There was one thing he'd been meaning to do when he was promoted, and that was to have a re-match with Ofelia. Sure, she was a full hunter now, and even with a promotion, he probably wasn't anywhere near as strong as her, but Jake was stubborn. If he was able to make her struggle even a little, he'd be satisfied.
Chester, on the other hand, obviously wasn't happy at all, considering what happened during their last spar.
The trainee only grunted. Of course he did. He had the scar to prove it too. But regardless, there'd be times when he'd be up against opponents he had no chance of winning against. In such cases, it wasn't easy to just give up and ask for mercy. Doing that meant death. So if anything, he would learn how to deal with it. Learn to be stronger, stronger so that he wouldn't lose. The day he beat Ofelia... he grinned. What a day it would be.
Already at the training grounds, he pulled out his phone, sending a text to the redhead.-Rown Text to Ofelia: Up for a spar? I'll be at the training grounds. With that, he pocketed the cell, and smirked. Of course she'd say yes. She'd never pass up a chance to show him up.

After a few moments of time Ofelia appeared at the training ground. Her hair was still dripping a few drops of water here and there and her skin was giving off a wonderful smell of soap, sun, and what could not be mistaken as anything other than rusty blood. Either the woman had been bathing in it before she decided to take a shower or she was simply having a good time ahead of this text to spar. It didn't matter though, she was clean and here and the way she rubbed her hands as she looked around maybe indicated that this could have been a bad idea.
A bad idea for Jake that is. "Well howdy Kiddo. S'been'a while since Ah've seen ya, how ya doin'?" Ofelia asked. More or less the last time she'd really seen him was after she'd laid down the law on him and left his body comatose for a while. That adventure had been fun.

Hearing footsteps, he turned, smirking at the sun hunter. "What'd you do? Put another trainee out of their misery?" He only grinned as he watched her rub her hands together. Good. That meant she was eager for a fight. "I've been good. Alive." The word was emphasized, as if he were taunting her for not finishing him off.
The weapons were summoned, and he faced Ofelia, holding them up. "But let's cut the small talk, shall we?"

Ofelia's shoulder twitched slightly as she kept a grin plastered to her face. It was an uneasy grin, an unhinged grin, and she cracked her knuckles loudly as Rue was summoned. The familiar silence flooded her mind and eased out the thoughts from earlier, from running and chasing down that student who screamed beneath Rue's blades.
The redhead didn't like the silence and the grin on her face swiftly vanished as she assumed a fighting stance. It was like she hadn't even heard Jake's taunts or didn't even bother to respond to them. She'd nearly killed him once and she knew it.
She could easily do it again if pressed to it and, considering he invited her this time, if she actually did kill him it would be an accident. Maybe his screams would echo in her mind for a while and the silence would go away. There was an almost feral look in her eyes as she flexed her fingers, ready.

He wasn't coming towards her and so the silence remained. It was deafening, she could hear her own heartbeat thudding inside her ears, and Ofelia shook it off as she decided to make the first move. Considering all the bluffing Jake had made it appeared he was still a bit nervous around her and not wanting to raise his hand.
She would make sure to put him down, slowly at first, and the first swipe Ofelia took the redhead made sure to keep as shallow as possible. This fight wouldn't end quickly, not if she had anything to say about it. Ofelia also wouldn't allow him to try and give up again - she would make sure to knock him down and bleed him out first.

To say that he was nervous was an understatement. He was TERRIFIED. Ofie had already proved she was more than capable on incapacitating him, and being an intermediate wouldn't really change that fact. Perhaps he'd last a bit longer, but it wasn't hard to see who the victor would be in the long run.
He only frowned. Sometimes, things wouldn't always work out. He just had to learn how to deal with it.
Somehow, the first hit hadn't been as hard as he expected, and his FEAR shield had no problem absorbing the attack, but if he knew Ofie, she was only going to prolong it. Torture him as long as she could. He wasn't going to give her the benefit of the doubt, and he delivered a counter-attack, albeit weak. He was just getting warmed up, too.

Jake's attack to Ofelia did nothing, absolutely nothing. Her shield didn't even register the attack and she responded in turn with a shallow swipe meant only to pull up her charge to a higher level.
The amount of damage she was doing could be considered paltry but, when fighting Ofelia, it was the small damage that mattered the most.

He knew Ofie could dish out more damage, but he wasn't sure why she was prolonging it. Was it... pity, perhaps? Was she toying with her? Anger began to override fear.
"Ofelia. I'm not a kid. Don't feel like you have toy with me." He grit his teeth as he pulled his arm back, swinging the blade at her with full force. "Take. Me. SERIOUSLY."

A smirk crossed Ofelia's face, or perhaps it was a cruel grin, and as soon as Jake impacted into the woman she lowered one of her arms down and changed her stance entirely. She stepped out of her flip flops and twisted her torso ever so slightly to the left before taking a deep breath. Without any hesitation she launched herself at him as the shield around her accepted the attack from before and settled back to normal.
Her blades were far more cruel this time than before, the attack far sharper. It served as she wanted and Jake had pressed her so there was nothing to fear. The red runes started to roar and dance on the weapon and appeared as though they were spreading up Ofelia's arm. It was time to attack again, time to dance and party.
She wanted to paint it all red.

Crud, it looked like she was actually starting to get serious. He grunted as the hit tore into his shield, Chester doing his best to persuade him to just give up, but he refused. No, he didn't come this far just to acknowledge defeat. He had trained his a** off, went on missions, did so many stupid dumb grunt work. He wasn't that feeble trainee who ended up completely pathetic when his weapon was out of commission. He was DIFFERENT.
"Don't think I'm just going to let you have your way." he hissed, slashing at her again.

Jake hit her again, hard, and Ofelia used that chance to send her charge off into the ground. It wasn't like the thing would actually connect anyway and there was something more fun about tearing into a person with one's own hands. Cheating and using a charge to take them down felt....wrong.
Impersonal, really. Ofelia grinned the same wicked grin and stepped back to take the charge she knew Jake was ready to release. Let him be a coward and use it on her, she dared him. Only a real man would fight without using it and Jake....was no real man in her opinion. Let him get angry that she didn't use her charge and watch him make a mistake.
It was more fun to see him squirm.

Ofelia might be giving herself a handicap, but Jake was taking any opportunity he could. IN a REAL fight, showing mercy got you killed. Besides, she was already a powerhouse as is without her charge.
He watched as she dispelled her charge into the ground, and frowned. "You shouldn't have wasted that, you know." The runes on his own weapons began to glow, shrouding the area around them in darkness as shadowy tendrils shot up from the ground, wrapping around her arms and legs, holding her down.
"Because I, for one, am not going to hold back."

He knew the illusion (it WAS just an illusion) had the sun hunter immobilized, but he still couldn't get over how realistic it was.
This he knew, yet... he couldn't bring himself to move. Seeing the tendrils only brought back unpleasant memories, and rather than taking a step forward, he stepped back, fear immobilizing him.
