Sweet dreams indeed.
The world was full of colour. Spiraled disks on sticks splashed with dozens of colours each. Small balls painted with only one shade each. Fluffy piles of pale colours, mostly pink. She'd paused to sniff at one of the objects a while back. It had smelled sweet, so she'd licked it. It was sweet. Sweeter than any of the apples she'd ever tasted in the waking world. Alas, even as the taste lingered on her tongue, the world shifted around her.
Her legs were the thick trunks of trees. Beneath her leafy body she could see two small squirrels frolicking about. One grabbed a flower, then raced up her trunk, the other in closer pursuit. The first, light brown, wedged the small pink and yellow acorn she'd carried up between two branches. She let go herself, but unlike her companion, she drifted up into the air, floating past the branches, leaves clinging to her little body as if trying to hold her down. She started flailing, falling ever upwards. Just as about hit the sky Mahdi felt a jolt.
The dream shifted, falling dark as the dreamer was forced awake, leaving Mahdi in a lurch. Usually, such startling events woke her as well. Tonight was one of the rare exceptions. She found herself walking again, this time through a wide open desert. As she walked forward she didn't hear the soft shft, shft, of hoof on sand, but rather the booming sound of a distant drum.
She moved forward. The dream shifted.

It had been a hard day of practice. And even though Dzigits had proved her skills on the tightrope and on the high beams and the large, colorful circus balls, her mother would still not allow her to try her talents on the back of another soquili. For some reason the thought of balancing on a moving being was a scary thought for others. Not so for Ziggy. She was confident in her skills and was eager to begin rehearsing her performance...but right now she was exhausted.
After helping with daily chores as well as practicing and helping others with their training, she was thoroughly pooped. But it was a good tired, it was an exhaustion that was full of accomplishment and fulfillment. Even though mom wouldn't let her rehearse yet, she was living the life she wanted to live. So she lay down for the night with a smile on her face, watching the lights on the top of the circus tent begin to fade away as she fell asleep...
"Laaadies and Gentlemen, boys and girls! Have we got a show for you! Come one, come all! Come see Ziggy, the Horse-riding Horse! Don't believe me? See for yourselves!" The announcer shouted with great excitement. The crowd quieted to ecstatic whispers and shushes as they perked their ears to listen. The spotlights soared in all directions, keeping the audience busy while the main attraction got the finishing touches together for them before the show. Ziggy listened from backstage, prepping her assistant with all of the necessary sparkles and ribbons and checking her own appearance to make sure it was adequately eye-catching. She winked at herself in the small mirror, ready to begin her performance for the first time ever. She had watched for so long as her mother and others had gone out to perform, but now it was finally her turn...

Mahdi stepped into the cave, no, a teepee? It must be, though it was far larger than any teepee she'd ever seen. More colorful too. Giant fireflies clung to the ceiling, casting their light down upon the chamber. Most of it seemed to be focused in the center, a small oddity which she didn't even think to question.
Walking closer to the light, stubby little legs moving her slower than she was used too, she tried to get a better look at the area surrounding the bright center. It was filled with soq. So packed that she wasn't sure she'd be able to find a place among them even with her temporarily tiny body.
She laughed, shaking her mane out of habit, the bells twisted and tied through her crimson locks chiming as if all too happy to agree. Starting to wonder if the dreamer was among the crowd, she pranced out to the middle of the ring.

It was time. Finally, the moment she had been waiting for. She stepped into the ring with a smile on her face, taking a bow to the cheers of the crowd. Her glitter caught the light as she roamed around the ring and then gave the signal for her assistant to come out.
He towered above her, ten feet tall at least, his hooves huge and his shoulders strong. Most would have been frightened by this, and she heard gasps from the audience at the sight of her hulking assistant, but she was excited and ready to perform. He bent to let her up, and she winked at the audience atop his back. Although her assistant was huge, she would make sure the audience would be focused on her.
She started with simple things, easy tricks that were pleasing to the crowd, but soon she would ramp up the entertainment level.

The lights above twinkled, reflecting off every surface and reflecting soft, colourful lights out into the crowd. As Mahdi reached the center of the ring, a second small mare emerged from the shadows and bowed before leaping into the back of a mighty stallion. As she moved, the light played on her body making her shine like a diamond. Mahdi gasped, wanting ever so much to look like the little girl who'd taken center ring.
"Oh! How did you do it?" she said, running to keep pace with the stallion as he made his way around the outside of the circle. She was well aware that a response was unlikely, or that it may come from a source besides the girl. That glimmer though. It was one of the most beautiful things she'd ever seen. If only her own coat could shine like that. Even if it was only for the duration of one short dream. "How did you make your coat shine like the sun?"
The crowd surrounding them let forth a thundering cheer, screaming, growling, and stomping. A bit startled, Mahdi slowed her run, looking over at the gathering. It was a strange gathering. Dark shadowy shapes interspersed with specs of flashy bright colours. Among them was every single species of soquili she'd ever encountered on her long journeys.
Without thinking, she came to a halt, "What brought you all here? This tent?"
A tinny instrument sounded, and without thinking Mahdi looked back up toward the small filly on horse back.

"I came here just to see her!" Ziggy could hear a little filly whisper to a friend as the giant stallion passed her. Her smile widened as the drums sped, giving the signal that it was time for the big tricks. She had practiced them over and over again, and now was the time to test them. She felt a little kick of nerves, but she shrugged them off. This was what she had been waiting for. Her assistant slowed to a halt in the center of the ring, all eyes falling upon them. Ziggy struck a pose to allow the audience to get on the edge of their hooves, and then she began.
She started with a flip, landing on all fours and striking a pose. The audience cheered and she did it a couple more times, but it was time to make it more exciting. Flips were easy, but the audience would be astounded when she did a couple more when her assistant was moving.
