Mrs. Spectre had left the premises. Which meant that ********* and Anemone had the run of the house for a bit. However, one chubby little cat was a bit concerned about someone else who was left home.

After tending to her rumbling stomach, the cat was soon enough back in Ellie's bedroom and on the bed, staring intently at Ellie.

"....oh come on... wake up wake up wake up... wake up, Sleepy-Head!"

There was a vague grumble.

"...nooooo..."

"Oh hey, you are alive!" With a smile stretched upon her face, the cat turned to the doorway to call out quite loudly "HEY ANEMONE!! WE'VE GOT A LIVE ONE!!!"

Not that Anemone would totally get the saying.

A groan escaped the blonde in the bed. What it was in regards to was unknown for now, but there were plenty of possibilities.

The blonde didn't seem to want to lift her head, nor open her eyes. However, she was willing to open her eyes for both the cat and the newly approaching girl. Considering the events of the previous day, the blonde was pretty sure that the girl in the unicorn rainbow-puke hoodie was Psyche.

"...Anemone... that's her name?"

The cat looked back to the other girl, before circling over a spot on the bed to invite her to sit down on the bed as well.

The answer to Ellie's question was not an easy one though.

"...yes and no..."

"...what?" There was a pause before the groggy girl muttered "I ain't in the mood fer games... shoot straight with me!"

The cat sighed. This wasn't going to be easy. "...Psyche lost her memory."

"...what?!" Ellie groaned before she attempted to jerk herself into a slumped upright position. She gave the semi-introduced Anemone a hard look while she was up.

Ellie was not amused.

Then again, she also wasn't nearly as awake as she usually was, so she didn't look nearly as unamused as she could have.

"...observant... ain't she?"

********* let out a small purr to acknowledge Anemone's observation before she suddenly found herself face-to-face with Ellie (with Anemone's assistance). However, the girl's question got ********* to bust out a mildly panicked "Oh, no no no... you are Anemone. Anemone!"

The cat's ears momentarily pinned back before she turned back to Ellie. In a tired voice, the cat asked "...please call her Anemone right now... if you can... so she can get used to it..."

Ellie was just as tired, if not more so. "...okay... so she lost her memory. So... um... where did th'name come from? It's a mouthful..."

"...Well, she didn't have any ID on her, so we really don't know her name... but Lydia came up with that name."

"...ya couldn't have come up with somethin' easier?! Why not Annie instead?!"

********* sighed deeply before crawling into the silvery haired girl's lap. "...well, we aren't changing it now. It was already hard enough to get her to understand that she needs to go by that name right now."

Ellie shook her head before tiredly placing a hand upon Annie's shoulder, then extending her other hand to her. "Well... it's nice t'meet'cha... my name's Ellie!" She was tired, but she wasn't going to forget her manners.

********* was already inwardly kicking herself at the realization that Anemone shouldn't be learning English from Ellie of all people, who had a tendency to be as lazy as possible with enunciating. However, what could she do at this point. Tell Ellie to stop speaking until Anemone already knew English forwards and backwards?

Normally Ellie would have been the sort who would have snatched up the girl's hand from her shoulder and shook, insisting for a real greeting. However, it seemed less important at the moment, since she was still having quite a difficult time keeping herself upright.

"...ya guys come up with a last name fer her?"

"...no... I think we had enough on our hands last night just getting her a first name..."

Ellie's golden eyes looked into the girl's eyes. The tomboy didn't know of any of the things which had happened the evening before, but looking into Annie's gray eyes, she knew she felt a sort of connection with her. It wasn't the past life, but the present.

"...Her last name is Gray."

"...what?"

"It's Gray... you guys gave her the first name... I'm givin' her a last name that's easy..."

********* sniffed slightly. "...that feels like such a lazy last name to me..."

The tomboy's exhaustion seemed to be getting the better of her at the moment. She wasn't even aware of how her body was starting to lean forward. Soon enough her forehead was pressing against Annie's body.

"....okay... so... she's got a name now... but she obviously doesn't have a place t'stay... right?"

The cat was no idiot. She peered at Ellie before asking the most obvious question.

"...are you tired, Ellie?"

"....I f*ckin' hate this..." It wasn't a true blue solid response to ********* inquiry, but it was a decent hint that it was probably true that Ellie wasn't feeling up to par. She hadn't budged from Annie's petting fingers, which was probably another good clue that she was not feeling well.

"...maybe you should go back to sleep if you aren't feeling well..."

"...no... we're takin' care'a this sh*t right now, *********!" Ellie rather suddenly jerked her head up as best as she could to try to show she was still with it.

She looked to Annie, and in a determined tone asked her one thing.

"Can ya get the phone in my parents' bedroom?"

********* stayed silent for a moment before she decided to share a bit of information with Ellie.

"...by the way, Anemone's not a native English speaker... Greek is her first language..."

"...now you tell me..."

Perhaps most people in the modern age would have gone to the computer and done something similar to what ********* had done the evening before.

No, not Ellie.

Instead, Ellie turned to Annie, determination in her eyes, and held her hand, pressing in her pointer, middle, and ring fingers so her pinky and thumb would form a sort of "Y" shape. She put it to her ear as if she was miming herself being on the phone.

And then she ruined it by adding words.

"...'El Telefono!' Get me 'el telefono!'"

That cat didn't even attempt to stifle her laughter.

"...I am pretty sure that Spanish and Greek are not interchangeable, Ellie..."

"...shut up..."

There was a period of time where Annie had left the room. Ellie's eyes seemed to droop a bit, but she turned to the cat and mentioned something.

"...when I am feeling better, I need to have a chat with you..."

There was just a distinct seriousness to the blonde's tone that the cat couldn't help but wonder what Ellie would want to talk about. However, it had been implied that Ellie also was not feeling well (such was quite the oddity to hear from the tomboy herself). ********* decided to not push it aside from a simple, yet cheery "Can do!"

Eventually Annie came back and had quite a pile of crap she had brought with her. Scooting back slightly on the bed so the phones and phonebook weren't squishing her legs, the blonde sorted through them. She picked up one of the phones in particular and gave it a good look.

"...Ah sh*t... I totally thought we lost this one..." She pressed the button to turn it on, but the charge had clearly been drained by now. Her lips twisted slightly before she went for the one that was from her parents' bedroom.

She pressed the power button, dialed some numbers, and soon enough it was ringing on the other side. There were some things that had to be taken care of before anything.

"...Hey Hank... sorry I didn't come in today.......... Yeah... I know... I shoulda called....... I just had a really crappy night.......... and I ain't feelin' so hot....I think I might'a come down with somethin'.... sh*t... seriously... I'm sorry'bout that...I'm gonna need at least a few days t'get over this sh*t............. I'll tell him ya said 'hi'....thanks..."

Getting off the phone, she groaned a bit. "...okay... so... if I call my mom... I can like... try t'explain some sh*t t'her...maybe doin' a solid fer a friend's cousin from Greece or somethin'....?" With a shake of her head, she then turned to face the silvery haired girl.

Ellie distinctly pointed to the phone, then used her hand to make a thumbs up. That was a universal signal that Annie did a good job, right? "Thanks... ya got it right!"

The manx glanced to Anemone as she gave Ellie a thumbs up back. ********* was certain that the girl's understanding was limited, but even such simple interactions seemed to give the feline some hope that perhaps things weren't nearly as bad as they seemed. Perhaps Anemone would be able to integrate into her new life easier than the enormous task seemed.

The cat, however, easily poked a single hole into Ellie's story. "...which of your friends do your parents know of, but not know of well enough to call you out on that story?"

That, unfortunately, was a good point that the cat came up with. A pair of brows knit together briefly as she tried to pull some names from her already groggy brain that could work. Phil was a no-go since her dad could bother Hank and Hank would confirm Phil had no Greek cousins. Her parents knew both Jared and Zuniga pretty well as well since Ellie had been friends with them for years. Her teammates weren't a good scapegoat either, since her parents really didn't even know that Ellie had friends of the same sex now. Shocking her parents along with such a burden suddenly being tossed into their lap was probably not a good route to go.

Wait...

There was one friend that could work. She had tossed his name about casually a couple times now, so it was quite possible she could pull it off.

Lifting up a finger, she half-signaled for Annie to quiet down, and half-signaled she'd just be 1-moment. The tomboy punched some numbers into the phone and soon enough another half-conversation was had.

"...Hey Mom... yeah... I know I sound bad... I feel like sh*t........ No... I don't care 'bout the medicine in the cabinet... I'm callin' t'let ya know my friend's cousin is in town......... Hobbes...... yeah, th'pothead... anyways... his cousin is goin' through some sh*t... and well... she's without a place t'stay..............no, Hobbes' place is f*ckin' tiny... barely enough room for him............. Look, I'm doin' him a solid and she's stayin.... she doesn't speak much English... but I'll keep an eye on her........whatever..... talk to ya later......"

The cat edged slightly closer, looking up at the blonde curiously. "....she buy it?"

"....yeah...." She dumped the phone in her lap, then rather suddenly flopped back onto the bed. "...ain't got nothin' t'worry'bout now..."

The feline seemed to sense something was up with the blonde. Rather than linger too much longer, the feline proceeded to Anemone's ankles, rubbing up against them gently.

"...I think we should let Ellie rest... come on... we can look around the house some more!" After a few more rounds at the girl's ankles, she then proceeded towards the door again, looking back eagerly to Anemone to invite her to follow her.
