Hel never forgot being put into a situation where she was powerless…oh…she never forgot.
That’s why she was getting her revenge today. Oh…she was also helping her ‘deal’ so to speak with Shun. That too. Today was a good day to whoop Shun’s a** with what she was knowledgeable about…
So thus Hel came walking out of Mac’s room, carrying his birch oar on her shoulder. After a lot of pestering and flashing the reaper (even more) cleavage, she was able to get him to let her borrow his weapon…without being an a** and de-summoning it on her either. She figured she’d let Shun borrow her spear…and really, Mac’s weapon was the closest in shape, form, and weight to hers, so it was logical to use it.
Hel skipped up the stairs, and made her way to the Grim’s room, where she made a fist and knocked.

Just as the last time, Shun had happened to be doing sit ups when he heard a knocking at his door. There was no voice to accompany it this time around, however. With a sense of curiosity, he pushed himself up to his feet and opened up, noticing Hel standing there with what looked like a giant oar.
"..Planning on rowing?"

Hel just grinned when Shun answered the door. “Uh, YA!” She cried. “I plan on rowing your a**!” Did that even make sense? It was probably best not to think about it.
In her free hand, Hel summoned her spear, and then held it out to the Grim. “Training day today, Smiles, let us get this show on the road…or…roof, in this case.”

Shun stared at her for a moment or so.
"Please keep your oversized spanking paddle to yourself," he said in a flat tone, though he raised a brow as she summoned her spear and held it out to him.
"..Very well then." he nodded, then went to get his things, then taking the spear.

The reaper laughed. “Shun! It is not an oversized spa—“ She immediately stopped short, and then stared at the paddle part of the oar, her face going flat.
…
Anyways…
Once Shun got his things and took her spear, the reaper spun on her heel and started to lead him up to the roof. “Now, this is not like your little piddly short knives…” The ghoul started lecturing, “This is a mid-ranged weapon that is not effective at all being up close…offensively, anyways.”

While he followed Hel up towards the roof, Shun was looking over the spear in his hand. It was heavier than his daggers of course, though at that little shot towards his blades, he gave a rather stern look towards the Valkyrie.
"I'm more accustomed to fighting those with that sort of range rather than using it myself," he said. He was well aware that such weapons had trouble at close range... due to the fact that he would try to exploit this when fighting them.

“That is good then!” Hel replied, glancing at the reaper over her shoulder. “It means you know the gap to look out for.” Once on top of the roof, Hel took a spot some distance away, but didn’t start instructing just yet, instead, she took a moment to just twirl the oar around, getting a better feel for it. It really was like her spear…just a wee bit different because of the asymmetrical handle on the end, but not all that different.
“So…” Hel started. “These kinds of weapons are best for these kinds of attacks…” Taking the oar into both hands, she made the motions as she named them. “Thrust, slash, swipe, sweep, push, block, pierce aaand vault…” She grinned at the last one.

Once on the roof, Shun gripped onto the shaft of the spear, watching Hel as she demonstrated and named the basics.
"Vault.. hm?" he repeated with a raised brow. Though he soon went on to repeat the motions she had just shown him. He had a little bit of experience from the war island, but it still was a foreign thing for him to be wielding. He could feel his strikes being slower and somewhat clumsier.

“Ya!” Hel replied with a grin. “See…watch this!” The ghoul moved back a bit, and readied the oar. She then took a bit of a run and used the oar like a vaulting pole. She lifted herself into the air, going quite a distance before she landed on her feet, shoulder the weapon. “Great for maneuvering yourself out of incoming attacks…and well, clearing heights.” She had done her fair share of climbing with her spear, oddly enough.
“You can do things like this too!” She tossed up the oar and caught the end of it, and then spun in complete circle, the weapon outstretched. “That is good for pushing and clearing opponents away from you!”

Shun carefully watched as Hel demonstrated the vault, then the spin attack. He nodded, understanding how they could be used. Taking a step back, he went on and repeated the actions as well. After doing the spin attack, he performed a number of the other strikes, getting a good feel for the speed and whatnot.
"Interesting.."

Much like before…Hel would let the reaper get accustomed to doing the strikes and swings and what not…but the real training of it would of course come from actually battling.
Walking Shun through the steps seemed rather stupid, after all, and one learned better through application! “Got any questions before we start?” Hel asked, grinning. “I might answer.”

Shun turned towards her, then looked over the spear some more. He was thinking of if he had any questions, but quite frankly, nothing came to mind.
"None," he said before getting into a sort of stance. He could only assume that by 'start' she meant to start sparring. There wasn't a whole lot else that she could mean by that really.

Hel, probably, honestly could have done a bit more in prepping Shun on how to properly use a pole arm…but nah. She was just focused on showing him up and getting to it, now. Even with only one eye and just the basics, she was certain he’d be a challenge…but of course she’d have the upper hand. Of course. Just the way she liked it.
The ghoul spun the oar one more before she got into her starting stance, spacing her feet with her dominant side pointing towards Shun and the head of the oar pointed at him as well. She just grinned, and then she started. The ghoul lunged at him, and thrust the oar out at him, aiming for his med section. “You can block and parry and counter with this as well~” Was the only semi-helpful thing she said.

Staring her down, he saw her lunging at him. Shun hopped to the side, just barely dodging the stab. After doing this, he swung the spear sideways. This first strike was more of a test rather than an actual attack, to try and get a better idea of his range. It felt a little unwieldy to him, and he needed to get more of an idea of the ideal strike zone was for this weapon if he was going to use it properly.

Hel grinned as Shun immediately jumped to the side. Good! He was such a quick study…
She immediately brought up the oar perpendicular to the spear, blocking his strike, and much like he had been telling her during their last training…she was about to counter. She pushed the weapon back with the oar, and swung the birch weapon down and around quickly, aiming to sweep him off to the side by his mid-section again.
