Melvin left his things in his room and after a shower to calm his nerves, a shot of whiskey, brushing his teeth to get rid of the smell, and a pep talk that essentially broke down to 'Grow a pair of balls', Melvin went to Rin's dorm.
He was already frayed beyond belief, but he knew that the momentum of today would be the only thing carrying him to this point. If he slept on it, he would just wait and hope she would eventually come around. Being indirect wasn't like him, and he knew it.
Taking a breath, he knocked.

There was a long pause before a soft thud could be heard before footfalls, one after another, approached the door. The doorknob jiggled then Rin opened the door. She was still in a mint green bathrobe and her hair slicked down and dripping from being recently washed. She reeked of peppermint, likely he interrupted her brushing her teeth. She looked confused at first... then dazed as if what she saw was not cooperating with her thought processes. She blinked. Blinked again. Her brows furrowed. Now?! He chose now to come to her? After she was finally ready to lick her wounds and try facing life again?
"Yes?" She snapped at him irritably.

The door opened to the smell of peppermint (Colgate? Crest? Sensodyne? Damn, he wasn't sure!) and a yet dried Lifer staring at him. He stared in much the same way, but his thought process was more that he just HAD to have caught her when she was out of the shower. Of all the damn times he had to catch her to have this sort of conversation, and suddenly he felt as if he was having a bit of deja vu. He watched water bead at the tips of inky black hair, dripping onto terrycloth mint green, and swallowed.
At the snap, he shot his attention straight back into her eyes and focused. "We should talk."

Damn right they should talk... "Okay. What about?" She played coy, hoping he already knew someway on his own what he'd done. She was unaware he was focused at all on any part of her.

Melvin was dead focused now, forcing himself not to let his eyes wander. He was here for...reasons...Right. Right. Yes. He remembered.
"You haven't talked to me since the greenhouse. Do you plan on avoiding me now?"

"I was in the jungle. Camping." That's all. "I'm not avoiding you; I'm avoiding life." her eyes crossed a little. "Is that the only reason you want to talk?"

He just looked at her. "You're lying." He breathed out, crossing his arms as he still remained out in the hallway. He glanced around and then back at her, shifting his weight just a bit.
"You left fight after my answer." He didn't want to throw Rep under the bus, but if Rin kept avoiding him, he'd call her out on her lies.

"I'm not lying. I was avoiding everything, not just you." She frowned irritably at him. "You just set the ball rolling is all." She would have invited him in if they were on better terms but as it was...

"But you were still avoiding me." He pointed out, seeing as she just said it.
He continued sort of shifting his weight about in the hallway. Out in the opening having a conversation like this where anyone from any dorm could hear them was putting him on edge.
"Are you....going to keep avoiding me?"

"I don't know what you want from me, Melvin," Rin noticed he was starting to look anxious and frowned. What the hell had his panties in a twist. "Are you in such a hurry to leave, then?"

He frowned at her. "No. I came here because I wanted to talk to you because you didn't give me a chance after. I thought you'd talk to me later, but it seems you're done with me. I just wanted to see if that was true." He was upset that she was snapping at him. Rep made it sound as if she was crying into her pillow, but she seemed pretty strong right now.

"Then why are you moving like you are being impatient and wanting to leave?" She gestured at him. All of him as if that explained it.

He sighed. "I was thinking this was going to be a big..." He gestured vaguely. "....open....emotional talk, and I only wanted you to hear it and not everyone in the hallway." Now he felt just more uncomfortable.

"I already gave all the emotion I had to give," she finally gestured for him to enter. "I'm tapped dry Melvin. I just don't know what you want from me. I've already given all I've had to give."

"I was talking about me this time." He stated, but now regretted being here. She wanted nothing more than to snap at him, and he felt that that alone meant that there was no saving what they had.
At the gesture, he slowly stepped in, but he didn't move too far from the door.
"I still want to be with you. I enjoy your company. I thought we could still be friends." He had hoped that anyways and looked at her to see if that was confirmed or not.
