He should have been happy - today was a sunny day, pretty and peaceful, just like it should be. But Bedwyr was far from happy; in fact, he was miserable. He felt like the sun was mocking him with its giddy rays of light shining down on all the little creatures, who were getting ready to go out and play for the day of sunshine and rainbows. Rather than allow this, he took shelter in the shade of the forest, but his plan was short lived - he soon happened upon a clearing that seemed impossible to bypass without going through it. With a frustrated sigh, he stood there, glaring at it. Even though he was willing it away, it wasn't going anywhere. Of course it's not going anywhere, he thought bitterly. Somehow, his "mutual breakup" had turned out like an earthquake, worse as time went by, with aftershocks to boot. There was an edginess in his mind he'd never known before.
Sighing again, Bedwyr gave up: he knew he'd have to step into sunlight again someday, and it was too prevalent today to avoid it. Taking a couple steps into the clearing, he glanced around. It looked pretty much deserted and was brimming with yellow light. The light itself felt pleasantly warm on his teal-and-green hide, and he almost let himself revel in it; it was almost as if he hadn't felt the sun's warmth in months. He was just about to lay down when he decided against it - there was a reason he was avoiding light, and if he was going to be frustrated with the world, he was going to be frustrated with it in its entirety. Shaking his head, he began to make his way across the clearing. Why am I being so stubborn? he wondered. It felt almost as though he couldn't stop himself, like he was heading downstream in a river and had no way of getting out. Something had to give in his downward spiral sometime, right? Maybe today would be the day that it finally happened.Sorry if this sounds a little strange, it was pouring when I wrote it and I couldn't get over how ironic that was. XD

Someone at least was happy that it was a beautiful day..though most would be hard pressed to understand how such a vicious creature could find joy in anything beyond killing, but Ocelli did love her sunny days, and she was fair sprawled out in the grass, her wings spread wide as though she were a butterfly absorbing the heat so that it could fly.
She would turn every so often, rolling on the spot, moving to warm another side of her body, rubbing her head across the earth, scoring the ground with her short horns and yawning, the tiny but needle sharp fangs showing for a moment as did she so. Her tail lazily flicked, and her eyes half-closed, though it would be a foolish thought to believe that she wasn't paying attention to her surroundings as she sunbathed.
Her ears were constantly listening, and every so often she would take the time to sniff at the air, trying to detect anything beyond the scents of earth, grass and leaf that were all about her. It was one such occasion that she caught the edge of something that could be a warm-blooded creature, and so she sat up a little more, her eyes still half-lidded as she waited to see if the scent would become stronger.

Bedwyr had just set foot in the clearing when what he'd thought had been a boulder moved. Freezing as he eyed the blue-black mass across the way, he tried to identify it. It almost looked like a soquili, bathing in the sun... From the looks of it, a mare with wings. Oh, the fates are just blessing me today, Bedwyr thought bitterly. He'd met his fair share of mares with wings in his life, and seeing one today just about made him snap.
Approaching the offending soquili, Bedwyr scoffed at her. "Well, well, what do we have here?" he asked, looking her over from her horns - she had two of them?! - to her flicking, spade-ended tail and spiked bat wings. A small, almost inactive part of his brain (probably the sensible part) suddenly regretted his decision to approach her. Seeing her up close, this mare looked threatening and formidable... Not to mention, her dark markings looked almost eerie in the sunlight, in which she didn't seem to belong. But Bedwyr's bad mood undermined his subconscious's attempts to get him to safety. "Bathing in the sun, are we?" With no idea what kalona were and no idea just what he might be getting himself into, Bedwyr took the chance to survey his surroundings, just in case something bad came of his admittedly baiting attempts at conversation. My apologies for the slow response, school just kicked into high gear. >.<

One eye popped all the open, a crimson gaze running over the stallion standing above her, taking in everything about him in one quick glance. She saw it all; height, weight and the fact that he was a unicorn which meant a sharp horn as well as hooves. Not that anything she saw made her fearful, she was just weighing up should he attempt anything foolish.
'I am..' she said lazily, not bothering to stand as where she lay she could easily swipe at his legs with tail and wings without doing so. He was neither small, cute nor fluffy and therefore of no interest to her.
'I'm not sure what you're doing.' she said, continuing to enjoy the sun, without paying him much attention.

"Is it not obvious?" he replied, blue eyes flicking between the mare and her long tail. "Trying to start a fight." You're an idiot, you're an idiot, you're an idiot... his brain said, while he once again wondered what in the world he was doing. Sure, he was bored and emotionally wounded, but by the way he was acting, Bedwyr felt as though he had a craving for a death wish that he couldn't snap out of. He was so caught up in this little tirade that even his mouth was thinking before his brain could - "Why don't you get up and go a round with me, hm?" he taunted, stamping a hoof near her tail. Lowering his head slightly so that his horn shined threateningly in the sun, Bedwy felt his breathing hasten as adrenaline pumped through his veins. He'd never been in a fight before - not a real fight, anyway. As foals, he and his sister had pummeled away at each other, but he'd never felt the urgency that was now running through the front of his mind.
Somewhere deep in the back of his mind, the old stallion knew he was behaving irrationally, trying to 'get even' with Lavender by taking his revenge on this mare - though neither had done anything wrong. It was all a cacaphony of a mess sliding downhill, every relationship he thought he'd ever had, and he was ready to unleash his anger on the poor mare before him. "Come on," he said, pawing at the ground and twisting his mouth into an ugly smirk that didn't belong on his pearly whites. "Let's have at it. Surely you've got some good, old-fashioned frustrations that need to be taken care of, yes?"

Ocelli yawned again, nothing that the stallion said was either interesting, or aggressive enough to really rile her, not even enough to get up. She wiggled her lower jar, hearing it click, swishing her spade tipped tail near to his legs in a mild warning.
'Walk away.' she said, glancing up at him from under her the long fringe of her short mane, giving him a quick but hard stare. She was not a coward, she was just very comfortable, and this idiot stallion had obviously no idea what sort of Soquili she was. Or he was just a very large fool.
'One and only chance.'

Bedwyr almost balked when the mare behaved so coolly toward him, as though he were nothing but a fly she was threatening to swat with a tail flick. Fearing he might have deeply miscalculated, he took a semi-sure step back, but then covered it up with more (stupid, he thought) words. "What kind of offer is that?" he asked, eyeing the tail as it darted past his legs. It looked strangely muscular, and he wasn't sure whether he should watch out for it or not - his own tail had only ever swished like a cat's, and he'd hardly thought about weaponizing it. Or anything, for that matter. His horn was his only defense, and if he broke it, he was probably done-for.
"You don't think a good scuffle would be any fun at all, hm?" he asked, wondering if she might be taking him too seriously. He might have been hoping, somehow, that she'd think the whole thing was a big joke. With the distinct feeling that he'd just poked a sleeping giant with a stick, Bedwyr looked down at her with hard eyes. There was no way this could end well for him.

'The best and only one you're likely to get from one of my kind.' Ocelli replied. She really did want to keep sunbathing, but maybe..maybe she was just slightly hungry. She gave a little lick of her mouth, and then slowly got to her hooves, shaking out her wings as she did so.
Slowly, deliberately, she sized the stallion up again, seeing he had a weight advantage, and taking note of his horn once more, though to use it he would have to lower his head and he would be at a disadvantage visually when doing so. Her size would give a speed advantage, unless he was lighter on his hooves than he looked, but she could always take to the wing and harry him from the sky.
'A good fight is fun. So is one to the death. But do you really think you can offer the former? All I see is a talking corpse.'
