General debriefing: A team of dedicated individuals looking to write a magazine article about the island visited the area two weeks ago. Despite search and rescue attempts, none of them have made it back alive. They have noticed however, odd dolls shaped like the team hanging from the tree branches...
* C class difficulty level (must have a team of three, at least one of them must be an intermediate trainee) MECHANICS * MECHANICS: RP assembling a team, as necessary, before heading towards the Lighthouse portal to request a portal to Survey Mission 4D. Once there, roll a 100-sided dice and match the roleplay to the results below, as well as any reactions. Players can continue rolling until any of the players roll a INSANITY ENCOUNTER, in which case the BATTLE PHASE begins. See below for battle phase mechanics. 1- 20: The island is extremely foggy, the ground uneven and moist. You take a few steps in the soft soil until you hear a sudden crunch. You just stepped on the glass eye of a doll. 21 - 40: You notice that the dolls look to be in varying conditions, some with maggots curling out of them while others still look oddly new and untouched. All of the new ones are missing their eyes. 41 - 60: You notice a cabin deeper on the island. Inside is a small den, a few rooms, and a statue of a wolf head, creepily enough. The trap door in the center will not open but you can hear a music coming from underneath... 61 - 80: The wind begins to pick up, as the dolls begin to stir and move, as if with a life of their own. All seems okay until - you see a new addition to the lineup of dolls. Is that a doll of YOU? It is also missing its eyes. 81- 100: BOSS ENCOUNTER: - As you continue walking down you hear a large crack, followed by another. A strange gas explodes from underneath, making you extremely dizzy, as you cough to figure out what is going on, fighting for air now. You have exposed your entire team to a hallucinogen, making everything more terrifying than ever as your vision swims and hops uncontrollably and your hearing becomes muted. Something creaks, groans, lurches underneath you, but is that your imagination? - BOSS MECHANICS: This boss is a mob that has collective 100 HP. Every time you attack it (following the general battle rules), you TAKE 8 damage. AS you can't really see the boss, most of it will have to be dependent on what you can see, if anything at all, from strange faceless figures lurching, half-hopping towards you to the smiling dead coming back and swiping at you. Make sure to tally the boss's total HP (the damage you did to it) at the bottom of your post as well as your total HP and the damage you did that round. If the boss's HP hits 0, you have defeated it, and your team can now take the portal back. * 4 mission reward points for completing this successfully |

Despite being a full hunter with a specialization that mostly pertained to indoor activities- particularly the library- Ami still had to go on missions. She still had to stay fit, as monsters could attack at any moment. They were always in the back of her mind, lurking in the shadows. The threat of the monsters was eternal.
What better way to keep herself fit than to go investigate a mystery? Ami couldn't think of a better person to explore than with Kat, but unfortunately they would need a third person. Ami had been to this island before- it wasn't pretty. They'd need to work together with someone.
Everyone was busy it seemed. Lex had infirmary shifts, Tori working. Madeline, Ryan, Stormy, Leon- EVERYONE. There was someone on the bottom of her list though. Right next to Dakota's name, actually.
Ami preferred the cute, if not incredibly lazy girl over the pervert any day. Both girls received a text on their phone.

Lounging around in her usual haunt, Kat sat close to the window in cafeteria with her fifth coffee in hand. It was quite possibly the first time, in a long time, that the hunter actually had no immediate work to attend to. No shifts to cover, no reports to fill out, just a lot of free time to kill. If she had the patience, she could have brought a book to read or something. Anything would be better then just sitting her like she was.
It was too bad that everyone she had run into thus far were busy, had plans, or were just not around. She had previously stopped by at Ami's to see if she had free time, but she too was missing in action. At this point, she was about ready to ask one of her superiors for work.
Raising her mug to her lips, she sipped the half empty beverage when she received a text. Reaching, almost too quickly, for the phone, Kat's eyes nearly sparkled as she read the text. Ami! I ******** love you! Thank God, someone had something for her to do!
Chugging down her coffee, she sat the empty mug down and sprang for the exit.
Arriving, the sun hunter strolled up beside Ami, grinning from ear to ear. "Hey, Ami! Thanks for the invite! I was pretty much dead from boredom before you texted me. So, from what I saw in your text, another girl is joining us?" She asked, not yet having spotted Nevada.

"Kat, Nevada, Nevada, Kat," Ami introduced quickly, rolling her hands and gesturing to each of the girls in turn. She didn't really have the patience for anything more than that. "Glad you both could come, etc. etc. We're going to an island with creepy dolls, some writers have gone missing and that is pretty much all you need to know."
Ami almost stepped through the portal and then remembered something. "I've been once or twice now and we were attacked by shadow monsters both times. Be on your guard."
On that chipper note, Ami went through the portal.
The island was almost identical to the two she'd visited before. The same misty ambiance that Stephen King would've eaten up. The same creepy dolls, their beady eyes seeming to watch the hunters as they trespassed. "Stay together," Ami urged, giving a particularly specific stare at Nevada.
In they went, Ami searching a cabin. The wolf grossed her out- she didn't like taxonomy unless it was in a museum- but the trapdoor was interesting. Hadn't there been one like this last time? This one played music though. Ami, finding herself sufficiently creeped out, headed back to the doorway of the cabin. "Find anything?" |

Oh! This girl. She had seen her about the island a few times, but never really had gotten around to talking to her before now. "You have..?" She blinked, trying to recall having met the girl before, but came up with nothing. "Uh.. sorry, I don't remember.." She admitted, rubbing the back of her head. Of course, it would have helped if Circe hadn't wiped those memories, and her first encounter with Nevada clear. "You as well." Looking back to Ami, she gave the life hunter a slightly bigger grin. "Sure, glad to be of service." Though, the mention of dolls caused the hunter to lift a brow. Ah well..
Stepping through the portal with the two girls, Kat wrinkled her nose a little when taking in the scenery. Well, this place was a little.. creepy. "Yep." Like hell she was going to wander off on her own in this place and all these.. dolls.
Following Ami and Nevada, she paused a moment when the wind picked up, watching the dolls carefully. "Okay.. that was a little.." creepy. Shuddering she continued on only to pause when spotting a doll with an uncanny resemblance to herself. "Uh.. nothing yet. Unless mini me with one eye counts for anything..?" She answered Ami, still entranced by the doll.

Gladly! Like she wanted to drag that thing along with her - "What, really?" But.. it was creepy. If it wasn't one that had an uncanny resemblance to her, than she probably wouldn't care as much. But this thing.. "Uh.." Reaching down, she scooped the small doll into her hand, narrowing her eyes slightly. "This is so weird.." As if you add to the weirdness, moments later, Nevada was discovering her own mini twin. "Okay, this is just.. I don't even know.." Now all they needed was to find Ami's, and they would have the matching set!
Shuddering, she tucked the doll away in her pouch and moved to follow Ami and Nevada, but not before stepping on what appeared to be a glass doll eye. Scrunching up her nose, Kat ground the glass ball into the dirt. "Well, if I wasn't creeped out about dolls before, I certainly am now."

Finally, finally she snapped the trapdoor open with a loud crack of her foot. Before she realized her error, the area filled with gas. The gas she knew. s**t.
"HIT THE SHADOWS," was all she could croak out before the gas took over her senses. She knew this game- she'd experienced it before- but neither of the other girls new about it, to her knowledge. Hopefully they'd be okay.
Ami's hands kept the ground from smashing into her. She coughed harshly before weakly getting back on her feet. s**t. s**t this was bad. |
