This is a pre-election result ORP! I wanted to do one, and Zaia has approved it, so feel free to RP and mingle! I've invited those of us that have been actively playing in the election, from all the teams, but feel free to also have them bring anyone they like [like a significant other/best friend/whatever]!
I've had a ton of fun playing with you guys, and once again, thanks to Zaia for running this thing! When the results are posted OOC, I'll also "broadcast" on the TVs in the ORP.

While it wasn't the end of what had been a long, exhausting day, it was the end of voting. The last of the polls had closed and the ballots were being cast, the results of their efforts spent campaigning to be revealed in only a few hours.
It was agony.
Rather than go home and freak herself out, Avery had put on a nice suit and organized a party to thank the volunteers that had helped her, and to welcome the hardworking teams of her fellow candidates, Penelope Seneca and Wallace Suite. She'd met a few of them while securing votes, and they seemed just as dedicated to their chosen council member!
It was good to see, even if it did something to quell the anxiety in her stomach.
Of course, in larger elections, such parties were held in different parts of town, but Avery didn't see a reason for that, here. They were all young, and the campaigns hadn't gotten dirty. Why not celebrate youth-in-action, together?
The back half of the restaurant [nice, but not too nice] had been reserved for this purpose, flat screens on the walls tracking the progress of the election [on mute], while music played throughout. There was a buffet of food, and servers taking drink orders or pulling away and refilling dishes as needed. There was a small PA system, and a slightly raised stage that was probably most often used for live music, and small tables arranged nicely throughout the place, close enough to talk between. Though 'Vote Hollister' banners were in the space, there were an equal number of 'Penelope Seneca' and 'Wallace Suite' adverts in place, signaling that this place, this party, was dedicated to the youngest three candidates running for city council.
Avery took a sip of wine, before flashing her bright smile to another arrival. It was starting to fill up, and that was good, it made her hazel eyes drag away from the screens.
Ian was oddly pleased with his work in the campaigning process, but since there was little to do but to wait, he figured why shouldn't he go to this party thing. It was better than doing the math homework he was currently avoiding.
He bounded into the back area, pleased to see posters from each of the three campaigning groups on the walls. He had no idea whether or not this was how things were traditionally done, with them all meeting up together, but he thought it was a great idea. The candidates weren't really all that different and since they all couldn't win, it would be good to support the other candidates as well.
He ordered a chocolate milkshake and a coke from one of the servers, and then flopped down in a seat near Avery. "So," he chirped, grinning brightly. "This was fun!"

Liberty Marie's stomach was roaring. Her hind end ached and her mouth was dry. But, the polls were finally closed.
The girl had rushed home, showered, changed, and devoured a granola bar to tide herself over. This late, the kitchen in the restaurant may have been closing down, so she brought a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in a small shoulder bag.
With so many people at home watching the elections, the taxi drive had been fast. The driver had a local radio station on which gave updates every fifteen minutes between songs. It was much too early to tell anything.
The building was abuzz, complete with smells of sodas, alcohols, chicken, beef, vegetables, sautees, garlic, butter, lemon, you name it, the room was full of it. Liberty pulled her jacket off, laying it over her arm as she began greetings and made a v-line for the bar to request a menu.
It was in hand when Liberty heard a voice to her left. Avery had just begun a conversation with a young campaigner, and the redhead didn't bother to hold back a grin and make her way towards them.
"Hello you two." A nod to both of them, and a longer look to Avery. She extended a hand towards the boy receiving a soda. "I'm Liberty Marie. It's nice to meet you. Which candidate did you support?" If he'd been working under Avery Hollister, she would certainly have known him by now.
"And this," the Reever's grin was growing as she shifted her jacket out of the way, "Is for you." A square dark blue box, roughly eight inches by eight inches and held together by a black ribbon, was pulled from the bag at her hip and set in front of Avery. "Open it after."
With the campaigning over and the polls closed Marlin knew that it was pretty much a waiting game now. It was a little nerve-wracking watching the tv in his flat for any hint of news, so when he had heard about Avery’s invite, Marlin had been all too happy to pick up his keys and head down to the restaurant where the little party was being held after he’d changed into something smart casual.
It had been a surprisingly clean campaign on all sides – well not to Marlin’s opinion on Avery’s side – but the teams for both Penelope and Wallace had also run a clean campaign – not something that always happened in elections.
After picking up a glass of red wine, Marlin paused briefly to track the progress on one of the flat screen tvs before heading over to Avery’s table “Good Evening” his voice was cheerful as he directed his greeting to everyone at the table.
Arian had been surprised when he’d heard that a party had been arranged for all the campaigners regardless of candidates, but the dark-haired teen had decided to attend.
It was his first time getting involved in political campaigning having been too young to vote back in his native UK – in fact he had only hit the age of majority this year – or had he? Arian knew back in the UK that he’d be considered legally an adult now, but some things still tripped him up occasionally – despite being into his third year living in Destiny City.
Other a little bit of dithering on what to wear Arian had opted for a shirt and a nice pair of slacks. His long hair for once was out of its usual braid and tied back in a low ponytail, the frog hairband securing it a little bit of whimsicalness on his part.
People were already there by the time Arian arrived and he opted for a glass of sparkling apple juice before heading over to the table where Avery was sitting. “Good evening” his quiet greeting for Avery, the red-haired young woman (Liberty Marie) and the dark-haired young man (Ian) seated nearby. “It was a good campaign.”

Avery had no desire food, but she'd taken her glass over to the bar for a refill [less time than waiting for a server, certainly], when a young man addressed her, dropping into a seat at a nearby table.
He was familiar, and she flashed him a smile. "You were at the debate, and..." A laugh as she remembered catching some of his antics while they'd all sold cupcakes. "Volunteering. For Wallace, right?"
She felt tired, stressed, and despite her put together appearance, hadn't slept much the night before. But, there had been a lot of fun aspects, despite the work. She couldn't say it wasn't worth it.
Her attention, however, shifted from him when she heard a familiar voice, hazel eyes flicking to the redhead's wide grin as her heart sped up. Asking Liberty to be her campaign manager had been a saving grace, and seeing her arrive now instantly made the brunette more at ease.
"Libby," Avery took a step forward, resisting the urge to fix her tie and finding a distraction in the form of a box that was suddenly presented. A present. "Oh," She accepted it, brows raising before she placed it on the table. "Thank you," Flushed cheeks accompanied a hug before she took a seat, gesturing to the one next to her.
"Did you order? There's food at the buffet if you're too hungry to wait." Liberty was always hungry.
Marlin arrived shortly after, and Avery smiled at him, lifting her own glass of wine in greeting. "I'm so glad you came!" She informed him, before her gaze shifted to Arian. "Thank you, everyone did so well."
While she would normally offer him a seat, she was certain he'd want to sit with Penelope when she arrived!
Needing no second direction, Liberty took her seat next to Avery Hollister and leaned against one arm of her seat so she could better hear what Ian and Avery were saying.
"Not yet, I--" Marlin's arrival broke off the end of her sentence. Always the greeter, Liberty beamed in his direction. "Hey, Marlin. I loved the poster you made. The light bulb balloon was really inventive."
She fell silent when Arian arrived, letting Avery fill in the space with her natural ability to converse. There was a gnawing in Liberty's gut that was making it harder and harder to focus.
"Excuse me for a moment." Her seat was slid back, though her bag and jacket were left over the chair. Moving a hand to Avery's, she leaned in just slightly so her voice wouldn't overpower the entire table.
"Could you do me a favor?" Liberty's green eyes were set on hazel. "If the server comes around before I get back, can you order me a 12 oz. steak? Mashed potatoes for the side, and extra horse radish. Thank you!" Liberty gave a tight squeeze to Avery's shoulder as she headed away from the table.
Buffet.

Avery shifted in her seat as Liberty leaned closer, "Of course, I-" She shouldn't have been surprised at the request, but her laugh - a bright, sudden sound, let Liberty know that she was. "Yes."
And Liberty was off, heading across the room. Avery dragged her eyes away to catch those of a server, and quickly ordered the steak - rare.
---
Kess gave her cousin a firm clap to the back as she joined her at the buffet, balancing two plates on her arm, which she was methodically loading with free food [Avery was a great friend]. "Hey, cuz."
She and Lena had arrived only moments before, but the redhead had been a little too busy making googoo eyes at Avery to notice. "You look sharp."
That woman was such a goner. It had taken quite a bit of arm-twisting [see: none at all] to get the bluenette to dress up for the occasion. Without the need to look impressive, trustworthy, or really needing to look like anything other than the young twenty-something she was, Lena was in her element. Certainly you couldn't miss her in the room, wearing the screaming watermelon-colored dress she was! Sinking into a chair clearly not meant for a redheaded Reever, Lena shot a loaded look across the table at Avery.
Loaded looks were becoming a language onto themselves lately for Lena, mostly where Avery and Libby were concerned. Coming out and saying anything would have been insulting and ridiculous, which was more important than being seen as nosy. Maneuvering all the players, however, was different. Zac had been teaching her chess.
She was still abysmal at it.
So instead, when she opened her mouth, the remark was casual. "Sorry Avery. I tried to pick something that supported the campaign but this thing reached out of my closet and tried to strangle me. I couldn't leave it home alone." It certainly was strangling something, though many would have suspected it was the cones in the eyes of everyone around her. "Have you written your victory toast yet?" Snagging the same waiter, though not in the same polite way the candidate herself had, Lena ordered whatever it was Avery was having.
Classing up a bit never hurt anyone. Getting shitfaced drunk at a nice party like this did though.

Penelope was trying to make herself look as small as possible in the hubbub of those waiting to hear what would occur. It wasn't that she was trying to be unfriendly or anything, but she was just so very nervous! She glanced around the room for members of her team, however, knowing how hard they had all worked and wanting to thank them. They could have supported anyone--and they had chosen her! It was a truly humbling experience for the already humble girl.
She saw several others already seated and nervously sipped at the drink in her hand. She did not want to interrupt conversation, particularly when everyone seemed to be having a good time. Or maybe that was just her nervousness talking.
How much longer would she have to wait? There was no possible way she could eat with so much suspense!
Avery's responding look was full of innocence as she took a full swallow of wine, brows raised at Lena. She didn't bother to say 'what,' and instead risked a glance toward the Cousins Reever before eyeing Lena's dress. It was adorable, and voting had long since closed, so what was the harm?
"You look so cute." The two were a match made in girly heaven, and the brunette laughed. "Did you do your nails yourself?" She reached out to take Lena's hand and look at the design. They were kept short, manicured, and clearly painted by someone with flair. Avery's were just as well kept, though she went with a professional clear coat, instead.
"I've jotted down a few talking points," She admitted, before raising a brow, "For my concession, as well." Avery tried to be as prepared as possible, at all times.

Taking an experimental sip of something she'd never drunk before, Lena discovered that she wasn't quite experienced enough a palate to truly enjoy wine. There was something crisp, almost clear about what it was she was drinking, but it just wasn't as good as a mixer would have been. It lacked the sweet fruitiness that had Lena dancing on tables. Though really, thinking about the appropriateness of the situation, was a good thing. "We really should go out dancing sometime. You, me, Kess, Libby, whomever else you wanted. A fun girls' night when this is all done." Lena knew, in her head, that she shouldn't really be making friends with what she called Uncertain Elements, but she couldn't help herself.
Uncertain Elements were those civilians that were not confirmed parts of the Negaverse. Libby, technically, was an Uncertain Element yet she couldn't be escaped. Vanya was safe. Avery was not, despite the fact that she and the smaller Destiny City native were very much two peas in a pod. Girly, intelligent, stuck like sap on the Reever cousins. So much to bond over! So much room for trouble. Not being able to get on the council herself was causing Lena to once again feel like a loose-end, even if running at all had probably been one of the more stupid things she'd done. It also shamed her to think she was cozying up to Avery just for influence.
Was it bad to want to make a new friend?
"I was going to let Kess do my nails, but she looked at me like I was asking her to recreate the Sistine Chapel." Eyes rolled, laughter followed, and legs crossed. "Never concede. Give the victory speech anyway." Good advice, Lena.

Only Kess would be able to feel the jerk Liberty's body made. For a fraction of a second, she'd felt the impulse to deck whoever had hit her on the shoulder.
It passed as she added another slice of garlic bread onto her plate with tongs.
"Kessy." A smile. Her stomach rumbled again. Would it be so wrong to eat while she was adding ingredients to her salad?
"Thanks. So do you. Is Lena here, too?" A quick glance around the restaurant answered the question in watermelon red. Combined with the hair, it was an eye-popping fashion statement. But even if she hadn't been colored neon, Liberty would have noticed anyone making conversation with Avery Hollister. "It's great to see how well they get along." Liberty meant for the sake of the election, naturally.

"I would love that," Avery's response was immediate, excitement brightening her eyes and expression. "Blowing off steam after all of this would be amazing." Avery Hollister had been quite the party girl overseas, and had yet to find the same sort of scene in Destiny City. Lena, though, she could tell was just as mischievous as she was. They could have some fun.
Avery couldn't say that the idea of dragging Libby along wasn't appealing, though, and looked over toward the buffet again, in time to catch the redhead's eyes. The curve of her red lips was automatic.
"I think they're just standing there, eating the entire thing," she remarked to Lena.
---
"Ain't it just," Kess' drawl was nothing short of amused as she put a roll directly in her mouth and spoke loudly around it, "It'll make the double-weddin' real easy."
Golly, she was funny.
Her elbow poked at Libby's ribs as she shot her cousin a shameless sort of stare, and headed back toward the table.
One of the plates was set unceremoniously in front of Lena, "Here," It was an entirely healthy combination of mini-corn dogs, raw veggies with dip, and mini-cinnamon rolls from the appetizer section, some pesto chicken pasta crap, and some bread. Kess obviously knew how to feed a woman.
Her own plate contained just about everything, in a sort of gluttonous mountain. "Nice spread, Hollister."
They were going to get in so much trouble! Lena's immediate reaction was actually to prod her smoky-eyed fiance into bringing Avery over so that all of this bullshit Uncertain Elements stuff could be nothing but water under the corruption bridge. That, however, was not for tonight. Tonight was for laughing, making plans, and holding your breath while the votes were counted. Perhaps also trying not to notice that Avery and Libby were exchanging looks so hot that someone was going to combust now and again.
Putting her wine aside to look at the buffet, the two plates mounded high with food, whiskey eyes rolled. "That wouldn't surprise me. Food just doesn't last in the house which works out, because even with keeping the books at the Spot, I have way too much time on my hands. Having the campaign has really been great, thank you so much for letting me be a part of it." Picking up her glass again, Lena tapped hers against the darker woman's with a bright smile.
It only grew brighter when Kess set the 'randomly selected' plate of food in front of her. Pasta, cinnamon rolls, her favorite crunchy veggies? Another one of those loaded looks, this one full of mirth, affection, and understanding was shot Kess' way before she tucked in. "Thanks Kess. I wasn't going to want to have to wrestle you or Libby for my shot at scraps off that table you were demolishing. Avery and I were just laying bets on who would be silly enough to try it first."
