Ever since the Great Magic Wars caused unfathomable death and destruction upon the lands, Magic has since become a controversial talent. Some countries have even banned it's usage, just to be safe, and had violators thrown in prison. While these countries are certainly a minority among nations, it stands that there is general unease among the public on the use of magic...and the fact that many wealthy families found their fortunes through their magical abilities doesn't help.

However, that's not to say that all rich families have magical powers, or that all magic users are rich. Indeed, the majority of would-be magicians are regular citizens trying to live regular lives, and many older citizens succeed in assimilating with society just fine, despite their somewhat different abilities. However, the magicians who have the most difficulty living in society are not middle-aged and older citizens, but the students and young adults. As one philosopher once said, "With great power comes great responsibility", and unfortunately, responsibility is one category that students often lack significantly in. Without guidance, many students with magical potential used their power irresponsibly, and often fell to the temptation of using their powers selfishly. This behavior, fueled by the power of magic, made it difficult for magic-users to adapt to society, and the current system promised a future of grown-up and disgruntled magic-using delinquents. Something needed to be done.

A few people realized this fact, and began founding schools geared specifically towards educating young people with magical abilities. The schools began with the goal to help both direct and develop young magicians in a constructive manner, and to help allow them a safe environment in which to explore their unusual talents. Such an environment also isolated them from society until their responsibility caught up with their skill in handling magic, thereby solving a whole flock of problems with a single stone.

Resonance Skies Academy was founded as a result of this 'solution' to society's magic problem, and as one of the many schools having a seat in the Magic Academy Council, adheres to the ideals of growing young magicians, instilling responsibility in the students, and in generally encouraging young people to become well-adjusted citizens.
