character! Don’t make a character just to change the way they act! If your character plans to be a mean person, that’s fine. As long as it’s in your profile that they are that way, you may be as mean as you like. Just don’t overdo it.
- First-person roleplaying is not accepted in the guild (e.g. “I went towards the professor”. Using ‘I’, ‘me’, etc.). We only accept third person (e.g. “Linda walked towards the professor”).
- Godmodding is unacceptable. That means taking control of another’s character or forcing them to do something with their character without giving them a chance to post. This also includes overpowered characters, characters who never get hit, and characters who are flawless. If you’re not sure if you’re doing this, PM a VC and ask.
- The basic idea of roleplaying in this guild and how it works: sure, you can use the chatrooms and PMs to tell other roleplayers your plan for your character(s), but you may not force them to follow exactly as you wish. Each character will react in the way that the roleplayer to those characters sees fit. You may tell the roleplayer what you would like to happen, but it is their choice whether to accept the idea and how they want their character to respond. Otherwise, it can be considered god-modding and will be dealt with accordingly.
- If you would like to have a plot for your character and/or other characters, please read and request in the plot request
Character Set-Ups
- There is a limit of 5 characters in this guild. You may petition for more but you must prove to us that you can handle all of them and not fall behind. If you seem to be falling back we will request that you remove character(s). This is not open for discussion.
- At least ONE of your character MUST be human. The mutant population is small in this guild and we need humans. They might not always be fun without the fancy powers but we need them for the plot. If you have three or more characters we will request your next one be a human. If you have room for another after that you are free to make the last ones mutants.
- We want original characters. This means no relations to any original Xmen .
- Note that if you post a profile that does not follow all the rules it will be labeled as "Needs Editing" which you will have one week to fix your profile. .
- If a profile has been edited and accepted BUT the owner of the profile changes it back to their original, unedited profile after being accepted, the profile WILL be moved the trash.
- Not everyone is allowed to be a cannon character. A list of available positions are here for those who are interested. The crew will be testing your roleplay ability, so make sure you are able to handle it!
- Please see face steal to see who is already using a famous person's face. Please avoid having multiple characters with the same celebrity face.
- Non-mutants will not be allowed to post in the mutant exclusive areas whenever they wish. In order to be at the school or other places they must first get permission (ie a sibling or parent coming to visit). They can, however, post in the cities freely. Any posts made by a non-mutant in the school or brotherhood hideout will be deleted with a warning sent to the User. Only exception to this rule is if the character is injured and brought there BY A MUTANT. Be prepared for their memory to be wiped.
