Hello everyone!
Just wanted to go over a couple things for the guild that I need your input on.
So, this guild has been running since 2008, and I am happy to see that it has still been running fairly well for the past few years. Since that time, we have had many great Role Players, awesome story lines, wicked plots, and just a really great story develop!
Unfortunately... we've also had many great Role Players drop out of existence that have been a big part of some of the main plots. At least... their characters have not moved in months. This causes some plots to be put on hold, as well as tie up a lot of characters that could potentially go to a more active Role Player.
Because we have only had one thread going on for the past few years, and a neglected SHIELD File thread, many new members are utterly lost as far as the plot goes. The numerous locations that are unused also seem to be a little intimidating to new members.
So... here is my question:
Should I take one of the blank threads, and turn it into a “Rebooted” Role Play?
By that, I mean leave the Main Role play going as it is, and open up a new “Rebooted” world for everyone. Start from the beginning, different plot, different events, all “kidnapped” and “missing” characters open for everyone to play, etc.
If I do this, it should open up all characters for everyone to play. That means, Spiderman, Superman, and the others would be able to be out and about in the world again. All of the characters that just aren't in the Main Role Play at the moment.
It also means that newer members won't have to be intimidated by all of the locations, years worth of posts and plots, etc. They can start fresh. Old members can start fresh as well.
Characters, information, and role play threads will be kept to that one page. It will be it's own forum, leaving the rest of the guild dedicated to the main story line.

The only real draw back I can see from doing this is.... more threads spamming the main page, as well as the possibility that attention will be taken away from the Main Role Play.
I usually check the main page to see if there have been any updates to threads I am involved in, and I don't want other people to think there is no updates to their thread, just because it's been bumped off of the main page or anything. I also do NOT want any more attention to be taken away from the Main Role Play as there is. There are still a few plots that I am waiting EXTREMELY patiently to move on or become active again... I don't want them to die completely.
So, dear members... what do you think?
Yes, a reboot role play forum is a good idea! No, the main role play is good enough, that would be too confusing! What do you think? Please vote or give me your opinion.

OH! And on a second note.... Contests or events, anyone?
Toss in some suggestions for and Event or Contest you'd like to have. Tektek contests have gone over well in the past.

Sounds like fun! It'll give me a chance to use Jonah more often (seeing how the three guys I originally had planned to be Hex's lackeys stole the show) and open up a new dynamic playing other charies.

How much gold does it cost to open up a new subforum? I think opening up a new subforum for a new alternate Universe would help reduce a lot of confusion as to which Universe each topic belongs to.

A new subforum costs 2500 gold for each subforum created, CBJ.
And I agree with Swampy that a new universe could help open up new ideas for characters. I've been wanting to use Brenda a bit more than I have, actually.

And at the moment, it costs close to 100 gold to send guild anouncements. But... there's enough gold in the guild to add close to 11 new subforums.
Not that I think we need that many added onto what we have, but there is plenty to add more subforums for the new role play, as well as re-orgonize the guild.
Which... is something I was planing on doing anyway. There are at least six subforums that could probably be combined, freeing up about three subforums. And there are four sub forums not in use right now. Just... kind of nice little space bars to make everything nice and pretty. ^^''
But, if I just re-arrange things, that should free up about seven sub forums. So there would be more than enough room for the rebooted role play.... as well as re-orgonize the main role play if needed.
And by that I mean have one subforum for Gotham areas, one for New York areas, one for Other areas, etc. It would organize things a little more, and give room for more areas to be added, but I've just never been sure if that was something people wanted to do either or not.

I was thinking something close to what we have now, but maybe in a subforum titled 'Alternate RP Forum' or 'Earth-2 RP Forum', something like that. That way, we'll have our 'Main RP Forum' and whatever the alternate RP forum would be called, instead of multiple subforums for the same Universe.
Of course, all of the alternate subforums could easily labelled as such, but hey, that's just my opinion.

I actually like your ideas and trust your decisions, Rosie. I've never known you to steer us wrong in the past.
As for the multiple sub-forums for the main RP, it would lessen the efforts to find a thread, but the transition would be murder, mainly because you'd have to shut down the main RP while you rearrange everything... Other than that it seems sound. The best thing with that idea, if you put it into place, is use it only for the reboot. That way it'll be in effect from the start and you can see if it would be worth doing that to the main later.
But that's just my opinion.

Alright, well it looks like there have been zero "No" votes, and the majority of votes do want an alternate RP forum. So... it looks like the new rebooted RP is a go.
So... here is what's going to happen / has happened:
* If you haven't noticed already, I've given the subforums a bit of a make over. I have moved some of the forums around, combined some, and basically just moved everything down some. This has given some extra blank subforums under the main RP subforum.
That way... if we do decide to put areas into their own subforums to organize better.... the subforums are already there and ready to be moved into. I will wait before I get around to doing that, because I want to put that idea up to a vote as well. But... they are there now if we ever need them.
((( If you are playing in the Arkham New Arivals RP --- It is now in the What If RP section. I left it in the subforum it was originally in, but I changed the name of the forum and moved the other RP's in with it. Actual fanfics are now below it. )))
* You may also notice that down under the Character profiles, I have added three more subforums. One.... just to separate the new RP from the rest of the subforums. And the other two are for the Rebooted RP. One character page, and one RP page. I will be working on those this week to get them open and ready. With any luck... it will be open for play this weekend or sooner. I already have the rules being typed up.
* For now... I am going to leave the RP's in one subforum, as they have been for years. I am going to do that with the new RP as well. For now anyway.
I will put it to a vote if we want subforums for major locations later.
There will only be one page for Rebooted character profiles. I will be making a way to have them fairly organized still so that it's not dozens of pages to skim through.

While there are some people posting in this thread and giving some good feedback, why don't we continue talking about a Rebooted RP.
What would you new members like to see? What kind of plot would you like to have? What kind of characters would you like to be able to play or play against?
What would you veteran members like to see? New beginning plot? Take your characters in a different direction? Let them do things they wouldn't be able to do in the main RP? What characters do you own in the main RP that you want to keep, and which ones do you not care to have anymore?

UPDATE as of.... erm... today. Okay. So... yeah. Both of the Reboot threads are half set up now. * You may go to the RP forum to read up on the rules and everything. The locations are locked, and will be until we figure out what we want to do with the RP / characters / etc. * You may go to the character page and read up on the rules. Profiles will not be posted yet, but you ARE allowed to leave a post in the REQUEST thread! There you can post what characters you would like to play.... * Or what characters you ARE playing and what characters you do not want to play if you are a veteran member. If you have a long list of characters in the main, stating what ones you don't want will help me update the available characters list once everyone posts. Then the new guys can have their picks. biggrin So feel free to head over and check both of those out. Once we get the characters section figured out, I'll get around to opening up the RP. : D

Alright everyone! The characters section for the Rebooted Role Play is up and open! Please post your character requests, and what characters you want to play for this, how they'll be different from the main role play, etc.
Once we get characters situated, we'll get ready to open the role play up!

If you need gold for anything in the guild please by all means shoot me a message, I will be happy to donate anything needed to setup and maintain the forums!! I am slightly lost, and busy with school to add a lot to the main forum, especially while trying to figure out who plays which characters.
This reboot will be perfect for me!

I am slightly lost, and busy with school to add a lot to the main forum, especially while trying to figure out who plays which characters. This reboot will be perfect for me! Will do~ We should be good for a while for now, as far as purchasing forums go. If we do run low on funds, I'll try to let everyone know that we're in need of donations. And it's understandable. A lot of the newer members said that they were utterly lost the last time I sent a message out wanting more activity. As much as I had wanted to get the SHIELD files up and going for people to see summaries of each area.... the NEWSPAPER going so people could see major things that happened each month throughout the years... it's just too much work to try and accomplish at the moment. So hopefully the Reboot RP will give everyone a chance to start RPing here, if they haven't been able to in the main role play. With any luck, I'll finally manage to get things rolling as far as the Newspaper and SHIELD Files go after this thing gets going.
