Olotti dragged herself under the shade of a large tree, letting out a content sigh as the coolness washed over her fur. It was boiling hot today, but luckily it would be starting to get dark soon. Olotti was starving and she couldn't wait for the hot sun to set so she could hunt without feeling like she was going to pass out!
In the distance she could see the nearby watering hole, herds of animals congregating around it to get some fresh water. She had been eyeing a particular heard of zebra since earlier that day and had followed them here, one older one in particular caught her attention. Licking her lips a little bit, the lionesses waited patiently. It would be time soon.

Water. That's all she wanted. Water. The lithe cheetah halted, taking a moment to breathe in the warm air. Why was it so unbearably hot? Her eyes scanned back and forth, praying for some sign that water was near. The scent of multiple animals suddenly filled her nostrils, and she whipped around to find the source. Water. They're drinking. Despite her exhaustion and dehydration, she picked up her pace and headed in the direction of sweet salvation.

Thoughts of the waterhole and the prey had been abandoned in Olotti's mind for a while as her thoughts wandered a bit, turning over on her back and looking up at the few tiny clouds that dotted the grassland sky. It would be months before the rainy season came, cooling them off. For now, the hot dry season would make her suffer for a bit longer.
After a bit though, the thoughts were abandoned and Olotti turned over again to lay on her stomach. She drug her tongue over her paw to clean it, glancing casually down at the watering hole again and instantly perking up as her eyes fell on an interesting new figure coming towards it. She could barely make it, but she could recognize it as a feline, white in color. Maybe a cheetah?
Rising to her paws, the lioness moved to take a few steps towards the watering hole. As soon as she left the shade of the tree, the heat washed over her strongly again and she froze for a moment, rethinking her choice. But curiosity won over after a small second and she found herself heading quietly through the grass towards the watering hole as well.

Water. Water. Water. Water. Water.Zawadi's mouth seem to grow drier with every step. Once she reached the waters edge, she nearly plunged her entire face into the welcoming drink. As the water hit her tongue, her entire body relaxed, and she lay down. She became completely oblivious to the world around her; how long had it been since she had had water? Her entire body ached, her muscles exhausted and every inch of her dehydrated beyond belief. Animals of prey moved around her, frightened, hoping to escape unnoticed by the thirst-driven predator. Once she had her fill, Zawadi rolled over onto her side, pleased with herself for finding water before her body had given up. Constantly traveling was difficult.

Olotti watched from a small distance as the leopard drank, the prey that had been surrounding it running in every direction. The lioness felt a little disappointment when the old zebra she'd had her eye on zipped past her, losing her chance at that prey later. Trying to stay positive, she pushed those thoughts away. There would be more prey that would come, if not the same herd of zebra. There wasn't any other water for miles.
Turning her attention back to the cheetah, the young lioness saw that the cheetah was now laying on the ground. Olotti wanted to greet this new face, but she kept herself from doing so just yet. Other animals out here could be hostile, and she'd had her share of unfriendly meetings while on her own. Side stepping quite a bit, she walked towards the water a good distance away, lowering her head and taking a long drink, her eyes still on the cheetah.

Zawadi half-closed her eyes, comfortable by the watering hole despite the heat. A traveling break was much needed, and she would be crazy to leave what appeared to be the only spot for hydration for quite a ways.
She took deep, heavy breaths, the sweet smell of grass mixing in with the remaining scents of the animals who had been here previously. Zebra was most prominent, though she thought she could smell some hare as well. And was that... lion? Her eyes opened fully and she sat up to observe her surroundings.
Yes, she was right, lion. Across the pool, a lioness with a spotted pelt was also enjoying the refreshing water. Her tail flicked along the ground as she met the gaze of the other feline, not saying a word.

When the cheetah's eyes fell upon her finally, Olotti jumped just a little bit, her heart beating a little faster. It wasn't that often that she came across another animal like a feline, so it excited her to get some kind of social contact. Lions were social animals, after all, and she would always have a thirst to have contact with others similar to her.
Raising her head up, the lioness couldn't take it any longer. The other feline didn't seem hostile, so it seemed like it would be okay to greet her, right? Hopefully so, because Olotti found her paws moving her a few steps closer, stopping a small distance away from the cheetah. "Did you travel far? You seemed so thirsty." She said, greeting the stranger directly with a question.

The cheetah's ears perked as the lioness came closer to her. The other's feline's question seemed to genuine; there didn't appear to be any malice behind her voice.
"Y-yes, I did. I've been travelling for what feels like forever." She eyed the stranger carefully, making note of her face and features, and stopping to look into her purple eyes- such a strange and pretty color.
"Are you travelling as well, or...?" Her question trailed off.

Giving a quick nod, Olotti replied. "Yes, I have been." Flicking her ear a little, she glanced up towards the hill she'd been on and added. "I was resting up there, under that large tree. It shades out the sun completely." The cheetah seemed friendly enough, or at least not hostile, so she went out on a limb a little bit. "If you'd like to rest, you can come back up there with me. It's a lot better than laying in the sun.

Zawadi's eyes widened at the lioness's offer. Pausing for a moment to think, she felt the sun digging into her pelt with its harsh rays. Surely it'd be foolish of her to not accept the kind offer? But what if it was a trick?
Trick or not, the heat would quickly become unbearable once more, even by the water. "That's very kind of you to offer... It'd be nice to sit in the shade for a while." With that, she stood up slowly, giving her new acquaintance a nod.

Nodding in return, Olotti turned around and started to lead the other feline up towards the tree, a strange excitement filling her just because she had some company for once. Even if it was just for today, it was a break in the days of no contact with others at all besides prey animals. She led the cheetah up the hill completely and then once they reached the tree, she moved to sit herself back down on the ground.
Glancing at the cheetah for a bit, she smiled to herself without saying anything. Maybe this would just be a short meeting, or maybe she could actually make friends with this cheetah. Only time would tell.
