Harrison set down his tool bag on the inside of the door as quiet as possible.

Jordan was already there, and Harrison smiled at him.

"Coming off today, huh?" he asked softly.

"Right now, in fact," the tech who had been flipping through the charts answered.

Working was natural to Harrison, and he'd felt oddly at ease knowing both that Sasha was off the island, and the majority of the work he'd been given (even if it was unpaid) was in the same building as Rep. Like there was some invisible tether that was loose, and secure, instead of tight and under a knife. He could walk by whenever he liked, and did so often.

So today hadn't been bad.

He'd spent most of yesterday resting against Rep and reading him The Art of War, and had planned on more of the same after he was free from his shifts.

They hadn't talked about the required off-island time yet. Or the decision Simon hand hung over Rep. But they, too, felt surmountable. Harrison figured there'd be plenty of time to deal with it when Rep was better.

"How's it looking, Tracey?"

Rep was drained, as if all his emotions had been siphoned off and what was left was incapable of more than just a low simmer. Normally there was a raging sea of feelings sloshing around in his head, now it would be lucky to fill a kid's paddling pool. Dread and relief mingled together at the prospect of taking off the bandages, of knowing one way or the other if he could see.

Tracey spoke for what had been the first time in days as Harrison addressed him.

"He says he thinks it should be ok." he relayed, though his tone was doubtful.

Jordan was in the chair beside the bed, his hand lightly laid over Rep's; they hadn't talked much today, just letting the silent reassurance of touch be enough. He was nervous. He had faith in Tracey's ability to heal his bond, but still, the waiting had been nervewracking, and dread and relief mingled in the prospect of finding out for sure.

Tracey has fixed him, Ferros said, nothing but trust and confidence in his voice.

"It'll be okay," Jordan said aloud, trying for as certain a tone as he could manage.

Harrison had confidence in Tracey too. The angel had pulled Rep through a hell of a lot.

Aesthetics.

Sunny's words ran through his mind. That she hoped he wasn't into Rep for his looks. He smiled wryly, and thumbed his chin.

"Tracey'd know better than anybody else. B0nez has got some kinda Task Manager he runs on me."

The assistant prepared a tray for the gauze in the rollaway bedside table, and took a small set of scissors out of a sealed wrapping.

The contact meant a lot, being in physical contact with someone, anyone, meant the world to Rep when he couldn't see, it was like having a charger that kept him functioning, a constant assertion that people were there and not simply figments of his normally neglected senses.

"I ******** hope so." Rep said. He was just keen to get it over with and know one way or the other what Tracey had managed.

Jordan squeezed Rep's hand lightly and watched as the assistant snipped away the bandages, staying silent. There would be scarring, he was pretty sure, but that didn't really matter.

Harrison stood close, observing. He talked, just so Rep would have something else to concentrate on.

"Hey," Harrison said, tone suggestive, "guess what me and Jordan are wearing."

It worked. Rep had been focusing intently on the bandages and the person unwrapping them. At Harrison's question he smirked, a big genuine grin and said. "Well you'd better be in a police uniform. Jordan will be in a fancy labcoat." He didn't give a damn what the tech thought.

Under the bandages there was a lot of scarring, a good amount of it still held together with neat stitching, not fully mended even with weapon healing but good enough to finally be open to the air. His right eye was still difficult to open comfortably, the ragged scar bleeding up onto his lower eyelid, but beyond it, his eyes were fine. He could see the room. He could see again. And it was blindingly light. He winced quickly and closed them

"Well I can ******** see I guess." he said with a hiss. "At least enough to know its too goddamn bright."

Jordan realized that he'd been holding his breath, and let it out in a deep, relieved sigh. "Thank God," he said, then paused and revised, "No - thanks, Tracey."

"No labcoat, I'm afraid," he said with a small laugh. He was wearing what he normally wore, except that he had changed his usual coat for one of Rep's, the wider shoulders and large, fluffy hood making him look thinner than usual.

Harrison immediately went over to hit the light switch.

"Better?"

He cracked the door.

"And coveralls for me," he said, returning the grin, "didn't want to get my good s**t messed up from the construction. Maybe later on that uniform thing."

The dimmed light was enough to properly open his eyes without it being too unbearable, though they still ached as they fought to adapt to even the mere amount that filtered into the room. "Aye, it's better." he said, still cringing slightly.

He decided if there was any time to be compliant with Tracey's whims it was now. "He says thanks." As he glanced over he noticed Jordan was wearing his coat, and couldn't help the big grateful smile from only getting wider. Somehow things felt smaller. Like he could cope. Like he could handle this - maybe, with people to support him. He took his time just looking him over, drinking in sights he'd been terrified he'd never see again. "Suits you." He said, and meant it, he really liked fur.

Harrison got the same treatment. "And coveralls are just fine too."

Joking aside however, he was scared to so much as raise his hand to touch his face in case what he felt there was as bad as what he'd been dreading. "Does it look ok?" he asked. "And be ******** honest."

"Just keeping it for you till you can take it back," Jordan said, the corner of his mouth tipping up in an almost-shy smile.

"It's not bad," he said in response to the question. "Rugged, maybe."

"Heyyy, yeah, Tracey did a great job. A lot of stitches and bruising, still, but you got the proper amounts of everything. And in the right place, too. Hearing Sunny earlier I thought everything might have moved 20 degrees clockwise," Harrison joked. He shuffled to sit down as the tech cleaned up some of the dry blood.

Rep very critically eyed both of them just in case they were softening the blow somehow, but there was no horror in their gaze, no moment of hesitation that might have hinted at such. He relaxed, exhaling as if having the weight lifted off his shoulders.

Tracey said huffily.

He finally carefully raised a hand, letting the tech clean him up with grudging patience but gently running a finger along some of the more healed gouges. His nose was its usual self, nothing felt tremendously twisted up. "Aye, I was ******** worried I'd have like, no eyes."

"You still look like you," Jordan said. "If somewhat more bruised than usual." He glanced at the tech and kept his hand on Rep's instead of touching his face.
