Reading: Leora was raised in a very old school house. She was born later in her parents life, and them finding themselves to be parents of a child they didn't even think they could have, read all the baby books. And they all said the same thing. No TV. And so she grew up with books as her main source of entertainment, having no siblings to think of, and all of her cousins being so much older then her, she immersed herself in the land of the written word, letting fanciful tales fill her mind. So engrossed with this subject as a child she would go so far as to read to the patrons of her parents B&B at the breakfast table. As she grew up this dedication and love flowed into her studies, making her an amazing student, and subsequently, having a very high IQ.
Antiquing & Estate / Garage sales: Having an eye for value, Leora loves to do the garage sale circuit during the summer, and is a frequent visitor to the antique and estate sales. When she was younger she would accompany her mother on the hunt for furniture and baubles for the Bread and Breakfast, and their home, which is styled in the old Victorian style likes its architecture. Now that she is older she will often go on these ventures on her own, loving the trill of finding something of true value that someone else has priced off as "old and grimy" and bringing it home for $10, knowing its secretly worth hundreds.
Running: Durring her youth she did not have much in the way of friends. She lived in "The old house with all the old people" and as such, rarely did other children offer to come to her house for playdates or sleepovers, once they were at the age were these things were no longer arranged. As a result, barely into elementary school, she joined the group of ladies who would walk around the suburbs for fun and exercise. When she got a little older, and the slow wondering of elderly women were tedious enough to make her grind her teeth, she joined a running group. The majority of them being much older then her, welcomed her happily, finding the sport of running being a very friendly environment. As a result she runs almost everyday. Sometimes with groups, sometimes by herself, sometimes random parks just because they have a running path.
Fashion: Fashion has always been something that has intrigued Leora. Her clothing was something that as a child she was mocked for, but as an adult, is something that she is looked at to as being "styleish" even though the only thing that has changed, is the body that fills the clothing. Things that were, in her youth, marking her as uncool in her early years, are things that now raise her to the status of "Cool" and "Elegant' even though they are essentially the same types of garments. The idea that you can taking something and with a few just and snips and lines of stitching, turn something that was once Ridicule worthy into something that is of the highest folds of fashion is fascinating to her, and she takes advantage of her knowledge of sewing and her extensive wardrobe to make sure that people will always look at her clothing with envy, never again with scorn. She is very much looking forward to her first year of university were she can be free of these accursed uniforms.
Virtues:
Calm: Leora can always keep a level head about her. When she was younger she was never allowed the "temper tantrums" of youth. Her parents were very strict ( Though loving ) and taught her how to deal with her problems as an adult, even though she wasn't. As such, she learned from a young age how to think things through rationally and figure out the best way to get the outcome she desired. In panicked or stressful situations, you will often times find her in the back, mulling over the situation before taking action. She puts thought into almost everything she does, and so takes on everything she does with an air of collected serenity around her.
Confident: Being very intelligent, and always putting forethought into the things she does, everything she does in life is done with confidence. Anything from sewing a new dress, to her homework, even to running a new course with people she does not know. She has learned to let other people's opinions of her roll off of her like water ( From years of being considered "creepy" and uncool ) she now wears confidence like a cloak. She rarely waits for the opinions of others when she does things, or asks for advice.
Observant: Leora has a very sharp mind, and she often will notice things that other people will miss for various reasons. ( Stress and distractions ) She will notice things that will just pass through the radar of other people. An insult hidden so sweetly inside of a false compliment are obviously clear to her, and her ability to read body language is rather acute. School crushes often become aware to her before the person who is having them even realizes. She can lead a conversation any way she chooses because she knows when a person is becoming comfortable or enamored with a subject, and can even use the information she gleans from simply watching to make things happen when they need to.
Flaws:
Cold: Her combination of Confidence and her Calm personality make her come across as a cold person, and it is not entirely untrue. In her youth she was mocked as children often do to others. Now in her older years she has taken what her parents taught her ( Don't let others opinions of your change your opinion of yourself ) To such an extent that she has in part shut herself away from other people her age. People tend to judge her as a cold and aloof person ( Which, once again, is not untrue ) but it just reinforces her decision to not get attached. This makes if hard for her to connect to others her own age.
Manipulative: Leora has come to use her sharp mind and her subtle mannerisms to get things from people without them knowing it wasn't even their idea in the first place. It started off at a young age, simple things that one would expect from a child who is a bit of a daddies girl, into full on using people to meet her own ends. She doesn't even view these things as wrong, as long as in the end the outcome is what she wants. The feelings of others will be a considered factor, and she doesn't set out to hurt people, but sometimes it happens, and she has no remorse for it. Even as she gets older, she will use the attraction of boys to get things done ( Like say moving that heavy furniture ) by inviting them over to study, and then send them on their way with only a smile and a thank you, when really they were fishing for a date. Because everyone knows a study date is really code to make out. And she uses these things to her advantage. If one of her few friends has a boyfriend who she knows is no good, she would not be above inviting him over for a little sexy hot-tub time. But you can sure as s**t bank on the fact she probably invited his girlfriend for a girly pool part a half an hour later. Yes, Her friends feelings will be very hurt, but the truth of her no good boyfriend will be brought into the open. Sure, she could just as easily say she thinks hes a bad guy, but that's now how her brain works. It makes it hard for her friends to trust her to deeply. And people she knows in passing will learn over time that everything she offers comes with hidden catches.
Never forgets a grudge: First impressions matter to her, and they can last a long time. Girls who were catty and cruel to her in the third grade still get the cold shoulder from her in the hallways. If you earn her dislike, you are going to have to really work to get any sort of kindness from her. Respect she can give were it is due, but once you have been placed into the " Jackass " Pile, chances are you are going to be there for a while. The silent treatment and the cold glare are common place for people she cant stand. She'll never outright move into physical violence, but she can be cruel in turn to those who were cruel to her, in subtle ways. You may not remember that snub you dealt last year, but she certainly will when you ask her to help you with your science test, and more then likely she will feed you the wrong information.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Eyes: A pale salmon-pink, almond shaped with very thick eyelashes.
Hair: Extremely pale Ash blonde, usually worn in a high ponytail. She has a few bangs in the front, and two sharp angled "wing" layers on either side of her face. Please refer to the Reference Avatar in the next post.
Face: Heart shaped face, with a few pale freckles on her cheek bones.
