Despite all that had happened in the last two weeks Shang found himself out tonight. He wasn't patrolling, so much as simply wandering. He barely took note of where he was or what was going on around him. This was more a break than anything. His day time life had been extremely hectic and the stress was piling up. It was nice to just be Shang for a bit, to feel like he had a purpose, but be able to achieve said purpose at his own pace, or something to that affect.
He stopped looking around, pulling off his hat and running his hand over this red curls. "This life of mine," he said out loud to no one in particular. "I need another vacation."
He frowned slightly. It wouldn't be until after December with that would happen. He would need to finish his residency first.

Okay.
So Merlinite had learned in his recent encounters that he was supposed to be gathering information for his new team thing, and that he was not supposed to run in and fight things that felt stronger than him. Because that resulted in getting himself beaten up, and he was not a fan of that.
He was grown a** man, after all. He did not need teenagers beating him up all the freaking time. He was going to have to figure out a way to gauge his opponents better. Maybe figure out these aura things a bit better, though he was still sure he wasn't able to feel them right.
But maybe that just came in time.
He felt another aura and moved toward it, this time calling his weapon first. He saw the knight, decided they had to be closer in power levels than the last guy, and he leaped out of the shadows and rushed to attack as fast as he could.
Maybe he could get the drop on this guy, and give himself an advantage.

Shang hadn't been really paying attention so the feeling of another came just a little to late. He turned just as Merlinite got to him, eyes go wide, and stumbling backwards on to his bottom, before doing something of a crab walk in an attempt to get away. Shang was not much for cursing, but the words feel out of his mouth before he really had a chance to process them, “What the hell, man?”
He rolled, summoning his weapon and attempting to spring to his feet. He really didn't feel like this at the moment and wasn't much for fighting. He just thanked his wonder this time his attacker was a male. He was a bit less wary of hitting another guy, though he still had not desire to try to hurt him or anyone for that matter. Really he was already beginning to feel that wasn't his role in all this.

Merlinite was a little thrown by the knight's reaction to being attacked. Were they not supposed to be so obvious about it? There was a thought that hadn't occurred to the new Negaverse soldier before that moment. He had heard something about being stealthy, hadn't he?
His brain had focused on fighting and being strong, and now gathering information about his enemies. He had not considered, though, that he should do so from the shadows or at least with some subtlety.
He would reconsider his tactics later. For now, he had a fight on his hands.
"Better get moving, dude!" Merlinite grinned, charging without much pause as Shang was getting to his feet. Maybe if he kept the speed on, the pressure on, then the knight wouldn't have much of a chance to gather himself and fight back. He charged and pulled his baton back, swinging for Shang's face.

Shang was up, not that it actually matter, for as soon as he was up, he was attempting to dodge a baton to the face. He slung back, still the baton gave his cheek a nasty slash and he could feel his balance going. He figured however, if he was going down so was the other.
As soon as hit the ground groaning, he ignored the pain that ran over his shoulders and down his back. He swung his left leg, rolling with the motion to try to take out Merlinite's right knee and bring him down to the ground. It would give him time to hop up and readying himself. He could clearly see this wasn't a fight be would be getting away from very easily.
Why were all the negaversers clearly crazy? Was it a requirement to be a little touched in the head to be apart of the forces. The answer to Shang was obvious and he found himself feeling the need to examine a few of there head, even though he was an ER doctor and not a psychiatrist.

This was fun!
Okay, so he needed to target people who felt like this, closer to his own 'power level', he supposed. He was having a much better time of this than with that stronger guy, anyway, and that was a delight. He could really get behind fighting, though he was supposed to be gathering information.
He would have to temper his eagerness, and stick to the task assigned to him.
Next time...
The kick to his knee caught him off guard and he fell a bit, the knee that was struck giving out and hitting the ground while his other leg struggled in the same moment to right him. It left him half kneeling, but he saw his opponent had already gotten to his feet again.
"Nice shot," he said, nodding his head. The more he fought, the more he could learn about styles, and moves .So even losing had its benefits, though he would be damned if he lost too many: he was here to get stronger, to move up, to prove himself. Not be a punching bag.
"What's your name, pal? You can call me Merlinite." Information gathering started with names, right?

Shang was of the opposite thought, he didn't think be attacked randomly was fun in the least, really he didn't find fighting fun, ever, necessary for defending one's self, but not fun.
He was grateful at least to be able to get back on his feet, even if he didn't knock the other completely down. Merlinite had at least went down on one knee and Shang made a note to remember the move, because would be very useful if he could prefect it.
Shang shot the negaverser a very confused looked at being complimented and it only cemented his belief that being crazy was probably a requirement for joining the negaverse. "Uh thank you," she said warily backing up. His fist were raised to guard himself, but it was clear that he would not make an offensive move at the moment.
Pal? ... Shang was really looking at him as if he'd grown a second head. It was almost as if he was treating this like a spar, like training that he'd do with another knight or senshi. "Shang," he said not really wanting to elaborate or even wanting to give his name to this guy.
"Why exactly did you attack me?"

Shang! Would that be good information to bring back to Zinkenite? It did not seem like a lot, really, just one name and he did not know what team this guy was on. Or did they not have teams within their ranks, like the Negaverse did with Spec Ops and Information and the like?
There was a lot Merlinite did not know, and he would have to catch up with what information was common knowledge before he could even begin to start collecting new and useful information for his boss.
But he was determined, and he would take down as many notes on whatever he could, mentally at least, until he was getting those gems of information that were going to launch him to the top.
Oh, he was determined now.
"That's what we're supposed to do, right, Shang? I mean. Attack each other. We're not on the same side, and I have to beat you so I can become stronger." He was having doubts though. Maybe they weren't supposed to just announce themselves like he was doing. Subtle seemed to be the name of the game in his new group. He would have to adjust.

Shang frowned and rolled his eyes. "No it is not what we are suppose to do. Clearly I didn't do anything by standing there that says hey come attack this random guy for no reason."
He crossed his arms over his chest and gave Merlinite an incredulous look, "and who exactly told you that you have to beat me," he said stressing the me," to get stronger. Haven't you ever heard of training. I do not know about you, but I don't consider beating up random strangers apart of that."
Shang huffed and starred at the other, not really sure what to say next. Really he wanted to just walk away, but he wouldn't risk turning his back to the other and it probably wouldn't work to run like he had last time. He didn't have the added benefit of injuring the other person..

Merlinite supposed he had a point. No one really liked being attacked out of the blue, though it was certainly fun to be the aggressor. He knew that, though, and was just doing what he thought was best for his new job. He grinned, though, knowing he was also just enjoying it.
"This is training!"
What better training than hands on, right? He wasn't there to fight his fellow Negaverse agents, after all. He was there to fight knights and senshi and whatever, and while he most definitely would train with other negas, this was great too.
"Well, I guess that's why we're on opposite teams, anyway. If you don't want to fight me that's fine. You can just stand there, and I'll do all the work." He grinned, patting his baton against his palm before he lunged again, swinging for Shang's knee.

Shang continued with his perpetual frown, something that was totally opposite during the day, when he usually wore a gentle or even sometimes nervous smile. "You must be new," he said not really knowing whether or not the other was new. He just seemed new in his reasoning, even if it made sense. Shang just didn't want to fight.
He didn't want to turn his back and it seemed Merlinite was keen on having the fight as he lunged for Shang with his baton to strike his knees. While Shang was partially expecting it, he didn't react quite enough and the baton hit its mark, causing him to wince and hand going instantly to soothing the stinging skin, while taking his reflex hammer and swinging it out mostly to keep Merlinite away while he righted himself.
He resolved that he would likely need to knock Merlinite down to make a break for it and gripped his weapon a bit tight preparing to just that. It Merlinite was paying attention he might notice Shang had tense up. He was fully ready spring.

"Everyone is new sometimes, but don't worry. I'll catch up soon enough. I think this gig isn't too complicated, and I've got some great teachers. Want me to show you what they've taught me?" He grinned at the knight, feeling very cocky and eager.
This was so fun. He had to admit, though his heart had been set on becoming a detective... being a bad guy, or whatever this was, was pretty great too. He had visions of himself being a powerful detective, working behind the desk. Now he imagined taking money under the table, and being a rather corrupt force of good in the city.
But hey, if he was powerful, that worked for him.
As the fight continued he grinned at the little hammer the doctor pulled out. Was that supposed to be threatening? Even Merlinite's baton was more intimidating than that!
"I don't need a check up, but thanks doc," He moved to swing his baton for Shang's head, swinging fast and with as much strength as he could muster. If he was fast and powerful, he might just be able to overwhelm his opponent.

Shang frowned, "no I do not," he replied simply even knowing the other fully intended to show him anyway and sure enough he did just that. Shang was ready for him, ducking down to avoid the blow to his head. He could literally feel the baton skim over the top of his head. A little slower and it would have struck him good.
He had no time to think about that at all as he sprang forward metal hammer in hand and swung at the back of Merlinite's knee cap. It wouldn't feel good if it connected. He pushed his other hand out opened palmed aiming at blow at the other's stomach. It was obvious that Shang wanted to knock him down and hopefully keep him down for a moment or two.
He just needed an opening and he'd run. It was as simple as that. His reluctance to fight wasn't at all a good thing and he really really needed to get his head on right, but it would take more than a couple negaversers trying to take it out on him.

A near miss. Merlinite had almost gotten him, but was not discouraged by his miss. He would have to just swing a little harder, a little faster, and a little stronger the next time. He wasn't going to waste his chance: and he could not let the knight get a chance to one up him.
But a chance he had, and a chance he took. Merlinite could do very little as the hammer met his knee, and he let out a sound of pain and surprise when it connected. It made his whole leg go numb in a sudden, painful flash.
"Goddamn it!" He swore bitterly.
He found himself flat on his back after that, but he was angry now and not willing to give up so easily. He lost all his poise and control at that point, scrambling to get to his feet. Or at least enough to leap on Shang's back. He was swinging wildly, aiming blows at the back of his head, his neck, his back itself: whatever he could hit.

Shang had very little time to celebrate his triumph before he was literally being wailed on and almost knocked to the ground stumbling roughly under that added weight. This definitely wasn't like before where he'd been able to just run off and be free. He patience had definitely reach his breaking point as he struggled to break free of the small ape of a lieutenant.
"Get off," reaching back and pulling on Merlinite shoulder and jacket to try to pull himself free. He was fighting a loosing battle and resorted to swinging his hammer in an arch around him as hard as he could to pepper the other with strikes.
He was in pain, from the pelts and feeling a small bit of desperation.
