Name: Yaholo (Native American name meaning "One Who Yells")
Race: Mixed race - Alkidike/Leaf
Gender: Male
Base Traits:

Impulsive

'Holo tends to, scream, do stupid things and/or jump right into dangerous or embarrassing situations without thinking. This can be predominantly observed when he's fairly excited, bored as hell, or anticipating an attack from somewhere around him.

Examples of this in dialogue:

"I've been sitting here for hooouuurs... Maybe I should go agitate that known venomous animal over there! YEAH! That'll be fun!"

"HOSHIT! The trees are on fire! Maybe if I fan it with this dry leaf, it'll stop!"

"AAAAARRGGHH! DIE YOU BASTARR-... Oh... that was just a branch scratching a rock..."

"NOTE TO SELF. When attempting to visit other Alkidikes, DO NOT RUN DIRECTLY INTO THE CAMP WITHOUT WARNING! They. Will. Hurt. YOOOOU."

Scatterbrained

Yaholo has never been an organized person, and he probably never will be. His thoughts are never clear, his stuff is always getting lost, and his body is always getting stuck in or harmed by something. He can never seem to keep his focus on anything.

Always seeking approval

Yaholo wants to please EVERYONE, especially his Alkidike "sisters." Despite how much of a scatterbrained fool he is, he never stops trying to climb higher, run faster, and keep up with everyone around him. If he happens to be rejected, no matter if it's verbally or physically, he'll just keep on trying until he either gets his approval or falls flat on his face from exhaustion.

Class: Guard ---> Massif ---> Brute
Personality:

Yaholo, or 'Holo (Ha-low) as most people call him, is a lot like your typical Golden Retriever. He comes as is, genuine and honest, and doesn't expect a whole lot from everyone. All he knows is that there a people in the world he lives in, and those people expect a lot of him, and thus he tries his hardest to please them. He's usually friendly, warm and eager to run about outside with others, with the more than occasional slip and fall to his name. But he'll always find a way, or at least a reason, to get back up on his feet and run headlong after his chosen goal again.

Despite his warmth and general simplicity, 'Holo isn't the easiest person to work and live with. He's fairly scatterbrained and always thinking about something other than the task at hand. Giving him a lot of responsibilities isn't the best idea, especially if the first few tasks require long walks in between to complete. He will find a rest stop at some point and may lose the item from the first task, or worse, fall asleep and not come back for hours. Another thing to worry about is how impulsive he can be. If he's frightened of or excited about something, there isn't much stopping him from running head long into danger or spoiling a good surprise.

With every good dog comes their unconditional loyalty and protection. Yaholo loves both sides of his lineage with every fiber of his being, even if some of them refuse to take kindly to him. He'll protect both Alkidikes and Leaf tribe members from harm and take care of lost Younglings, if one should ever wander too far from home. It's this kindness and humanity that makes up for his otherwise irresponsible and foolish ways when handling tasks.

Description:

Hair: Black like an Alkidike's but without dreads. It's glossy, very wavy, always unkempt and getting in his eyes. It reaches about mid-back in length. Pretty much between this and this. (The bangs of the first one with the rest of the second one.)
Eyes: Large like the Leaf tribe, but bug-like as an Alkidike. The color is a mix of Leaf and Alkidike, a rich dark emerald. (Green + black = Dark emerald)
Skin: He has very dark skin like this guy -> [x]
Markings: Yaholo has turquoise Alkidike makings that are arranged like the white paint on the guy in the image above

Stones:

CC on color, but please keep them small! <3

Height: 6'2"
Build: Average with some muscle. He's fairly skinny, though, because he has a habit of wandering around for days without eating. (He'll scoff and say "I just forget to eat. Is that a crime?")
Facial expression: Yaholo usually has a deep, thoughtful expression on his face. However, that doesn't necessarily mean that anyone is home. |3
Other:

- He does have Alkidike antennae, which he is incredibly proud of.

Clothing: CC on style, however, could you keep the color scheme to the colors on this guy? -> [x]
Accessories:
The knife in this image is something he is never without. The same with the red braided material with the beads.

History:

One year on Chibale Island, Yaholo came tumbling out of a Lotus wide eyed and smiling. Not one soul came to claim him and not one soul dared to approach him, but 'Holo looked up at all of the faces, filled with shock, disgust and disdain, and grinned. Little hands reached forward and squeaky babbles erupted from his throat as everyone turned away. And with tiny feet wobbling and giggling voice, Yaholo followed them all the way back to Jauhar.

Although he certainly wasn't accepted by the Alkidikes, it was decided that because no one had come to claim him, that keeping him alive was the humane thing to do. They allowed him to sleep on the outer lines of the camps and follow them on foot if they moved, but he was not permitted to sleep within the camp nor be held by any of the women, even on long treks around the region. He always longed to be doted on like the pure Alkidike Younglings around him, but knew well that he was to do as he was told, or he may lose the only home he had ever known.

It was during one of these trips that Yaholo was separated from the others and wandered into the deserts of Tale. For the first time in his life he was completely alone and was terrified. The rain forest was gone and replaced by clusters of twisted blue, yellow and green trees. Little 'Holo wandered the new landscape for hours before spotting what appeared to be a settlement within the trees. However, as he came hurtling towards what he hoped was another Alkidike settlement, his head crashed into the side of a of a tree and knocked himself out.

When he awoke, he found himself looking up at the face of an elderly woman, and he promptly jumped into a sitting position. Fear surged through his veins as other strange people approached and peered at him. What were they? They weren't Alkidikes! Where the hell was he?! Tears formed in his eyes and he pinned himself up against the tree. Where were his sisters?! They would've come looking for him! ... Right? The people who had gathered around him stepped back and looked to one another before a young man came running forward. He knelt down to Yaholo and patted him, tears in his eyes.

"Your m-mother, is she here?" He asked.

Yaholo peered up at the strange man and tilted his head. What was he talking about? He didn't have a mother... Did he...?

"What mother, stranger?" He replied.

It was then that the young man scooped him up and held him, sobbing profusely. Yaholo didn't know it then, but this man was his father, and had been waiting for his mother to bring him back to the tribe. No one knew what became of his mother, but from that day forward, Yaholo's home was with his father, Cusick of the Leaf Tribe.

Once Yaholo had grown, his heart began to drift back to the days he spent with the Alkidikes. Did they know what became of his mother? Was she still among them? He packed his satchel, along with his many questions, bid farewell to his family, and headed out towards Jauhar. To this day he still wanders back and forth, interacting with both sides of his lineage on a daily basis. He likes to think that he has the best of both worlds, despite how rough of a start he had.

Sorry, long response is long.

I'm more of an appearance person, so I'm going to address that first before going into personality:

I think he's interesting and on his way to becoming a member of Tendaji. The skin of the leaf tribe doesn't really get quite that dark, but I can make him darker than most, and the markings look interesting. The rest of his physical description looks fine to me.

The clothing color scheme depends on where he chooses to associate himself more with. The color of the loincloth the image is wearing is more along the lines of Alkidike, but because he accepts and embraces both Tale and Jauhar he can probably get away with using both leaf and Alkidike color schemes in his outfit. So that would be up to you if you have a preference or would just leave it up to me.

The knife in the image is something that wouldn't really exsist on Tendaji. If anything, it would have a wooden handle and a dark metal for the blade... but this description is for RPing purposes. Official art of prentice stage characters do not have weapons in them, so it wouldn't be shown in the art at all.

That's all I really have to say about the appearence, and my head hurts a little so I won't go too far into personality until I feel better, but I'll give it a go right now.

The way you described his personality under the personality section sounds more natural and cohesive than the three traits. While the dialog included under impulsive is humorous, it doesn't sound very believable. If he were impulsive and didn't think very much about what he was about to do, I doubt he would use descriptors like venomous, agitate, and things that alude to him knowing that what he was about to do wouldn't go well. I feel like he could use sentences like, "Maybe I should go check out that animal over there, that'll be fun" etc, and then use venomous and agitate as adjectives to his actions and the results? And could still be loud, yelling, and obnoxious (or however you intend to play him).

Besides that, impulsive, scatterbrained, and approval seeking sound like the core of an interesting character, and the history doesn't seem to have any problems to me. It's a very interesting story as to the birth and youth of your character.

Now, just as questions to get you thinking a little further about the character and his interaction with the world:

He likes to travel back and forth between the two sides of his life; how do the Alkidikes treat him when he interacts with them?

And how does the leaf tribe feel, particularly his father? Does he still have a relationship with his father?

And then, how does Holo feel about the others' reactions to him?

Thank you for the critique! I'm breaking the big post down into chunks for simplicity's sake. :3

Whatever you need to do to make him fit with the others is perfectly fine. I was just using that reference to convey that he was darker than most Leaf Tribe members. :3

I have no real preference for color scheme, though a mix of both tribes would be awesome.

Okay, so it wouldn't be a bright metal and it wouldn't be in his art. That's fine with me. He will have it in rp, obviously not the one in the reference, but the correct form of said weapon. (Wooden handle and dark metal) Given if that's allowed.

I probably should have used a different term than dialogue. Those quotes weren't meant to be read as something that he'd literally say. They're supposed to be a humorous way to view his actions, as if someone were watching him or talking about him. Maybe if I write it like a play it'll make more sense...? |3

Person1: Hey, did you hear what Yaholo did the other day?

Person2: Oh, no, what did he do this time?

Person1: He was supposed to be gathering food with us, but as always, he decided to sit and rest for a while. But before we knew it, he was screaming about some angry snake trying to bite him!

Person2: Geez, what did 'Holo do to make that snake so upset?

Person1: Apparently he had picked it up by it's tail and wiggled it around because he was BORED.

Person2: Oh come on, you're kidding!

Person1: I KID YOU NOT. I can't imagine what goes on in his mind. I mean, it must be something like, "I've been sitting here for hooouuurs... Maybe I should go agitate that known venomous animal over there! YEAH! That'll be fun!"

Person2: UGH. What is WRONG WITH HIM?

Does that make the quotes make more sense? They're not something he would say, but what others would say about him after he does something reckless and impulsive. :3

He likes to travel back and forth between the two sides of his life; how do the Alkidikes treat him when he interacts with them?

The Alkidikes value him more now that he's older, can help hunt and participate in day-to-day tasks in a more "adult" manner. He's still not widely accepted as a part of their culture, but a few of them have come to accept him as an ally and companion. They know he's not a threat to the way they live and don't see a reason to cause him harm. Plus, he's always trying to help them and doesn't put up a fight if told to leave the group for any reason. You could say that they really don't care about him hanging around, as long as he doesn't mess anything up. |3

Quote:
And how does the leaf tribe feel, particularly his father? Does he still have a relationship with his father?

Cusick adores him. Yaholo was very important to him from the very beginning. He had fallen in love with an Alkidike, made the trip to plead with Aisha for him, and went home with his heart pounding with anticipation for him. When his lover never returned with his child, he became sick with worry, but he knew he wasn't allowed to travel back to find his lover. He could have been killed.

Thus, when Yaholo arrived as a child, Cusick was overjoyed to have the child he had begged for, despite having moved on after the disappearance of his Alkidike lover. Even if he had already married and had another child on the way at the time, Yaholo being safe at home with him was always something that he had hoped for. They have a wonderful relationship as father and son. Cusick loves to play jokes on Yaholo and tease him about all the Alkidikes he hangs out with. ("ha ha, you have a crush!" <- Most common tease. |3)

The rest of the tribe came to accept him shortly after he arrived. Cusick's sadness over not knowing what happened to his lover and soon to be child was something that was much talked about in the tribe, and despite initial bias, all of the members agreed that it was best that they abandon their ignorance for Cusick's sake. He had always tried his best to provide for the tribe and didn't deserve to be treated poorly by those he loved.

When Yaholo arrived in the settlement, some people turned their noses up in the air and ignored him, but as he adjusted to their culture and began to prove himself as a member of their tribe, those that had been biased decided he wasn't a problem. Eventually, every tribe member had come to accept him as one of their own, which took about three years.

His other family members, besides his father, accepted him right off the bat. Walvia, his step-mother, connected with him because she was without a mother from an early age and tried her best to be his mother. Yaholo appreciates her and helps her take care of the house, but still wishes he knew who his real mother was. His younger half-sister, Pahana, is pretty much his biggest fan. She adores his antennae, practically leaps into his arms when he comes home, and begs him to take her with him to visit the Alkidikes. Yaholo loves Pa-ha, as he calls her, and would do anything to protect her, even if it means saying "No" to those big, adorable green eyes.

Quote:
And then, how does Holo feel about the others' reactions to him?

Yaholo gets along the best with the Leaf Tribe. In the past he was unsure of what people thought about him and skeptical of the elders of the tribe. However, now that he's grown and has proven himself, he's confident that all of the tribe members care about him and don't mind him hanging around. Though, when he does something stupid or forgets to do something, he makes sure to apologize profusely and keep out of the elder's way for a while. |3

As for the Alkidikes, Yaholo is constantly trying to prove himself to them. He wants to be accepted by them, he wants to have more of an equal status among them, and he wants to be able to smile and joke around with them without being regarded as stupid or be given an odd look. He doesn't like being told to leave the group or be rejected by them, but he knows that if he disobeys them or fights back, he'll never be accepted and probably would be beaten up. One day he hopes that they will accept him and appreciate him, but he knows that "one day" won't come easy or any time soon.

I figured as much about the dialogue, but I had to make sure before approving the character. But he seems like he'll be an impulsive and spontaneous member of Tendaji and he is all set heart
