IC
It could have been morning, it could have been midafternoon, no one could really tell. The air seemed foggy around the vines of Chalcedony's large and usually busy home and hung throughout Jauhar. Even the animals seemed to quiet in this heavy and stange coverage. The air was thick and suffocating, something even the typically loud birds of the forest couldn't help but feel.

The dampness of the air hung heavy on skin and fur alike; no winged beast or bug would be flying today.

The unrelenting mist challenged the vision of even the best inhabitants and it was hard for any earthling to see even two feet in front of them, including from the canopy.

From what seems like the forest floor, Isa's laughter could be heard, along with the voice of an older man.

Chalcedony stood on one of the high branches of the tree that his home was built in, peering out through the thick fog with a curious look on his face. It was hard to tell what time of day it was due to how thick the stuff was, were it not for the fact that his skin was in its dark phase he wouldn't have known even to a degree what part of the day they were on. It was strange, he'd seen fog before but this was something different, something that caused him to feel a little on edge. He had a feeling it was because of his inability to see what was around him. An enemy could be right on top of him at the moment and he could be completely blind to that fact, "I hope it clears out soon." It wasn't safe for anyone involved he thought to himself, talking a few steps along the branch he was on, hopping down to the one just below it.

It was really strange, wasn't it? The birds who were normally chattering up a storm about this time of day were even completely silent. It was enough to send a shiver up his spine, "What's going on?" He murmured to nobody in particular as he hopped down a couple branches, noting how the fog seemed to leave behind a sheen of wetness as he walked through it. It would leave the branches he was walking on quite slick so he was going to have to take his patrol really carefully both so that he didn't get blindsided and to make sure that he didn't risk a slip and fall off of one of these branches. He wouldn't survive if he fell from this height, especially given that the branches were so damp that he wouldn't have much of a chance to catch himself on one of them as he fell. Instead of even risking a fall though he meant to take it branch by branch, that was the plan at least but like most plans his was about to awry when he heard something from below that he didn't like the sound of. There was a giggling sound of a voice that was painfully familiar to him, that of his youngest sister Isa.

"Isa...?" He murmured, squinting his eyes in an attempt to spot her down below but had no chance at spotting her, not from this height. She should be with their mother he thought to himself... and when he heard another voice, that of an older man, he felt his protective instincts rise up along with a bit of anger. He didn't think that was his father's voice which meant some stranger had his sister! Eyes go narrowed Chalcedony started to make his way down the tree toward the voices as quickly as he was able to do, no longer worried about falling, instead far more worried about his baby sister and the potentially dangerous man that had hold of her. He wasn't sure why she would be taken, ransom or revenge against Chal or his father, but either way he was going to get her back no matter what!

The moment his feet touched the ground he cried out, "Give me back Isa!"

Chalcedony's words echoed in the fog around him but were greeted with an emptiness. Isa and the man that belonged to the voice couldn't be spotted.

The forest seemed to be betraying Chalcedony in this moment. Another set of giggles from Isa could be heard, but the reverberations from the fog and trees resonated the muffled sounds from all directions. Who knew where they could actually be.

It would be near impossible to find Isa in these weather conditions but it would have to be done.

On the floor by Chalcedony's feet, small deposits of light colored powdered sand littered the floor.

[Isa seems to have been taken to Tale! Prepare a solo on Chalcedony's journey and thoughts into Tale]

It really was a strange and terrible feeling, to be so isolated in the forest that normally felt like home to him, cut off from his baby sister, and enraged by the fog that wasn't allowing for him to figure out exactly where she or the man that had her were located. When he hit the forest floor he'd thought that he would spot them, that he would be able to see who it was that was daring to mess with his little sister, and had hoped that he would be able to take his shield to the side of the man's head... no such luck though. He stood there, feel quite dazed, and tried to wrap his mind around exactly what had happened and how some stranger had been able to get his dirty, disgusting, thieving hands on his baby sister when she should have been with his parents. Were the rest of them alright? Should he check on them? Or should he continue to search for Isa? There was a moment when he was completely torn, that was until he suddenly spotted the sand that was on the ground, leading back toward where it had originated, the big, male footprints walking alongside smaller ones that belonged to Isa.

The sand, it was a too familiar color, a color he'd grown accostomed to seeing when he was travelling across Tale, something he'd done twice in the past. Kneeling down he brushed his fingers against the stuff and there was a moment where he saw nothing but red. Tale... someone from Tale had taken Isa? Lunging to his feet he spat out the name, "Jacinthus..." That b*****d! What? He'd found out about Keilana and himself, a one time accident caused by the two of them drinking that hellish drink of hers, and now he meant to punish him by kidnapping one of his sisters?! Why? To bait him out? Was he thinking to avenge his sister? As though she were completely innocent in this he thought to himself, anger rising. Did she even tell that b*****d what had happened? Or did she lay all the blame at Chalcedony's feet so as not to upset her brother? First that archer b*****d took away Takoda from him and now he was toying with him by taking Isa as well? Gritting his teeth he looked in the direction that he knew Tale to be in. It was a place that he hadn't meant to go to again, there was nothing for him there was heartbreak, his stolen first love, and his first real big mistake that was caused by his one time run in with alcohol. Not a place he'd go without a lot of motivation and what better motivation was there but his sister?

What to do now... did he go home? Tell his family what was going on? Or did he just forge ahead? If he wasted too much time he would lose the trail and wherever it was that sister stealing archer got off too he wouldn't know. No, he didn't have time to go home, didn't have time to warn his family, there was only one thing that he could do and that was hurry after his sister in hopes of getting to her before the archer traumatized her overly much. She'd never been out of the trees before, never away from her parents, and most certainly she'd never left Jauhar before. Everything was going to be new and scary to her and the mere fact that the b*****d would do such a thing to poor little Isa... it did nothing but to enrage Chalcedony.

Checking what supplies he had in his bag the man knew he wasn't going to be able to make it nearly far enough, not with what little he had, and as such he forced himself to slow down, calm down, and think carefully before he moved. There was a lot that he needed to do in preparation and he had to do it as fast as possible. As such he moved at a dead run to the closest stream, filling up the two water skins he carried in his pack with fresh water, gathered what fruit he could from the low hanging branches of the trees, and then he was on his way, still moving at a fast pace in attempt to catch up with the one that had taken Isa. He was sure about who it was, all he had to do now was catch up with him and then beat his smug face in with his shield he thought to himself darkly. If Chal disliked Jacinthus before now the feeling had grown even more, to a simmering hatred, now that he was certain that it was the archer that had taken his little sister away from him as well as away from Jauhar.

The guard's emotions seemed to be roiling by the time he got to the border between Jauhar and Tale, but even then he didn't slow down. He wanted to find Isa, to bring her home, and before his mother made herself sick with worry over the safety of her youngest child. The very last thing he wanted was to see anything bad happen to anyone in his family and as such it was his duty to make sure that Isa got home safely and swiftly. All he needed down was to find the trail again he thought to himself as he searched the hot sands of Tale for a clue as to which direction Isa and her abductor were moving in.

Luckily for Chalcedony, a clue was soon to be spotted.

Though the two weren't visible on the Tale plains, they had left their print. The soft sand didn't hold footprints as well as Chalcedony could have hoped, but on the ground a few yards ahead of him, there was a glinting in the sand.

Upon closer inspection, it could be seen that the glint that would catch any eye out there in the plains was a large deep green bead, not unlike the size that Chalcedony wore on his own clothing.

In line with the bead, the sand seemed to split, forming a path into the distant trees, something that Chalcedony could follow with little difficulty. There appeared to be no sign of struggle there in the sand, perhaps Isa was still unharmed.

The path into the forest was slightly more difficult to follow, but the occasional snapping of the tall grasses near the trees told the way to the abductor.

As he reached the border between Tale and Jauhar, and even as he went into the other country, he couldn't help but to feel chilled despite the warm weather. Someone from this place had dared to come into Jauhar to take his sister away, someone daring, if stupid. Surely they must know that the kidnapping of a child wasn't something that was going to be taken lightly. Were they trying to start a war? Not that Chalcedony was going to allow anyone to end it if it were in fact the person he suspected had taken his sister. No, he would end it with a bang he thought to himself darkly, giving a pause in his steps and his ever darkening thoughts when he saw something in the sands just ahead of him glitter. Rushing forward he knelt down in the sand, scooping up a green bead, one he knew well, it was something that they all had on their clothing, a stone that their mother had always loved and seemed to put on all of the clothing she made for them.

Wrapping his hand tightly around the bead he leaned over to rest his forehead against it, letting out a shaky sound, "It will be alright, Isa, I am on my way." He murmured, a shiver going through him before he pushed up to his feet, tucking the bead away into his pack. His mother would want to put it back into place when he brought Isa home he thought to himself as he continued along, following a path that seemed to be quite difficult to keep up with, the winds of Tale seeming to want to bury it from view. Foot prints were impossible to find, already lost to the sands, but the bits of snapped off grasses, that he could find. He just had to keep moving, and fast, if he wanted to catch up with the one that had taken his sister away from their home.

The longer he trekked across the sands of Tale the more his temper started to rise, though it wasn't exactly visible upon his face. instead it was hidden, simmering under the surface, he didn't want to scare his sister after all when he found her. Best that he tried his best to keep his cool for as long as possible before he finally snapped he thought to himself, hand twitching slightly, tightening on the shield that he was carrying. As much as he had never wanted to put the battle skills he'd been honing to use against another person, having wanted to be a guardian but not one that looked for battles, he found himself wondering if he would be fighting soon enough despite his desire not to. No matter, even if he was the sort to hold back, even when it came to something he wanted such as Takoda, this would be different. He'd allowed Takoda to leave, not fighting for him after the Healer confessed his feelings were for the archer, not for Chal...

But this, this was different. Isa was different, Isa was just a little thing. She should be at home play, not getting dragged across Tale. Whoever took her was going to regret it because this time he wasn't going to give up and go home empty handed.

The path through the sands of Tale were leading Chalcedony into a pocket of forest. This particular pocket was large and could easily lead to being lost if one was not careful about where they were going and had been.

The sounds from the forest covered any chance of hearing a child or a man. But the grass didn't lie. The trick was knowing what was earthling tracks and what was poscuta. It would be difficult, but doable.

Surely Chalcedony's trek was coming closer to an end.

Deep in the forest, if Chalcedony traveled deep and long enough was a small recluse space of land uninhabited by earthlings or trees. This was where Chalcedony was heading and where the captor could be waiting.

The pocket of forest had Chalcedony giving pause, lifting his gaze to starring up at the tall trees, "Weird." He murmured, finding the way that sections of forest of forest seem to just rise forth from the sand odd. It wasn't like in Jauhar where there trees everywhere, no this was just sections of forest that was dropped about Tale in an arbitrary manner. He starred a moment before he took a step forward to lok at some more broken blades of grass, brushing his hand against them a moment, then looked closer, then sighed, "I think they came this way." He murmured, finding himself now having to battle with the trails of various forest dwelling creatures to keep on the trail that was going to lead him ever forward to where Isa was being held captive, "Damn creatures." He didn't normally have a problem with the poscuta but today he found himself disliking them if only because they were messing with the trail.

It took a little longer then he would like, with him following a few false trails, before he was able to get back on track, heading once more toward where he felt that Isa had been taken, deep in the strange pocket of trees, before he found himself stepping into a strange area that had nothing in it. The trees seeming as though they weren't wanting to cross a certain line and he could tell at a glance that none of the Earthlings went in here either, there were no trails. He shifted at the edge of the strange area before he stepped forward into the area, walking forward, looking from side to side, before he called out, "Isa! Isa can you hear me?" There was no reason sneaking at this point, there was no where to hide in this particular place, if they were here the kidnapper already knew that he had arrived. No reason to hide now.

Chalcedony waited for an answer from someone, anyone, but was greeted with the wind traveling through the surrounding trees.

From the opposite end of the forest, a man stepped out from the shadows. He was tall and lanky and from the leaf tribe. He looked at Chalcedony with a stern expression and pulled a pair of blades from their sheaths.

"Chalcedony. I know what you are after, and if you want her returned you'll have to face me first." His face was serious, but his eyes told a different story. His eyes spoke volumes of loyalty and mercy. This battle was not meant to maim or end in death, but would Chalcedony know the difference?

[The quest calls for a battle between Chalcedony and the stranger before him. The battle will play out as a normal battle, and can be chosen to contain no RP or simple and/or in-depth RP. Chalcedony will receive EXP at the end of the battle (in depth amount regardless of what form is chosen) and the quest RP will resume after a winner is decided.]

As the man stepped out from hiding, Isa no where in sight, Chalcedony froze in place for a moment... then he gave a slight hiss between his teeth as the man suddenly announced that he knew what Chalcedony was after, that if he wanted his sister back he would have to face him first. He gritted his teeth at that challenge. This sicko wanted a fight with him? He dragged Isa into this, so far from home, to get a battle from him? His grasp on his shield tightened before he lunged for the guy, "You sick b*****d!" He spat out, anger rising that much more. He didn't like this man, not at all. The man was a kidnapper, someone that was forcing him to fight to get his sister back, and who knew if he even meant to let either of them walk away from this place.

Either way he meant to fight his hardest and perhaps he would be able to convince this man to let Isa go. She deserved to be let go even if this foreigner wanted to finish him off. He had no idea why this person had it out for him, why he would go through so much to force him to leave home and come to Tale for battle, but none of that mattered. He was an enemy, someone that he had to fight if he ever wanted to see his sister again, and there was nothing else to think about other then that.

Rolled: 9 (+6) = 15, miss

Chalcedony recieves 0 dmg.

The man looked at Chalcedony with stern determination. Chalcedony was fuming and his anger could cloud his vision, but he was still an opponent and would be a tough match.

The man lifted his blades and attempted to strike out at Chalcedony, but his attack didn't take hold. He misjudged the space Chalcedony would leave after attacking and couldn't hit his mark from his position.

He re-assumed his stance and prepared himself for Chalcedony's next move.

The strangers attack, like that of Chalcedony himself, missed. It would have been a relief if he were really paying all that much attention to the potential danger. Given that he was almost certain that the stranger meant to kill him he really couldn't be bothered to think on the danger. Instead he had to think about trying to knock this one down. Maybe, if he were lucky, he could win against this man so that he could get Isa back. As he took another swing at the guy, another one that missed completely, he gave a bit of a grumble under his breath. It was a hard swing, one that gave a swishing sound as his shield moved through the air, but the fact that it missed completely bothered him, "Hn..." Come on, Chal, he told himself, focus! You will never win this battle if you allow him to rile you up this much!

Taking a couple steps back, taking a deep breath, trying to get his temper under control. He didn't like this guy, didn't like the fact that the Leaf Tribe seemed to be repeatedly taking things from him, but he couldn't let that blind him, could he? If he was blinded by his anger then he wouldn't very well be able to hit this guy, would he? Alright, focus... focus...

The man before Chalcedony couldn't seem to hold focus. He swung at his opponent with his blades but the attempt was weak and couldn't come close to contact with Chalcedony's shield in the way.

He steadied himself and prepared for Chalcedony's next attack, eventually someone would land a hit, and the man had a feeling that when it happened it would be massive. All the pent up frustration in Chalcedony's body looked like it was just getting ready to erupt.

Another miss... it was enough that it just frustrated Chalcedony that much more. How could he keep missing when this was something so important and yet in duels with those that didn't offer any threat to him he did just fine? It really was a frustrating sort of thing but he was going to keep trying, "You are going to give Isa back to me!" He told the other man as he moved to circle around him now, hoping to find an opening that he would be able to exploit. He had to find an opening, a weak spot, had to attack, and he had to at least slow the man down enough to allow Isa to escape even if he couldn't do so himself in the end.
