Crash!

Hisako closed her eyes as the thunder crackled and shook the night skies from her small hiding place pressed against a stone wall with but a small ledge above her from the naturally formed terra. Small streams of water poured around her, splashing against the dark hue of her pelt, although she wasn't small enough to get out of the rain fully it kept her face dry and that was all that was important to her. She needed to keep her bandages dry, least the searing pain of exposed nerve and tissue from the rain make her double over if she risked going home now.

The cold and dampness of this spring storm made her body shake slightly, smaller than the rest of her family and least equip with the strength it took to ward of the weather's elements. The chill of metal cuffing her skin rocked the mare's body to the very bones with cold; and as she let out a rattled sigh as her breath whisped up in steam she was reminded why she needed to pay better attention so she could be home with her loved ones warm...instead of out here in the woods - cold and alone. The chattering of her bone muzzle echoing only faintly along with the sound of the pouring rain.

The sickly mare wondered if her brother was out looking for her, dear Iki'ryo had always been her rock, her shelter from life's harshness. However as of late she realized what a burden she was...she couldn't rely on her big brother forever and wanted to find a pacing of her own. "Foolish..." She breathed, her cheek resting against the cold stone as her half lidded eyes scanned the area around her as the downpour continued relentlessly.

Hisako was too weak.

Tucking her four wings as tightly as she could around her petite frame she braced herself for a long night ahead. It was most likely near midnight already...and the more she thought of it - the mare realized it could have been worse. She could have been faced to face with some true monsters of the night like evil Kalona or skinwalkers. It was enough to ward off nature alone.....let alone predators towards even the likes of her.

As lightning flashed above and lit up parts of the forest in a brilliant instance, Hisako folded her ears back and prepared for the loud rattle of thunder which was sure to follow.

It was not a very good time to be wandering the outdoors. Her had gotten stuck in a storm foolishly and was paying the price. The rain did not bother hi much though neither did the thunder. The rains came to clean the forest leaving it smelling refreshed and alive. He had been through many things in his short life but was wise and knowing. Perhaps he could put that on his mother who had taught him many things. He always seemed to meet someone on his travels and he wondered if he would encounter anyone else stuck in this storm.

The lightning was flashing and he could make out shapes here and there under the cloud cover. He then noticed something up ahead moving slowly and tucked his wings in. When the lightning flashed again he saw even more strange shapes and carefully walked closer wondering what he was seeing.

It wasn't much, but even under the constant strain of her ears trying to pick out sounds amongst the rain she hear it. Something. Someone. Flicking her head slowly as eyes scanned out into the night it wasn't until the lightning flashed across the skies did the other figure fall into her sights; and boy did he stick out amongst the darkness like a sore thumb.

At first the mare wondered if it was but an apparition, with how white the figure larger frame was. The closer his steps brought him she could pick out more and more thanks to her keen part angeni eyes; wings, mane, and tail....Oh no.

Someone had spotted her and was heading her way!

With a hitched breath she quickly turned so her right side was tucked tightly against the rocks; hoping to hide her bone exposed leg. Her wings unfurled from her side to hide her face; only peering out with her ruby eyes just over the arm of her feathered wing.

Did he see? Hopefully not....she could hear his scream in her ears already. There was little she could to about the bone of her tail, or even her demonic horns protruding from her head...but her maw. Her maw scared others the most. Yet the closer he got, the more her heart thudded painfully against her chest; please...oh please let him not be of ill intent! She was having enough problems with the storm alone. Once she was sure he was in earshot, kindly and gentle vocals rang out in the night hidden behind her wings as a shield from view.

"Hello...can I help...you?" Hisako waited, ears folded back against her mane as her nervousness clearly showed in her posture as she huddled.

As he got closer he was able to tell that the figure was an angeni mare. He wondered what she would be doing out here in the rain. She appeared to be pitch black just as he was pure white. Squinting through the darkness he walked closer to her but she seemed to be..afraid. He wondered what was going on as he saw she had now covered herself with her wings as if hiding herself from him. He would never hurt another being and he did not look evil at all. Why why she trying to hide from him? Was she hurt or wounded..? He needed to find out what was wrong with this mare or if she was just shy of others. The rain was still pouring down and so as he walked closer he spread his wings out and put one over the angeni who was sheliding herself no really from the rain but from view. He was standing further away from her and let his wing span stretch out to cover her form. He hoped she would not be alarmed at his gesture and think he was trying to harm her. He did not want to see her though getting socked no matter who she was.

He could notice a few strange details now every time the lightning lighted up the area. He noticed something sharp sticking out from her head and her tail..what was her tail..? He was not afraid though only more wondering of who he had just stumbled upon. He had to straign his ears to hear her voice in the storm.

"Help me..? How can i help you..? I do not want to..harm you but why are you hiding..? I am not someone who would..seek to hurt you.." he nods at that his eyes trained on her covered form.

Hisako's eyes widened a little wider as the stallion got even closer, not stopping till he was but a step or two away as she subconsiously leaned a little more into the rocks; knowing she had nowhere to go. This didn't however mean she was thinking of escaping, for the mare knew it would probably be the one before her to run away. They always did, even as a child.

In truth the mare thought he was quite a sight, and reminded her of the snow of the past season; so crisp and light. She was about to speak out again when his wing stretched out and she flinched by pure instinct; only to look up in awe as she rain no longer hit against her flank and instead pattered against his outstretched wing overhead. How....why? The experience was beyond her; but she kept her wings close over the lower half of her face, her leg still behind the other as if to hide from view.

"Help...?" She echoed, finding her voice a little stronger as she cleared her throat of the nervousness. "I mean.....sorry...I am not used to such kindness as your offering." Truthful words rang strong, but not with resentment - it was life for her really.

Looking up to the grand white stallion she still felt her brain scrambles for a logical explanation to why...why would the spirits of fate send her someone so...kind? Was it a test? "I'm hiding from....the rain! I'm not good with storms and got caught out here before I could make it home. Its....safer out of sight, there are some bad creatures in these woods..." Skinwalkers, even. She'd heard the whispers of others, voices in the woods she dare not get close to least they assumed she too was a monster. "I am glad that you are not one of them, how lucky of me." Her eyes softened as if she was smiling; despite none of the muscles in her cheeks moving from the limited view thanks to her wing still feverishly blocking her snout.

He could not help all the questions coming to him of this mare. He could not figure out why she would still be standing there hiding when he was not at all evil. Why had she not tried to run if she was afraid of him? He would not follow her if she ran because he knew some things could not be helped. She seemed to be pulling her wings tighter around herself every moment they stood there. He was confused by this starting to wonder if she really was hurt or sick. He would not run if she was if he had been full uni he would of tried to heal her but he had very little in him. He glanced around wishing the rain would stop that the sun would come out and reveal this strange figure to him.

He was getting rained on but he did not care since he loved the rain. Right now all he wanted to do was help this strange mare. He nodded at her now " Yes..i only want to help you..you seem afraid..are you hiding from me..or from the world..?" his mother had been that way once hiding herself from everything afraid others would run if they knew what she saw. Most of them did and that had left her cold and broken. Was this the case with this mare? Was she scared that if he saw her he would run? "If you are trying to hide youself..please there is no reason to..i have seen and been through many things..i do not fear you or am i afraid of what you might be..if anything but a aa gentle mare.." he can tell by her tone and expression in it that she is not someone who would hurt him. If she had wanted to she already would of attacked he knew that. "Not used to kindness..? Neither am i.." he gazes at her form again. "I can help you get out of the rain..but only if you let me..i promise i will help you..i can feel you are only a lost and confused soul..much like myself..someone seeking a purpose in this cold world.." his tail flicks and he looks off into the distance. "I am equally lucky you are not a evil creture..that would rather eat me than talk.." he offers her a smile "I can tell you not the type.."

Hisako was left in disbelief at the kindness of the stallion before her even if he was staring merely in wonder but it left her a little unsettled, Mott of less wondering if he could see the hideous bone behind her pretty wingspand. Yet as he leaned closer and the rain continued its downpour around them and rattling on his wing he'd used to give her shelter she thought long and hard on what her next choice would be.

"A little of both, if I was being honest with myself and you." She admitted, dipping her head slightly as she could feel the tears burn at her eyes the more he kept talking. It wasn't that she was sad or scared, oh no, she was simply blown away at just how kind this stranger was being to her. "Alright..I...won't hide."

Hesitant in the way she slowly slipped her wings down to expose her face for what it was she folded them tightly against her sides. Stepping away from the wall she leaned into him slightly to expose her leg as well and of course get under the protection of his wing. Look down as her cheeks burned in embarrassment the mate wondered what he would say. "If you are true I'm your word and still willing to help...I'll take all I can get. The rain hurts my face a lot despite the wrappings..." Blinking up at him she folded her ears her expression looking like she was smiling if she had lips to do so.

It was still raining down on them no matter how much he wished it away. He looked up into the sky still hoping the rain would stop or lessen its force. He was still standing there in the same position have no problems at all. He was used to standing still for long periods of time. He would drift off into thought and not relise how much time passed. He was wondering still why he seemed to meet others in the worst of times like now. He met others when they needed help but he never met anyone who had a happy history. He was not drawn to the horses who had a good life and who were content. He was drawn to those who were struggling who needed someone to believe in them. It was odd the way he felt but it was true. Like this mare he felt compelled to help her and sure enough it turned out she needed something or another.

Glancing around again he hears her speak and turns his attention back to her. "So you are hiding from me..and hiding from the world..being honest..is hard to do sometimes..i have to admit that" he was staring at her from again taking in her wings admiring her form. His ears perk up then and he eyes her closely after he hears she wont hide anymore. "Thank you for believing me..and not running..i thought you would flee from me but your still here...." he is looking at her intently as her wings slowly come down and she revels herself.

He does not even flinch or move not even bothering to back away. No expression of terror crosses his face instead a smile forms on it. "That is why you wished to hide..?" he takes in her appearance in awe of her face and her leg wanting to know her story her history. She reminded him or her mother of the spirits. "You should never be afraid of yourself or what others think..i was the same way but hiding does us no good..i to once wished to hide myself..I think you..beautiful.." he could see past her looks and he knew she had a pure personality despite everything. "I am not saying this to please you..Thank you for showing me who you are..a stunning mare..i can see why others would run but they just dont understand.." he pushes closer to her letting his wings folds over hers and her body. "I hope you wont mind me sheltering you from the rain..I want to keep the rain from hitting you..you say it hurts.." he looks into her eyes and sees she is a pure soul trapped in a body that might not be fitting. "My word is always true.." he smiles at her again "Come on..lets go find someplace to talk..and get out of this rain.." he starts walking slowly wanting to keep her under the shelter of his wings. "You should know..im the opposite of you..i may look pure but i am not all what i appear to be.."

"I hide to protect...to save both myself and others. I don't want to scare anyone, but it happens when you look like me." The mare admitted, her eyes downcast while her tail swayed only slightly as it weirded her out to see the bone of her spine move. . Hisako wasn't large like her family, or had flames for hair or spikes as weapons....was a great Angeni or a warrior kalona. At the end of the day she was just her, the fragile little half breed locked in pain of her mere existence. Yet...things changed bit by hit as he...well he thanked her for for not fleeing and keeping company with him.

"Of course it is...I am missing half of my face, and most of my leg....and my tail is a mess..." Really, while Hisako was alright knowing it was a part of her which would never change - it didn't mean that the thought of it made her uneasy and hopeful for what would become of her life. Perhaps her purpose lay in supporting her family, being the heart which kept them all together and full of life. Her handsome brother...beautiful sister...they were simply amazing and she couldn't have asked for any better. Inhaling sharply she snapped her head up to him as her bewildered eyes studied him.

Did he just say...? No, she must have heard wrong.

"I just don't want to scare anyone! Its so hard when they run away, kids scream....I would rather hide than cause that on anyone." Hisako was quick to respond, that was until he called her stunning...in which then she realized he had called her a beauty. With burning red cheeks as she felt a few warm droplets slide down her face in tune with the few drops which got through the feathers of his wings she lifted one of her wings to wipe both tears and rain from her face. "You are...much to kind - and I don't even know your name..." It was truth, it was hard to swallow that there were kind, understanding and gentle souls outside her own family out there.

Willing to look past what fate dealt her.

"My name is Hisako..." She offered, before nodding her head and sticking close to him as he slowly began to walk - greatful that he kept the rain off her face. "I would like that....and really? Perhaps it was judgemental for me to think those who look fine on the outside are such..." The mare twisted her ears back, sending him an apologetic look. "What ails you?"
PostPosted: Mon Apr 29, 2013 6:09 pm

"When i look at you..i see a kind soul that might be trapped in a body not representing you.." he looks at her again "Hiding to protect yourself and others..i know someone that had the same way of thinking.." he is thinking of his mother though she has improved now. She used to be that way though and still was wary of the world still hid her face. He himself was the middle sibling of his three brothers. None of them were able to see the spirits but he knew they still decided his fate and controlled his life or tried to. It was hard to trust in something that could not be seen. He wanted to learn more about this mare and comfort her in a way. Show her that those who run were those who did not deserve to know her. They were true cowards to run from someone thoughtful and kind. Looks did not matter it was what was inside that did.

"If i looked the way you looked..i would never hide myself the ones who run..are only judging based off looks..they would never care about personality..I do understand you though..it must be hard to have to hide yourself..from the world but i understand..i am wondering though why you have come to look the way you do..I do understand if you do not wish to speak of it though..some things can be hard to talk about..i still think you are wonderful though.." he nods at her and looks around once more.

"I do not know what to say...i cant imagine what it must be like..to live that way.." he shakes his head feeling at a loss of words for what this mare had to go through. "I am kind..? I think you are the kind one..thank you though for saying that..I mean everything i say from your face to your leg..to your tail..i am not horrified but instead i am in awe..of your beauty your personality.." he takes in her name and then offers his "My name is Titan..yes i have been misunderstood for a long time..my mother can see spirits..i can but yet they have set some path for me..it it so hard to believe what i cant see..believe they are guiding me when i feel so lost.."

"Someone like me?" How alone she had felt, aside from her siblings. It never occurred to her that out there may be someone like her who also hid, be it the way they looked or how they felt deep down. Her mind reeled in what he had to say, to let it truly sit and fester as they walked through the downpour; truth be told she was still amazed that he was so willing to help as the mare would have been stuck till the rain passed over.

"You are a stronger soul than I am, then." She breathed out, watching it wisp around in front of her face.

Hisako felt her breath hitch a little, racking her mind for the answer. "I don't mind.." She began, looking a little pensive as she tried to remember. "I'm not entirely sure, to be honest. I was told that when my siblings and I were born we were offspring of a strange event...a twisted tunnel. I think something happened during that time...but I have also been told it was misfortune of a disease. To whether its connected with the tunnel or not its happened; luckily we had help and could clamp my leg as a child before it reached my heart; my face...well, the bandages had been blessed my an angeni in my travels; it doesn't help much, just keep the pain at bay. I can't get it wet though, it really stings the open wounds."

"You must jest..." Surely, surely he couldn't think that highly of her! "But you are! You haven't run...and say such kindness. Not to mention you are helping me stay dry..." He was nothing short to her than a knightly soul, "Titan suits you....such a strong name." Looking around in the rain she wondered if they would come across some kind of shelter; but as the storm continued on and rumbled above them she wasn't sure what would come their way. "Spirits....that must be some power!" Hisako spoke in awe, making sure to keep up and stay close to the stallion. "Im sure they are...forces of fate can be very strange; but everything happens for a reason. Im sure spirits which follow you will push you towards something grand! Besides...I like to believe that those who show kindness and good will lead to good fortune."

"My mother..yes she was like you..she has improved much but at a time she was just like you..she hid from the world behind a mask..I understand her though and i understand you.." his words are true he learned much from his mother and he became her shoulder to lean on after his father left. He had to get stronger for her and not let anything get to him being the one to comfort her and offer advice. His past may have been unavoidable but he could choose his own future. "Stronger than you are..? We can only be as strong as we let ourselves be..We all have an equal chance of being who we choose to..It is not about who is stronger or weaker.."

His attention is drawn elsewhere for a moment as they still slowly make there way through the rain. "A twisted tunnel..? I have never heard of such a thing..either way it was not a misfortune it was just the way you were ment to be..even if you could go back those events would still unfold..I am glad though that it did not spread..I would never have been able to meet you..It is funny the way things work..it feels like the end but then your saved..but you have also lost something.." he keeps looking ahead hoping to spot a cave or someplace to stop and rest. "Why would i run from you..? You have shown no reason for me to run..you are not evil have not attacked me..of course i am going to help you..i would not leave you out in the rain to suffer.." he nods at that and smiles to himself "I think you name is also fitting..I might be helping you to help myself..and you at the same time..running from the past is not a very good way to live..Good fortune..? The spirits have already separated me from the one i thought i loved..they showed me she was not the one..i have been seeking since then to find my true goal..am i even meant to love anyone?" he stops and looks into her eyes searching to see if any sort of feeling comes to him a feeling of meaning or purpose. "The spirits are leading me on a never ending chase..i wish i could find my purpose..i am wondering if its you.." he keeps gazing into her eyes becoming aware of nothing else but her the noise of the rain hut out of his mind.

"I do feel a connection..i can feel something deep within myself..its a strange feeling..I have not felt this before.." He feels a strong impulse as if its telling him this mare does have something to do with his fate. He stands there still and focus her even more intnelty.

"A mask...?" Hisako blinked, almost as if in a daze. Why, oh why hadn't she thought of that? However it wasn't true of her to hide away behind a mask for her purpose to get others to not run from her. It would work...but what would she do when they wanted to know what was under the mask? She felt her heart go out for his mother, although she didn't know too much about her aside from the spirits bit to hide away was a bit of a kinship bond - whatever her reason may be.

"Thats true! I am not sure the details, I never bothered to dig into it but that happened around the time my siblings and I were conceived so im sure even if it wasn't around; the disease would have shown up. That's the most logical reasoning I have." When he spoke of he was happy it didn't take her life for the reason this little meeting of her face flushed, once again having never heard such a thing from someone not in her little family. "I have reasons to be greatful though, I have the ability to nuzzle my siblings without getting hurt; for my brother's mane is fire and my sister has painful spikes protruding from her. Luckily you can't burn bone that easily." Smiling brightly, her eyes sparkled as if she was smiling from the heart, oh how she adored her siblings like no other and it made her feel as if she was perhaps put this way just so they too could experience love in the form of a simple touch.

Hisako stopped as Titan did, wondering what was the matter as he turned his head and stared rather intently at her. While he spoke of a lost love she felt her own heart skip a beat, how awful! "I'm so sorry..." She murmured quickly, she'd never felt love, so didn't know what if was like to lose it even if it wasn't as he said the 'one' true love. "It hurts either way, I would think. The bonds we make with others are important, no matter the intensity or status of them."

However that all changed when he pondered aloud if it was perhaps an act of fate that she could be his purpose. Eyes wide in surprise she felt her face go red, feeling her teeth chatter as she stammered out. "I....I surely can't be. How dismal would it be to have a purpose like the likes of me..." No, the spirits couldn't be that mean to someone, especially not someone so kind and lovely as he. Perhaps Hisako should have had a little more self worth, but how could one hold it against the mare when a good chunk of her life consisted of pain and hiding, finding love and solace only at the protected side of her family? Surely, the spirits could not be so kind to her - she already had a loving family...that surely was enough.

Or was it?

She wouldn't deny, the sight of those in love were so lovely to see....but such a notion for herself was so, so far out of her fathoming that she couldn't believe what he said. "You will find love, Titan. I know it." The mare gazed at him, a hint of sadness in her eyes which she quickly adverted. "There probably is a wonderful and beautiful mare out there looking for you too!" As her chest clenched with emotion, the little mare nodded her head. "I am grateful though that she spirits allowed me to meet you..." However, the mare knew she'd save him too from herself - for what kind of life would it be if she wanted him by her side...how burdensome to look after someone like she, despite the ideas her heart showed in her heads.

Some were just meant to be alone, and Hisako knew she fell under such a category.

"She wore a mask of an animal unknown to me..a mask of its skull..She does still wear it but can be seen without it more often these days.." His mother had opened up since finding herself a true mate and felt happy for her. The news had traveled to him somehow and he knew she had found someone. He had not seen her recently but he hoped he would soon so he could meet her new mate. All he wanted was for her to be happy and to him he was happy.

"I do not know how you cold know the truth..there is an explanation out there but mine is as good as yours..It happened for a reason..perhaps so that we would cross paths..I am not drawn to normal being with everything they could ever want..i am drawn those those who suffer those who seek comfort..i will provide it.." he was talking about her directly and hoped she could figure that out. "Your siblings sounds loving despite your various problems..my siblings are all but normal and i never felt fond of either of them.." he sighs laughing slightly at the fact that a mare such as herself had more happiness and meaning than he ever did.

"You suffer from a curse and yet you are happy..content..it is nice to see your bright outlook despite your past.." he smiles at her still feeling a connection with her. he looks back into her eyes feeling that strange feeling again drawn to her..yet being pushed away at the same time. "There is no need to be sorry..it is clear she was not the one for me..i assume you might be" he takes a leap of faith there not know what her reaction would be him falling for someone so cursed. "What makes you so sure your not..? Having my purpose be you would be a true honor.." he inclines her head to her offering a bow. "Do you feel what i feel..? This strange bond..this connection..? And then the feeling of being pushed away but the pull to each other being stronger..?" he would not leave her not like this.

"I will find love..? I already have.." he gazes back at her shaking his head. "You are blind if you cannot see if you cannot feel this..i can..i would like to say your the mare that has been seeking me..i do not wish you to run from me though..the spirits led me to you for a reason..to help you..to guide you..and i think to show me that i can choose my own fate..they dont want me to love you..but.." he shakes his head again "Im willing to take the punishment..i am choosing my own path.." he would not let the spirits drive him away from this mare. He was going to be there for her and nothing was going to change his mind.

Hisako smiled momentarily, nodding her head as she listened to him explain. "Thats good on her, it sounds like she has gained some peace if she is free to show herself without the mask." For someday, she too hoped to be free to approach others without judgement, without guilt on her behalf. To not be judged, screamed at and feared. Such a dream she wondered if it would ever become reality. The mare wondered momentarily why he was drawn to soul such as she; especially when she knew how solitude often was a curse in its own and one she lived in knowing it was well...best.

However as he spoke of her siblings she felt the warmth radiate in her soul, for whenever she thought of her family...her siblings in specific she was just filled with all the love she could muster blossoming. "They are...they've done so much; protected me, aided me, shown me that I was still alive even though bits of me were taken. I owe them everything...and they are my world." However she caught herself rambling and blushed. "Sorry...however that's saddening - I couldn't imagine feeling anything less than that for my siblings even if they were normal. Hopefully you may be able to kindle some relationship with them. There is nothing like it."

As Titan spoke of her outlook she felt her innards clench, the butterflies in her stomach relentless as she became almost hyper aware of her surroundings. The rain splashing, how close they stood; the breath creating a swirl of mist with each breath they took. The way he looked at her alarmed her, more or less because she could feel her own heart skip a beat. No...she couldn't let this happen. He was too nice, despite all he said warmed her very soul and for a moment....made her feel like a normal mare swooning.

Reality, though, was that she wasn't.

"I can't let you, Titan." Hisako spoke, her eyes burning with the tears threatening to fall. "I feel something, but I can't let you go on. The spirits guide us for a reason....perhaps they were kind in showing me it was possible someone could find me well...likeable; even in appearance." It hurt to speak the truth, to continue to push away...but she didn't want him to befall his fate; to get entwined with the tragedy which was her. "I don't want to see you get hurt, to get punished for having feelings for me. I accept that I am not meant for the same happiness as normal mares; I should not have foals least anything gets passed on...nor should I hold any stallion back for real happiness."

Hisako couldn't help it as she leaned up against him, resting her cheek on his neck as a tear or two slipped down her cheek. "Yet i'll be okay...I am happy for what I have, and I accept what I can't have. Please understand...Being with me will only bring more tragedy - and I don't want that to happen to you."
