Perhaps it wasn't the best idea in the world to go about outside at night. Perhaps it was an even worse idea to go about in the dark, without a cell phone. Perhaps the worst idea was to go out at night, alone, after having sent your guards away. Perhaps it was just the result of being such a stubborn kid when it came to Isha and his fishing. After the last time he had asked his guards along, he hardly wanted them to come again. Seriously! That man had not deserved to be tackled into the water! And even worse, after that, there was no fish to be caught at all! It was a long 3 hours. He loved it, but still!

Either way, not this time! They were told to say at home, much to the dismay of his mother and father. The phone problem.. Well, that was actually just an accident. The last time he went fishing, he forgot his bait, and he had been so focused on it that, he just didn't think about grabbing the little bag that had everything in it. His keys, his cellphone, the maps. Nope, all was left right at home.

Isha wasn't so panicked about it, no, not today. It was a wonderful day, indeed! The temperature was perfect, the fish were biting like they were starving, and it was such a clear night, that the moon and all the stars lighted his pathway as if it were daylight! It was so unlike his old home in Baltimore, where the smog and lights seemed to give off a constant orange glow. Out here, everything was so much more clear and calm.

Still, the calm wasn't always the best thing for Isha. Silence unerved him, and though he had his music player on him, hanging from the collar of his shirt, he dared not put them in his ears. He wasn't THAT naive to go about at night with his ears all plugged up! Being alone at night just seemed to intensify his hearing, and every crunch of a twig or rustling of leaves caused his pace to quicken ever so slightly.

Soon enough, a loud, almost animistic sound came off from the woods around him, causing him to stop completely, gazing around. Running seemed like the most terrible thing to do, for the sheer fact that, as dark as it was, there was a stupidly high chance of him falling right over his feet, or even worse, actually drawing attention to himself. Maybe it was just an animal who could smell the fresh fish in his small cooler. It wasn't a strong smell at all, as fresh fish never smelled that bad, but to an animal, it must smell delicious.

Gleaming eyes peaked out at him through the trees, not too far away, and they crept closer and closer. A feral, snarling sound echoed throughout the disturbingly darker area, and it was all Isha could do but drop his container, and back away slowly. What the hell was that thing..?

Vesuvius was on patrol thinking of thing that were probably not really worth the time it took to think them but drifted along in his head nevertheless. He was having a good night all in all and even whistled a tune as he walked letting the lights of Destiny City guide him. He really didn't have a destination in mind. He was just sort of wandering until he found something he liked.

Then he felt that twinge, that tingling sense of chaos in the back of his head. He knew very well by now what that meant and headed toward it out of habit. He didn't actually want to fight a youma but after what Camelot showed him and knowing what they could do and where they came from he knew he needed to intervene and destroy the creature.

When he zeroed in on the signature it led him off the beaten path toward the wooded part of the park. He saw the boy first before the dog-ish youma came out of a thicket and charged him. Vesuvius sighed and started to run toward the both of them, before the boy could come to harm, though he didn't know what he could do, really, as his weapon was useless. The growls in the air reminded him of some rabid hyena he'd seen once while in Africa.

"For God's sake stay away from it!" he shouted, drawing close. "It will hurt you."

Isha vaguely had a thought to himself, about the creature that was before him, snarling and slowly approaching him closer and closer. It was one about making eyecontact with such a creature.. Something along the lines that you weren't supposed to do that. Eye contact was allegedly one of the worst things to do, in his mind, for that meant for that moment, it was only the two of you, man and beast, in the world. And the moment your gaze broke with it's, was when it would leap for your throat, taking it down in an instant! Or so that's how it went in his mind.

And low and behold, that is exactly what had happened for him. Their gaze met, and they both froze, though Isha began to move backwards, ever so slowly. With each of his steps, the beast made one towards him, the growling never ceasing, and the stepts it took made almost no sounds, as if it were not even there.

A voice rang out in the night, drawing his attention, but not his gaze.

"Of course I won't go any closer!" He responded, feeling himself continuing to retreat away from the creature. Oddly enough, it had not attacked him just yet, but soon enough it would.. Wouldn't it?

"If I run... It will follow, chase me down, and kill me, rip my throat out to shreds and feast on my liver!" Situations like this, awkwardness or dangerous or even terrifying as it was, caused all his emotions to turn straight to dumb humor. A defense mechanism to keep him from completely breaking down, because Maker knows, his knees were shakign like no one would believe.

"Are you.. Can you help me..?" It would be a matter of moments before the beast would attack. With the hope of all hopes he had, Isha pleaded to whoever could hear him! Someone PLEASE, help him!

Vesuvius dashed toward the danger and got a better appraisal of the situation as he came closer. Civilian in distress? check. Monster intent on harming said stranger? Definite check. Ok, this had all the elements of a heroic rescue in the making...now if only he could pull it off. This would have been the point where he drew his sword in a swashbuckler but since his sword was a little on the useless side he'd have to improvise.

"Right. Right!"

Of course one would not walk toward the monster unless one were exceptionally stupid. Good to know his stranger was not, in fact, stupid.

"Don't run."

Vesuvius had no Earthly idea whether the beast would follow or not, not knowing what sort of intelligence it had, but he was willing to lay bets on the fact that it probably wasn't safe. Thankfully, he was closing in and drew to a stop beside the boy. The situation didn't look good but Camelot said the things always break into dust if one bashed it enough. He could do that, with the right weapon.

"I'm going to try and distract it. You should run then."

By distract it, he probably meant becoming a fleshy sized chew toy.

Fuuu, it looked like this guy right here had no idea what he was doing. Certainly, he was grateful not to be alone anymore, but what could this individual do that he could not have figured out on his own. If anything, he just seemed to look like a silly cosplayer or something.. Either way, atleast he had a meat shield of sorts, to give him a moment to let his mind clear. Now that he wasn't in fear that he was going to completely die, he could think.

The man seemed to have some sort of... Little sword in his hand, though It did not look like it would be of much use in this situation. Honestly, It looked like all it could do was perhaps give the creature a really bad thorn in his side or something. Of course, that would be if this man could even get that close to the beast! His hand clenched tightly to the rod he held, trying to think of something he could do..

... Seriously, was he REALLY that slow?! The rod was a very sturdy, heavy piece of metal, five feet long even not put together as he had held it. It was long enough to swat at the beast like a whip, or something, in his mind. He gently nudged the man with it's end.

"Could you use this to fight? I think it won't break, and atleast, you can whack the thing on it's nose or something.. Then I'll go run."

Vesuvius spotted the metal rod in his hand and reached for it gratefully. It was so nice when people in distress came prepared with weaponry. The rod would more than do in a fight with a simple youma. He'd seen more than he wanted to split into dust by now so much so that the whole process hardly weirded him out at all anymore. Remarkable, really.

For about the hundredth time he cursed his stilly little plastic sword.

"Thank you. I'll take this and beat the hell out of this thing. I hope you'll do the sensible thing while it's distracted and run for your life. These beasts can and will kill us both if they can."

Bravely Vesuvius stepped forward, not giving the youma a chance to strike first. He raised the rod and brought it down hard, putting the creature immediately on the defensive. It dodged out of the way, as expected, but it was also solely focused on the man with the weapon now, which was also expected and welcome. He'd have to be smart to win this fight but Donovan saw no reason at all why he couldn't do that.

He also didn't get a chance to look back and see if Isha was indeed fleeing the scene as suggested. Sometimes watching the train wreck is the only thing you can do even if you know it's going to be nothing but awful. Being noble did not always come with an instruction manual. He probably wouldn't have read it if it did, though, so wishing it was a moot point.

The youma snarled and snapped at him, defending itself.

"Now would be a good time to run." he cautioned the other boy.

"F-fine, I'll run! But.. But you better give me my rod back!! T-that Means come back safe too!" He didn't look back. He didn't stagger there anylonger, and he, instead, ran.

He ran faster than he ever had in his life! He ran on and on, until he could not move any more. Though He did not head home, he ran along the water, keeping where the light could touch him, where other's could still see him. Then, he waited.

Hopefully, that man would be back soon.. He would be safe...

Vesuvius only watched long enough to make sure that Isha started running away from the youma before he moved forward and engaged the beast directly. The fear he had in his belly was starting to subside into anger and that was good. He was pissed about this war, about his part in it that he didn't choose, and that creatures like this could exist to scare people like the civilian he was protecting. A stream of cursing started to emerge from the dust as Vesuvius started whacking the thing beneath him. He was certainly not a happy camper.

"Sonova...F***** tw**...die...Just f**** die!"

At least it didn't take very long for the youma to start breaking into dust to float away on the sudden breeze that seemed to kick up for just that purpose. He shook his head in wonder and almost dropped his metal implement but that seemed like bad manners considering the civilian had wanted it back.

He walked toward where he saw Isha run off to, slowly but steadily. The pirate was ready to go home and drink, calling it a bloody night already. At least he managed to do one thing on his own. But this called for beer, or scotch, or something equally as inebriating.

"Are you alright?" he asked when he got close. "It didn't manage to get you, did it?"

Frightened? Of course the boy was! Isha probably would have peed himself if it weren't for the fact that he had more dignity than that! But he was alright, managing to go unscathed throughout the whole ordeal.

"I'm fine.. Holy crap, what was that thing?! Did you kill it?! Are YOU alright?"

Vesuvius came up to a stop, panting as he stood there in the wake of the fight. He had never come across a scared person before. His bedside manner wasn't the greatest for this, let alone for another man. The scenario was always a damsel in distress and that he was prepared for anytime, anyday.

"That was a monster, nasty thing. Unfortunately I'm finding there's rather a lot of them around. It's not the best state of affairs but you're safe now, unless there's more of them."

Which probably wasn't the most comforting of thoughts, considering.

"Anyway, I'm Vesuvius, a knight of Pluto. Are you alright, m'boy?"

"I.. I'm Isha. But.. Uh.. Yeah, I'm alright, I'm alright, I'm just fine, I'm dandy, but holy hell, monsters?! I just.. I can't understand, I just.. Oh gods.. Oh gods.. I.. I'm just going to go home, run home, flee here and hide for a while, homes are safe, right? Oh gods.."

So close he was, to turning on his heel, to just run away from this crazy person, who had the balls to fight this thing, but his rod, yeah, he wasn't leaving that behind, even stuck in shock.

"My rod, please. Please, hurry, I just.. Oh gods.. "
