Maia was getting back into the swing of things. It was nearly three weeks since her roommates death and she was coping a bit better now so while she still mourned and found herself a bit more clingy with those she cared about, she still recognized her duty, now more that ever and so she powered up and headed out.
She was wearing a bit of concealer to hide her tired eyes because she hadn't been sleeping very well and she even been essentially bed hopping back and forth between her older siblings and even one of her best friends when she had decided she needed to go back to school. The semester was coming to an end just next month so she couldn't afford to fall behind now.
Maia headed to the park, which was essentially her place. It was large, with lots of trees and fairly deserted at night. It was good for training and many faces made there way through the park so it was a good place to touch bases. She would stay in the park for a bit to see if anyone came looking for her than head out for her patrol.

All of this was far too confusing for words. How was Tortali supposed to figure out who was on her side and who wasn’t. She was out again, shuffling around near the park, still hoping to catch a glimpse of the…well. The now ever elusive Sheena to ask some more questions. She had mistakenly attacked someone who was on her side, a page, and felt completely awful about it. It wasn’t that she was malicious, she had just panicked! It could happen to anyone, honest.
No, what she needed now was a crash course in senshi life. A mentor, a friend…someone stronger that she could look up to. Someone…
Tortali paused, looking around and spotting a very pretty looking redhead in a ruffly skirt with pretty white wings coming off of her outfit. Well…if this wasn’t a good guy, then she didn’t know what was. Nobody from the side of chaos would be wearing white angelish wings, now would they? That was just silly.
The newbie senshi approached slowly. “Um…excuse me…My name’s Sailor Tortali…and I’m really hoping that you’re uh…a senshi too, because if you aren’t…well, I have a lot of issues then and I’ll be on my way…”

Maia turned as the other was approaching her and smiled when Tortali introduced though her expression briefly took on a confused look when the girl seemed not to entirely realize she was indeed a senshi.
"Yes, I'm a senshi. I'm Sailor Maia. I'm guessing you haven't been doing this very long," she said waiting for the girl to make her way over to her before motioning to a bench not to far away.
"If your a bit confused, I can help you out. Like with being able to tell when someone is a senshi and when they are not and whether they are bad or good. There are a bunch of way to tell, but energy signatures tend to be the easiest way."
She headed over the benching hoping Tortali would follow, "we can sit and talk. Or we could even walk around the park for a bit". Maia didn't really care whether they sat or walked, but she did know she wasn't too keen about letting the girl run off alone if she was confused as to who her allies even were. She wasn't about to let a new senshi fall into the hands of a fast talking member of chaos. They could spins some lovely deceptions.

Tortali seemed completely relieved when Maia confirmed that she was indeed a senshi, and trotted over to the bench without much question. “I’m Sailor Tortali…and no, only for about a week or so. A really nice cat named Sheena came and woke me up…and we were supposed to talk about more senshi related things back at my house…but we uh…got a little distracted playing video games and…that was that.”
She sat on the bench, nodding. “I’ve felt energy signals…but I don’t know. They all feel the same to me right now, I guess. Like. My first night out here I ran into this redheaded creep who I swear was going to kill me if he had gotten the chance…he kept saying he was going to take my starseed—and speaking of that, what is a starseed. He seemed upset that I didn’t know what it was. Anyway, so the next night I was out I attacked first, and it was someone who was on my side I think? Some girl named Delphi…and I feel awful for attacking her…and I just need to figure out how to tell good from bad, so please help.”
The green haired girl drew in a breath and slumped against the bench. At least this girl seemed to know what she was doing, and that could mean that she would have advice for her to take…and a way to keep safe at night.

Maia sat on the bench, just in time for a second introduction and a torrent of word that she could hardly keep up with, but she thanked her stars that they were fairly standard questions. She supposed she was start with energy signatures as it was a little easier to explain.
She opened her hand holding it out in front of her and her phone popped right into before she started going through the phone to pull up the senshi primer. It would make things a little easier. She looked to Tortali, "summon your phone. Just think about it and it will come to you, then find the senshi primer in your phone. It's easy. It works pretty much the same as most smart phones."
"The senshi primer is a small guide that helps explain the basic and energy signatures in it, though starseeds are not. So first energy signatures. Right now you should be able to feel me, it will likely feel like a pretty strong, light, friendly feeling, whereas, if you run across a youma, negaverser, corrupted senshi or dark mirror senshi they will feel darker, evil, a very wary feeling you won't like." She looked to Tortali giving her a minute to process it before looking up to the sky and continuing on.
"As for a starseed, well, there isn't really a definite explanation as to what it is, but everyone has one and to me I always felt it was something of a soul. When removed you can't do much of anything, and if its is destroyed ... well you die."
She paused wondering just how much she should say. She didn't want to frighten Tortali, but she did feel the need to warn her the dangers of a negaverser wrapping their hand around a senshi's starseed.

Tortali seemed completely relieved that for one, the girl wasn’t overwhelmed with her questions, and number two, she was even going so far as to really give some good advice. “Okay. So…summon my phone…here…phone, phone, phone…come here…” The senshi was half joking, but seemed completely surprised when the phone did appear in her hand. “Well. That was kind of cool. I…huh. Sheena gave this to me and I had forgotten about it…”
The girl flipped through the primer for a moment, nodding as Maia explained just what it was for and what it was trying to explain…honestly all of the information was a lot, but…well.
She tried to really understand just what the senshi was talking about, and she thought she did understand. There had been those feelings, that was how she had known that the other people were in the area after all…and Maia’s did seem different than that one guys…and different than the girls as well. “Okay…I think I have that down now…so…the darker energies are bad ones and…”
Tortali faltered for a minute when Maia mentioned that the starseed that had been spoken of was her soul? What? “So uh…so he was trying to kill me then…well…that’s comforting…”

Maia couldn't help but to smirk at Tortali's phone summons, really she'd never seen anyone do it that way, but if that's what worked for the her than so be it. Though she probably mention later that Tortali might want to try a silent summons. She also noted that the girl was awakened by Sheena and noted that, she knew Sheena as well. That cat was a big help at her training session.
Maia nodded when Tortali stated that the darker energies were bad and pulled a frown when she seemed to realize that the negaverser may have actually been trying to kill her. "Yes, very probably and I know its a lot to think about. The negaverse seem to have gotten it into there heads that we do not belong here, us senshi, even the knights. They think that we want to take over earth, but we were all born here on earth so really I think its crazy. Just because I'm a reincarnation. Really it preposterous, a person could be the reincarnation of a lion, but that hardly makes them any less human. Assuming that's even possible."
She came out of her rant and looked to Tortali, "oh sorry. Is there anything else I can help you with. I'm happy to help with anything really?"

Tortali listened to this little rant and somewhere during it her mouth fell open just slightly. “Wait…are you saying that I’m a reincarnation? That stuff actually exists? I was someone else before?” Now that was just silly. Everything else she could believe…but this? This was just…this was just...
Very odd indeed.
Juniper wasn’t a very religious person, and while she wasn’t against any sort of religion…(Whatever helped you sleep at night, right?), she had always found the ones that advocated that when you died you either went to one place or another, made a lot more sense than the ones that said you could live a ton of lives until you reached the perfect one. (Because really. Who would want to live life as an ant?)
“Um…yeah…I just…I think we should talk again sometime…maybe um…Sheena told me it would be a good idea to go out in packs…er…pairs. Groups. That sort of thing…you know…so I don’t lose my soul or something dumb like that. Do you know of any groups I could go out with…maybe?”

Maia nodded with a soft smile and gave a small shrug, "that seems to be the way things work, for us senshi anyway. We were once the senshi of the celestial body we are named for. My star is Maia and it has it's own planet that Sailor Maia once guarded. It's quite beautiful, though deserted."
Maia hadn't ever been particularly religious herself, but she did believe in reincarnation, now anyway. It was hard not to when you had memories of a past life you supposedly lived, and you met several people who have two souls, so to speak. For her it was just another thing about being a senshi, she was a little jaded at times.
Maia smiled and nodded, happy to help. She liked being someone people could come to with problems and fears. It made her feel more and more like she was fulfilling her destiny or getting closer to it.
"Sheena's right," she said with a smile, "she's a pretty helpful little thing. Helped with my training session not to long ago, but let me not go off on a tangent. I think I might be able to help you with that. I have a group, so to speak, we're coming together slowly, it's a process, but we patrol together, train together and look out for one another. I'd be happy to have you join us. I can introduce you to them another night. We aren't many right now, but we're growing."

Juniper nodded, still trying to soak everything in, though finally she smiled. “I would love to join your group. It would be terribly helpful, I think. I’m not one who likes not knowing just what I’m doing…so your group sounds great. I like people looking out for me, that’s for darn sure.”
The girl grinned, holding out a hand to Maia. “You just got yourself a new member. Sailor Tortali at your service, Maia. I’m very glad that I got the chance to meet and talk with you…you’ve answered a lot of questions…but uh. Might have brought up even more. I think I’m going to need some serious time to digest all of this, if that’s okay? We should totally meet up again sometime soon though. I like having someone to talk about this stuff with. It makes me feel like I’m not as alone as I normally feel? I don’t know. I really was just thrown for about sixty loops when this all started…and someone like you is seriously a godsend.”
She shrugged then gave a laugh that only sounded slightly nervous. “So…thanks. Seriously. It’s helped a ton.”

Maia gave a really big smile and nodded, "Welcome to the group Tortali. We are very happy to have you and we all look out for each other. I'll help you with as much as I can and so will the other's."
Maia nodded once more shaking Tortali's hand, "it's a lot to take in, take the time you need to adjust. I don't want you to feel overwhelmed. But once you are ready we can meet up any time. I am typically in the park training with other's before I patrol. You can also contact me with your senshi cellphone."
Maia blushed slightly, "thank you. I don't want new senshi and knight to flounder as much as I did. I think having people to turn to, information on the what's going on and learning to protect yourself will help and is something we all could use."
"You're welcome Tortali. Why don't you head home now and digest," she said with a smile. "I should get in a patrol before the night is over, but I can walk you out of the park."
