The Ice Caves are a network of caverns naturally created by the land itself. These caverns are completely made of ice and though some are very deep, they can be seen by looking down at them. When the sun hits them they light up and give off a light show. These caverns have been used as training areas for the local ninja. Another use of them is during war the villagers are funneled down into the labyrinthine caves until it is safe to reemerge.

The surrounding temperature was a lot different from how the surface was. Up there, he was used to the cold feelings. This, however, was a different story. These caverns were made of ice, unlike the upper level's frost. As the young man ventured deeper within the caverns, he felt as if he were sinking further into the earth, though it could have just been his imagination running wild, as it tended to do. He was quite the enthusiastic boy, and his mind usually ran wild over little things. Mamoru found this ironic, in the situational sense. Being lower down, one would expect the underground to have been hotter, seeing as he'd always heard that the earth's center was extremely hot, yet here he was, closer to the core than he would have been at the surface, through his mind, mind you, and was freezing! It was something he could have easily adjusted to , though. After living in a tundra-like environment for a majority of one's life, it was something to quickly adapt to, but what of shinobi not native to the lands? They were not to have a fun time. Standing down at a deep part of the cavern with his arms folded, he shouted through the cave, "Hellooo, anybody out theeeere!?" More specifically, he was wondering if his fellow squadmates had already made it in behind him. He was too excited to get moving to have looked back. This, was where he heard most ninja trained at because of the large environment and the calmness of being away from a lot of distracting noises, so he decided that his best bet was to come here and train with them.
"Things are fun if you're more enthusiastic!"
