Aesyn was walking in a winding path around the base of ancient trees that formed the shadowy forest. He wanted to play, but couldn't find any of his siblings. The wind rustled his wings, and brought with it a myriad of scents. Although it was faint, he was fairly sure the wind had touched one of his siblings, and he turned to head in the direction it had originated.

Kitan wasn't the most social within the herd she had been born within. Having found a nice outcropping rock that faced the sun, she laid upon it. Face to the warm rays, her wings laid out to her sides like giant sun catchers. Even the black scales about her neck sparkled, with her eyes closed, her tail flicked messily behind her. Unlike the most of her family. she had a tail of hair, while she envied her siblings for their tail styles. Kitan couldn't help but love her own and try to keep it as tidy as possible. As the wind blew over her, she opened those ruby colored eyes and peered down from her perch. Such an interesting day, not that much was happening. It was days like these that she enjoyed, solitude.

Aesyn curned a corner and saw Kitan perched on a rock centered in a beam of sunlight. He smiled a little, glad that it was she that he'd found. He preferred to only speak when necessary, and he had to do less talking with her than he did with others. Hey, he said softly, alerting her to his presence. He entered into the patch of sun and stretched his wings, enjoying the warmth on them.

An ear turned at the approach of someone off to her side. Tilting her head in just a way to see who it was. She found that is was her more or less silent brother. Like herself, he didn't give much for conversation. moving to one side a bit. she made room for him upon the rock she had been laying upon. "Hi" was all that she gave in reply, her wings folding to her sides as she once again turned her head towards the warm rays of the sun. "Pleasant day, ain't it?" Kitan asked quietly not bothering to open her eyes again. The sun felt too wonderful to move. After the long cold, it was nice to feel the warmth of the sun again.

He nodded, despite the fact that she couldn't see him do it, and climbed gracefully onto the rock, settling beside her. The sounds of the birds singing and hopping around in the trees were peaceful to him. He sighed softly in contentment as the heat from the rock began to soak into his muscles. Yeah. Good for relaxing. he replied. He mirrored his sister and closed his eyes.

The white dragoness cracked open an ruby eye and grinned at her brother. Shifting a little she rested her head against his side. It was nice to have family around, she wasn't sure what she would do without it. "Good for escaping everyone when they try to match you up with a suitor." Kitan frowned slightly, not that the idea of having a mate wasn't that bad. Just ones chosen by others made things complicated. "You are the first to find me here,"

Matchmaking again, huh? Although Aesyn thought it might be nice to have a mate, a partner in all things, he knew he could not settle for something purely political. He'd need a mate whose personality captivated him and who he could share intimacy with. He laughed softly to himself, acknowledging what a difficult and unlikely possibility a mare like that would be.
He leaned into his sister's head, glad for the comfort and closeness. He wondered what sort of suitor they were trying to match Kitan up with this time. He made a mental note to return to this spot when he wanted a refuge. If no one had found Kitan before him, it had to be a good place for some peace and quiet.

"The charmed life of the first born." Kitan joked, though the first born thing wasn't a lie. Out of the five of them, she was the eldest. Sometimes she hated being the oldest, she wished someone else had been born first. "What what is a body to do? Someone has to be first, I suppose" She sighed before pulling her head from her brother's side to lay it across her forelegs as she stretched a bit to have them dangle off the rock's edge.
Kitan enjoyed the spot that she was in, it was surrounded by trees on three sides with a wide view out a head of the rock. It had been her practice spot when she was learning to fly in both horse and dragon forms. Many a tumble had been taken here and many hours of trying before racing home before it became dark. There were still small rock shards and claw marks at the base of the stone from her frustration. Fond memories and she was going to make more at this spot. Suitor or not. This spot was always her haven from the mundane.

Aesyn rolled onto his back and wriggled on the rock, using its rough and uneven edges to scratch all along his back and between his wings. Then, just as abruptly as he'd started scratching, he rolled back over, purposely falling off the edge of the rock, and landed neatly on his hooves, wings partially outstretched to balance himself. He stared out into the forest, knowing that he had to return soon, but wishing he could escape from the responsibilities of being royal blood for more than a few minutes.
Going back soon? he asked her, hoping for company on the way back.
