Jerry walked out of the infirmary with a sour expression and an arm in a sling. He didn't know what he had been thinking. It had all been so fast and seemed logical at the time, but wasn't that always the case? He deserved this, he supposed gloomily. Clumsily with his left hand he fished out his phone... another concerned twitter note from Candace. Deep breaths. He texted her back: Quote: Text from Jerry: Have time to talk?

He didn't bother returning the text- the pod room wasn't that far from the infirmary. He shuffled into the quiet room, spotting the light where she was loitering. "Hi," He managed shyly.

Candace was reading a book when Jerry arrived, looking up when she heard his voice and giving the man a warm smile. "Hey there, pull up a cha--what happened..?" She meant his arm given the fact that it was suddenly in a sling. Now she looked worried. Did Rep do that?

"I fell. Out a window." He put flatly, his face flushing as he pulled up a chair. "Apparently Fear Shields aren't good for falls."
Roar gave a confirming grunt of disgust.

He fell out a window. Candace just stared. How the ******** do you fall out a window? It was so tempting to ask who was abusing him, that she could help him if he needed it, that it was okay and that him hitting you doesn't equate to love. Atropos cackling told her that might not be a good idea, the man looked embarrassed enough as it was. "I...I see..I'll keep that in mind."
Candace marked her place in her book and set it aside, leaning forward on the table with her chin in her hands. "How does one fall out of a window around here, dearest?"

He cleared his throat. "By trying to climb out of one." His face grew even redder and before she could fire a follow up question he blurted out, "He was asking all these questions and I panicked! What was I supposed to do?"

"Ah, of course. How silly of me." Candace didn't even try to hide her amusement now, grinning. "Well, depending on who it is either answer his questions or tell him to get the hell out of your face and go away," she answered pleasantly.

"I tried being assertive! It didn't work, he just threatened to harass me more! I mean maybe if he had been nice about it I would have opened up a little but he was demanding and I just couldn't-!" he shook his head, rubbing his temple.

So it wasn't a leader he had been escaping. Good, good. Hm...threatened to harass him? Mark? Dwight? Couldn't have been Rep..or Robert... "Who is 'he'?"

"Melvin!" Jerry threw his good arm up in the air and hissed when the other tried to follow suit. "he was just... Asking all these personal questions and... I've been in this weird place lately... It all seemed logical at the time."

Candace laughed outright, but she at least had the courtesy to put a hand over her mouth and try not to laugh too loudly. "Melvin?!" That was all?! He could've..like...hit him or something! Just made him go away! Ahaha! What the hell? Oh, god, she wanted to know what he'd been asking. She'd have to ask later. She let herself laugh for a minute or two before she calmed herself down with a little sigh, still chuckling every now and then. It seemed logical. What the hell was logical about climbing out a window?! Oh, Jerry. Jerry, Jerry, Jerry. "So, weird place. What's up with that? You've been worrying me."

He pursed his lips, trying to figure out how to articulate it. He rubbed his face under his glasses again. "I just feel... I don't know. I guess it's been... I always used to be able to just... smile and push my way through things. But it gets harder and harder and I just... my brain feels like I'm.. going to burst or something. I think getting arrested was... definitely one of the final straws." He sank down in his seat miserably. "i'm just so... angry all the time. At everything."

She listened quietly to Jerry's explanation, a gentle frown on her lips. He had been doing so well...or so she had thought. Why was nothing working? Why could they not help him? Candace didn't know what to do for Jerry and the thought infuriated her. "Why are you angry? I mean...I'm not a therapist or anything but I don't know..maybe really getting down to the root of the problem might help?" She didn't claim to be a professional or to know what she was doing. To be honest being around someone like Jerry usually made her very uncomfortable, but Jerry was special to her. She wanted to help him, she just didn't know how. "Make a list of positives in your life? Think of one happy thing you like about yourself a day?" Candace was at a loss.

Jerry's brows furrowed as he thought about it. He bit his lip. He knew what was more than likely the root cause of his depression, but it wouldn't do any good talking to Candace of all people about it. Instead, he offered with a weak, nervous smile, "I'm a pretty snappy dresser."
