A moment's respite was a rare thing, these days - idleness had never been a problem for Tien Lung, not before the Fading, and not now. There was the Cosmodrome to be restored (nearly done, now) and the new sky to be mapped (the work of aching centuries, that) and worlds to reach out to once more. The Dragon King turned his attention skyward, coiling his scales through those silent stars, listening in vain for any song he recognized. At least his followers could and did take joy in the half-restored heavens.
Their joy was often contagious, or else he would have been worn into nothing long, long before.
When he had a moment, he wandered - he flew, most often. But on this particular day, he did not feel like leaving. He yearned for peace, for silence, but not that silence that ached with emptiness, the gaps between stars. No, the simple and mundane hallways of the Pantheon would do as well.
It was whim, really, that brought him to Love's door... and yet, as he paused, he felt drawn to knock. Perhaps Desiderio would have an answer for the ache that would not cease.
It was, after all, within his purview.Meepfur if any details need tweaking let me know <3

Now? There was a knock now? When she was baking, and her hands covered in sticky dough. Of all times! And Rio was heavens knew where - again - and neither Shy nor Ishkha was anywhere in sight. Nashwa glanced down at the dough that coated the pads of her hands, then out the kitchen door, then sighed. She didn't want to open the door with them, but it would take time to wash them, and whoever was there would just have to stand and wait, and that was hardly proper...
"Altan!" She nudged the saurus sleeping on the kitchen floor with her foot. "Altan, you lazy thing, get up and open the door." The first part of the order he was quick to comply with, but tilted his head at the rest. "Go on, out there! Open the door!"
Oh. Oh. That thing. That door. Altan clicked in - very limited - understanding and stalked out into the foyer to nose at the handle until the door swung open. Oh, look, a person! Imagine that! Hello, person.
"Don't mind him!" the katta called. "Please come in. I'm in the kitchen." The smell of cookies - and an eager saurus - would lead the way.

Tian Yue looked surprised at who - at what opened the door, but only for a moment. He himself could be misclassified as a reptile, after all... if a rather unusual one. "Good day," he told the saurus politely, then followed, bemused. It did smell rather wonderful, but it didn't think the voice that had greeted him was Love's.
"Good day to you," he said, nodding to the cat-woman - not one of the feline Aoide, for once, but a feline of another race entirely. "I am Tian Yue, Tien Lung - is Love in residence?"Meepfur ermahgerd it's a Katti surprised <3 and a saurus aaaah

The katta pressed her palms together - cookie dough, chocolate chips, and all - and bowed to the visiting god. "And a good day to you as well, effendi. It is always a great honor to meet another god. I apologize for the...reception. I did not wish to make you wait any longer than necessary."
"He is not, at the moment, but I will have him fetched. I doubt that he has gone far." So saying, she turned her gaze to the floox nesting in the wicker basket on the kitchen table. "Go on then, you heard me. Find him!" The rainbow-furred creature chirped and hopped out of the basket, off the table, and skittered out of the room.
"Would you care for anything? There are cookies." She gestured to a rack where several dozen sugar cookies were cooling, then went to the sink to begin washing her hands. "And I can get you coffee, or tea, or whatever else you might have a taste for."
Altan whuffled the air curiously, but was Very Good and did not whuffle the god. He was not supposed to whuffle strangers. It made Nashwa very cross with him, for some reason.

Tian Yue chuckled. "It is a fine reception - I do not stand on ceremony except when I mean to. Your labors are most fragrant." He brightened visibly at the mention of cookies. "With such temptation wafting through the air all around me, how could I refuse? I would be delighted to sample your work."

"Excellent. You shall have some." Once her hands were finally clean, the katta fetched a fine plate, and quickly but neatly arranged two dozen of the still-warm cookies on it. Who knew how much dragons ate? They were dragons, so she imagined they ate quite a bit, when the mood struck them. The plate was soon set before him, along with a glass of milk.
Altan, meanwhile, paced back to his resting place in the corner nearest the oven. His nice warm nap had been interrupted, but maybe now he could go back to it.
After several minutes more had passed, Rio hurried through front door. The cheeping floox led him into the kitchen, strutting proudly because he'd done such a good job, and hopped back onto the table. ...and stole a cookie right from Tian Yue's plate, because food.
Love, looking slightly out of breath, brightened when he saw that they had a guest, and bowed. "Councillor. I'm sorry to have made you wait, although you seem to be doing well here without me."

Tian Yue was quite contently eating the cookies and milk when the god he sought arrived. He nodded to Rio and rose - but first, he inclined his head in the direction of the katta. "Thank you, good lady. Your hospitality was most welcome. I hope to enjoy it again, some time."
But business was afoot, and the Dragon King sobered as he turned to Love; the use of his newest title only increased that solemnity. "Desiderio. I do not come on Council business, but on my own. I confess I am sore in need of counseling myself in matters of the heart." His tail swished a bit in unease, and a hint of tension in his tall frame showed what even asking this was costing Tien Lung. "Might I petition your aid, if you have the time?"

"It was my pleasure, effendi. Please let me know if you require aything else," the katta responded, and bowed again before returning to her baking.
"Thank you, Nashwa." Rio inclined his head to his follower before turning his attention back to the Dragon King and offering an easy smile. "I'm always happy to help. Come, let us speak elsewhere, lest we find ourselves baked into something."
Nashwa waved off the teasing without so much as glancing up from her work. "You are both much too big to fit in the oven."
"All the same, we'll get out of your way." Collecting what remained of the cookies - much to the floox's disappointment - Love would lead the way out of the kitchen and into a sitting room. Once they were settled, he asked, "Now, what can I do for you?"
He had some suspicions as to what or whom this was about, but he kept them to himself.

"Your followers are most kind," Tian Yue murmured as he was led to the sitting room. Once there, he uneasily took a seat, his tail automatically curling around his legs, the fanned tip visible as it tapped uneasily at the ground.
"... Mistakes I have made, primarily," he said, with a sharp sigh. "My heart feels trapped in the sky's grave, Love. And there was another who desired it, sent me a missive with her feelings, and I... I did not wish to hurt her, but I knew myself too entangled in the past to be able to look forward, yet." With every word, Tian Yue seemed to lean forward - no, bow forward - more and more, until his back was bent, his forehead resting in one clawed hand.
"I could not answer as she wished, but to hurt her - I could not answer. I did not answer. And that, in itself... I am certain it has hurt her. I am paralyzed, and I am tired of feeling so." The words came out in a rush.

As he thought, then. He'd already spoken to Tien, quite some time ago in fact. Did it ever occur to anyone, he wondered, that other 'involved parties' in such matters often came to him as well? Or that it almost always boiled down to the same advice? Phrased differently, of course, with some alterations, but mostly it came down to the same handful of things. Fortunately, he didn't find repeating himself to be bothersome.
"If you're tired of feeling paralyzed, move." Matter-of-fact, but understanding. "Decide. Remain forever true to one love alone, if that is your wish, or allow yourself the chance of others. It's your choice, but you need to make it."
