It was a warm night, one of the first since spring started, and it appeared that Super Sailor Denebola had yet to learn her lesson about patrolling alone. Since her last patrol, when she was ambushed by Captain Labyrinthite followed by General Sassolite, had ended with her being rescued by another senshi she knew it was not the best idea to be out alone. But she was a stubborn creature and was tired of feeling like she was constantly turning tail and hiding.

So there she was, walking briskly down the dimly lit streets of Destiny City.

Her instincts kept telling her to turn and head home, or at the very least seek out one of her few senshi friends to accompany her but she ignored it. She knew few senshi and the ones she knew best seemed to be on a leave of absence. Many had just...up and left with little two no words to her.

She had learned to not take it personally.

Everyone needed breaks after all.

She quickened her pace as her two-toned eyes swept across the pavement looking for any sign of trouble. She kept herself alert and waiting for any sort of energy signal to spike and reveal itself to her. Depending on the strength she was itching for interaction.

Ask and ye shall receive -- a blossom of chaos on her horizon that might be strong enough to catch her interest, and it would be followed by the distinctive sound of shattered glass. Down the block and around the corner, maybe, and Al-Janah was there.

The shop he stood outside of specialized in computer repairs, and had been closed for hours. The window had been smashed neatly with a fallen brick, which now sat amongst the broken shards and used computer equipment, the 'deal of the week' sign crumpled beside it.

If she ran, she could get there just in time to see a dark-clad figure disappear through the mess and inside, to spy the foot of a tall brown boot and the swish of red transparent overlay.

She heard the window shatter before she registered the muted energy signal's pulse. Her quick paced walk quickly transitioned into a sprint. Adrenaline got the better of her and she didn't register the muted dark mirror energy signal until she was standing just a few feet from the shop. Her eyes narrowed at the fleeting image of transparent red fabric.

She should have known that a powered individual was behind the break in. It didn't seem like many civilians wanted to risk causing a big scene with all those big bad terrorist flanking the city. Irritation was plain on her face as she skidded to a halt.

She stared at the shattered glass, hesitating. She still couldn't read Dark Mirror energy signals well, the muted signal was confusing. A moment passed, a beat, then she took off running into the store.

"You know," she said, stepping over broken glass. She slowed to a walk as she approached him. "There are so many things, better things, you could be doing beside being a petty thief."

Al-Janah was in the act of poking through equipment, of searching for the best -- but he looked up at the girl as she stepped through, taking in her costume with a brief sweep of yellow eyes, and then tossed the tumbled mess of his fallen mohawk back out of his face. She looked like she'd been running, and that made him smile.

"Thanks mom." It was amused more than anything, though, his posture shifting to something cocky. What else was new. It didn't matter how many fights came out even or that he lost. He was still ready for more.

"There are so many things you could be doing besides being a godawful nag and buzzkill."

She already didn't like this guy. It wasn't just the fact that he was an agent of chaos, he was a smart-a** and she couldn't help but roll her eyes at his juvenile comment. "How original," she remarked sarcastically, hand finding her hip and her head cocking sassily to the side. "Did you come up with that one yourself or did you steal it from a book like you're trying to steal those parts?"

A beat passed and she was moving forward, not too close yet though. She stayed a few yards back, mismatched eyes surveying the boy. Judging him. Weighing her options. Adrenaline was still coursing through her veins urging her to act quickly or lose the rush.

"Don't you have anything better to do or are you trying to build yourself a girlfriend?" She taunted, a sneer marring her pretty face. Denebola viewed herself as a champion of verbal battles and witting insults. While words were often her weapon of choice she didn't mind using her fist.

And boy was she itching for a fight.

Carelessly, Al-Janah kicked out a foot -- and, in the process, knocked over a row of computer towers, each collapsing onto the next and making them collapse into a long, crooked, crunching line. In all honesty, he'd only meant to knock over the one. For a moment, there was a flicker of surprise. Quickly, though, it melted to amusement.

That had been satisfying.

"Been there, done that." It was easy, amused, his eyes bright as he looked up to her. And only partly true. For one comp sci class in college, he had programmed a virtual game that let you talk to a girl, but calling it a girlfriend was --

"Now I'm building toys for my girlfriend. You object? What do you have against love?" He shifted slightly as he said it, one hand raised absently in a come-hither gesture. It was obvious where this was going.

"Or is that just jealousy I sense?"

If she seemed huffy already, it was only magnified by him knocking over the computer towers like a stack of dominoes. Seriously, this guy needed to knock it off. "Well, I doubt even toys would help you keep a girlfriend. Even one you built," she countered, eyes rolling in aggravation. "Can't call it love if you're forced to feel that way." Or programmed. Whatever.

If Al-Janah's goal was to push Denebola's buttons he was doing a damn good job.

"Oh please," she told him, stepping over a fallen tower. "Honey, you're no where near my type." She waved a hand to dismiss him. "But I might be willing to give you a parting kiss," she told him sarcastically, complete with a superficial wink. By kiss she meant punch, which became clear when she darted forward, fist aimed for his chin.

She'd hit, to his -- well. His utter lack of surprise. Al-Janah had, after all, been goading her into swinging for the fences, and when it happened, he went for the unexpected, leaning into it instead of away. It hurt like a b***h, the punch skidding across his cheek to slam into his ear instead, but it meant that he could reach out to grab the bows on the front of her fuku and sweep a leg around, even as his head spun with the aftereffects of the blow.

His plan was to get her on the floor, sprawled on her back, so they could get to the real scuffle, too close for anyone to think about crazy kicks. Somewhere beneficial for people unafraid to take a smack to the face, and unconcerned about hiding the damage.

He wanted to grin and say something clever, but his cheek ached too much. Maybe, if she went down, he'd be able to catch his breath enough to make up for it.

He leaned in and her mismatched eyes widened in mixture of confusion and surprise. Surprise left her vulnerable as her bow was yanked, her body jerking towards his as his ankle caught hers and she began to fall backwards. Surprise was replaced with irritation and her hand reached out, groping for whatever she would grab first. Her fingers found themselves entangled in the sheer fabric flowing in front of his bodice.

Her back hit the ground hard, air and a groan leaving her lips.

Her grip on his uniform loosened but never quite let go. Her eyes had closed, breathing had become labored and she remained like that for a moment. Two-colored eyes fluttered opened and her grip tightened when she tried to yank him towards her.

"Nice trick," she hissed, eyes narrowing. Her glare was enough to show she was pissed but her hiss emphasized it. She tried to rock her body, leg swinging to try and switch their positions.

She'd much rather be on top.

Al-Janah's goal had been to get them on the ground, so the real fighting could get started -- her fingers curled into the transparent front of his uniform, and his tangling their way into the transparent sash wrapped loosely around her waist. Of course, that had been his only goal, his only plan, with no thought for the next step. It meant that when the girl twisted, he'd twist with her, end up flat on his back with a pretty girl straddling his hips...

"Well, this could be going worse." It came out suggestive, snickering and complacent, even with his ear still ringing. He should have swung at her while he had the chance.

Of course he would make a smart a** comment about the situation they found themselves in. She rolled her eyes but couldn't bring herself to be more annoyed about the situation. "Typical boy," she muttered.

"It's about to get better," she told him complete with a half smile. She winked mockingly at him as she leaned forward. It was a trick however because she pulled up slightly, a fist poised and ready. She then threw said fist in the form of a punch right at his face. "For me anyway."

Tensing was a mistake, and he knew it, but -- well. When a fist was coming toward your face, it took nerves of steel not to tense up, not to flinch, and even having been in all kinds of scrapes in his life, nerves of steel were something Al-Janah lacked. So. He tensed. He twitched. And she hit him hard enough to leave his lip bloodied and swollen. His tongue flicked out to taste the blood.

In retaliation he bucked -- shifted -- twisted -- and swung for her sternum, working to knock her off of him and drive the breath out of her all at the same time. A blow designed to leave her gasping. "I don't mind it a bit rough, honey."

Denebola was unable to hide the grin that spread across her face when her fist made contact with his face. She wasn't one who took pleasure in violence (at least she liked to think that she wasn't) but when it came to beating negabaddies, well it was an exception. She was however, unprepared to deal with his sudden bucking of hips, the twist and hard slap against her sternum that resulted in her slamming back against the ground.

She groaned, head spinning. She propped herself up on her elbows, glaring at the dark mirror senshi. "Oh, sweetie. It's about to get real rough," she growled, kicking out at him.

This time, he was moving away from her, already hopping back out of her reach, and that meant that her kick swished across his chest, didn't hit quite hard enough to breathe. He shook his head out, struggled to keep his balance and his grin both, blinking down at her even as he took another two steps back.

Then he took things up just a notch.

"Janah Quarry!" He gestured skyward as he said it, hopping back again, and pointing down at her. Ahead, the ghostly hawk circled, marking out its quarry below, and did nothing.

Al-Janah hopped back another step. Trying to lure her after him, perhaps, out of the circle his summon was watching, to give it an opportunity to attack.

"Bring it."

Her blue and green eyes followed the shape of the ghostly bird. It was the first time she had witnessed senshi magic taking on a corporeal form and she was almost in awe. When it failed to swoop and attack her she returned her attention to the senshi skipping backwards. Her eyes narrowed, fingers curling into her fists.

"Was that supposed to impress me?" She asked, small shake of her head mixing with her words. "Because I've seen better tricks pulled out of a hat," she taunted springing forward. She decided, in the split second she chose to dash forward, that if was going to spring for his magic she would do the same.

"Dance of the dragonflies!" She cried her speed was amplified and very briefly she was a blur.
