Hidden Treasure Prompt

Beginning:

Deciding to take a break from your training and lessons, you have wandered off to the sea side. How you travel to the shore is up to your imagination, but when you have finally arrived at your designation it is late afternoon. As you stroll along the sandy shore and enjoy the soothing sounds of the waves beating upon the shore, a glimmer inland catches your eye. Looking towards it you see what ever sparkled has vanished into a dark opening in the rocky hillside next to you.

As you wander over towards the hill, you can see that while it might be a tight squeeze, you think you can enter into the dark tunnel beyond.

Due to the injuries that the scary man named Burrom had sustained it seemed as though he and his very quiet daughter were going to be staying for a time. It was something that Junjie rather liked since it meant that he had a friend to spend some time with, one that he got to see more then just once before they went back to wherever it was that they hailed from. The two of them had mostly been staying inside before he was finally able to talk his Mom into letting them go outside for a bit, though as usual cloaks were something that they had to wear the whole time so that nobody would notice them. While Junjie could almost fit in if he were careful and kept his wings from popping up Tilawen was a different case entirely. She wasn't an Orderite, she was Oblivionite, and those weren't liked around these parts, it was up to Junjie to look after her and to keep her safe and far from the others that wandered around this area.

They had been in debate of where it was that they wanted to go, and while they it was mostly him with Tilawen being quiet as per usual with her. She was so quiet that it left him often babbling to fill the silence. It was strange but he didn't mind doing it, so long as he had someone to talk to right? Better then talking to himself, something that he had done before, "So! The plan is we go in that direction." He said, pointing in a North Eastern direction, then smiled, "We shouldn't ahve to worry about any dragons in that direction since it seems that they are more interested in hanging out in the forest." He told the quiet girl as he adjusted his hood best that he could without it getting tangled on his mismatched horns, "I have never gone in this directions so it will be fun to see what is up there!" He chirped, motioning for her to follow along after him.

"It will be fun!" He said, turning to look over his shoulder, smiling at her, "What do you think we will find? Oh! Maybe we can find some Froglops! Those are my favorite even though my Mom isn't a fan, she doesn't seem to like the way they hop and make croaking sounds." He said with a laugh, finding it amusing how much his mother didn't like the hoppy critters. He loved them though, they were fun to chase around, though he'd almost gotten himself lost once due to following one around. It had turned out alright though since he'd found Erionda as he chanced the thing and that had been a really nice meeting if he did say so himself.

Truth be told it didn't matter to her wither they stay instead or close to the house, the boy never seemed to stop talking and thus she never developed the need to speak up for herself. Though she was discovering that she was getting...slowly use to him. Although his inability to give her space was still a problem but at least his endless chatter hadn't become annoying just yet. They were traveling to the ocean and for once she was slightly excited, she had only seen the ocean up close once and that had only been because they were taking a short cut and needed the tide to wash away their tracks.

Today she would get to experience it like a normal child...well as normal as two hybrids could be. When it was suggested that they travel around the forest she didn't argue, after her own encounter with drakein's she wasn't exactly eager to go face off against more. Although she was a bit worried about his proclamation about never have gone int his direction before also claiming that it would be fun.

Fun was not a word she was familiar with unless it was used in a sarcastic context and so was the boy being sarcastic? He didn't seem the type, still she wasn't sure what to say and so followed behind him in silence with him going on about froglops though she didn't see the appeal in them.

When they got to the sands of the beach she took a moment to pause and look out at the endless expanse of the water, a sigh escaped her lips though it was more out of longing than tiredness.
PostPosted: Wed Apr 24, 2013 11:13 pm

Junjie gave a happy sound when they got closer and closer to the ocean, able to smell the salt in the air, something that had him nearly bouncing up and down in delight over it all, "It's been a while since I have been near the ocean." He said, resting his hands on his hips as he looked out over the expanse of it. There were other places out there, other continents, other worlds it felt like, all one had to do was hop on a boat and just go! A shame that it meant all sorts of danger though... As much as he really wanted to explore more his mother was always cautioning him against going too far from their house, that there were people that didn't look kindly upon what he was, that there were dangerous races out there that would attack with provocation, there were dragons, feral drakein, the list went on and on. Standing here though, looking out over the ocean, listening to the sound of the waves and the wind he could almost forget about all of the bad things she was always talking about even for a moment.

Turning to look over at the ever quiet Tila he gave a smile, "I took a boat once over the ocean but it's a secret." He told her, then grinned, "Though you don't seem the sort that would go around blabbing to anyone so I feel like I can trust you with that information." He told her, giving a smile and a wink. She didn't talk much at all so he couldn't see her going around telling a bunch of people that he'd taken a boat ride when nobody himself Mister Arick and Junjie himself knew about it, "I want to go other places too sometime but Mom is pretty sure I should just stay home with her and learn the Healing arts from her." If she had her way he would likely never leave the house he thought, giving a slight pout. He didn't so much mind becoming a Healer, he wanted to help others, it was just the staying home forever thing that bothered him.

"Mmm... Ah?" He paused in his chatting when a glint in the sand caught his eye, causing him to turn to look in that direction, watching the way that whatever it was that was glitter seemed to suddenly just vanish into darkness. Blinking a couple times he walked toward the strange opening in the side of a hill that overlooked the ocean. It seemed kind of small but if his wings stayed closed he should be able to fit in there, he could follow the glittering... thing, see what it was, where it was going, and see what else might be hiding in there, "Hey! Tilawen! Come look at this!" Called to his silent companion, hoping that she would come along with him into the the strange opening that could go almost anywhere! It was quite exciting if you asked him! So much so that his wings had popped up under his cloak, flapping against the dark, heavy cloth as he bounced in front of the miniature cave.

Tilawen looked surprised by his 'secret' after all he didn't seem the type who would go on adventures or do dangerous foolhardy things like that. A million questions bubbled just under the surface but only one managed to sneak its way out and form into words.

"Where did you go?" She inquired softly looking him over before her gaze returned to the immense expanse of what was the ocean. She felt like if she was to take a boat ..she would never come back and part of her secretly relished that idea. Seabirds flew high over head and the wind was picking up, it teased her hair and she had to tuck the loose strands behind an ear. Listening she realized that he was just as much a prisoner as she was with her father. Though she got to see more of the world, it was for naught as she was constantly hid from it.

"Do..you want to heal?" Can her next question..and for her to ask more than one question in a matter of minutes betrayed that she was getting more comfortable with the boy of course her question was lost as he was suddenly bounding forward something obviously catching his eyes as he called her to fallow him. Moving slowly she walked to his side noting the cave entrance with a dubious look.

"...?" The look she gave him was all that was needed to ask the question.
PostPosted: Thu Apr 25, 2013 2:22 pm

When Tilawen asked him where he'd gone, something that was a bit surprising since she said so little he turned to look at her, giving her a smile, then leaned in so that he could whisper, "Souldul." He murmured, then gave a grin, "Don't tell though! Mom doesn't know." He didn't want for his mother to ever find out that he had gone to the Dark Continent, even if it was for a good cause. The last thing that he wanted for her to know was that he had gone out somewhere so dangerous just because Mister Arick had asked him to do so, "Have you ever been there?" He asked, wondering if she had since she was Oblivionite... well at least half of her was.

At her next question he gave a nod of his head, "Oh, yes. I really do! I want to help people in the same way that my Mom helps people, she has a very important job. I just want to do so at my own pace and to be able to visit other places first." He explained, "I want to be able see more then just our home and the small expanse of land around it." Though he knew that it would be a little dangerous given that he was what he was. Still, if he could just get his wings under control he'd be able to do it! At least what was what he wanted to believe... actually getting them under control was the difficult part. They were always such a pain!

Turning to look over at Tilawen she said nothing about the idea of checking out the cave he said, "It will be alright! I am right here so there is nothing to be afraid of, I promise!" He told her, then squatted down, "Besides, given how small the hole is nothing big can get inside! Come on! It could be fun to see what is in there!"

A lot of things he said made her wonder, after all he had ideas and a idea for what he wanted to do in the future, she didn't know. There didn't seem to be anything she could strive towards since her father was so adamant about keeping her a secret. In fact until they had come here, they had never stayed in one place for more than a day or two. At his question she nodded her head, she had been to Souldul though it had been awhile and she had to admire that he went there on his own.

Looking back at the entrance of the cave she was still not sure what it was that had drawn him over to it. Though any thoughts about protesting went out the window when he declared there was nothing to be afraid of. He was already squatting down to enter the cave and taking a breath she looked annoyed but was quick to join him on the inside of the cave. So what had he seen? Her worry stemmed that the tide may come in and the water fill up the cave...she tried not to think about it. Perhaps they wouldn't be in here for very long.

"What..did you see?"

Hidden Treasure Prompt
If you wish to continue inside the tunnel, also give a reason why and go to Entering.

Entering

As you squeeze into the dark tunnel, you can see a little in front of you. There are small animal tracks in the dirt beneath you. Wiggling your way slowly through the tunnel, you come upon a side tunnel. Both trails have animal tracks, though the path forward seems more traveled. Will you continue forward or turn and go down the side tunnel? Or have you had enough and want to crawl backwards and leave?

Once again, please respond to this prompt, what are your character's thoughts and feelings as they travel through this dark cramped tunnel.

"Hm? Oh! I am not quite sure... but there was something shiny that went running in here. I wonder what it was." He said, squinting his purple eyes as though trying to figure out what it was as he shuffled along into the cave, wondering what it was. He really had no idea, but it was shiny so it had to be interesting, right? He'd heard of certain avian that loved to collect shiny things. Could it be that? He really couldn't be certain but he was far too curious to just leave it be.

"Oh! Hey... do you see that? There are little animal tracks on the ground... I wonder if that was what was shiny. Maybe it was carrying something shiny? Oh! Or maybe the animal itself is shiny!" He said, sounding quite excited about the idea of finding... well, whatever it was that he'd seen glittering as it ran into the tunnel. So long as it wasn't a Froglop maybe his Mom would let them bring it home he found himself with a bit of a smile. He lifted a hand to touch one of the tracks, it was pretty small so there shouldn't be anything to worry about, right? He didn't think so, it wasn't as though the two of them were trying to face off against a dragon or something, right? Which was a bit of a relief. He was more then happy to take a break from such things.

Junjie's crawling paused suddenly and he looked from side to side, giving a bit of a thoughtful sound deep in his throat before he turned to look over his shoulder best that he could at the girl that was following him, "Ahhh... hey, Tilawen... there are two paths, which do you think think we should take?" He asked of the girl.

Tilawen looked behind her, the tunnel was cramp and it was dark even in the gloom her eyes felt like they were as large as they posibly could be to get any details in the confines they were in. Peering over Junjie's shoulders she tried to make out what he was talking about. Animal tracks? They were following an animal? It may of been shiny or carrying something shiny but every part of her told her that they should get out of there, but...she didn't want to appear scared in front of the boy.

Looking into the cave she noticed the two dark tunnels he was speaking about, the tracks were hard to make out they further in they went. So they had to choose a tunnel and neither of them looked very promising.

"You choose." Was her response, he had seen the thing he wanted to give chase to so she would let him lead.

Hidden Treasure Prompt
A) go forward, Go to "A: Forward,"
B) go down the side tunnel, Go to "B: Side Tunnel"

"Hrm... Enny, meny, mine, moe..." He quietly went through the whole rhyme before he turned to look at the side tunnel. He squinted down that tunnel for a moment before shrugging, "Alright, this way!" He said, turning to start his way down the side tunnel.

Hidden Treasure Prompt
B: Side tunnel

Deciding to take this side tunnel, you squirm about and crawl through this tight space. As you squirm through the dark twisting tunnel; its rough walls scratch you with the sharp protruding rocks.

As you travel along this path you notice that it gradually slopes downwards. After a while, you see the darkness lighten. There is something ahead of you! As you crawl faster towards the light you finally see the tunnel suddenly open up.

As he went into the small side tunnel, one that felt a little more tight the the last one they were in, something that caused his big horn to scrape against the top of tunnel. He gave a little hiss from time to time as he was poked and scraped by the sharp rocks that were in this particular tunnel. There was a part of him that considered going back but given that Tilawen was behind him he doubted it would be all that easy to back up. Not to mention that he was almost positive that his big horn would likely get jammed if he tried to back up through this tunnel. There was nothing to do but to keep going.

"I think I see light... so we should keep going this way... it's a bit pokey though, try to be careful!" He called back to Tilawen, sure that she had already noticed that part of this tunnel but he had no idea if she could see the light yet since he was in front of her. Nothing to do but to keep going forward he thought to himself, doing his best to duck down more to keep his horn from scraping too much against the top of the tunnel since that was dumping loose dirt down on top of him.

It wasn't like they had much choice in the matter it was either move forward or move back, Tilawen grimaced feeling the rocks catch on her clothes and scratch against her bare skin. She couldn't see much besides the squirming body of Junjie ahead of her and she was thankful when it started to get lighter ahead of her. Trying to peer over his shoulder she was extremely happy to see the tunnel widening, her scratches were itching like crazy and when the space was wide enough she felt her nails going to them scratching and feeling a little blood come as she did so.

Looking around she wasn't sure where the light source was but she was glad to be able to see better.

"Now what?" she inquired softly as it felt almost sinful to speed loud here.
PostPosted: Thu Apr 25, 2013 9:08 pm

"Just have to keep going... we will see where the light is coming from." He said, hoping that he would be able to see whatever it was that they were following that had left behind those footprints that he'd been able to see earlier before the tunnel had gone rather dark on them, "Mmm... does it feel like the tunnel is kinda heading downward to you?" He asked of Tilawen, moving his hands around carefully, testing the way the ground felt at the moment. The ground was less and less sharp and pointy, less enclosed and tight, but it was slopping. Of that he was at least certain, it seemed as though it was getting a lot brighter as they went as well.

Hidden Treasure Prompt
Go to "Cavern Room"

Cavern Room
Looking around at your surroundings you see a small cavern light up from a hole in the ceiling. Tree roots have forced their way into this cave and opened up a path for light and water. A small pond has formed beneath the opening. In the middle of it you see a tiny island. It is covered in junk. Some rags, broken bottles and broken jewelry. Also amid the pile you can spot something sparkling in the light. The only openings that you can leave or enter this room from are from a tunnel that comes out half way up the wall or a tunnel that leads off into the dark again.

Junjie was never happier then when the tunnel that they were crawling through opened up into a rather large, cavernous room. He pushed himself to his feet, wiping his scuffed up hands on his cloak before he looked around, "Wow! Would you look at this place? It's so amazing!" He gasped out, looking from side to side, then up. The light that filled the cavern seemed to be coming from a hole that was way up in the ceiling, there were interesting root formations that helped to let in more water and light, and in the middle of the gathered water was what looked like an island!

"Ahh... neat! This place is so cool! I bet nobody has ever seen this place other then whatever had left those prints behind!" He said, whirling around to look over at Tilawen, smiling at her, "Isn't it so neat? Come on! Let's go look around more! Especially that island, something over there is sparkling, come with me?" He asked, bouncing in place in delight, wings open and fluttering rapidly against his cloak.

Tilawen had been looking at the ceiling noting the roots and the holes above them, she wondered how stable it was...if there was roots that meant something was growing through the ceiling, plants ..or even trees. The steady drip drip indicated that there was water coming from the ceiling as well she even felt a plip hit her forehead and she was force to blink and look around the cave instead of just the ceiling.

Junjie's explosion of excited chatter caused her to look at the pile of things that were in the center of the pool on a little island. Things random things were piled there and from this distance she couldn't quite make out everything other than there was one very shiny item in there amongst it all. The girl couldn't help but feel excitement steal into her as well, it must be catching from Junjie she's never had that sort of feeling before.

"O..okay." She murmured wondering if there was stepping stone or something to get them over to the pile.
PostPosted: Thu Apr 25, 2013 10:00 pm

Junjie looked up at the ceiling, giggling a bit when he realized that water was dripping in down onto them as though it were raining though in a more steady manner and pattern. Lifting a hand up he let it gather on his hand before lowering it down, sniffing at it, "Huh, smells less salty then the water from the ocean. Maybe it filters out on the way through the ground?" He guessed, starring up at the ground over head in a curious manner before there was a shifting sound amongst the 'treasures' on the island and her jerked his head in that direction, then went wide eyed, "Ah... Tilawen look!" He gasped out, pointing to the large critter that was standing there, one that looked like a Cropher. He knew those! Those things were often seen running off with shiny things, to think that they had piles these big of their stolen goods.

He went rushing off after the critter which gave a cawing sound at him before it took flight, flapping its way up toward the twisted roots over head, perching there so that it could stare down at them, "Awww... come down!" He said, lifting his hands up toward it as though he could summon it down, but it just starred. Junjie stuck his tongue out at the critter before he turned back to the pile that the critter had just abandoned, walking over to join Tilawen on the edge of the water, looking down into it, "Mmm... I wonder how deep it is." He murmured, then tried to judge the distance between one shore and the other, "Do you think we could jump across?"

Tilawen had been surprised at seeing the creature, though she didn't utter a sound of surprise she had jumped slightly when it flew up cawing at them in irritation at them being where its hoard was. She was thankful it wasn't something bigger and more menacing but she only watched in stunned silence as Junjie gave chase after it and then tried to summon the cropher down before giving up and sticking its tongue out at it rather childishly.

Her attention returned to the island in the middle, it didn't look deep but you could never be sure in the gloom. So rather than reply she looked for a sizable rock and then tossed it into the pool. It made a tremendous splash before sinking out of sight. Well that answered her question the water was deep enough that if they wanted to cross it would involve them getting rather wet.

"Swim?" She offered the suggestion though now she wondered if there was something in the water.
