Park. Thursday evenings. These were among the other things that were touched on when Dallol first met Remarque almost a month ago in the evening of her awakening. Probably about time that she tried her luck at the park and see if she could snag herself a meeting with the Eternal Dark Mirror Senshi to check on how he was doing plus drop him an update on the progress she had made by far.

And boy had she quite a bit to fill him in on, having had the good fortune of befriending one Lieutenant Buddingtonite who was so impressed by her enthusiasm and ability that he had every intention of putting forth a strong recommendation for her interest in joining the Negaverse to General Benitoite whom Remarque had told her to seek out. Would the Dark Mirror Senshi be similarly impressed by the head way she had made so far within such a short span of time? Well, she certainly hoped so since she hadn't been dawdling on her feet nor deviated much from her original aim all this time whilst ensuring that she steered clear of the White Moon Senshis and Knights like herself who were very much still allied with them.

Having already completed her assignment with plenty of time to spare before she needed to turn in for the night, the young Page slipped out of the Crystal Academy dorm to make her way to her intended destination, a smile curling her lips as soon as she sensed the Chaos energy that was just up ahead. That would very likely be him then.

For quite some time, Remarque had come to think of the park as his. He shared it with others, but it was his. Especially on Thursday nights.

Most other nights of the week he had wandered off to different parts of Destiny City, pressing his luck in some of the more dangerous regions. Thursday was cool down night. He took a break from gathering energy (most of the time) and pursued socialization.

When the blip of an order signature registered on his radar, he immediately sought to close the distance between them. He wanted a break from chasing wraiths—wanted a nice chat. And with a page? That sounded fun.

He'd have preferred a senshi, but he was so starved for conversation that he'd have taken anyone—even Chaonis.

Crossing the park was easy; he walked through one mirror and popped out of another. The trek took less than a minute, but he had more than just saving time to be happy about.

"Dallol," he greeted, recognizing the girl instantly as he neared. "It's so good to see you. How have you been?" he prompted, quite eager to hear what the girl had been up to.

It was times like this that made Dallol wonder just how many Knights, Negaverse agents, White Moon and Dark Mirror Senshis were there among the populace in Destiny City. She knew that it was a large city, having lived here for her entire life, but she had yet to come across in person any of the fighting that supposedly took place between the various factions. Not that she was out looking for trouble or hoping that some of it would come her way, figuring that they were probably at places that she didn't frequent which kind of worked out fine for her anyway with her current frame of mind about the war.

She had a smile for Remarque when she heard him address her first, a slight bounce in her gait as she closed the distance that remained between them both. "Could say the same to you Remarque. I'm good. Managed to speak to Lieutenant Buddingtonite about joining the Negaverse and he's going to put a recommendation on my behalf to General Benitoite." He looked pretty much the same since the last time they met. Not that she expected otherwise given the amount of power he probably had at his disposal if the aura he was giving off was an indication of that. "How have things been your end?"

"Oh, good, good." Remarque seemed quite pleased with both her conversations with Buddingtonite—though he was surprised the lieutenant had managed to win anyone over. Apparently he had more charm with the ladies than the men—and that was something Remarque could at least respect. "Benitoite will treat you well. He's a respectable figure. He's taught me everything I know about the Negaverse." Sure, there had been a few unfortunate incidents of late, but he wasn't going to bring up Bazzite. Now was hardly the time, nor was Benitoite really to blame.

"Things have been good for me. Can't say anything too interesting has been going on." Or, rather, he wasn't willing to admit that he was hunting wraiths. Every shadow twitching in the darkness made him suspicious—that it was a wraith lurking, ready to pounce. He'd seen two already, though they had eluded him.

They were still around, he figured. Unless they'd found a good source of energy and had made their way back to Mirrorspace. Based on his own productivity level this evening, he doubted they could have been more successful than he was.

"I've just been keeping up with this and that. Have you picked up any interesting information, noticed anything odd, the like?" She had been around for long enough that he supposed she would have had to start piecing things together, and while she still seemed to be at least fairly on his side, he wanted to utilize her for what information she had.

"I'll be sure to mention your name when I get to meet General Benitoite eventually." Dallol quipped, pleased to see that Remarque seemed to approve very much of the progress she had made so far. She had worked hard at trying to impress Buddingtonite that evening, convince him that she was worth the effort in setting up a meeting between her and the General whom the Chaos Senshi had brought up. The initiating of a series of events that would take her towards what she still thought was the right side as part of the Negaverse.

She began to look thoughtful the moment he asked if she had come across anything that might be of interest, shaking her head a few times as she shrugged her shoulders. "Can't really say that I know much of what the Order has been up to since I've been trying to stay out of their way. Other than that..." Allowing her words to trail off at that, she gave a small frown when she remembered something then picked up from where she had left off. "... my ladle feels off kinda. Started since the beginning of the week."

There was a slight rustling in the bush just a bit behind Dallol and Remarque's eyes went to it. He wondered, briefly, if it was a wraith; he'd been hunting and would have loved to go home feeling successful.

Just not right now.

Really, right now was a terrible time for one to pop out. He was trying to make a good impression and have a decent conversation—not try to explain why a rogue wraith was popping out, attacking people.

He attempted to distract her by continuing conversation and keeping his eyes on her. "Off? How so?" he prompted; he was mostly ignorant in the ways of knight weapons, and a part of him wondered if he should feel relieved that there was something off about her weapon. Ideally, they would lose their magic and fade out of this war; the Dark Mirror Senshi had no use for the knights, and when the only option was to try and tap them for information, they were quite limited in use.

"Is everything all right, did you get in some sort of trouble, or…?" Or was that the first sign of her being able to corrupt?

…Or was it a sign that they were getting stronger?

The leaves rustled again and his eyes flickered to them once more before back to Dallol's face. He feigned concern for her easily, though there were admittedly far more selfish reasons for his emotional display.

He just didn't want to lose her as an ally.

Dallol almost jumped out of her skin from the rustling that came from behind her. A spy from the Order who was eavesdropping on her conversation with Remarque? No. Not likely if she couldn't sense anyone beyond the Dark Mirror Senshi and herself out here. A glance towards Remarque to reassure herself that nothing was amiss, following which she went on to elaborate further on what she meant by her earlier words.

"I'm not really sure how I should go about describing it." It was somewhat hard to explain something that not even she herself understood entirely so she called her ladle to her hand, waving it in the air to try to show it to him as she took him through her thoughts on the matter itself. "It looks the same yet it feels as if something has changed in it, and I haven't done anything out of the ordinary either."

She paused again at the rustling, her eyes darting towards the source of the sound to hover over the bush as she contemplated the notion of checking it out. "I don't suppose that you have any idea as to what could have caused this..?" A somewhat hopeful tone though she already had a good idea as to what his answer was going to be.

"Oh, I have an idea or two," Remarque replied a bit sorely. He didn't really have any solid evidence other than suspicions, but he would have said anything to distract her from that bush. He didn't want the girl to know that there was any sort of flaw in the Dark Mirror Court—but damn it, the wraiths were seriously messing things up for them. He tried to be dismissive of the matter and waved his hand nonchalantly. "Don't worry about it, though. It's probably not anything bad. Unless it's trying to warn you that something is amiss. I've heard of that, of weapons becoming agitated when they sense a great destructive force? Maybe the other knights are planning something," he shrugged.

For someone who certainly sounded like they knew what they were talking about, Remarque honestly had no idea. He'd never heard of a weapon acting strangely; it wasn't exactly something he'd spoken to anyone about. He might have to find Valhalla and get his information.

"Whatever it is, just keep yourself safe. Has anything else seemed strange or out of place or just that?" he asked, gesturing towards her ladle.

The bushes had stilled, though Remarque eyed a very suspicious, glistening tail twitching; he recognized it as the rear end of a wraith, and while he knew they had little brain power on their own, he wondered if it was stalling or if it had just forgotten it was supposed to be out looking for energy.

The Uranus Page had a pensive look on her face as she weighed the possibilities in her own mind. "Maybe. Guess I'll have to approach one of them to confirm if that indeed is the case." Remarque had brought up a couple of interesting points as to what could be happening to have elicited such a change in her ladle. All of them reasonably plausible in her opinion along with her earlier preconceived notions based on what little she understood of the Order and how they worked by far. More than plenty to provide food for thought while she decided on her next course of action in the meantime.

"Will do. Not really no."

Bringing her ladle back to her chest level, Dallol shook her head, her poise now slightly tilted so that she could glance over at the bushes if she so wished. Surely the Dark Mirror Senshi must have thought the rustling coming from there suspicious no? "Unless you count the rustling that's coming from there. Seems like something's there rather than the usual random creature that inhabits the park." She lifted her ladle and pointed at the bushes she was referring to, a matter of fact tone in her voice as she shared her observations with the Chaos Senshi.

Remarque's eyes went again to the bush and just as he shrugged, insisting, "I'm sure it's…"

Nothing.

Except, there, in plain sight, was a wraith. Small and squirrel-like, with a tail more like a snake than a rodent's and a face that was almost fox-like.

"…A wraith," he finished instead, displeased with the timing.

The creature stood on its hind legs, poised like a meerkat ready to strike. "…Don't mind that," the eternal senshi requested, though judging by the faint trace of exasperation in his voice it was clear that he couldn't just ignore it. "…Just take a few steps back, give it some space. It's practically harmless."

The creature did not seem to agree; as if it had full comprehension of Remarque's words it twitched—and then charged, straight towards them. In the darkness, it was difficult to see exactly where it was going; Remarque stepped back to avoid crushing it beneath his feet. Even as an eternal senshi, he only just barely saw it headed straight towards the page.

Don't mind the practically harmless wraith? Did Remarque really say that?

No matter how Dallol looked at it, the wraith as what the Dark Mirror Senshi had referred to appeared the exact opposite of harmless. In fact, she would even go as far as to label it as a potential hostile if the poise it took upon was anything to go by a long stretch. Turning her head to him, she was about to step back from the creature as advised to when she saw it move from the corner of her eye.

What the...

There wasn't really any time to think other than react to the situation that she was suddenly thrusted into and she found herself grateful for a brief moment that she still had her ladle with her as she reflexively took a swing at the rapidly nearing wraith to try to deter its advance. "What gives? I didn't even do anything!"

"—Dallol, I advise you not to attack," Remarque said; at first he thought the wraith would be fine—if it hadn't gathered any energy then he didn't have to worry about Dallol making contact and breaking it…though, then again, he also had to worry about the wraith sapping her energy and making him look bad.

Of course, she didn't know how to deal with wraiths in the same way that he did, and he was concerned she might not heed his warning. It's not like the wraith was going to listen, so he instructed the page, "Just backup and stay out of his way," as he removed a mirror shard from a hidden pocket. The wraith was not his own so he wasn't sure if it would even be attracted to it—if it would return safely to Mirrorspace.

"I'll handle this."

…If the wraith would let him. It didn't seem to want to give up without a chase—and it wasn't shying away from Dallol, even with Remarque trying to step between the two of them. It ran towards the page and tried to leap right through her.

"And let Mister Harmless Wraith come closer so I can shake his hand? I think he wants to do way more than that Remarque." Dallol countered, not at all caring if she was directing her words at an Eternal Dark Mirror Senshi who was umpteen times stronger than herself or a celestial being at the moment. Keeping her gaze on the wraith the entire time, she reluctantly sent her ladle back whence it came from, choosing to go with Remarque's advice for now since it seemed as if he knew his way around these creatures.

"I'll try but I can't promise anything if he keeps insisting on encroaching my personal space." She warned, a scathing look directed at the still unperturbed wraith as she took a couple more steps back. There was no telling what exactly triggered the wraith's next course of action for Dallol could swear that she had been compliant with Remarque's instructions the entire time save for the instinctive drive to swing her ladle around for the purpose of self defense at the start.

"Like right now. God damn it!"

She cursed at the top of her voice, not at all ashamed at letting her immense displeasure at the situation be known to the other, her arms raised as she found herself caught between deciding if she should try to fend it off on her own or let Remarque take care of it. Taking advantage of her confusion, the wraith managed to pass through her a few times before she began to feel her knees go weak. "Dammit Remarque. If you don't do something about this soon, I will." She mumbled feebly, not at all understanding what had happened as she stretched her hand out to the nearest tree trunk as a last ditch attempt to keep herself upright.

Dallol's battle = lulz 8D

All this trouble. All for a stupid, ungrateful wraith, that Remarque was quite confident he'd never see again. He hadn't expected it to attack, but if he'd known it would have, he might have smashed it himself. Teeth grit, he did the only thing he could think to do. He raised his hands and called out, "Remarque Marionette Mastery."

He wasn't happy about it. It was a waste of energy. But it was all he could do to ensure that Dallol didn't attack the wraith and that the wraith didn't get close enough.

It wasn't a painful attack by any means, especially if there was no struggling. Strings descended on the page and the wraith, wrapping around major points. For the moment they were loose, dangling and ready to attack. They were a little tight, though in the way that a small hairtie around the wrist would be.

The wraith immediately began to struggle, running and jerking when the strings wrapped around it. Every time it got too far away, the strings jerked it back to where it had stood when he first cast the attack—and for that, Remarque could breathe a sigh of relief. "Sorry," he apologized to Dallol. "Just hold on one second. That'll be gone. Just take it easy and I'll get rid of this thing."

…Of course, he had the option of smashing it and returning her energy, but even Remarque couldn't do that. After all this trouble, he was keeping that wraith safe.

He knew his magic had a limited duration and he looked around, hastily trying to find a mirror. There was one not too far off; he hastened to it, heaved it up, and placed it near the wraith. With the girl's energy, the wraith was solid—and Remarque knelt, lifted it, and then stepped through the mirror.

The park was quiet for a few long seconds; nothing moved.

And then the mirror rippled.

A splash of color and then Remarque's face, but he hadn't returned with empty arms.

Dropping the wraith off in Mirrorspace had been only his first stop; the second had been to his house. He brought with him an energy drink, too full of sugar for him to really enjoy, an apple and a small pack of cookies.

Approaching the page, he held the items in one hand and held an arm out for her. "Come on, do you need to sit down? Are you all right?" he prompted.

Ahh, sorry again for the wait time on this orz

The full info for Remarque's attack is:

"In the same way that the first attack consisted of strings fastening on the target, this attack does the same, however lasts for twenty seconds. The radius shrinks in size, preventing the target from moving further than four feet from where they stood when the strings attached. There would be a greater sense of discomfort and the strings would cling tighter, making movements choppier and more difficult for the target to control.

To hell with Remarque's instructions and letting him handle this, Dallol was not going to tolerate letting that wraith anywhere near her a second time that was for sure. Trying to gather what precious energy the wraith hadn't managed to guzzle from her, she focused on summoning her ladle back to her quivering hand, her grip on its handle flimsy at best as she backed up a little to lean against the tree so as to keep herself upright.

It was the sensation of something tightening around her wrists and ankles with that movement that made her realize that something was around them. She squinted, requiring a few tries before she was able to get her eyes to focus and make out the strings that were around them. Remarque. This had to be his doing. The apology that he sent her way before he disappeared into a mirror with the wraith only served to confirm it.

With the threat removed, she leaned back against the tree and let her weapon fade away, her head tilted back slightly as her eyes began to drift closed to preserve the energy she had remaining lest she passed out right here in the park. She had no idea as to how much time had passed since then, her eyes opening to look at Remarque when he addressed her upon his return, a slightly confused look on her face as she reached out to take hold of his arm to steady herself some. "... what happened back there? That thing passed through me a few times and now I... I'm having trouble keeping my eyes open..."
