Dark side: Rhazes

Quote:
For whatever reason, you are on Eowyn. Perhaps you have come looking for Kiandri or Firani Dragons to kill, perhaps you have come to steal Drakein eggs, or maybe you are just exploring this dry land.

As you wander the desert you spot a strange cave entrance in the side of a sand dune. When you go to investigate you can see that after the tunnel goes down somewhat there is a stone door engraved with Drakein figures.

If you knock on the door continue reading, otherwise leave and do not continue this adventure.

You hear a grumbling and muttering form the other side as whoever lives here comes to open the door.

Before you stands a strange reptilian looking man. He looks more dragon than man, and behind his back float two ethereal skulls.

If you have a bonded with you, he attacks and you must flee before his power! He does not condone Magescians who enslave his people. You must quit or choose a different path. If there are no Bonded with you, then continue reading.

"What d'ya want?" he growls grumpily,

I’ve got things to do and no time for foolish games." he pauses and thinks for a moment. "Actually, on second thought...I do have a use for you."

He grins malevolently and reaches out to grab your arm and drag you into his lair. His room has spikes hanging from the ceiling, fur rugs cover his floors and trophies line his walls. There are no chairs, only large cushions and low tables in the room.

"I need three ingredients for an enchantment I'm creating. And you, fool, will get them for me! I haven't the time for these pitiful errands...there is a situation that requires my attention to be here. If you wish to leave here alive you will do as I say; otherwise, I'll have my minions hunt you down and you don't want to know what they'll do." he says as he gestures to the floating skulls behind him.

"Just so you know, I am not completely heartless. If you complete the tasks I have in store for you, I'll let you live and give you a Dragon Orb...possibly even a Dragon's Tear as well for your efforts." he states as he smirks cruelly at you.

Go to Task 1.

Erionda squinted, raising her left hand to block the flurry of sand. Wind seemed to whip up all around her making walking around Eowyn blindingly difficult for the young girl. She had stubbornly sneaked onto the ship Aquon was boarding intent on following him to meet this strange maker he spoke about. To her disgust she had fallen asleep and woken up at the dusty port. Her long pale pink hair had been tied back to protect it from painfully knotting up in the wind.

Blinking through to clear some of the sand from her long lashes. Erionda found a small cave in the rocks up ahead. Bright curiosity filled her as she hurried forward. Finding the pathway into the cave welcoming and unwelcoming at the same time. Curiosity pulled her deeper down the path. Her eyes dancing from one Drakein figure to the next. These creatures were not new to her eyes. Aquon had a Diabi by his side all the time and assisted with her training. Stumbling upon the large door at the base Erionda paused biting the inside of her lower lip.

Knocking on the door tentatively, regretting her actions at the sounds that came from the other side. Before she had a chance to back away and change her mind the door was opened by a strange creature Erionda had not seen before. Amazed at the sight Erionda forgot her pose, her jaw lowering into a large O. Startled at the words Erionda corrected herself with a soft cough.

"I... I uh."
Erionda stumbled on her words, completely taken in by the strange new being. Glad he was already talking saving her from further embarrassment. Reopening her mouth to respond to her surprise, Erionda found herself yanked forward through the door.

No one had wanted her help before. She had Orderite essence in her which most dovaa strove to avoid. Did this humanoid being not care? Blinking at the figure Erionda nodded enthusiastically. Someone needed her to do something. Usually she was the one to get others to do small tasks, but the strange Humanoid had asked her. Grateful for the opportunity to no longer be alone for the time being Erionda found herself listening intently to his instructions.

Task One

He demands you bring back some Dark Sand from around the Twilight Pillar.
User Image

This will take IC time to get there and back. Feel free to RP whatever adventures or misadventures you have along the way.

Roll 1d100.
1-20: Failure! You get the sand but as you go back to Rhazes, disaster strikes and the container is broken and the sand blows away in the wind. Go to Failure.

21-99: Success! You get the sand and return to Rhazes. You may choose to give the sand to him or say you failed (if you do this you keep the sand). Go to Success if you give it to him. Go to Failure if you keep it.

100: You get 2 of the item! You may choose to keep them both or give one to Rhazes. Go to Success if you give one to him. Go to Failure if you keep both.

Erionda wandered back out into the dry land. The task heavy on her mind. She hadn't heard of such a place before, and asking for help was sure to be painfully difficult. Covering her eyes with her hands, Rio licked her lips in the sandy air. Shuddering at the bitter taste of the sand. She was sure that by now the sand would be no more than air to her or water. The taste was still a shock to her.

It had taken Erionda several days before she managed to find her way to the pillar. Having to buckle up her nerve and ask various Magescians for directions. Never before had Erionda felt so grateful for the majority of her appearance remaining a Dovaa. The small Hybrid had no inkling that soon her features would change and give away her hybrid nature.

Falling to her knees on the sand she was supposed to gather Erionda scooped up the vial full. Her eyes watching the lack of shimmer in the sand. Finding her way back to Rhazes was easier with her heart light having accomplished the task.

Knocking before approaching Erionda bowed respectfully, offering up the vial of sand she had collected for the new and unknown being.

Task Two

He laughs and sends you all the way back to Soudul with the task of going to Lake Koralifel and bring back some of its dark waters.

Roll 1d100.
1-20: Failure! You get the water but as you go back to Rhazes, disaster strikes and the container is broken and the water drains away into the ground. Go to Failure.

21-99: Success! You get the water and return to Rhazes. You may choose to give the water to him or say you failed (if you do this you keep the water). Go to Success if you give it to him. Go to Failure if you keep it.

Erionda's feet kicked as she moved. Since the last time she had seen the Drakeinian, her features had changed. Erionda's Heterochromatic eyes now bore a more physical resemblance to the hybrid she was. Thankful she had learned the path towards Soudul it hadn't taken her too long to accomplish her task with the help of Lanzecki and Uassae she quickly gathered the water and returned the reptilian man. Keeping note to leave Uassae and Lanzecki at home when she went to deliver the item he had requested. Something about her warned against bringing her bonded companions with her. No matter how much she loved them.

Task Three

For his last task he tells you to go out into the desert and find the strange construction site that the Orderites have been working at. He tells you that near the site a very special herb grows that he wants you to pick. The herb is small, dark green, and has very spiky stem with spiky leaves at it's top. It's called Thistlethorn.

Rol 1d100.
1-20: Failure! You search but can’t find the herb. Go to Failure.

21-99: Success! You find the herb and return to Rhazes. You may choose to give the plant to him or say you failed (if you do this you keep the spiky herb). Go to Success if you give it to him. Go to Failure if you keep it.

100: You get 2 of the item! You may choose to keep them both or give one to Rhazes. Go to Success if you give one to him. Go to Failure if you keep both.

As Rhazes finished speaking Erionda beamed quietly to herself. She had traveled Eowyn well and knew of the site he spoke of. A shawl wrapped tightly around her body to protect the bare skin on her arms and legs from the harsh pricking sand storms. The hybrids mismatched eyes were locked in the direction she was traveling. Pausing here and there to raise a hand to block the flying sand from causing trouble to her eyes.

The site hadn't taken long to locate, and Erionda had secretly hoped she could avoid talking with the local Orderites. Just because a fraction of her blood belonged to them didn't make them any friendlier towards her than the Dovaa. Coughing as some of the sand flew into her mouth, Erionda shook her head. She had been told the plants Rhazes was seeking grew in these parts. Did he mean right up against the stones? Erionda winced at the thought pressing closer to the construct without being seen. People always suspected the worst with a hybrid like her around.

Grinding her teeth as her eyes scanned over the sand Erionda felt frustration. Until now the tasks had seemed rather simple to complete. There seemed to be no obvious outcrop of growing plants in the area. Kicking her feet at the wall with a wince Erionda's eyes grew wide.

A strong breeze blew against the sand she had just stirred up, uncovering a small plant similar to the one Rhazes was looking for. Bending down Erionda hastily scooped it up into her hands. Proud of her ability to find the desired item. Scuffing her feet in the sand Erionda turned towards Rhazes' cave and bolted back to turn in the leaves. Bursting through the door panting Rio held out the items for him.

Quote:
If Rhazes received all 3 you get the Diabli Orb and a Ysali Dragon's Tear. He says that perhaps you might be useful in the future. If Rhazes only received 2 out of 3 items then you receive an Aiskala Orb instead and he sighs and says while useful, you aren’t worth more of his time than he has already given you. If he gets only one item then you only get a Firani Orb and he growls in disgust about how pathetic and useless you are. He then kicks you out into the desert and says that you need more training before you are worth more of his time. If he gets nothing he roars on and on about useless meat bags and how stupid and worthless a Magescian/you (if Drakein) is. He kicks you out after you have been yelled at or gotten your reward.

Erionda swallowed with pleasure. The accomplishment swelled within her chest, she had just been complimented by this brash man. Her hands clasped tightly around the objects he had given her. If she was given the opportunity to be useful in the future Erionda was going to jump at the opportunity to help him again. Despite his arrogant and mean temper. Starting up the stairs towards her Drakein companions Erionda boasted her pride before stuffing the items into the sack on Uassae's back. With a pat they started off towards home.
