It was getting warm that, despite how much of a popular area the park was for senshi and Negas alike, Wolframite couldn't help but go the park. If anything, the fresh air, sweet smells of flowers just planted by the city, and rustling tree blossoms would do him a world of good. It would almost ruin it if he had to smell blood today - almost.

What he did feel during his walk through the tulips was the hum of a energy signature not so defined as a senshi and one the general was starting to fix as that of knights. Very interested if Valhalla was about, Wolframite turned and headed over to the energy signature.

The costume he saw was far too vibrant and curvy to be that of the man's, and with a 'ahem' loud enough for her to hear, he stepped slowly towards her. "Out for a walk, knight?"

While Aventine had sensed a chaos signature, she hadn't realized how close it was until she heard a voice addressing her. Distractions were not often so consuming that you could miss a General approaching; she hastily spun, hiding her phone behind her and shoving it in some discrete pocket. Whoever she had been texting seemed to have had all of her attention, though she tried to play it off cool.

Because, talking to someone that strong definitely wasn't intimidating or anything.

The Squire combed her fingers through her hair, brushing it over her shoulder. "Oh. Yeah, I guess you could say that," she said, feigning nonchalance as she tried to calm her throbbing heart. Her flushed face was hint enough that she was embarrassed and that she'd gotten a fine adrenaline boost from his sudden appearance, though she still seemed intent to play it off. "The flowers are nice, I figured I'd take the time to enjoy the area. And what about you," she asked, a twinge of suspicion in her voice. "What are you up to?"

"Patrolling. Making sure the streets are safe, and I do like the park when the weather turns nice. I come here a lot." He walked, slowly as to not to spook her, and kept his hands at his side to show he had no weapon or tricks. He'd never met this knight yet, and he knew that most were suspicious of the Negaverse. He wasn't here to sour the perception of his side.

He moved to be a few feet from her. "I haven't met you yet. I'm General Wolframite. You are?"

There was something immensely intimidating about a General standing just a few feet in front of you. "Aventine," she said slowly, suddenly very concerned for her well being. "Squire. Of, you know. Venus." She gestured towards her outfit. "You know, if it wasn't obvious or anything."

She seemed a bit awkward—a bit hesitant and obviously fumbling for conversation. "Not that I'm saying it's obvious or—you know, insulting you for not knowing or anything, it's just. Pink, a lotta pink."

Aventine had to force herself to shut up before she made a complete fool out of herself. She cleared her throat, "So…what do you patrol for, ah, Wolframite? I mean, to make sure the streets are safe. No offense—again—but aren't you…supposed to be…you know, that bad guy?"

"I didn't know that the color of a knight's outfit had something to do with their planet. I've seen a lot of senshi and pink doesn't mean anything. I've seen a lot of pink." He said with a smile as he regarded her outfit.

"Patrolling means to see if the streets are safe from bad people. I don't know who tells you the Negaverse is the bad guy, but they are either lying or making themselves look better. I like to pick up the drug dealers and random trash that comes around here and spook them out of the park. They get treated a lesson to keep out." Sometimes with force and other times with the reward of a lot of energy orbs for his quota.

"Who told you the Negaverse was bad?" He asked as he stopped where he was, looking sweet and tame - hopefully.

Aventine watched the General warily, still; his distance proved to be a bit reassuring to her, as he hadn't invaded her personal space—and she was pretty sure she could outrun that tiny little guy if it came down to it.

Then again, she'd never faced a General; she had no idea what tricks he might be hiding up his sleeves.

"I guess it just came out that way," she said, straining to remember who first had told her how bad the Negaverse was. "Probably the same people who were fighting off some bloodthirsty youma. But, you know. I guess there were also the couple of them that like, attacked me. They seemed kinda bad."

She avoided adding that there had been a select few who had not been so absolutely awful, but she was so on the fence about the Negaverse and Chaos that she wasn't going to show more weakness and uncertainty than she already had.

"Some youma are feral. We try to keep them controlled, the wild ones, and most do not cause problems. I apologize if any created problems, but they aren't pets. They escape from their world and do as they please as even wild animals that you know do. In reality, most are very smart and tame, and I know a few who I like to call friends." Well, not so much friends as coworkers. Argwain was an exception. The youma had saved him a number of times and he was grateful to the youma for being his partner.

"They just do not like senshi becase they want to protect the planet and the Moon Queen hurt many of the people they loved. If you see those you loved murdered, you might get a bit angry seeing senshi on your planet, don't you think?" He said, stepping only 2 steps closer. He was testing her comfort levels.

Aventine was reluctant to admit that when he worded it like that it was was easy to agree with him. She didn't know much about youma—and kicked herself for not knowing more. Was it better to look like a dolt in front of the enemy or an ally?

She watched Wolframite as he approached, and while she didn't flinch away, she seemed to be very well aware of the distance between them and how quickly had shrunk. Still, the General wasn't threatening her, so she was giving him the benefit of the doubt—for now. As long as he stayed chatty, she didn't have a problem with him at all. "I guess so," she reluctantly replied, hoping it wasn't sacrilege to actually listen to these people. "So…what are the youma, exactly?" He had equated them to wild animals and, considering some of the more volatile ones she'd encountered, she could definitely believe that. But what about the smarter ones? The ones he could consider friends—the ones who moved like people, who understood things?

He smiled at her in an all-knowing way. "They are knights of Earth. Ancient guardians of protection, and my friends. Some are more wild than others, but they all have the best intentions at heart. To destroy a youma is to destroy a member of my family."
PostPosted: Sun May 26, 2013 11:01 pm

This seemed to unnerve Aventine a bit more than anything the General had said before. She had fought youma—destroyed youma. Nobody had said anything about them being knights. She felt a sudden pang of guilt reflecting on all the youma she had fought. Where they so unlike her, or…?

"That can't be true," she insisted, purely hopeful. She had no evidence that argued otherwise—it wasn't like any of the knights she has met gave her that much information on youma other than 'they are dangerous, make sure the civilians stay safe and protect yourself'…were they keeping things a secret from her or was this guy just pulling it all out of his a**?

"I've met Earth Knights," she insisted. "—Camelot? I met him. He wasn't a youma. He didn't say anything about the youma being his family." And by that logic, wouldn’t they be? Camelot was an Earth Knight, was there not to be some camaraderie between knights of all planets? "And for that matter—what are you that they're your family? Those things are just so blood thirsty, why would you want to be related to them? Unless you're looking for trouble."

"Senshi attack them. They only appear bloodthirsty because they are dfending themselves. I would appear bloodthirsty under another perspective if I attacked someone who was attacking someone I knew. Youma are not enemies. If they were wild and bloodthirsty, do you honestly think that the Negaverse would let them anywhere near us. I do treasure my other eye and don't want some wild animal tearing it out." He said, smiling at making his own odd joke.

"They are my family because they fight for the same things I fight, protect what I am also protecting, and work with by comrades. You can call someone family without blood between them after all." He said, smiling softly.

She seemed to have too much doubt, and so he debated a moment. He couldn't spend all night talking to a knight who might be brainwashed by others. If she felt youma were bad, then maybe the best way to convince her otherwise was to show her his. It was not a move that he could see being approved by his superiors, but Argawain was his partner and he rarely bothered him. It should be fine after all.

"I'll let you judge for yourself."

Taking a breath, he reached deep and sent out a request, waiting.

Then, with the shadows pulling around, a large figure rose behind the General. A low, deep, tired groan was heard as a suit of black armor rose up, a large lance in it's hands as it stood at attention beside Wolframite. The lance lowered, pointing at the knight, it's white eyes narrowing, but Wolframite set a hand on it and looked up at the youma.

"This is my partner, Argawain." He looked back to her. "A member of my family."

Aventine had intended to just stare at the General with as scrutinous a look as possible, but then he had to go and bring that thing over. Her pursed lips and raised brow shifted into an expression of forced stoicism; she tried not to look as unnerved as she felt.

She had never been around a tame or docile youma, and she strained to recall a youma that had not first attacked her or another. It was easier to remember them than she liked. While she could recall many youma that drew first blood, her encounters with them had made her quick to attack any youma she found.

The squire's eyes settled on the lance before she took in the sight of the rest of it. Her heart felt like it had lurched from her chest to her throat, though she attempted to make herself look as unfazed by it as possible. Which resulted in her just shrugging and smoothing out her blouse. "He's big."

A moment passed before she could think to say more. "What does he do?"

Aside from—what, skewer people? It didn’t look like he was going to be using that lance to flip pancakes, and with all that armor? He didn't look like most youma that she had seen, but she was willing to put a little faith into some actually being different.

As long as it didn't get her in trouble—or worse, hurt.

Wolframite was offended by her lack of reaction, and crossed his arms. "What does he do? He's not a toy that does tricks. He's a living thing. What do YOU do?" He said, asking a rhetorical question before looking up at Argawain and smiling. "He's my partner. He looks out for me."

The armored youma turned to regard the much smaller Negaverser before pointing it's lance at the knight. It let out a gruff noise.

Alarmed, the general moved over to touch the lance. "Whoa there. She's fine."

The youma made the noise again,a deep-throated, grunting noise that was a bit far from human. Something tired and worn.

Then, reaching out with it's gauntlet, it grabbed the General by the collar of his uniform and heaved him up under one arm like a sack of potatoes. It bellowed again, this time more loudly.

"What is you problem?!" He shouted, hitting a part of the armor plating to get Argawain's attention. The youma did not even bother looking at Wolframite as it pointed it's lance at the knight. Then, raising it's arm up with the lance, grunted once more and went to throw it's lance down upon Aventine like a mallet.

Argawain does not approve.

For what felt like a long moment, Aventine just stared at the youma. She had fully intended to make some snappy retort (not that one came to mind, anyway) but seemed instead a bit overwhelmed when the youma started moving.

She didn't want to think of it as anything but a tool. It was fine to want to destroy them if they were just monsters, but the moment she had to consider that they were real, living things…

That was the moment she didn't want to fight them.

When they could think for themselves, when they had a conscience…

Welp, actually—no, scratch that last one; when Argawain lifted Wolframite she took a step back, and when the lance was listed she scrambled to take a few more. "—Uh, yeah, what is going on here?" she asked, heart throbbing loudly in her ears as she stared at where the lance had hit the ground.

"—I don't…I don't think your little buddy likes me all that much, Wolframite. Did I say something wrong?"

…Was it rude to just bolt right now? The conversation with the General had been fine enough, but he hadn't been trying to pulverize her. She wasn't going to stick around if his youma wanted to.

Fear the might General!

This was BEYOND embarrassing! Never had Argawain acted like this. He was obedient, rarely acted on his own, and pretty much just stood their when there was nothing else asked of him. It seemed something had set him off, and the only thing Wolframite could image was the knight.

"He doesn't usually do this!" He tried to say as he turned a bit pink, glad that the knight wasn't smashed like a whack-a-mole by Argawain's lance. The youma was not your everyday variety youma and had grown in power to match that of the General's own. To kill a knight would not settle well with the Negaverser, mainly because she had done nothing wrong as of yet to warrant it.

With another groan, the youma knight prepared his lance once more only to have Wolframite glare up. "STOP!" He told him, to which the youma paused, regarded his partner under his arm, and made a swipe with his lance again. Argawain was not listening, and to make that clear, it used it's other hand to squeeze the General a bit more tightly to it's side to keep it in place.

So much for showing a well trained youma that was a friend and not a enemy!
