"ALRIGHTY I'M GOING!!" Fishing rod? Check. Map? Check! Tackle Box? Check! Small cooler? Check! Back pack full of snacks? Check! One by one, the red-headed teen began to check everything he had on him one last time before he set out on his day trip alone. New town, new sights to see!

"Alrighty, sweetie! Have fun! Don't get lost this time! We don't want to have the guards go after you again!"

".... I'll try not to? Hehe, Okay, bye!" Isha's cheerful voice radiated around the foyer of his new, enormous home as he exited the front door, using his foot to close the door behind him. Waving a hand to the guards that stood outside of his door, he headed to the garage, pulling out his bike. Rather old fashioned, it was, with a seat like rack on the back. Perfect for loading up with all of his fishing gear. Everything was tied down securely, even his rod had a fancy little holder installed, sticking straight up and out of the way. The only thing that was left out was the map, which he held in his hands as he mounted the bike. Sure, there were GPS's and such, but there was nothing more entertaining that just winging it on his own like this. He DID have his phone on him, just in case, however!

With one more gaze shot off behind him and a slight wave to the guards, he kicked off the ground, zooming down the long drive way. Today's destination was a rather popular spot, hidden in the park. When he had stopped by the local tackle shop, he was told that there were so many different places to go dip his hook in, and during the week ends he would go off and explore a new one.

His wheels squeaked ever so slightly as he continued down the path, skidding to a rather rough stop as he reached the docks of this secluded lake. It seemed that several different paths led here, though the one he took led to side of the lake that was furthest from the road. He could clearly see people on the other side, actually, there were quite a few, little specks on the horizon, but on this side, there seemed to be a lot less people. Perfect! That meant that the biting should be great here! Or maybe the people here are just stubborn and it's terrible. Either way, he'd figure that out on his own.

It took but a moment to set up his little area, nice and cozy on the shore line, and soon enough, he was fixing up his beloved rod. It wasn't the most expensive, but it was his very first, an old rod he affectionately called Lobster. No real reason behind that name, it just kinda worked for him.

He was so very ready to start on his lovely day of music in his ears and fish on his rod, but something just hit him hard in the gut. Isha realized, there was something so very important missing from his list.. Bait. Seriously though! How could he have been so foolish to forget something so important to the very fundamentals of fishing! Of course, he could have just improvised... But what fun was that? Perhaps he could make a new friend out of this.

He gazed around the area, seeing who he could bribe some bait out of. Nothing suggested that anyone around him would be hostile, and even if they were, he could always show of some green. Not that that had been the first thing that came to mind. He had no hesitation going up to his neighbor, giving him a nice smile.

"Excuse me, But I seem to have no bait. The tackle shop is on the other side of the lake, and it would be quite the trip to go and buy some. I would like to ask, could borrow some bait from you?"

Dennis sometimes had to get away from it all and relax. Not even when things were getting stressful, though he usually managed to keep himself in good spirits. Sometimes it was nice to just go out with his thoughts and be alone for a bit, to bask in how good things were feeling.

That was what he was doing now.

At the moment, he couldn't complain about his life. His work was going well, and he was enjoying his bachelor lifestyle. He was also strong now, and had a brand new goal set ahead of him for a brand new turn in his life. He was a soldier now, and he was going to enjoy himself in pursuit of becoming tops in it.

This was going to be a very fun time.

So he was at the lake and relaxing, fishing rod doing all the work for the moment while he leaned back in his chair and enjoyed the nature around him. Being outside was reinvigorating in its way, like Superman straying away from the polluted cities and seeking power from the sun. He took a deep breath, wondering if his own powers were like that, or if he needed the night to become stronger.

He was drawn from his napping when someone appeared beside him, shadow blocking the nice light of the sky. He looked at him, arching an eyebrow.

"What kind of a fisherman comes out without bait? That's not a plan for success," he said with a grin.

This guy before him just seemed so laid back, it was almost a shame to wake him, but when you needed something, you needed something. So calm and relaxed.. Yes, that's exactly what he loved about fishing. From it came a peace that dated back thousands and thousands of years, and it just rested so very deeply inside of him that a happiness welled up inside of him that was all but indescribable.

However... Nothing could be accomplished without any bait! Well, there were ways to fish without it, as many fish were attracted to anything that moved.. And he more than likely had something quite attractive to the fish in his tackle box. Seriously, why didn't he think about that before?! Inwardly, he was slapping his forehead at his own lack of sense at that moment. If Lobster could talk, surely he would be ashamed.

"It's the excitement of being in a new place that overwhelmed me to the point of forgetfulness." Isha couldn't help but grin back at the older man. He was right when he assumed he would be friendly! Teasing, sure, but friendly!

"Being new to the town is a scary thing, indeed, but I'm not scared. Just a bit.. Lost? No, not lost, not that, I know where I am. I guess I'm all over the place! And success is a state of mind!" He paused, looking out at the lake, his grin growing a wee bit more.

"Success isn't the biggest fish for me, it's for the relaxation and peace and camaraderie that comes from cheering on those around me that get their big catch! But... Catching a fish does bring a bit more happiness, a sense of pride. So.. A bit of bait would be quite appreciated! Care to help a kid out? I'll give you the first fish I catch!"

Cooro Cooro

Dennis arched his eyebrow, watching the kid more than listening to him. What a strange guy, babbling away and looking rather chipper, all things considered. New in town? Probably hadn't been around long enough to know what kind of things actually happened here, more often than not. He'd learn in time, and that happy go lucky attitude would be knocked down a few notches.

Even though he just pushed paper at the police station, he was more than aware of the strange and terrible crimes that happened on occasion. The ones the press did well to hide.

Of course, now he also knew who was doing them. And was a part of that group.

He grinned and nodded his head toward his tackle box, not too fussed about the bait now. The kid seemed reasonable enough, and he wasn't a brat or anything too annoying. So why not share? They were both enjoying the spot, and the kid was further down river from him so he didn't have to think that he'd be giving away his fish by helping out.

There was always ulterior motives to Dennis' actions, and he always considered himself first. If it put him out, he was against it, but this wouldn't impact him.

"Go ahead and take what you need, I'm wrapping up here anyway. You're new in town, eh? What brings you here?"

"WELL, thank you so very much!" After gaining permission, Isha did not hesitate to reach right into the box beside the older man, pulling out just a single blood worm to use. It wasn't as if he actually needed the entire worm to fish with. Cutting it up into a few small pieces would suffice enough, and if he played his cards right, he would be able to make it last for quite some time, and reel in something nice. It was never a fun task to cut up the little guys, however, as every time someone did, it spewed out blood, and just turned into a bloody mess. And the little buggers had one hell of a bite too. Despite not having bait, he DID in fact have gloves and put them to good use before baiting his hook.

For just a little while, Isha ignored the older man, in favor of quickly setting himself up, moving around in a well-practiced manner making sure everything from his cooler, to his little chair, to the little tackle box that rested right beside it. While the most unpleasant of the tasks, cutting up the worm, was complete, now it was time for his most favorite, the cast off. His slender fingers pressed the line against the reel seat, and he used his other hand to flip up the bail, then shifting it down to hold the bottom grip. His movements were swift, but powerful as he whipped the rod forward, casting the line far out into the lake, away from the man who sat next to him, so that there was little chance for a tangle.

Along with setting the bail back down, he too sat his rump in his little chair, giving off a proud grin for a job he considered well done.

"Yup, I moved in just last week. My little brother is a sickly kid, according to my mother, and the air in good ol' Baltimore wasn't the best. The mountains around here though make for a great environment, and here I am!" He lifted the top of his cooler, pulling out a bottle of water to clean up his hands with.

"You're leaving already? And here I though I might have some company to chat with! You have to stay until I can give you my first catch, at the very least!" Of course.. if the older man really wanted to leave, he was in no position to actually stop him from doing so. He WAS just a kid after all, and this man looked pretty tough.

Dennis watched him lazily, feeling warm and content outside and just using his time to relax. He was not in a rush and he was not interested in ruining his lazy day for any reason. So he was being calm and reasonable and patient.

Not his usual traits, in the work place, but it was different here.

He watched as the younger guy fixed his bait and his hook, arching an eyebrow. He was not really a professional as far as fishing went. He stuck the worms on the hook and let the rest just happen, whether he caught a fish or not. In fact, it was probably the only thing in his life that he was absolutely not competitive with, as if he did not want that part of his nature to trespass where he was supposed to be relaxing.

He considered the offer, then nodded.

"Alright, I've got no reason to rush off, anyway. You catch your fish, and I'll relax a bit. We can talk, too. So you came here for your brother, huh? Didn't you read about all the bad things that happen here? Strange things. It's a weird place, for how nice it is."

Isha was pleasantly surprised at the man's willingness to stay around for a bit to chat with him! Most adults causal disregarded him and his faint accent, intimidated by the way he carried himself, or just annoyed at how much he talked. To know that this man was just as content as anything else to simply sit here and chat easily made the boy grin just that much wider, leaning back in his chair too, waiting for the first tugs of his rod.

"Yep. My brother, Enlai, he always had weak lungs, I guess. I never saw it, and I don't think he ever saw it either. I mean, the boy sails! He goes where ever the wind takes him and could careless about his health at times. I just think that my mom is just super panicky about his asthma. He used to have it as a little baby, but it's all but gone now." A small pause came as Isha reflected back to his little brother. Compared to the rest of the children of the household, he was the only one to be adopted at an age older than one. For this reason, he thought, his parents tended to spoil him a bit more, making sure he feels loved and accepted. Personally, he adored the little guy. His oldest sister... Not so much.

"Bad things, weird things, dangerous things, bizarre happenings, it's not up to me. I go where my parents go, and they seem to think it was just too nice. Maybe they know something that I don't." He chuckled, oblivious about what this town truly was about. Their home, tucked comfortably in a more wooded area, a little ways away from the City seemed enough of a ways away from the chaotic city, atleast to his mom and dad. Plus, if there were any problems, the guards could take care of it, right?

"Perhaps they think that we are the superheros who have come to stop what's going on around here! It would be kinda funny, in a sense! The kids they adopted from all around the world turned out to be secret super heroes that are united as a family! Going off to save the day! Or destroy the day. I think my normal alignment is neutral neutral, so I guess it could go either way." The bit of nerd in him was coming out, though he happily ignored any negative thoughts about it. He was here for fun, not to worry about people judging him!

"I'm Isha, by the way. I never did ask for yours, so I'll do so now! What is your name, sir?"

Dennis listened out of obligation, because he had asked, but there was no information there that really mattered to him. It was a good exercise, though, to teach him how to ask questions and get answers that might be useful to him, or his team, when he was talking to a senshi or a knight or something.

Not that this was the same thing. He doubted the negaverse wanted to know about this guy's brother and his weak but not weak lungs.

Still, Dennis nodded his head and looked thoughtful. It was strange that people continued to live in this city, like the turned a blind eye to the things that happened. There were always people out, after all. Even here at the lake, there were people fishing and pretending like they didn't know there could be monsters in the woods.

Or worse.

Not understanding a single word that fell out of the younger man's mouth after that, Dennis shrugged leisurely.

"My name is Dennis. It's nice to meet you, Isha. Hopefully you have better luck with these fish than I have." He wasn't trying to catch anything, though, and had accomplished his goal in coming out here so far. Just to relax and enjoy himself.

"Why thank you.." Such a short reply prompted Isha to think that his ramblings were falling on deaf ears. Of course, he couldn't blame him. Could he talk! He'd go on and on about his siblings with pride, as he loved all of them, even if they sucked sometimes. For now, he sat back in silence, enjoying the warm sun on his darkened skin, and the slight breeze that ruffled everything around him.

Not too long after he fell quiet, his rod began to dip. Eh, it could just be the moving waters of the lake that could be doing it.. Then again, it soon began to dip lower and lower, to the point that it seemed that it would snap under the strain! The boy stood up, giving himself a wee bit of leverage over the creature that hid below the surface. He felt it move left, he jerked right, it tugged hard away from him, he gave off a bit of slack, and tried to pull it back in.

"I.. I think I got something for you!" Isha laughed as he started going for the final stretch, getting the fish out of the water! With one last powerful tug, out came a white bass, soaring out of the water, and swinging around to almost smack Isha in the face! Oh the perils of being shorter than his rod!

"Wow.. It's... Not as big as I thought." It was a good size, surely, but for all that effort Isha put into wrangling the flopping thing.

"But! It is all yours!"

Dennis watched leisurely, letting the kid struggle with the line and waiting patiently for the fish, though he had already said he didn't really need it. Not that he cared, he hadn't caught much. For lack of trying. Was there any bait on his rod at the moment? Had he even remembered to cast it?

He frowned, looking at it in wonder, but the line was in the water at least. It looked a little slack and curled, and he probably needed to recast it, but he was only half interested in the actual fishing today.

With everything that had been going on in his life, all he needed was some time to relax and get his thoughts gathered. He was a soldier in a war now and he had unlimited, as far as he knew it, power at his finger tips. That thought was so overwhelming, he had no idea how to really wrap his brain around it. It was far too exciting.

So fishing was just an excuse to mull it all over.

He did grin when the fish appeared out of the water, though, laughing as it swung back and nearly hit the kid.

"Well, thanks, kid. It's a nice fish, anyway. Probably because you used good bait," he grinned at that, chuckling at his own joke. Because it was a funny one, obviously. "But I should be heading back before my cohorts start to wonder where I've gone. The last thing I want is someone from work finding my secret spot."

"Oh yes, the bait was the secret weapon of this sucess!" Isha laughed along with the man before him, taking the fish off of the hook and grasping onto it firmly, so that it couldn't managed to escape from him. He held it like a prize, so very pleased with himself over this little triumph over the water bound creature. After setting it down, in the other man's area on his cooler, he put his arms up, showing off what little, lean muscle he had, and patting one of them, laughing to himself now.

"Of course... It would be nothing without these guns to reel the fishy one in, right?" Isha let out another laugh, simply cracking himself up over such stupid gestures of his own creation.

"And now my terrible terrible jokes have scared you away! If you're heading back, where are you going to put your fish? You're not heading back to your work place smelling like Nature and raw fish now, are you?" To him, it did seem like a bit of a weird excuse.. Did he really expect to return without people noticing that he's been gone all day? Biting his lip in confusion, Isha stopped to think, looking the man over again, before letting his expression slip back into a smile.

"If this is a secret spot, thank you for letting me share it with you. And thank you for the chat. It's weird.. People around here, the ones I've met so far.. They've all been so friendly. Compared to Baltimore, this entire place just seems at peace." Truly unaware of the situations that have been happening in Destiny city, Isha felt wonderfully safe here, with no need to constantly look over his shoulder, or worry about if someone might decide it was time to kidnap him and hold him for ransom. Such peace.. Surely nothing could destroy that.. Right?

"I'll go to work smelling like whatever I want," Dennis said with a shrug, "they can do whatever they want about it, but most likely they will just sit there and pout about it."

Some of his coworkers, the ones that could not longer do anything for him and were thus beyond his need to be nice to, did not like him and he did not particularly like them. He wouldn't go out of his way to make them miserable.

But he wouldn't make things easy, either.

"I think you might have gotten the wrong impression, but I'm sure you'll be disavowed of it soon enough. But I'll leave that for someone else to do, because... it's just not my place to ruin your life, is it?" He laughed and shook his head, putting his hands in his pockets.

He was standing now, and he took a moment before he moved to gather his things. He hadn't brought much, all told.

"I'm sure I'll see you again some time, if you're here a lot. Not that I am, but I'll shop up again. Thanks for the fish." He had a little cooler, at least, and a bag for the rest of his things. It was an easy pack up.

All the words made sense to the boy, until Dennis mentioned ruining his life, at which he narrowed his brow, squinting his eyes as if he was in deep thought. It was frightening to have an adult say something such as this. If what he had said was true, then should he even be outside right now? Should he consider trying to attempt to persuade his parents to leave..? Once the man spoke again, he relaxed his face, giving him a smile and a slight wave.

"Not a problem, and thank you for the bait! I'll be sure to keep this place secret, and leave without a trace." The entire time that he had been contemplating Dennis' words, he had not realized that his hands were working on the line, reattaching a hook, and adding a bit more bait. He had prepared to cast off, before he had spoken, and now he was posed to cast right off again.

"I'm sure I'll see you again soon, Try not to work too hard, okay?" With that said, he flung the line once again back out into the lake, watching it disappear into the Glittering waters below. Along with his hook, his dreadful thoughts about Destiny City sank to the bottom, and he was left in a silent, yet relaxing peace.

FIN

"Oh, I never do," Dennis said, laughing, wandering off leisurely. He waved over his shoulder one last time, carrying his things with him and feeling calm enough. He was glad to be heading home though.

Company was exhausting sometimes.

It wasn't that he didn't like making friends, he really did, but it all had to be in context. He wasn't going to waste his time on people that couldn't help him in some way, usually, but fishing was its own little world. When he was relaxing, he wanted to be in his happiest state, the most relaxed he could be.

So it wasn't that he didn't like the kid, he was just not used to having legitimate conversations for the hell of it, regardless of how nice it could be sometimes.

Maybe next time he'd be expecting it, and would be better for it.
