It wasn't a new thing - Destiny City University Student Affairs tended to ask for volunteers biannually from the student body to go around to the local high schools. The gig involved free busing around town, free donut and coffee breakfast, free lunch, and a $10 voucher at any of the University subsidized cafes for dinner when they got back. Three square meals in a day, an excuse to talk to young, vibrant minds, and a scenic ride around was too much to pass up. Quenton signed up as soon as he saw the posting.

So he found himself happily in front of a class of 30 students at the Art Room, dirty from giving a lesson on lost-wax method while discussing the University Bachelors of Fine Arts majors. As usual, most asked questions primarily about the painting and figure classes. With the period at a break, he took the opportunity to pull off his apron and put t into a spare drawstring, shopping plastic bag and stuff it into his backpack. No longer restrained by the leather straps, his 'crocheted' wire lace necklace and pendant leaned out the opened buttons of his very faded button down before clinking lightly again off his collar bones when he stood straight again and started writing pertinent student registration emails and hours on the wipe board for anyone interested in learning more about the DCU art majors.

Hope you don't mind me replying to this. Sorry it's been so long. Got the courage to start peeking back in here. <3

A blissful tune was hummed from little Hirvio as he strolled along his schools hallways, which were filtering out with students from their classes to their lunch period. A few smiles were spared his way, and returned with much gusto from the high-spirited lad, who had a rather large mouthful of sandwich bulging in his cheek. He'd packed his lunch, like usual, and took the liberty of his free time to meander about at his leisure before heading outside to enjoy the pleasant weather!

However, as he was passing by one of the art rooms, taking a brief glance as he went by it, he noticed there was someone in there... and someone he'd not seen there before! Quickly back peddling, he peered in the doorway, long tresses of golden hair along one side spilling along to hang freely, chewing quietly on his food as he stared at the stranger. Who was that? A new teacher perhaps? After a few split seconds of his staring, he casually waltzed in, and took his place beside the gent, "Who are you?" he asked curiously, head tilting as he took another bite of his turkey sandwich.

The entry of a student into the art room wasn't alarming, and Quenton noted it without pausing in his task to make sure pertinent information was available on the board. Once that was done, though, he put down the expo marker on the eraser ledge and smiled over at the youth, "Quenton Marinus. I'm a guest speaker from the Student Affairs office over at Destiny City. There's probably a few others around the school to talk about other majors in the appropriate classrooms. I'm a studio arts major, so I'm here for the day to talk about the different arts programs the university offers. "

"You are? Were you going to be having an art class sometime today?" He didn't expect it would be the very next period, since the schedule thankfully left the art rooms open for lunch period and the period immediately following- students with full bellies had a tendency to sleep through whatever cam next and the regular arts teacher made it a point to schedule her study halls then in one of the regular rooms instead of the art lab.

thank you, and I appreciate your patience!

Staring up at the board, he slowly read along the stretched out information provided, mostly just idly until the adult would take notice to him. When he was acknowledged, a bright smile was beamed up at the man, as the bite from the sandwich was quickly swallowed to allow Hirvio to talk muffle free!

"Nice to meet you, Mr. Marinus!" he chirped in a gentle sing-songy tone, already enthralled by just that simple title that was given! All the different arts programs? And at the university too? that sounded like quite the big deal! While he wasn't fully educated on the numerous mediums of art out there, he sure as heck did know there were a large abundance. Perking up some as he was prompted in turn, his smile lifted just that tiny bit more, hands lowering to fold behind his rump, as he rocked a little on his heels, "I'm Hirvio Keytone! But you can call me Vi, if you'd like~" One hand raised to fiddle with a strand of his wavy locks, curling it around a single slender digit, "Yep! My art class is the last one, at the end of the day. Will you still be here then?"

Well, ...that is a unique name. Hirviö with the diaeresis is different than that...Finnish. I don't...well I've never met anyone from Finland to know if he looks Finnish or not. Doesn't that word mean 'creature' or some such? That would be rather mean of a parent to name their child 'creature'. "Hirvio. Vi...I've never heard of that name before. It rolls from the tongue well, though. Does it have a special meaning?"

"Oh, Yes. We'll all still be here through the last period. After that its a short ride back to campus. Which art discipline was that? I talked briefly with the teacher. She'd mentioned a few courses in pottery on the wheels, general techniques courses in 2d media explorations, some painting..?" Quenton trailed it off to allow the other to fill in whatever the actual answer was.

The compliment made the young boy brighten significantly, "Thank you!" he paused a moment, letting the strand of hair unfurl from his finger, "It means deer!" he replied in a sing songy tone. "What does your name mean?" he decided it might be polite to return the interest.

"I have the last class, painting!" he hummed blissfully, "Do you like painting, Mr. Marinus? or do you have another favorite subject in art?" Most folks he met had their favorites when it came to specific area's of expertise, even most of his teachers would express their favorite portions of lessons they'd teach! Perhaps this one did too.

Nothing so poetic even as an animal. Nor a virtue. He thought blandly to himself before answering, " Its from the Latin Quentīnus, a derivative of the Roman personal name Quintus, which is from the vocabulary word quintus.... all meaning 'the fifth'. But I have no siblings, so its about as applicable as calling the Earth flat."

"Parents pick names just based on liking them all the time, so there could be worse. I'm not saddled with 'Apple' or 'Moon Unit One', so its not so bad. "

He followed the subject along, though, to the energetic exclamations about what to expect in the last period of the school day. "I like painting, for what I have done of it. The freshmen core classes have many media explorations, so everyone gets to dabble and learn the basics of the most common materials like oil painting, gouache and watercolour. My own studies went into sculpture from there, my preferences being classical figural. Bronze, stone and wood. Clay or resin by necessity. "

"Do you like painting best so far? Have you tried other arts already?"
