Sherry's fingers idly traced along the edge of the book, taking in the hardbound backing and the soft leather cover. It was a very nice book. The library and it's archives had so many wonderful books, but Sherry rather liked the older ones. They were somehow more...fanciful and romantic. Not the dating kind of romantic, obviously, but...her thoughts trailed off as she looked at the phone on the table next to her.

"Good job, brain," she whispered to herself. Her thoughts kept finding ways to reroute themselves back to a certain subject. Maybe she should just ignore it and him and do what Armagnac said.

Probably. Maybe. Especially after...But...there was the fact that Sherry had kinda tried that already. And look what it got her. HERE.

She was in the library trying her best to find something interesting for them to get into. Since he, uh, had said 'yes' yesterday. She'd been through a few books already, but found nothing of interest. There was at least one mention of an island with strange creatures and music....but she didn't think he'd be down for that adventure again. With a sigh, she closed the book.

Setting it down, she picked up the phone. Perhaps this would be best with another set of eyes.

Text to Jake: Hi! Meet me in the library when you can. Thanks!

Short and sweet and hopefully not over done. She'd almost spilled the beans yesterday. Oh, well. Setting the phone down, Sherry sighed again and looked around the room. Maybe she should check the information on one of the computers?

Jake had just finished breakfast in the cafeteria when he felt his phone buzz.
... Well. She certainly didn't waste time.

I know, I know, just...

After what happened last night, he wasn't quite sure he wanted to see her so soon... or vice versa. Heck, in her case, he wouldn't have been surprised if she didn't want to see him for a while.
How wrong he was.

With a reluctant sigh, he pulled out his phone, and scanned the text.
... Library? What on earth would she be doing in-
He froze when he remembered the Enchanted Isle. Oh HELL no.

Then why on EARTH is she in the library?

I highly doubt it.

Still... a promise was a promise, and Jake wasn't one to go back on his word.

Text to Sherry: On my way.

After the quick 3-word reply, he got up and started heading towards the archives, dreading what he would find.

Sherry had tried to focus on her research. Tried really hard. Each second that ticked by before she had a reply was very, very long. What if Jake decided he didn't want to hang out with her? What if she'd somehow screwed something up? What if-- No, no, no, she told herself. Dwelling on things only made them seem a million times worse than they were. She'd already spent--

The phone buzzed. Sherry read the message three times before she set the phone aside. If he was coming, then that meant he didn't hate her. But then-- She let out a large groan. She was had no clue about what this was or what she was doing. She really should just ask the boy how he felt. Since after yesterday.....The groan was followed by a resigned sigh. What exactly was she afraid of? Oh, right.

Well. Too late for any of that now. Jake was on his way here, and she still didn't have anything decent for them to do. She settled down in front of a computer and kept one eye on the door. He should, uh, be there soon. Maybe.

Arriving at the archives, Jake looked around, and spotted the lone life hunter on one of the runic computers.

Walking over, he crossed his arms, giving her a suspicious look.
"Let me make one thing clear. If you're planning on going to the Enchanted Isle again, I'm not going."
At least he was straight to the point, and... she had asked him to meet her at the library. Which he did. Promise fulfilled. He wasn't required to go anywhere else should he not desire to.
GLORIOUS LOOPHOLES.

Chester only hoped he thought things out this thoroughly for missions also.

Butterflies. In her stomach. They appeared when Jake did. Really? Was she twelve?

As he neared, she had to wonder what that look was about. So she had done something wrong? Oh no--

"What?" Sherry squirmed in her seat. "No, no. You made it very clear last time that you hated that place. I waa~ss," she let the word drag for an extra beat, "hoping to find somewhere else to visit. You know. Something exciting that we can benefit from."

She motioned to a chair next to her. "I was originally going to find something and then call you, but it's taking longer than I thought. So, I figured you could help?" She gave him a hopeful look, and her gaze lingered for a moment before finding the floor quick as it could. Images of the night before were flashing through her mind. He'd been so close, so warm...heck even for second she thought--

"If you don't mind, that is." She half turned back to the computer.

... Exciting? Benefit?
If he didn't know any better, he'd have thought she was trying to find a new artifact location.

I... guess...

When she motioned to the chair, he gave it a weary look before shaking his head.
"I'll stand."
If Sherry was looking for "help", the most she'd get was a grumpy death trainee making sure she didn't pick any place that seemed too "fun"
... and the occasional glancing at table and chair legs.

She tossed a curious glance in his direction. "You sure? We might be here a--" last night on fast forward flashed in her mind's eye, "--while. Suit yourself."

She spent the next several minutes reading things and clicking things. The longer she did so, the harder it was to concentrate. Jake was just, kind of standing over there. Standing. She really should have waited to message him. Waited until she actually had something for them to do. Or you know, cancelled the whole thing. She didn't want to bore him or anything...maybe she should think of something to say.

"I'm, uh, sorry about your chair." Not that. Something more--oh. Oops.

Jake only shrugged.
"Well, it's not like I had STUFF to do, or anything."
Yeah, sure, he didn't mind standing in a library for who knows how long while she was looking for... who knows what.
He was really tempted to just suggest going to the mall, but... no. That would mean that he enjoyed shopping, and... it would probably sound like a date. And after their LAST shopping trip...
He couldn't even remember what happened after that.
Hell. Was there ever something that DIDN'T end up going horribly wrong?

When Sherry brought up the chair, he only huffed.
"Should have tossed it out when I had the chance. Don't know why I even bothered keeping it. It's not like I don't have enough money to buy another."

Sherry nodded. "I'm pretty sure they keep extras in some storeroom somewhere..." She trailed off, looking to the computer screen and vaguely wondering if there were any extras left. So much destruction on the island.

She glanced back at Jake. "I--I'm...." She didn't finish. It was probably safer not to talk right at that moment. There were emotions bubbling up inside her. Joy, worry, longing, contentment, fear, and a whole bunch of other things she didn't bother naming. So, rather than say something silly, the girl shifted nervously again, and turned her attention back to the computer.

Again, the minutes dragged by slowly. She was just very aware of his presence again. Not like last night, but similar. At least he wasn't close enough to feel or smell or-- Did liking such things make her weird? Probably.

She would have continued down the lovely train track of thought she was on until she was totally flustered and red and whatever else, but something caught her eye. Mention of more more...objects. In a strange place....Hrm.

"Jake. If you're bored, I'm sorry. But! I do need this book found," she reached for a scrap of paper and her pencil, "if you want to go get it." She was jotting down all relevant numbers and titles and things. "I think it has some information that might be useful?"

Turning in her chair, she held the paper out to him. Too bad she couldn't simply tell him that she'd be content to just sit next to him all day.

His attention had drifted, and as he heard Sherry stammering, he let out a sigh, wondering if he should apologize about last night.

"Listen, I-"
He paused as Sherry asked him to find something, and he stared at the scrap of paper curiously. Huh.

Taking the slip, he turned to the stacks, starting to search.
Maybe he didn't need to worry about it. She seemed fine.

It wasn't until after he'd left that Sherry realized in her haste to not make him stand there all day she may have cut him off. Perhaps she should have been a little bit less brash. She could always ask lat--

me to do.>

Sherry almost laughed. Don't worry, I haven't forgotten you, either. Forgetting Armagnac would be nigh impossible. Sherry sighed and turned her focus back to the bits of information on the screen. Lost ancient tombs? There was likely all kinds of Fear based stuff roaming around. Lots of things for her belligerent friends to hit, and possibly a few nice prizes, as well.

They just had to figure out how to get there.

After scanning the shelves for a while, he pulled out a few books.
Egypt... tombs... mummies?

He didn't know Sherry was interested in these kinds of things.
One more book caught his eye, and he pulled it out, staring at it.
"The... Ancient... Necropolis."

He turned to Sherry, arching an eyebrow.
"I don't suppose this is what you're looking for?"

"Hm?" Jake's question pulled Sherry out of her thoughts. "With any luck," she said, getting out of her chair and moving toward him, "it is."

She gave the book in his hands a long look before reaching out to take it from him. "It looks like it might be what we need." She flipped the book open and started to skim the contents. "The place I'm interested in is some sealed up tomb. It's supposed to have some neat treasures in it. Possibly of the artifact type."

She glanced back up at Jake. "If that's something that interests you, anyway."
PostPosted: Fri Apr 19, 2013 11:41 pm

"I... guess..."
He wasn't quite sure if she was asking if he was interested in artifact hunting or tombs. He wasn't a huge fan of dead stuff.

"I didn't think you'd be interested in such a place though." he replied, gesturing to the book.

Sherry bit her lip. "Well, I'm sure some of the historical stuff is pretty neat....and if there are artifacts..." she sighed, glancing at the book for a moment then back to Jake.

"I...honestly I'm more interested in the possible artifacts than in the tomb itself." Untouched tombs probably meant dead things. Dead people. She imagined a room full of mummies and tried to suppress a shudder. Mummies didn't ooze, did they? She didn't like oozing.

She tried to cover the brief moment of unease with a shrug as she looked back to the book. "I was just hoping to find something fun for you and Armagnac to do. Something that might have rewards at the end. If you have a better idea, I'm all ears."
