Emotions. Rep was frankly ******** sick of them. He felt hungover from other people's troubles, as if by dealing with relationships and problems that he'd lost some key part of himself, like hurting and vulnerability had hollowed him out and left him empty. Memories had surfaced too close to the bone and he had found himself feeling like a weak and helpless child again. He felt soft, pathetic and unmanly.

What he needed was a ******** fight, he needed to hurt someone, needed to push himself to that place where there was nothing but physical effort and rage. Fists didn't cut it. He needed Tracey, needed the charge like a hit of the best drug in the world.

Checking his phone, he sent a text to the main person he knew who didn't seem to mind being harassed for anything at all, and who would be mean enough to handle him summoning Tracey. Also there was some deep seated joy in pushing Jerry to that place where he stopped being passive and pushed back. Danger was always a thrill.

To Jerry
Come spar. I'm bored.

He hadn't been surprised by the text, but that didn't mean he had expected it.

"I thought you weren't supposed to spar," Jerry murmured carefully as he spotted Rep on the training field. He kept his distance, for now. His expression was unreadable, the dim, fog-defused sunlight flashing white across his glasses.

Rep had been sitting on one of the wrecked dummies strewn around but he got up as Jerry approached, flicking his hair out of his face.

"I'm no." he said gruffly. "But what I'm supposed to do and what I want to do are two ******** separate things. I want to fight, and I want to use Tracey. If you don't think you can handle that, then just turn around and walk right ******** back out of here."

It was a bad idea, it was, but right now he didn't care. He felt hurt and he didn't even know why, like he'd been taken for a fool when there was no definable point when he had been. It had to be the lingering feeling of being a stupid kid trying to control an adult world he didn't understand. Well there was one ******** thing he did understand and that was combat, he was owed a bit of ******** control again.

Some small part of him knew people would be angry at him for disregarding the rules, but lately he felt that it didn't even ******** matter, because people got angry at him anyway. Even when he tried to plan things out and consider all the risks, to eliminate things that could go wrong. Behaving was massively over-rated.

"So, what do you say?"

"If you're sure." Jerry thought about it for only a moment before Roar materialized on his shoulder before Rep could close the gap between them.

Dummies just didn't do it.

"It's your funeral," was his only warning before the skinny Sun planted his feet, took aim, and fired.

Would they get in trouble? Rep, maybe. He'd heard what the man had done to so many people, many on equal terms as far as training. Jerry didn't care. He had been doing a lot of thinking between the prison cell and now, re-evaluation.

Rep shrugged as Jerry summoned Roar, dropping into his own battle stance and summoning Tracey just in time as the attack rattled hard off of his shield. It stung even for just an opener. He didn't expect anything less from Jerry, the guy might have been a wet blanket socially, but he could fight.

It just plain felt good to be holding the massive axe again, as if he'd regained some balance and control.

He knew. But everything seemed capable of landing them in trouble lately, no matter what they did.

"Aye well. Make sure its a nice one."

He was out of practice, dummies were different from living, breathing people. Half the challenge would just be getting ******** near to Jerry without taking point blank shots that made the first one look like nothing at all.

He held his ground, at least for the time being, hoping for some kind of opening.

Rep moved, but seemed wary to close the distance. He was smarter than Jerry gave him credit. He breathed in deep through his nose, felt the assuring purr of Roar in the back of his head.

Maybe Sasha was right. Well, wrong in some ways, but right in others. There was only one way people would respect him.

He pulled the trigger with a sharp exhale, Roar bursting forth with a blast of sound and light that ripped up the ground under it's shock wave in a massive claw mark between him and the other Sun.

This brought back memories. It really did. He remembered how ******** abysmally it had gone the last times he'd fought Jerry, right back to that first week when he'd picked a fight with the other sun that was more than he could handle. To this day Jerry was an affront to Rep, his determined lack of fight with other people almost intolerable.

Yet he would fight back against him. He didn't know if he should feel special or not, or just distinctly easy to hate.

Range was an absolute b***h, and he was too slow to bring the flat of Tracey up in time to block the shockwave of fear that collided with him. It was enough to send him skidding back across the ground himself, keeping his balance only by driving Tracey into the dirt.

"FOR ******** SAKE." he snarled, frustrated at his own lack of form, regaining his composure and drawing the axe again. "I don't know what's ******** wrong with me today!" he just wanted to ******** hurt something, why was something so primal and simple, so ******** difficult?!

He pulled his shot deliberately high, sound and green light crashing above Rep to just clip him, hopefully knock him off balance, but not as dead-on. "You want me to go EASY on you? You said you wanted to FIGHT, Scotty!"

"I'd sooner ******** DIE than have someone like you have to go ******** easy on me!" Rep snarled, still a bit dazed by his own ineptitude at getting into the fight. This ******** rule had made him rusty and he was just glad right now he was facing that versus another hunter than trying to on some godforsaken ******** battlefield.

He hauled the axe out of the ground in a fluid movement, charging forward rapidly before swinging him out to the furthest reach the handle permitted and bringing him down in a huge overhand cleave. That was a bit more ******** like it.

The Ax came crashing down, and if it wasn't for his fear shield, Jerry was sure he would have been cleaved in two. "Would it be THAT shameful? To loose to me?" Jerry spat as he rolled out of the way, his coat and jump suit torn and stained with blood from wounds that were already Fear Healed. "Am I that much of a JOKE to everyone?" Roar was up again, only this time Rep had landed himself just a few feet away, anchored down by his heavy weapon in the dirt.

The ringing in his ears that drowned out the rest of the world became a song, the most soothing song that reached him down into his bones as the light nearly blinded them both.

Still, he held his ground even as the dust settled, his eyes wild.

Rep laughed bitterly. "Aye. It would. But I still do it all the ******** time don't I?" Jerry was a joke as far as Rep was concerned, a joke where he was his own punchline, strong and talented with no capacity to realise what he actually was. The way the sun hunter saw it, the man would rather wallow in self pity and what the world owed him than pursue what he wanted.

It felt good in a way to be able, for just a ******** moment to see Jerry ******** fight and mean it, to vent like anyone else without stammering and stuttering, strong and decisive.

He squinted in the light, green sparks clouding his vision even as he shut his eyes. There wasn't time to block the hit, and he wasn't sure if he even wanted to in the first place. It careened with his fear shield in a blast that was like being hit by a train, enough even with Tracey to send him sprawling to the ground. He sighed irritably, hauling himself to his feet again, the pain as Tracey hurriedly mended his scratches and bruises a delusion of power. He wanted a charge like a junkie needing a hit, but with this range, he knew he wasn't going to get it.

He swung, not to harm, just to clip, anything, absolutely anything from the other man's fear shield.

"The only thing that's really a ******** joke about you Jerry. Is that you believe you are one."

Jerry could barely hear Rep over the ringing in his ears, but the words sank in like a frustrating fog. With an animal sound in the back of his throat, he swung his cannon like a massive, spiked club, quills slashing. "YOU HAD ENOUGH YET?"

Better judgement said he had had enough. The feel of Tracey backed it up.

He didn't care.

"Never." he snarled, swinging again, but still not ******** close enough.

"I'm NOT ANYONE'S DOORMAT," Jerry was screaming as he dodged the blade, barely even registering the knick to his arm that healed almost immediately. Roar was swung around again, "I AM THE ALPHA WOLF, YOU HEAR ME?" Again, the heavy, quill-armored weapon was swung against Rep's head, and down again and again as the man hit the dirt. By the time the blood was flowing and staying, he had dropped the bazooka, his skinny fists slamming into flesh outright.

Roar wasn't sure what to say- in the throws of battle, swollen with Fear and a good fight, the weapon merely watched and purred in approval, like watching a howler pup take down it's first deer on it's own. Natural. Proper. Until common sense finally waded through the bloated belly of Fear in his mind and he hissed urgently, Stop. STOP you idiot, he's down, it's just a spar. You won.

"Of course I won!" He spat to the air, the world spinning with pumping adrenalin.

And then he registered the blood soaking through his coat and jumpsuit, covering his hands.

"Oh.... h-hell. Ah... Rep?"
