It hadn't been long till Dakota had to talk to the life labs about certain technology and grants for items to be used for his team to train with...

The same team that would soon one day specialize in search and rescue missions, maybe even escorting halloweeners to their weapon doom.

So when he entered the life labs, he looked around for a hunter to talk to and...

Saw the russian traitor instead. Because this would go over well for the poor dude.

"Oh, So you guys didn't get exiled out to Sahara for wasting your time. You guys find the truth while you were portal hopping out?"

Lucky jumped, and proceeded to knock over a whole stack of books beside him.

"You could say this," he sniffed. One glance Dakota's way and he kept his green eyes very deliberately on the floor. He recognized him all right. Threatened him with a saw and everything. Yes. That guy. He reached down to pick up one of the fallen books with a hand that twitched with a nervous tic. There was a half circle of burnt black visible beyond the edge of his sleeve.

"Please." Dakota sighed, he wasn't fond of being overly mean to people who didn't really understand what was going on, and Lucky was well.....not good at english. He sighed loudly AGAIN and then went over to the the stack of fallen books and started to pick them up.

"You're pretty weak if you're easily intimidated by me in a life lab dude." Dakota hissed as he started to pile book after book and then glared. "An pretty stupid if you think we should treat you normally after a event like what you did but....I want to know what happened. What you saw on the other side, so the next time one of you idiots decide its okay to just jump ship, I have a pretty good argument to argue."

"Am not intimidated!" he mumbled back. Was he that obvious? Kurwa. The realization didn't stop his fingers from shaking still. "Just... you startle me. Vas... thinking." Yes very smooth.

Lucky looked a little bit-- disgusted? Queasy? - at the idea of recounting what happened, and tried to change the subject. He picked up another book and traced the imperfections of the spine with his thumb.

"I vas thinking," he spoke lowly, waving the book in the general direction of the labs, "All of this vas for greater good, protection, not little revenges of these - these wariata who are gone so long from world they forget even to be human. Am not knowing vhat to think any more. It vas bad choice, mistake I make, but mój Boże, I made it for right reasons I swearing to you."

He looked expectantly at Dakota, as if to add an unspoken 'you believe me, don't you???'

"Sure, not intimidated." Dakota snorted as he threw the books back in a pile on the table. "Try not to drop any more books with those hands butterfingers." He moved to take a chair and studied the hunter.

The mere mention of the traitors portal had the lifer paling and Dakota wondering just how bad the situation had gotten there.

"Yeah it was a mistake, And you made a horrible one at that." Dakota propped his feet up on the table and narrowed his eyes. "You went to follow a guy who used a intercom as a way to threaten and coerce the hunters to turning against leaders who were calm, cool and collected. And wouldn't play into this guys game. They are a threat. And you went to join them." Dakota shrugged.

"Your choice, the same for Solia and the same for the ever crazy and usually cool Ice Queen Mimsy." Dakota raised a eyebrow at Lucky, "Right reason or not is not up to me. Your gonna have to answer to your leader. What I am more intrested in is what you saw. You said people...that weren't humans? Or forgot to be....Why? What made them different then the humans we are?"

"Jump to conclusion is big leap," he chided, trying to feign some sincerity in his voice and not doing a great job of it. To be safe, he made sure to position himself on the other side of the table. He'd been thinking about this obsessively since the incident - even with the threat of shame and ostracism hanging low over his head, he couldn't just accept such a simple explanation. "But I am envy your confidence in such thing."

Lucky stared at Dakota intensely for a few seconds, gears turning, then laughed grimly and set down the last book on the pile. "Oh, no. They are human." He reconsidered his wording. "Vere."

The trainee fidgeted a little in his seat before he pressed on with his explanation. Grasping for excuses not to have to say anything. "You did not hear... over intercom... vhat happen?"

"I have every ounce of confidence in everything I say." Dakota started to pretend leaf through a book he held and still watched Lucky carefully over it. "The intercom provided us as much as it could...aka, once you guys disappeared, we had to chill and wait for...allan to bring you back or whatever. Caelius disappeared and then we were all back together."

Dakota hesitated again and then waited for Lucky to elaborate. "They are Human...and aren't? Tell me Lucky." Dakota leaned forward.

"What happened to you guys, and who did you meet?"

"Human, and dead," he clarified.

He wilted a little under Dakota's intensity, picking up one of the heavier-looking books and propping it spine-upward on the table. As if placing things between them would shield him from the scrutiny. or at least give him the illusion of it.

It didn't.

"Ve end up in jungle..." Until he began to explain, he hadn't realized just how much he had been holding in, how many things he feared even mentioning of his own choice back on the island, even to those who had been there. The words kept coming, as if this were the first and last time he would ever get to say them. "There are hunters there, vith runic veapon. No faces, they have mask, bags, holes for eyes. Vhite coats, vith no symbol. They do not speak. But they are Hunter."

"'O' speak to us from a tent. He say ve are to join his 'reformation'. He vant us to give up our veapons-" Song was still firmly silent in the aftermath, and even as he hesitated a moment, there was no answer, not even the slightest acknowledgement. Eyes fixed on the book, he pressed on - "and to be given mark, like tattoo. Just - just a circle."

"So most of us are as good as have joined. Ve give veapons. Ve get marking. And suddenly, Sam pull veapon on them and attack." He finally looked up, adding darkly, "I think you know vhat happen next."
