Gossamer Location: Gotham Streets. Status: Trying to figure out what's going on. This was... definitely not her apartment. The tall, slender woman had stepped out of the run-down warehouse along what should have been the docks of New York City. She stood in the doorway, staring blankly out at the broken concrete parking lot in front of her. There was no sea, no docks, no boats... nothing. Just.... a large empty parking lot that was beginning to sprout weeds through the cracks and craters scattered about it. Gossamer blinked once, took one long look around her, then blinked again. ”What the hell...” she said slowly, stepping farther out of the doorway. Her black boots clacked against the concrete as she walked, and a sliver of gray material danced behind her. Once she was far enough into the parking lot, and positive that she wasn't dreaming, she looked around her again. She was also positive now that she had NO idea where she was at. These weren't her buildings, she didn't recognize these buildings, she didn't even recognize the skyline. Pursing her lips together, she scowled and turned around to look at the building she had just walked out of. Surprisingly enough... it WAS her building. The harbor was just... gone. Completely. Which was still making absolutely no sense to her what-so-ever. All she had done was rob another bank or two last night, then she headed back here, hid her money, and went to bed. She did NOT preform any spells that she could have messed up. She didn't... she didn't do anything for... whatever this was to happen. Scowling again, her dark blue eyes traveled back towards the skyline around her. She brushed a few strands of her black hair out of her face, then placed her hand on her gun holster. Still there. Should still be loaded since she never used it last nigh. With a small sigh, she glanced down at her outfit. She'd just gone to bed in her outfit from last night. Tight black pants, boots, her favorite little straight jacket that was torn, tattered, bloodied, and needed the black leather corset top to hold it up. She was fully dressed... but she really needed to think about getting herself a new “look”. Any more fights and the corset would be the only bit of material serving as her top. She made a bit of a face at the ripped up jacket, then looked down towards the street. It looked as though she were just in the abandoned part of town... there were more lights and activity going on up the street. With another little sigh, she held her hand up towards the door she had exited from. The handle began to glow, and the door slowly slid shut on it's own, and locked up tight. Gossamer then straightened herself out, then began walking down the street to see if she could figure out where she was. Perhaps do a little shopping. Make a few 'friends'.

The Joker Location: Gotham Streets Status: Trying to figure out who the hell the woman trespassing on his turf is As it turned out, Gossamer was not the only person in the area. A voice came from an alley very close to Gossamer, saying, "Well, well, well, what do we have here?" The voice sounded at once jovial and menacing, a strange dichotomy of intelligence and insanity apparent almost from the outset. Footsteps echoed from within the alley as the voice continued. "You look like you just broke out of Arkham, from the looks of the straight-jacket. But I don't recognize you..."
Finally, a figure emerged from the shadows of the alley. A man, who by all accounts looked like a clown. His skin was white enough that it could have been painted, and his red lips and green hair were bright and vibrant. His suit was a deep purple color, with pinstripes on the pants. The jacket looked to be made of velvet, and was worn over a dark green button-up shirt and an orange vest, complete with blue knot tie. With spats on his shoes to make the look complete, he should have been more funny than frightful, but there was something that changed the way it came together, beyond his voice. A bright, cheery smile was on his face as he continued. "No matter. You looking to join my gang? It's a good day to do it; today we're letting new recruits join the ranks." Then, the other thing that made the look intimidating really showed: his smile, which changed from friendly to evil as he added, ""Yesterday, we let the new recruits participate as target practice."

Gossamer Location: Gotham Streets. Status: Uneasy... yet curious of what sort of "gang" a clown could have.. ..........Gossamer didn't make it very far down the street before she was stopped by a voice coming from the alley directly beside her. The dark haired witch snapped her head towards the dark entrance, and her fingers instinctively moved to the handle of the gun strapped to her thigh. She kept her gaze fixed on the bodiless voice and only relaxed when the man finally came into view under the street light. Relaxed as in she wasn't going to shoot him anyway. The man's physical appearance was... not something Gossamer was used to seeing. The oddest getup she had ever seen were just costumes some of the villains had made themselves. This... the green hair and the face and... Honestly. What was a guy doing down in these kinds of alleys dressed up like THAT? ..........Gossamer let her eyes drift over the stranger's figure, her expression shifting into a mix of puzzlement and sarcasm. She wasn't from Gotham, so she didn't know that this man should be taken more seriously. When he spoke again, her eyes flickered back up to his face. Her expression became fully curious when he mentioned that he had a gang. "Gang?" she asked. Her tone making it quite clear that she didn't quite believe that he had his own gang. "Yeah... sorry, I'm not from around here. I don't tend to do well in groups anyway. I've been told I don't play well with others."

The Joker Location: Gotham Streets Status: Still trying to figure the woman out "I've been told the same thing, as a matter of fact," the clown replied, rather whimsically in tone, but dark in expression, "And you are rather beautiful, AND I have NO IDEA where Harley's cute little a** has gotten to, so I'm going to try to ignore the fact that this conversation is slightly boring." Then, he added with a shrug, "Still, I suppose you should introduce yourself. I need no introduction, of course."

Gossamer Location: Gotham Streets. Status: Still uneasy and curious in an odd sort of way... .......... Gossamer paused for a moment, then took her hand off of her gun. She crossed her arms under her bosom, and shifted her weight onto one leg. "Actually... you probably do." she replied. "When I said I'm not from around here, I meant I'm really not from around here." Then she brushed a few strands of dark hair from her face and smiled slightly. Still... he did compliment her. As... weird as that sounded coming from someone dressed up like him. "I'm Gossamer...assassin and spell caster for hire. I usually hang around New York City. Not quite sure how I got here though. Wherever... "here" is. I'm assuming I spelled in my sleep or something."

The Joker Location: Gotham Streets Status: Wondering how someone alive doesn't know who he is "You don't know that you're in Gotham City?" the clown asked, visibly surprised. "Toots, under what rock, in what universe, have you been under all your life?" He laughed for a moment, then continued. "Well, now you know the 'where'. As for the 'who'..." The clown took a deep bow, and finished the sentence with, "I am the Joker. Chemist, jokester, bank robber, and murderer, among other things."
Straightening himself up, he pulled his jacket straight and added, "So you do magic, huh? Real magic? I like that. Mostly because the Bat-freak hates it, but still."

Gossamer Location: Gotham Streets. Status: Growing more curious. The unease is beginning to subside.. .......... "Bat-freak?" Gossamer asked. "You'll have to forgive me. The... rock... I've lived under never mentioned anything about Gotham." she said, then grinned slightly and uncurled one of her hands from her arm. She held out her hand, and a green flame burst from the palm of her hand and hovered in the air for a moment. Then she curled her fingers together tightly, and the flame turned into a small cloud of black smoke. It rolled into the air, then took the shape of a skull before vanishing. "And yes... I do "real" magic." she said with a smile.

The Joker Location: Gotham Streets Status: Feeling surprise at the woman's ignorance, and ability "You've never heard of Gotham? Of the Batman? Of ME?" The Joker whistled, and said, "That must have been one serious rock." Then he refocused his attention to her hand. "But going back to your particular skill, and I don't mean your fashion sense or smashing good looks."
He approached her, paying no heed to the fact that if she had a problem with it, she might be able to magic him out of existence. "I'm really quite fascinated. I can do magic, but it's more what you would consider parlor tricks."

Gossamer Location: Gotham Streets. Status: Curious and intrigued...such an interesting man.. .........."Parlor tricks like cards?" Gossamer asked. She didn't mind him walking closer to her. He seemed honestly interested in her use of magic, so she doubted he was going to do anything to harm her. And if he did... well that would be quite a mistake on his part. "Slight of hand... something hidden up your sleeve? Something like that?" she continued. Then she thought for a moment, and smiled, drawing her hand back to fold her arms again. She might be able to use this to her advantage. The man seemed to have an interest in her services, and he seemed to know all about this place. She certainly wasn't going to get very much information wandering the streets dressed like this. .... still though. She worked for insanely rich business men. Not... clowns.

The Joker Location: Gotham Streets Status: Ready to impress the woman with his skill and wit "Yes, yes, and yes," Joker replied, smiling ear to ear, much of the menace in his voice having diminished over the course of the conversation. "I have one particularly good card trick in mind, but I need one more person..."
Just then, a heavily tattooed man in a white wife beater shirt, jeans and a large clown mask holding an automatic rifle emerged from the alley. "Hey, boss, who's the broad?"
"Perfect timing, Thaddeus," the clown said, looking at the man and recognizing the tattoos; he'd been part of Joker's gang for years. The Joker had no idea if Thaddeus was his real name, but the clown had called him that some time ago, and it had stuck. Joker reached into a pocket, and drew out a deck of cards. He cut the deck with one hand, and said, "Come over here and help me out with this. First though..." He turned towards Gossamer and fanned out the cards. "Pick one. And do be careful; paper cuts can be painful."
Thaddeus obeyed the Joker and drew closer, keeping an eye on the woman.

Gossamer Location: Gotham Streets. Status: Interested to see what the man has planned.. ..........Gossamer blinked when the man replied at first. She was just being sarcastic about the whole card thing. She waited for him to explain what he meant by card tricks, and quickly turned her attention towards the other man as he approached them. Her eyes flickered over his figure, but trained themselves on the gun in his hand. She only let her gaze slip from the man when Joker called him over to help him, relaxing slightly knowing that she wasn't going to be shot at. Not... yet anyway. Her eyes then lowered onto the cards he had held out for her. She looked at them a moment, then smiled a bit. What the heck... she was curious. She again unhooked one hand from her crossed arms. She raised it towards the cards, but instead of grabbing one, she pointed her finger at them. One card began to glow, and was gently slid out from the rest of the pack. It hovered it's way towards her and stopped in front of her. "Paper cuts aren't really a problem for me." she replied with a small smirk.

The Joker Location: Gotham Streets Status: Having some fun
Thaddeus stood there, dumbfounded. If instinct hadn't reminded him that to ensure survival, he shouldn't drop his gun, or the Joker would kill him, he probably would have. This woman had some serious power. And she was getting on with the Clown Prince of Crime like they were almost besties. And she WASN'T Harley, which was the REALLY weird thing.
"Impressive," the Joker said to Gossamer, shuffling the deck a little more. The smile on his face showed the enjoyment he was having. As he organised the deck into a single pile in his hand again, he asked, "You got it memorized?"

Gossamer Location: Gotham Streets. Status: Interested to see what the man has planned.. ..."Mmm-hm." Gossamer replied with a small smile. "Simple enough. I assume you'll want it back into the deck of cards?" she asked. She was still fairly interested in seeing what the clown had planned. So far it seemed like the set up to a rather common card trick. Granted, most people couldn't preform it correctly, but she didn't understand how this was supposed to compare to her gifts in magic. She glanced at Thaddeus momentarily, but kept her prime focus on the Joker.

The Joker Location: Gotham Streets Status: Ready to get the trick going Thaddeus was rather interested in the trick, too, although no one would be able to tell through the mask he wore. After a quick glance at Gossamer, partly to make sure she wasn't making a false move against the boss, and partly to check out her body, he refocused on the trick. After all, the boss said he wanted help. Thaddeus wasn't sure how he'd be able to help, but he'd be here. Joker replied to Gossamer with a nod, "You're quite right," The clown simply used the thumb of the hand holding the deck and started running it down the corner of the deck, riffling it. "Tell me where to stop, dear. That's where you'll put your card," he said with an anticipating smile. The Joker moved the hand holding the deck closer to her, so that she could see it better.
