Copid directly from main site:What is Camp NaNoWriMo? Based on November’s National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), Camp NaNoWriMo provides the online support, tracking tools, and hard deadline to help you write the rough draft of your novel in a month… other than November! Camp NaNoWriMo was established in 2011 as a project of the Office of Letters and Light, the parent 501(c)(3) nonprofit to National Novel Writing Month and the Young Writers Program. 2013 Camp sessions will take place in April and July. What: Writing a novel from scratch in one month’s time. Who: You! (And about 20,000 other novelists around the world.) Let’s write some perhaps-awful, but definitely lengthy, prose together. Why: The reasons are endless! To actively participate in one of our era’s most enchanting art forms! To write without having to obsess over quality. To be able to make obscure references to passages from our novels at parties. When: You can sign up anytime to add your name to the roster. Writing begins at 12:00 AM on April 1, and again on July 1. To be added to the official list of winners, you must reach your word-count goal by 11:59 PM on the last day of the month. Once your novel has been verified by our web-based team of robotic word counters, the partying begins. ◦Do you have more questions? Our friendly, automated Help Desk is at the ready. ◦Are you a member of the press with an interest in covering Camp NaNoWriMo? Email us at press@nanowrimo.org. Camp Nanowrimo Link I hope some of you will participate. It's a great way to train yourself with word count goals. It also gives you an awesome deadline rush that will help you finish. Unfortunately we've already missed the April start up, but a second one starts in July. If you're interested, start planning now! Or if you'd like to use it as an aid to continue something you already have, that's okay too. I myself will be participating in July. There is also the official National Novel Writing Month in November. Good luck everyone! Feel free to post your thoughts in this thread! And don't be afraid to share your username so we can all keep track of eachother!

I will be participating in July. I already know what I am going to be writing for it, although I am debating if I am going to plot the thing or if I am going to take a chance and pants it. I am leaning on pantsing as I took the basic premise from another NaNo I attempted to pants and feel it would be fitting. My username on both the NaNo site and the Camp NaNo site are the same as my one here, but I have provided links anyway. You said you are participating in the July one Talia Delune. Do you know what you are going to write yet?

Do you know what you are going to write yet? Well since you have the basic premise of a previous nano attempt, it's sort of like already having a plan, right?
I'm not sure yet. I've been thinking of just continuing what I've already been writing. Use nano as a grindstone to stick my nose to.

The basic premise is "There is a shadow on the horizon, this is very bad. Somehow the gods are responsible. The heroes need to fix it." Everything I had in the NaNo has been changed, so no plan. That sounds like a good idea. NaNo is very good for getting things done.

I've been thinking of starting something new for the sake of taking a break from all of my other writing. The only reason I was thinking of doing a continuation was because last November I completely let go of the novel I was workong on so I could work on nano. I hate dropping things and then trying to pick them back up.
I hope some of the guild members will take advantage of nano. It's a great thing.
I wish you luck with pantsing it. I've never been much of a planner. I usually only plan in my head if that even counts, haha.

Although I worked on two separate stories (kind of three, but the third only got a thousand in before I went back to the second) in 2011, and also two in 2010. I did Camp NaNo in April this year and then last April I did Script Frenzy. Wins all around. I normally plan everything out, the second of in 2011 was a pants that happened while the third one was one that did not. Dropping ideas is annoying. But I find my writing in NaNo is atrocious and could not put that with projects I have been working on. And I agree, NaNo is amazing for getting things done. Plus, I find the more people doing NaNo, the more the NaNo mood hangs around, and the more people reach their goals.

The more a person is involved in the full nano experience, the more likely they are to reach their goal. Congrats on all those wins by the way! I only reached 24000 last year. I still considered it a won though sicne it was the highest word count I had ever managed. Since then word counts have been no problem. I'm just too much of a perfectionist to finish anything. I think that's why I eventually gave up last year. I couldn't read my work without cringing, ahaha. My new user for nano is Taliadelune by the way. I couldn't remember my old one... It's too hot outside to think properly.

Although I avoid the NaNo site forums during the month because they are a worse time sink than TVtropes. And thank you. That is still a huge accomplishment, especially since it was your first attempt. As for the cringing, I find striking through, underlining, or just changing the font to a light grey on the parts I really could not stand and needed to fix helps a lot. And that is also why they advise you not to go back and read it during the month. Out of everything I have written for NaNo, two have gotten to see the light of day, which is pretty much me deciding to edit them and pretty much re-write everything. Your username is not showing up on the search for the NaNo site. Do you have a link? You were talking about the Camp NaNo site. Found you.

I guess that's not surprising though. I've done that enough times with my own work. One day it's a great idea and the next I'm banging my head against a desk wondering what the hell I was thinking.
The forums are definitely a black hole of distraction. I, of course, learned that the hard way.
You said you did script frenzy, right? I've heard of that though I've never really taken a look. Do you enjoy script writing?

You said you did script frenzy, right? I've heard of that though I've never really taken a look. Do you enjoy script writing? Yep. Only two. Most of the others really were not coherent enough to warrant anything other than attempting to reach 50k on it. And yes I did Script Frenzy. I liked it and found it was a really great way to work on my dialogue. And to get descriptions of things in as few words as possible. It requires a different style of writing that is rather eye-opening when it comes to prose. Mostly though I find the script format is too restrictive for my liking so I stick with my prose.

I've never tried script writing before, but I'm starting to think I ought to. It seems like it could be a fresh change of perspective. I already know, like you, I'd prefer good old prose though. You know writing a script for a novel already being worked on could really help someone with writer's block...

2pound camp napomo vs camp nanowrimo i'm trying to be clever. sweatdrop No, I'm sorry! I had no clue what napomo was! Jeeze, I should make a page for it. But yeah, haha, it'd be cool to have the poets compete against the novelists.
