The Sugar Shanty was doing fairly well following the months after St. Valentine's day. No, business wasn't exactly EXPLODING from the seams as Richard Moreau would have wanted, but then again, they were never in the red, and for a small business owner, that was always a blessing. His accountant had stopped by and gave her opinion on the matter, and her opinion was that though he was doing good, he needed to consider expanding a little, reaching out to more venues and possibly starting a catering service.

All of it was sound advise and sounded great after a romp around the office, but now that she was gone and he actually had time to think about it, it made him wonder how much work would be ahead of him. And the thought of work made him want to hit the liquor cabinet early, which would have meant very little work would be done today.

Or would have been, had he not already raided the cabinet the week before, leaving him with so little left to drown in. After getting a good laugh from the only other worker there, Richard then did the next best thing to get his mind tinkering, and that was to pull taffy, while he sang. He didn't care who heard him, and he didn't care if they liked his singing or not. This was HIS store! If they didn't like his soundtrack, they could leave!

"Augustus Gloop! Augustus Gloop!
The great big greedy nincompoop!
Augustus Gloop!
So big and vile
So greedy, foul, and infantile..."

His back was turned to the door, as it always was when he was in the middle of pulling taffy, and he was singing so loudly that he couldn't hear the sound of the bell chiming when a customer would walk in. Whoever walked in would be forced to suffer through the Danny Elfman version of the song until he or she gathered the courage to interrupt the candy maker's solo.

Destiny City was quite the place to explore, from all the schools, to the parks, to even the little kiddie play grounds that were scatted all around. With most schools currently in session, it was the perfect time for Isha to actually go around down town on his own. The streets were quite empty, and he could feel the occasional glances he got from the adults that were around. He was certain that they were wondering why the kid was out of school, but if any asked, he had quite the viable excuse. It was just too late in the year to register for anything! Atleast the kid was staying out of trouble, right?

Soon enough, he found himself going down a side street, then back down another main one, looking around at the unfamiliar scenery. There was a nice sweet smell in the air, like.. Well, sweets! It wasn't too hard to figure out where the smell was coming from, as the number of possibilities on this particular street was kinda low. His nose guided him to a door that was rather.. Quaint, in his own opinion.

Normally, Isha would have simply passed it on by, after all there was never a shortage of candy in his own home, but the sounds of the music wafting through the air simply compelled him in. Well, atleast the MUSIC was nice. There was some older man in here, a worker he supposed, who was just simply singing along with the music, and his voice... It could not QUITE compare to that of the actual recording. Not that Isha would say such a thing out loud, no, that would be FAR too rude, after all.

Either way, he began to browse the shelves of candy, debating on whether or not he should get something for his brothers and sisters, who were at home doing who knows what. Staying out of trouble of course, he bet. The boy began to smile a bit wider as the song began to play, doing just a wee bit of his own fancy foot work as he browsed the shelves before him.

That is.. Right up until he ended up tripping over his feet, which seemed to happen more often than not recently, sending a big glass jar of jawbreakers crashing and shattering onto the ground. Well... Guess it looks like he was going to have to dish out some cash... And he didn't even LIKE Jawbreakers!

"Excuse me! I seemed to have.. Broken something." He called out to the man who was so very much distracted by his work and rather offkey singing, or so it seemed to Isha. "Do you have a broom or something? I can sweep it up and pay for the damages."

He was getting into his groove, and when Richard was in the groove, there was little that could tear him away from his work. Nothing short of perhaps a bus crashing through his store or the end of the entire world around him could tear him from his work, and he had gotten to the final verse of his song when there came a loud crash, and Richard could only hope that the sound of jawbreakers piling onto the floor would drown out his terrified shriek as he spun about so quickly that the taffy he was pulling grew taut and snapped. When crimson eyes fell on the only customer in the store, the culprit, the music continued but Richard wasn't singing.

He stared directly at him and not at the mess on the floor, though he did noticed the glass of jawbreakers wasn't in its usual spot. Had he caught him singing? What the hell was that noise? What did he DO?

This was answered when the young man confessed to his crime and asked for a broom, and this was what caused Richard to look down at Isha's feet and see the massacre of hundreds, maybe even thousands, of tiny, now inedible jawbreakers. His jaw dropped and his eyes went wide- that was at least $200 worth of jawbreakers that he'd have to throw away, and THAT was being generous!

The noise that came out of Richard's mouth wasn't necessarily an angered shout, nor was it a flabbergasted meep, but something in between. He wanted to scream at the guy, throw the taffy he was working on at him, maybe even offer him a broom to the side of his head. But Richard refrained. He forced himself to swallow his anger and smile, though his smile wasn't really the kind or friendly type. Rather, his smile was strained, obviously forced, even though his tone was sugary sweet.

Like the jawbreakers he just ruined.

"A little excited, are we? Don't worry... I have a broom in the back. Just... wait here while I go fetch it."

He was going to go to his office to turn the music up louder and scream, and once that was out of his system, he'd come out and be his pleasant Richard Moreau the candyman self. At least that's what he told himself, as he placed the taffy on the table, turned on his heels, and marched towards his office. "Just don't touch anything until I get back!"

Geesh, the man who had been singing seemed to be to be having a little heart attack as he turned around to see the mess. It wasn't as if he TRIED to do it! He should be grateful that people even CAME into this place with such a tragedy going on in here! By tragedy, he of course meant the man's singing. And that sound that came out of his mouth was quite laughable, to the point where Isha couldn't help but grin a bit at the mans obviously fake, forced smile.

"Yes sir, I won't touch a thing, promise!' Now, over all, Isha was a good kid, and as MUCH as it would have amused him to potentially break something, he opted out of it. It wouldn't do the new kid in town to ruin someone's day. He was one to make friends, and not make people hate him for it. And it wasn't as if he was some punk who had no money to pay for anything. If that were the case, he would have ran out of the store as soon as he heard the crash.

His ears weren't too terrible, and through the loud, blaring of the music, he could hear the faint sound of a man screaming. Was it REALLY that big of a deal to drop candy on the ground? Certainly there were worst things in the world! Maybe this man was obsessed with sugar. Or was stingy like that character Mr. Krabs from that one cartoon.

Isha gave a sigh, looking about the place awkwardly as there was no where else he could go, not without stepping on glass. At this point, he felt compelled to actually BUY something to share with his family, as well as pay off what he ruined. Standing in a candy store, being unable to actually TOUCH anything was quite the punishment, he had to say.

Richard had been gritting his teeth so hard that his jaw was beginning to hurt, but he kept himself together as best as he could. The moment he got into his office and closed the door, however, all bets were off, and he was certain that his voice carried a bit outside, but at that point, he didn't care. His jawbreakers and the container were ruined, and he needed to let out his anger somehow, or else risk something terrible happening to that kid. What he wanted to do was simply power up and rip the starseed from his chest. Yes, that would have guaranteed that he'd never destroy something in his store ever again.

But Richard refrained. He was nothing more than a civilian that had made a mistake, a costly mistake, as Richard was going to make sure he was charged for every single jawbreaker that he had ruined. That was enough to appease Richard's lust for physical revenge, and his angered shouts had finally ceased. By the time he stepped out of his office, broom and dustpan in hand, he had taken the time to straighten his hair and attire, and his smile was a lot less forced than it once was. Now, it was slightly deranged, with a hint of mirth, and the confectioner's voice was much more melodic when he spoke than moments ago when he was singing. "Here we go, young man! A broom and a dust pan, for your use! Do be careful about the glass... we wouldn't want you to cut yourself."

'And give you a reason to sue me even though it's all your fault,' Richard thought to himself with a smile, as he handed the tools to Isha. He could hear the other employee chuckling but he let him alone for now; that employee knew exactly what was coming and was merely waiting for Richard to tally up the damages. "How good are you at counting, young man?"

Just because Isha was a rich kid, didn't mean he had no idea how to clean. No, in fact, he was rather good at it, sweeping up the mess in only a few sweeps, and leaving the floor in a state almost surpassing how it was originally. After disposing of the filth, and handing the pan and broom back to Richard. Immediately afterwards, he pulled out some hand sanitizer out of his side bag, cleaning up.

"I'm as good as you'd expect a sixteen year old to be. Probably better since I am Asian!" Maybe the joke was in bad taste, but he enjoyed it! It was like that one joke he saw about the new kid being Asian, and everyone thought he would have been Korean or Japanese or Chinese. Nope, he was Indian! That joke always cracked him up, and even now he chortled a bit, before reaching into his pocket to pull out his wallet.

"Well.. They were small Jawbreakers... But whether or not you overprice them, I dunno. Just name your price, and I'll pay it." He wasn't panicked at all about it. Isha had a habit of being quite good and thrifty with his financial status, so when their was a sudden large purchase, his parents never worried about it. It just wasn't in his nature to spend too much money.

"Let me add some chocolate and apple rings to my purchase too. No need for me to leave here COMPLETELY empty handed?"

As angry and annoyed as Richard initially was with the kid, he had to admit that he was speedy and efficient, and that was almost enough to make up for breaking the jaw and ruining his jawbreakers to begin with. Almost. They were hard enough to sell as it was, and now he'd have to make another batch! No amount of obedience and efficiency to clear the mess could make up for the amount of work that was in store for him and Lucca later on!

He wasn't quite expecting the Asian joke, and that actually broke his carefully angered facade for a moment to give a genuine chuckle. Not that he agreed with these stereotypes, but he admired someone that had a sense of humor and could poke fun at himself, and now he found it hard to despise the kid now as much as he did moments ago. Maybe seeing the trash properly taken care of was all he needed to calm himself? "Yes, mathematical geniuses. I'm certain Krishna from across the street at Padma's Bouquet whispers equations in his sleep..."

He glanced across the way, looking for any brief sign of his business partner and wanting to flash him a humored grin, just to see his reaction. Unfortunately he appeared busy, so he turned his attention back to the youth, growing serious once more. "There were at least a hundred jawbreakers in that glass. I sold them at 10 cents a piece, and the glass container was $15."

Richard was expecting Isha to do the math, as he moved to grab the other items that Isha wanted to add to the bill, giving him plenty of enough time to add up the damages in his head, and he called out to him when he reached the chocolates display. "What's your poison? Milk, dark, white?"

"Hrm... I would like to say.. A nice big ol' chunk of each flavor! I'll be sharing them with my siblings, and we all like something different, so It would all work out. Now let's see.. I'll take that one hundred and round it up to two hundred, since surely there is alot of effort that goes into making such little balls of sugary goodness.. So with that.. Plus the cost of the container.. Only thirty-five dollars..? I feel like the chaos I caused you is worth atleast two hundred dollars! You sir, are certainly a fair man, but I cannot simply let myself get away so cheaply!" He pulled out his credit card, ready to pay off the bill that would be rang up for him.

"Ooh, and can I have a few of those apple-caramel lolipops too? My driver loves them so much, especially since he's been trying to quit smoking recently."

Richard was impressed by his mathematical abilities but he didn't let it be seen. That was roughly the amount that he was considering charging him anyways, and when he flashed the credit card for Richard to see, it was enough to bring a more natural smile back to Richard's face. Apparently, he was one of those kids, with the rich parents but wise enough to teach him to use it responsibly, and Richard could respect those kind of kids.

It was certainly better than the ones that were dirt poor and expected to get away with causing such damage scotch free. And he was making a purchase, so perhaps he could find it in his heart to forgive him for his momentary clumsiness?

He'd think about it. He gathered the chocolates that he desired and set them into the bag for his customer. The tallying of the damages and his purchases didn't take too long, though he had just managed to remember the apple-caramel lollipops, and he tried to keep his bitter thoughts to himself. 'Driver? He has his own chauffeur? I wasn't even -that- rich...'

He found himself a little jealous, but he swallowed it down, keeping a cheerful demeanor as he hit the total button. "I wish him the best of luck in his endeavor... I can't imagine how difficult it'd be to try to quit something so difficult like that. I don't envy him."

Coming from someone with a love of bourbon, he knew it might have come across as hypocritical, but he didn't really care, now did he? "That'll be $250."

"Two-fifty... Alrighty." Without hesitation, Isha handed over his card, ready to exit the store. There wasn't too much to do in a candy shoppe, and he certainly felt as if he had embarrassed himself enough as it was! It would have been simply terrible if he had ended up doing something else to cause disgrace on himself, like breaking more jars or accidentally on purposely flipping a table. Why flipping a table? No real reason, other than an urge to do so for the past few weeks. It wasn't as if he were mad at anyone; Isha hardly ever found himself mad, unless someone did something to peeve him off in the first place. Then, needless to say, Isha would flip not only a table, but surely flip that person off too! And by flip off, it easily meant that he would flip their car, their house, anything to make them feel the suffering he felt!

Of course, of course, that would be getting ahead of himself, and he was rather docile at the current time. His eyes continuously looked around the shop, giving a slight wave of friendliness to the other who seemed to be working nearby. After a few moments, he finally settled his eyes on the man before him, giving a somewhat shy grin. Older men always seemed to unnerve Isha, half the reason being admiration for just being older, the other half being intimidation, since he was so short that most other men towered over him.

"I have a bit more time until I should return home; Do you have any recommendations of shops and such to visit in the neighborhood?"

Richard half expected the card to be declined and the tsunami of excuses to come crashing down on him. If that happened, then Isha would find himself on every blacklist in every store in the entire city and Richard would not have rested until he got every penny from this child. He didn't really like those jawbreakers, but he'd be damned if someone walked out of his store without paying his dues.

Yet, his fears were for nothing. The charge was accepted, and the receipt printed out shortly after, relieving Richard of the effort he would have had to go through to put a bounty on the young man's head. On the one hand, he was pleased- why wouldn't he be? But the other part of him was looking for an excuse to lurk this kid in a dark alley and drain every bit of energy as he could from him. But there was no need, and that was enough to bring a more pleasant smile to his features.

Upon Isha's request, he wore a sly grin of his own, and he didn't think twice to turned his crimson eyes over to the store across the street. "Padma's Bouquet is right across the street. There, you'll see all the beautiful and exotic flowers your heart would desire, and I think you'll enjoy the owner. Krishna's a hoot."

It was devious what he did, but what could Richard do? Part of him wanted the youth to smash a vase and ruin a plant, just to see his friend chase him out with a broom. Whereas he was willing to allow him to pay for his damages, Krishna would not tolerate such a thing, and seeing the florist flip his lid would have been the most entertaining thing to happen all week. He'd be a FOOL to pass this up.

"Not sure how you feel about flowers, but if you'd like to kill some time, I'd say give it a look." Richard's smile was beaming at this point, and he was willing to put aside the taffy and spy on them from a distance to get his quality entertainment for the day. "Tell Krishna I said hi, won't you?"

"I'm not too big of a fan of flowers.. But I'm sure I can take a gander. Mother's Day is coming up pretty soon, so.. Might as well get something arranged, especially since I'm no where near the normal place I'd go to get flowers." He took his purchases and put them around his arm, so as not to drop THESE. There was no way in hell he was going to buy more candy today. Especially since there wan an uneasy feeling beginning to stir in his stomach. Perhaps he was having pains for actual food. Maybe it was time for lunch, then he'd go and check out this little flower shop.

"Thank you so much for your time, and your understanding! Next time I come in, I'll make sure to watch what I'm doing!" Though when that would be.. Probably not for a while. Not until he made sure the older man had time to completely calm down. Hopefully, his smooth handling of the situation was good enough to leave a sweet taste in Richard's mouth.

"I'll be sure to let him know You said "Hi"! Have a pleasant Afternoon!" With that, and a slight nod to the other employee of the shop, Isha exited, heading over to the flower shop across the street.

"Yes, most mothers do enjoy a bouquet and the feeling of appreciation," Richard said, trying his best to keep his opinion of his own mother to himself and not allow too much of it to drip into his voice. After all, not all mothers were money grubbing parasites, and in truth, much of himself had come from his mother. "After all, they carry you around for nine months, spend hours in labor, then, if you're lucky, put up with you for 18 years, or longer! Yes, they deserve much appreciation, and I think Krishna's flowers would be just the way to show it!"

When Isha made comments about gratitude and watching his movements, Richard gave him a curt nod and tried not to let him see the murderous twinkle in his eyes. It wasn't like him to get so worked up, especially over jawbreakers, so he pondered why he was taking this so personally to begin with. It wasn't like he couldn't man up to his mistakes or pay for the damages, and it certainly wasn't intentional... perhaps his after work activities were getting the better of him after all and he was taking it out on poor Isha?

Nevertheless, it was a matter he would deal with later, and for now, he was more than happy to see him leave his store. He hoped that the next time he came in, he'd keep his dancing to himself, and Richard himself would have been in a better mood. "Have a wonderful day... and do steer clear of the flytraps! He's rather fond of those!"

Though the thought of someone getting bitten by that thing amused him greatly... and that wasn't even his bad mood that brought that thought to his mind.
