At approximately noon on the day before the mission, each trainee would find a package on their bed. How she'd managed to get the parcels into their (presumably locked) rooms was a mystery. It was of no concern!
First and most noticeable was a note, which read:Quote: Mandatory External Mission. Meet at the portals by 10 pm sharp tomorrow. Bring as little as possible; this will be a stealth mission.
- Ami It was late, but you couldn't very well perform a heist in the middle of the day. Deryk and Jake's note had an additional addendum. Quote: Report to Gale Gentry beforehand. You'll be acting as his eyes on the inside. He'll brief you. Underneath the note was a large, bulkier object. Upon first glance it looks like a square flag of some sort, but upon further investigation you realize it's a super secret agent spy outfit. A tiny note sits in the collar.
Dwight insisted you wear this. I don't particularly care one way or another.
The third and final thing they'd find would be a runic headset. It was particularly smaller than the average headset a trainee was given. It worked like a headset, it really doesn't need explanation.
---
Ami was too nervous to sleep. Most nights she spent awake thanks to a traumatic insomnia anyways, but tonight was different. Now she was nervously going over details of her misison- over and over. Suppose they returned with nothing? Suppose she lost a trainee in the process? Ami had never had lives on her hands, not like this. She vaguely wondered how Caelius and H juggled the hunters in their hands on a daily basis- did they sleep? Did they care?
No, that was silly thinking. These trainees probably wouldn't die. It was just a library after all. Right?
---
At the appointed hour Ami stood impatiently by the portal entrance. She had donned her own spy outfit. Though she'd made it clear in the note it didn't matter to her what the trainees wore, she was actually rather pleased by the outfit Dwight had given her. It was maybe a bit tight, but it was definitely easier to move around in than a skirt. Certainly better for sneaking than her dainty lace and chiffon. It was also one of the only times Ami would ever wear pants. Over the outfit, she of course had her hunter's coat. As accessible as the spy outfit was, nothing would ever excuse the necessity of their coat.
"Gale? Do you read?" She was slowly turning a dial in her ear, trying to get her headset to work. "Gale?"
She sighed, giving up for now. Hopefully the trainees would show up soon. She couldn't do this by herself, after all.

"No," came a slightly fuzzy voice crackling over the headset. He sounded faintly amused. "I don't read at all. You're terribly far away and I can't remember what it is that I'm supposed to be doing."
In one of the lesser used offices in the Death Division, Gale sat with his feet propped up on the desk in front of him, dressed in his own outfit that mainly consisted of a black turtleneck sweater, a pair of black pants, and black combat boots.
Who cared if he wasn't even going on the mission, he was wearing it anyway.
"I'm kidding, of course," said Gale, pulling a stack of papers into his lap. "You're coming over loud and clear. You all set to go?"

The mysterious package he had received was definitely mysterious. Apparently Ami had some sort of external mission here, with Gale. The package itself, contained a few things. Things necessary for this stealth mission. The prospect of this both excited and terrified Deryk. Was he really cut out for this sort of thing?
He could only hope so.
In any case, he donned his attire. It was pretty much a simple black outfit with a few pouches and what not for extra equipment. He also still had a hood, apparently. But that was fine with him. Once he was all set, he made his way to report to Gale just as he was instructed.
"Deryk Bond reporting for duty," he said as he entered the office.

"That's not funny," Ami replied, cursing the fact that she hadn't chosen Otto or Eva for the job. Then again, Otto would be just as snarky, and like Gale had said- Eva was busy.
She rolled her eyes and found a place to sit near the entrance to the portal. "When you're done with Deryk and Jake send them over here. Don't waste my time."
Then she went back to scanning the crowd for the other trainees she was supposed to look out for.

He rolled his eyes.
<< Can't take a joke, can see? >>
Apparently not today.
Absently rubbing his forearm - which was now properly covered in bandages beneath the black sweater - Gale tapped on the headset and gave a small sigh. "Ami, need I remind you that I was, in fact, promoted before you - and therefore I know I am perfectly capable of handling this assignment. Please don't treat me like Caelius does, I was just trying to lighten the mood."
<< Touchy touchy. >>
She's probably just anxious.
Deryk's arrival was a welcome distraction, Gale swiveling in his chair to face the other.
"Hey," he said. "I'll make this brief - you're going to be helping Ami out there in the field, but I'll be back here at HQ monitoring your progress. If at any time you need any help just hit me up with this - " He tapped the headset currently residing on top of his head. " - and I'll see what I can do to help out."
Gale gave Deryk a slight smile. "You can go ahead and go on over to Ami before she has a conniption. Just lemme know if you guys need anything. Also remember that you're Death - gather as much intel as you can without doing anything to compromise Ami's mission."

Oh, so Gale was staying behind keeping an eye on things. Alright. Hopefully they won't need to call on him too much, but he could never be sure how these missions were going to run. For that matter, he didn't quite know what they were doing aside from sneaking around.
"Y-yes sir! Will do my best," Deryk nodded. Hopefully things will go fairly smooth. He'll gather whatever he could. Taking in a deep breath, he went on to go meet with Ami at the lighthouse.
"Reporting for duty," he said to the life hunter as he showed up.

Jake only eyed the package with mild irritation as he picked up the note and looked up it. A package in his room meant his door either had been unlocked... again, or someone broke in. Neither scenarios made him happy.
... Thanks for the vote of confidence.
The contents of the package were treated with even MORE disdain as he opened his package and found... a suit. What the hell was he supposed to do with a suit.
Later, Gale would hear a knock on his door, but before he could open it, Jake already stepped in, donning a bright teal sleeveless sweater under his also sleeveless (somewhat used) intermediate coat. It was quite evident he didn't bother with the stealth suit (and hopefully more evident to Gale from their last mission together that Jake was anything but stealthy).
Holding the headset in one hand, he slapped the note on Gale's desk and arched an eyebrow at him. "What's this all about?"

Gale swiveled around his chair, his eyes flicking from Jake's feet up to his face, leaning against his hand and lifting a brow.
"Nice coat," he said mildly. "Congrats on your new and improved (maybe) self."
That being said, Gale picked up the note, dangled it between two gloved fingers, and then crumpled it into a ball and tossed it over his shoulder, crossing one leg over the other. "All right, I gave this same speech to Deryk, but here's the Cliff Notes version. You're going with Ami and the others on a mission. I'll be staying here to provide support from HQ. If you get stuck or have any questions, just send 'em my way, and I'll tell you what a can."
He pointed a finger in Jake's direction. "You're a Death hunter, so I shouldn't have to remind you to act like one. Gather information, but your priority is backing up Ami."
Gale gave a sigh. "And try not to be a total prat while you're there, will you?"

Gale's comment only earned a grin with a nice row of teeth. "Why Thank you sir, I am positively over-brimming with self confidence." Meanwhile, in the back of his mind, Chester was silently reminding him not to patronize the kid, who, in case Jake forgot, was a hunter. He was tempted to ask why Gale himself wasn't going, but a thought popped into his head and had to bite his lip to refrain from making a remark that might have involved the death hunter's name and "vertically-challenged"... but he couldn't help himself.
Stamping his foot, he looked straight ahead, giving a mock salute. "YES SIR, YOUR MIDGET HIGHNESS SIR, I WILL NOT FAIL YOU." ...And then proceeded to march out quicky before Gale could aim something at his head. Maybe a rifle.

Pasha wasn't entirely sure she liked super secret agent spy outfits.
For one... they were tight. They fit her like a second skin and accented the fact that she had zero cleavage and a tiny figure and why couldn't she just wear a dress. But being the obedient trainee that she was, Pasha had spent an entire hour before the mission trying to squeeze into the one she'd found alongside her own note. When she'd finally managed it, Pasha had spent another five minutes admiring her handy-work and true spy-like appearance before realizing that she had to go out like this too.
There was a scoff and an awkward noise in the back of her head. Very... inconspicuous.
"Shh."
Very flattering?
"P-please stop."
Very appropriate then.
"... Okay."
Pasha exited her room and trotted off to the assigned location like a mouse trying to sneak its way through a maze without being seen. When she finally found Ami, it took her an entire minute to brave the idea of going into someones line of sight wearing what she was wearing under her coat before she stepped around the corner and fidgeted uncomfortably.
"Um - "
Pause, awkward scuffle. Zero cleavage, stick-like legs, and no curves. She was an embarrassment to the female population.
"Hello! I'm... um - reporting for duty? - I hope I can be of service." Yes, good, Pasha. Human interaction wasn't so hard after all - maybe.

Ami listened to the whole scuffle over her headset and put a hand to her face. Boys.
The mission hadn't even started and there were already problems. "Hello, Deryk," Ami said monotonously, crossing his name off on her list.
Much more quietly, she muttered into the microphone, "It's not you I'm worried about. I don't want anybody getting hurt-" While the sentiment seemed kind, her true intent came later. "Because it's on my head. It'll be a major pain in my a** if I have to wipe them off the floor." Gale was right. Ami was incredibly nervous. There was a reason she kept to her labs, her library, her room. Then she could be accountable for herself and no one else. Now she had 6 whole people risking their lives and if they died? She'd be the one to replace them.
A fate worse than death. Recruiting trainees.
"And Jake too, I see." Another name crossed off her list. "I believe punctuality is a virtue, so consider yourselves saints. I presume you've spoken with Gale?"
Then came Pasha, who looked like she was about to throw up. "Hm. Yes, hello Pasha." There was a very poignant flick of her wrist as she crossed Pasha' name off as well. "It seems Dwight got your size wrong. It wouldn't be the first time." Was that a compliment, or an insult? "Oh don't worry, you will be."

"Yes, hello." Pasha pushed her fingers into her cheeks, staring anywhere but Ami's super tight, super pretty body. She was so pretty. "No - I think I'm just too tiny to fit into anything correctly." She mused, staring down at herself as a hot flush crept across her cheeks.
"But you look very pretty in your outfit. V-very formidable!" She complimented innocently, tugging at her pigtails gently and swaying from side to side. If it was an insult Ami had administered, Pasha was either too dense to notice, or too callous to remarks about her body to care anymore. She even peered around the girl for a moment to wave at Deryk too. Yes, hello, Deryk. You get acknowledgement too. Turning back to Ami, she blinked at the comment, not entirely sure if it was just a knee-jerk response or not. Either way...
"Oh, that's good!" She returned bashfully, rubbing the back of her head. "You seem like a g-good leader to follow..."
And also very pretty.
Táo snorted in the back of her head. Pasha, be quiet.

Rubbing the back of his head when he arrived at the portals, arching an eyebrow at the two lone hunters already there. He wasn't opposed to small groups (and actually preferred not having to deal with so many people), but if this was such an important mission, he somewhat thought there would be more hunters (not to mention it seemed Gale was hinting at there being a small group).
In response to Ami, he only shrugged. "Yah, pleasant talk. Very informative." He might or might not have been sarcastic.
Upon arrival of another girl in what seemed to another skin-tight suit, Jake only sighed. "So, what EXACTLY is this mission about, or are we going off-island to do yoga or something?" Seriously, these outfits were so tacky, nevermind the fact he chose not to wear his. It was like they were re-enacting some action movie or something.
... Hell, that'd better not be what this whole mission was about. If so, he was leaving.

"For the record, I think you'll do fine." Gale's voice crackled a little, the headset fritzing slightly before it was adjusted. "You're pretty badass, from what I hear."
The smile was obvious in his voice.
"Just kick Jake if anything goes wrong."
