The young cheetah lay on her side underneath the shade of the large tree, her tail occasionally flipping up and then back to the ground. Her belly was full of water and little else, but she was fine with that; she could hunt later. Or now. Her stomach clenched at the thought of food. It had been a while since she had had a meal. She glanced over at the lioness she shared the shade with. I wonder if she's hungry? She knew little about her cooling-companion except that she had been travelling as well. Had it been a while since she had eaten? Zawadi lifted her head slightly to address the lioness. "So, where were you heading to?"

Olotti had been dozing off a little, but snapped out of it quickly and raised her head when the cheetah spoke to her. "Nowhere, really. I've been wandering around ever since I left my mother." She said, frowning a little at the mention of her parent. She often wondered if she'd see the lioness again, or the cubs were her younger siblings. Either way, it wasn't worth worrying about now.
"How about you? Are you headed somewhere?" She asked then, and then added. "Also, what do you go by? I'm Olotti." She introduced.

Zawadi gave a toothy grin. "I'm just about the same, I suppose. I've been here and there all my life. Sometimes I stop in a place for a while, but I always end up moving on." She ran her tongue along her foreleg, keeping her eyes on Olotti. She enjoyed the lioness's compnay.
"Olotti? I like that." She tilted her head before continuing, "I'm Zawadi." Almost directly after introduction, her stomach growled, and she snorted. "I don't suppose you've got food hiding on the other side of this tree, do you?"

"Nice to meet you, Zawadi." The lioness said politely, and then shook her head. "I"m afraid not, though. I was going to go after a zebra once it started to get later, but they all ran off earlier." Glancing towards the watering hole, the zebra hadn't returned... but now there was a small heard of water buffalo surrounding it, drinking up all they could.
"But those buffalo look pretty good. What do you say, want to team up a little for a hunt?" Olotti suggested, feeling herself getting pretty hungry as well. "If we catch one, we can bring it back here and eat in the shade."

Her stomach growled again, as if it agreed to the hunt for her. "I think that's a great idea." She stretched all of her limbs, claws outstretched, before getting up. Once standing, she stretched again, yawning.
"Do you want to wing it, or should we make a strategic plan?" She smiled at Olotti, trying to be considerate of the lioness's hunting preferences. While she generally just went with the flow, she didn't care how they got food as long as she got to eat.

Studying the small herd for a second, Olotti plotted. Teamwork was something ingrained into most lionesses, but it was still rusty for her since she'd neer been part of a pride or anything before. She didn't want to wing it, but it took her a minute to come up with a simple plan.
"I think we should do it this way." She began, motioning towards the watering hole with her shoulder. "You go down there and chase one of them up here as best you can. I'll try to stay hidden in the grass until it gets closer, and then I'll pounce and try to bring it down." Hopefully Zawadi would be okay with that. Cheetahs were supposed to be fast, and that way they could use her speed to their advantage.

The cheetah nodded and began moving to the right of the buffalo, planning on making a wide turn around them to get on their other side. She crouched down, eyeing the prey carefully. She could smell them, and her mouth began to water.
Once in position, she started an easy run towards the buffalo. They caught wind of her, and one, a medium sized female, broke off from the rest and began running towards Olotti. "Gotcha," she muttered before gaining more speed, and soon she was right behind the prey animal. She skillfully herded it closer to Olotti, and awaited her companion's strike.

Olotti crouched in the grass, her mouth open as she breathed heavily out of it. Her eyes were on Zawadi as the cheetah headed down, their plan being set into motion. Once she got closer panic ensued. The animals went in every direction and it wasn't very long before Zawadi was behind a certain buffalo, going with the plan and bringing it up towards her.
They came closer and closer. Olotti's heart started beating a little faster in anticipation, crouching low onto the ground. her muscles tensed until it was the perfect time. And then she leaped, catching the buffalo off guard as she knocked it to the ground, sinking her teeth into it's neck as it thrashed. It tried to throw Olotti off, but it didn't take long for it to grow weak until it finally gave up the fight, falling to the ground as the life drained from it's eyes.

Zawadi let out a small cheer as she watched Olotti take the buffalo down. "Impressive!" She slowly trotted towards the lioness, observing the meal before them. She nudged the animal with her nose, checking to make sure it was fully dead.
"You go first," she nodded to Olotti. "Your kill, you should have the first bite." The feline shot her a large grin before taking a seat next to the prey.

Olotti almost argued with the cheetah, but her stomach growled before she had a chance and she decided it wasn't worth the time. Nodding back at Zawadi, she dipped herself down and sunk her teeth into the fresh kill, savoring it. Being a loner, big prey like this could be few and far between. Once she'd taken the first bite and swallowed it, though, she resisted the temptation to eat more before looking up.
"Come on, join me." She said, and then went back to eating. She felt pretty good as the cheetah joined her and they ate at the carcass in silence. Everything seemed good then, eating with Zawadi. Dare she say, she even felt like she might have made a friend and companion here today.
