Erionda felt thankful she was considered to small. It made riding on Uassae's back as he walked much easier when it came to tracking the hiding creatures on the forest. Light cuts and bruises covered the visible part of her arms and legs. Walking was even starting to hurt now and Erionda knew she had to continue to press forward, to keep searching for the second orb. It had felt like complete chance. Utter luck that she was able to find the smaller dragon and deal an ending blow. Since then, she had only come across much larger Dragons. Each more intent on killing her than the last.
She had wondered late into the night if the reason she had come across such a hard time, was because she had killed a baby. Guilt pressed inside her, forcing the hybrid to shake her head to dislodge the unsettling emotions. Dragons had to be hunted, orbs were required in this world to sustain one's being. Her mother and father were great hunters so she had to prove her worth. She had to be a great hunter.
A questioning rumble from Uassae earned him a pat on the side of his neck as he continued to track the Ysali's footprints in the soft mud. cant be far off Uassae mentioned across the bond.
Erionda was more than grateful for the way she and her older Drakein could communicate. They could move fluidly without having to vocalize things. At some points they didn't have to even speak across the bond, they knew what the other was planning. They were starting to move in synchronization with the other. Erionda smiled entertaining the idea that she could be a deadly opponent.
The sudden stop forced Erionda to look around. There, a Ysali was currently feasting on the corpse of some kill it had recently made. Erionda could smell the death and blood around the feasting creature. The hybrid gripped the primitive weapon she had come to rely so heavily on in her defenseless state. Lowering herself to the ground with a barely audible crunch, Erionda tried to move forward without sound.
Her feet had betrayed her, the beast was still in alert mode even while feasting. Cursing under her breath Erionda's heart dropped. It was larger than she had expected and still aware of her. She would likely be killed if she attacked it now. Wrinkling her nose Erionda licked her lips. She would have to keep following the dragon for a while. Perhaps it hadn't finished eating and once it was tired she could slay it?
Nodding she scrambled back up on Uassae's back. She would kill this one, but it required patience on her end.
