Roch had been talked into a blind date a little easier this time. Hanging out with Angeline had been fun, and he'd felt a lot more confident in the fact that he COULD move on. He could find new ghouls to hang out with, even if... y'know, right now it was Terra finding them for him. Maybe if this went well he'd ask out the next ghoul, himself!

He did sort of wonder why both of the ghouls she'd picked had been reapers, though. Maybe it was to get him away from monsters? He shrugged, checked his breath against his hand, checked his various zippers to make sure they were zipped, and glanced at the handful of dark purple carnations he'd bought for a seed on a street corner (although he knew very well where the ghoul selling them had stolen them from.)

What did he know about this Mia ghoul? Absolutely nothing. Unlike with Angeline, he hadn't even met her in one of those club things, he thought. All he did know was that Terra thought she was a lovely ghoul, and she had butterflies.

So... here went nothing, he decided as he lifted a well ringed hand and knocked twice on Mia's door. Jack he hoped this didn't turn out to be a date from hell.

Jack, she was a babe. Yes, that was the first thing through his mind as the door opened. "Yeah, I ah, try," he said, grinning at her slightly. "Terra said y'got butterflies, so I figured... uh... they like flowers?" he offered, holding out the small bouquet of purple carnations to her. "Oh, I'm Roch, by the way. Terra's brother."

And this was yet another one he'd gotten a lecture about. Terra was a little less harsh on him, since it seemed Angeline had had fun, but there had been at least one threat of neutering tossed in.

"She talked y'into this, I know," Roch said with amusement. "She's pushy like that--but t'make up for it, I figured I'd show you a good time. And since all I had t'work off was the butterflies... well, I found this lil place a bit t'the side of the town--they've got insect displays--includin' a butterfly room," he dug through his pockets (which took a bit of time) and pulled out a folded pamphlet to hand to her.

"Creepy Crawlies" was printed across the top. "Er... we can avoid the ones y'don't like?" he offered, suddenly remembering that not all ghouls were as big on the poisonous types. "Or if that don't work for you--we could go straight t'the food part of the night."

He choked, looking at her in surprise--then started laughing. "I'll remember that," he said, his amusement clear. "But I was j'st talkin' food, you know," he told her, giving her a wicked grin. "There's a nice little place near the place we're goin, they do a decent spread."

He held out an arm, offering it to her. "Although I'll let you decide how we get there--do y'mind motorcycles? Or would you rather walk?"

He looked her over thoughtfully, taking in the beads in her hair and the dress. "I think we might need t'walk," he finally decided. "See, I tried gettin' Terra on the bike in a skirt once, an' the damn thing kept catchin' on the wind--plus she almost burnt the crap out of herself on the pipes. And hell, the helmet might mess up your pretty hair," he said, his decision fully made--mostly based on the hair. What could he say? He liked hair. (he'd even done Terra's a few times, especially when they were on the family road trip.)

"So how DID you an' my lil sister meet?" he asked as they started out of the reaper dorm. "She said somethin' about a date?"

Oh she just kept opening the door, Roch thought with pure amusement. Whether she meant to or not, he wasn't sure, but it was amusing either way. He gave her a fake look of shock, his eyes wide. "Now you're just flattering me," he told her. "But be warned, I got expensive tastes," he teased shamelessly. "I don't kiss on the first date, y'know!"

That this 6'4 17yr old boil had just said that with a straight face was downright hysterical all in itself. But his silver eyes were gleaming with amusement.

They had left the campus by now and were heading down the path to town. "You got a familiar, right?" he asked, changing the subject. "Can I meet 'em? I've always liked familiars!"

"Nice t'meetcha, Psy," Roch said with a grin. He couldn't see the smile, but he could hear it in her voice. "I'm sure y'ain't helpless, screech. So far all of the familiars I've met have some special skills just waitin' t'be figured out. You two are... first years, right?" he asked them both.

"Close enough!" Roch said. "I'm a hob," he admitted. "A third year. So I don't know that many of the snots. So far, though, Terra's introduced me t'you an' t'Angeline, and it seems a shame I haven't met more of them. I'll haveta fix that." He seemed to be considering the best way to do that for a second before he changed the subject.

"So what kinda reaper are you? Shaman? Mage?" he asked her. "I doubt it's a grim, but I could be wrong, I s'pose."

The town was looming up ahead of them, close enough to hear the noise of all the creeple wandering around.
