There was a part of Remarque that supposed he had never really liked wraiths. Creepy, indignant little rodents who appeared for energy and disappeared on a whim. In all the time he'd been a senshi, he'd never once bonded one, never once found one anything more than tolerable.

And now they were just a damned pain.

Wraiths sneaking out to discretely gather energy was one thing. Wraiths attacking anything with energy? That put him on the menu, and that was absolutely intolerable. His evenings had promptly turned from gathering energy to gathering the wraiths and shoving them back through mirrors before they got themselves killed. Without Ares around, he didn't know how the hell they were supposed to get more, and if these little bastards were getting themselves killed—what was the Dark Mirror Court supposed to—stand by and watch?

…It was absolutely not on Remarque's agenda.

So he was out, feeling like a little old woman searching for a runaway cat. Except with the addition of a mirror the size of a large dinner platter tucked under one arm. The wraiths couldn't be controlled, but he could send them back to Mirrorspace; his shards didn't seem to have the ability draw the strays back in (or the strays were just too rebellious to want to return) but a mirror? He'd get them back in one piece, no problem. If he could just find them, anyway.

Iris could not say that she was the expert on the Dark Mirror Senshi. In fact, she was far from it, only having limited interactions with them as a group.

However, she was rushing off to meet up with Eunomia for a patrol, and for once, it was Iris that was running behind schedule.

And unfortunately it seemed as if that delay was only going to get longer when the eternal senshi caught sight of a familiar Dark Mirror Senshi. Perhaps if he hadn't been carrying such an noticeable mirror under his arm, she might have ignored him and continued on her way to meet with Eunomia.

However, it had caught her attention and now she had to investigate. She quickly summoned her senshi phone and sent Eunomia a quick message.

Running behind. Wait for me. I am still coming.

Certainly, her own aura wasn't going to allow her to hide discreetly, but that didn't prevent the yellow suited senshi from trying to lag behind a good distance while keeping an eye upon the other blonde.

Remarque was fairly used to auras flickering in the distance, coming and going. For a while, he forgave the buzzing sensation of an order signature somewhere behind him. It didn't take long before it started to annoy him. Whoever it was wasn't moving fast enough towards him that they wanted to keep up with him, but wasn't moving fast enough away form him that they wanted to lose him.

It was distracting, trying to search for wraiths while also trying to deduce what the hell this senshi was doing, and whereas he had no wraiths and one senshi nearby, it was easy for him to redirect his course.

"Can I help you?" Remarque finally snapped, turning to face the senshi behind him. Though he could feel her, he didn't immediately see her. Her distance spared her that recognition, though now that his patience had been tried, he was willing to say just about anything to lure his newfound nuisance into his line of vision so he could get rid of them and get back to work.

Iris had been lingering behind, but she hadn't really been trying to be stealthy. Instead, she had been walking along nonchalantly with both of her hands behind her head, feet shuffling up into decent sized steps.

Eventually the target had turned around and called out to her. She didn't attempt to hide then. Instead she just stood there, coolly keeping her hands behind her head.

There was no point in staying so far away now.

Soon enough she filled in the gap between them. As she made her way closer, she called back "...So... what's a class act like yerself doin' in a place like this? With... that...?" Her head bobbed towards the mirror.

She squinted her eyes as she started to make out specific features. Iris had fought this guy before. "....Remarque... wasn't it?" She still seemed to have a decent memory for faces and names, especially guys who purposely introduced themselves at other times.

"I'm preening," he said, making absolutely no effort to hide the snark in his voice. He remembered Iris—remembered what it was like for a girl to actually be a challenge. Needless to say, he wasn't impressed when she approached. He was a bit sore from their last run in—or, at least, the one he remembered. If he'd known Iris was responsible for the distinctive burning sensation during their last ambush, he certainly would have held her on another level of contempt, entirely.

He shifted positions so the mirror was more comfortable to hold. "What are you doing?" he prompted, adding, "Sans stalking, of course. Did you want to take a peek in the mirror, fix up your makeup…? Here." He held up the mirror so it captured her reflection. "I'll even hold it for you."

Anything to distract her from the actual reason for the mirror; he didn't want the White Moon knowing anything more than they already did about the loose wraiths.

"Only fags preen." He obviously had some sort of stick up his butt about her, so despite the fact she approached, she made certain to stop at a reasonable distance of 10 feet. Give the guy some space to breathe, but be close enough where she could judge the situation for herself.

She stood there, hands still behind her head as he questioned her motives. His sarcasm was glaring and as he held the mirror up at her, her eyes narrowed a bit.

She had never been the vain sort, so looking at herself in the mirror was not a very good distraction. "Just curious what a Dark Mirror Senshi is doin' with a mirror like that out 'ere... and I am pretty sure yer not havin' a makeup party..." She might not have known all of the abilities that those particular types of senshi had, but she had a pretty good idea that Mirrors were involved.

In a plain tone, she added "...so jus' put down th'mirror and stop bein' a jackass and out with it!"

Remarque snorted and, despite his last encounter with the senshi, took a more casual stance so he could comfortably address her. "It's a shame such nasty things come out of that pretty little mouth of yours. What do you care what I'm doing with this?" he asked, looking at the piece. "It's a mirror. Oh, real lethal. I couldn't even squeeze through this if I was trying to get some place in a hurry. Literally, this is just a mirror. Nothing special, no hidden motives." Well. There were hidden motives; he just didn't want to tell her what he was doing with it. He attempted to change the subject without drawing too much attention to the matter; "Would you have stopped me if I was carrying a picnic basket? Because really, that's far more suspicious in my book."
PostPosted: Thu Apr 25, 2013 9:50 pm

"Yer dodgin'..." was her observation.

There was a combination of sarcasm and avoidance that seemed to be adding together into something suspicious. However, she kept her tone distant enough that it didn't sound like she was truly suspicious herself.

She eventually lowered one arm from behind her head, but it was brief. The yellow suited senshi gestured loosely around before returning her hand back to its spot behind her head. "...actually... we're pretty f*ckin' close to th'park, so a basket wouldn't be all that suspicious... could be goin' out on a retarded date or somethin'..." She shrugged before returning to the real subject at hand.

"...that mirror is definitely more suspicious than a picnic basket..."

"Seriously? It's the middle of the night and I'm by myself. You think I'm the type of guy who wants to treat himself to a starlight picnic by himself? If I was going to go on a picnic, it wouldn’t be in this getup, and it wouldn’t be alone."

He huffed, though perhaps just because he was buying time. There wasn't really any debate in it; he didn't want to give her more information than necessary.

Except that was really hard to do when there was a wraith prowling a good few yards behind her. It was out for energy but hadn't decided to make its way towards them; Remarque figured it must have found some wild critter, trying to nap while the city was quiet. His lips were pursed, as though he were ready to say something else, though the unexpected arrival broke his concentration. His eyes drifted from the girl in front of him to the wraith.

Even in the darkness and with the distance between them, he could make out that it was a small, rodent-type shape; it was the size of a cat but the shape of some mutated sewer rat, waddling as though it owned the place.

"So," he said slowly, drawing out the word. He forced himself to look back at Iris, trying to keep the thing at least in his peripheral so he could track it down as soon as she was gone. It was a more difficult task than he cared to admit; it wasn't exactly hiding, but it kept adjusting course, wandering in one direction and then violently jerking in another. His eyes flicked from her to it more than once. "Now that we've got that settled, I don't know, maybe you should go do something fun. Go bother a youma or something. You know, whatever you senshi do."

"Yer so full'a sh*t... it's gettin' kinda hilarious..." Her golden eyes were watching his face the whole time and many things seemed off. Especially with how his eyes kept looking at something else. It wasn't a constant gaze like he was trying to avoid looking at her. It was a distracted look, the sort where eyes would drift from one thing to another and back.

She didn't even look to see what it was, but instead asked "...So yer tellin' me that whatever's behind me... ain't got nothin' t'do with what yer doin' right now?" Once more, one of her hands abandoned its place behind her head, but this time it had more purpose. She brought it to her side and balled it up into a fist which soon enough began to start glowing dimly.

She was preparing a Rainbow Ribbon, though what for, even she didn't really know.

Remarque tried to stop his lip from twitching. Dryly, he replied, "Iris, I'm really going to have to ask you not do that. If you want to go smash something, go find a General. If you absolutely must know, what's behind you is directly related to what I'm doing right now. So if you'd be so kind as to step aside…? I mean, really, it's your choice. Either you move or I make you move. I will break this mirror over your head if need be, but I think we can avoid that all together if you'll just let me take care of that?"

He nodded his head, as if to direct the senshi's attention to the wraith; in that brief second, he wondered if it could distract her for long enough for him to remove her from the picture entirely…though the fact of the matter was, she seemed more than ready to attack, and even if he was an eternal too, he didn't want to risk her getting to the wraith before he got to her.

The wraith seemed oblivious that it had been spotted, still scurrying around haphazardly.

After the Dark Mirror Senshi had spoken, the tomboy held out her balled up fist of a hand so he could see it, then opened up the hand. Such a simple action banished away all the gathered energy for her attack.

"See... was that so hard?" He had shared the necessary information, and as she glanced to the side to see what was indeed behind her, she took a long step to the side, to allow Remarque to do whatever it was he was intending on doing. It was from her new side-spot that she managed to see what it was he was dealing with.

"...so what th'hell is that, anyways? It's a far cry from the youma or those 'monsters' from yer asteroid..."

Remarque snorted indignantly, giving her a look before he walked towards the mirrorwraith. He didn't imagine he owed the eternal senshi information, though he avoided responding to her first question in favor of mocking the second. "What, you've never seen a mirrorwraith? Afraid their exclusive to this planet. Why, have you been doing some off world exploration or something? Wasn't aware I had property up for visitation."

It was easy to remind himself that the White Moon Senshi were full of lies and deceit, though that certainly didn't stunt Remarque's curiosity. He'd heard some weird things come out of Iris' mouth, but this one especially had caught his attention.

While he was somewhat displeased with the idea of keeping his back to the girl, it didn't stop him from presenting it as he crept closer to the wraith, wielding the mirrors in both hands as he tried to figure out just how he was going to make this work.

Odd things coming from Iris' mouth was perhaps going to be the trend for the evening. If she thought it through a bit more, maybe she would have realized it wasn't the best idea to give the Dark Mirror Senshi any ideas. However. that was a problem with having two sets of memories. It was hard to remember where the dividing line was at times. What might have been acceptable at one time might not have been appropriate anymore.

"Can't say I've had the pleasure of seeing such a little retard of a creature..."

There was a long pause before her tone seemed to gain an odd sort of gentle seriousness to it. "The property isn't for you to visit. The you that you currently are won't ever be able to reach it or truly understand it. The senshi from before... that is his right."

She didn't know all the dynamics of what these Dark Mirror Senshi truly were, but simply from her memories alone, she knew there was something off about the Remarque that was there in front of her now.

Remarque snorted when she referred to the wraith as a 'retard of a creature'; they certainly were, but they were the only tools he had for gathering energy. It was one thing when he insulted them, but her?

He didn't have time to debate the acceptability of her insulting the retard of a creature in front of him; her next words made him stop and turn to look at her. One brow raised high, he gave her a most curious expression. "What the hell are you talking about? What me is there but this one?"

She was damn right he didn't understand it; so far as he could tell, she was babbling nonsense. As most senshi were prone to do. Even if she was strangely more coherent now than usual, she was still talking strangely.

There were poor, misguided souls, after all. With misguided goals, and misunderstandings of the world around them. If there was some place out there—some place that was his (but not his) he wanted to know more about it.

He wanted to make it his. ******** whoever else she was talking to; if it had his name stamped on it, he wanted it.
