The teen watched as his pup splashed through the water, chuckling at his antics. He would have to groom the fluffy white thing later, but it was worth it, and it wasn't like he didn't have to do that anyways. Maybe he'd even splurge and take him to the groomers, it had been a while since he had done that, and Mythos always enjoyed it.
Or maybe he just enjoyed the treats he got afterwards.
The young dog was getting a little farther away than he liked, and he whistled, calling the dog back. The pup obeyed, running back through the water before coming over to Ian. "Good boy." He gave him a treat from his pocket, one of the homemade ones that he usually carried, and then poured him some water into a bowl. "Get a drink, and then you can go back and play."
Mythos woofed, licking the boy's hand before sticking his nose in the bowl. "Silly dog."

Dog parks were just a little bit messy and dirty for Lydia's tastes, but the dogs there more than made up for a bit of muss and fuss. It was important for dogs to be properly socialized, so she and Mariposa went out often when she was at home. During the school year, their jaunts were usually limited to weekends, and during the summer, she was busy with work. But that day Maize Maizier had closed early for a private party, and Lydia was given the night off. What better way to spend it than with her furry best friend?
The answer, of course, was with a bunch of other dogs as well!
As soon as they got there, the feisty Papillon took off to check out the crowd, and Lydia more sedately took a seat on one of the benches. There was another dog owner there, with an adorable while fluffball that she couldn't help but coo over. "What a sweetheart! Is he- or she- yours?"

Mythos finished drinking, and then looked up pleadingly at his human, standing up on his hind feet to beg for another dog treat.
Ian laughed, and patted his head. "What, you think you want one of these?" He held out a treat, and the pup proceeded to tilt his head. "Oh, all right. Sit!" The pup sat, and the teen gave the pup a treat, smiling at him, barely paying attention to the people around him.
Or at least he hadn't been until he was spoken to by a girl on a nearby bench. He grinned at the girl, and nodded. "Yeah, this little guy's mine." He hadn't seen the girl's dog, or if she had one at all, but he felt that it was safe to assume that she did. Most people didn't come to a dog park to socialize themselves. "His name's Mythos."

"Oh, what a lovely name!" Lydia exclaimed, leaning down to get a closer look at the dog in question. "I would assume, then, that you are fond of mythos? That is, myth, since I'm sure you're fond of this fine gentleman." She offered her hand for Mythos to sniff as she kept talking.
"It's really fascinating to look at the origins of myths in different cultures, as well as to see where they coincide and where they diverge. Most ancient cultures were polytheists, with multiple gods that they worshiped. The concept of having only one God is pretty modern in comparison."
A bit too late, she realized that she was rambling and sat up straight again, blushing. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to talk your ear off. Or yours," she added, addressing the dog. Sometimes it was easier to talk to animals than people. At the very least, they were less likely to care if someone embarrassed themselves.
