          inside my head...
So I spend a lot of my time nerding out over Fantasy, a LOT of time. So over this time I've made up many little stories in my head, and many things about different people, different places. The world.
I want to use this space to note these things down. Because there's so much there...
Not to mention sharing it with other people. I want to progress it. I want to expand my thoughts.
If anyone has any ideas regarding this please message me to let me know. Or even join my roleplay that I've set up on Barton Towns.
If I get enough enthusiasm, I might set up a second roleplay on here... so let me know about it Via PM :3

          the people...
In every world, there are people. People from different places. People who believe in different things. Naturally, these differences cause arguments. Arguments that lead to the breaking of alliances or even war. But some people realise they aren't so different after all... and these become friends
              .
                  humans

The humans own a large, and slowly expanding empire. They are resourceful, and clever people. They can overcome almost any obstacle with ease. Their knowledge of magic, and their ability to understand machinery and technologies make them a very powerful foe. Fortunately, they are easy to make deals with. These deals are not always respected however. Like a double edged blade. Making a deal with a human doesn't mean he'll honour any promises he makes. They are often greedy, and spiteful. They can be nasty when they want to be, but generally understand how greatly they might suffer from following their sinful instincts.
They will only betray if they can see safety at the other end.

                  dwarves

Unlike a human, a Dwarf will never go back on his word. They are truthful and honest people, who live simply for honour. If they make a promise, they will take whatever means necessary to uphold their promise, and oaths are taken with pride. A dwarf who breaks an oath is outcast from society. His punishment is the shaving of his beard, for a beardless dwarf is no dwarf at all. Unless of course you are female. A dwarf who has broken an oath will be tattooed or branded with a cross, somewhere visible to all who approach the dwarf. Once this is done, you will never receive the respect from any dwarf, or anyone understanding of dwarven society. Oathbreakers will often seek their death, in the mightiest of fashions. Though not legally allowed to fight in the dwarven army (being deemed untrustworthy), they will fight battles of their own, alone, against foes far more powerful than themselves.
This has lead the humans and the dwarves to quarrel over many things, and the dwarves to hold a life-long grudge. Humans believe Dwarves to be too hard on themselves. The Dwarves see the Humans as weak. They expect little from the humans, and insult traitors by the word "Humgri" which literally means "Human-like".

                  elves

The elves are the most ancient of people, mysterious and majestic. They live in the valleys and forests, close to nature, almost one with it. They like running water, and see it as the blood flow of the earth, their life bringer. They will protect the planet, and live in harmony with it, using natural methods to harvest and build. Here is where they argue with Dwarves, and occasionally the humans. Machinery is not the elven norm, and is somewhat frowned against. Although, the use of metals for weapons in not a taboo. This somewhat hypocritical look on life has lead to many arguments with the dwarves over the ages.

                  drow

Many believe the Drow to have originated from Elves, turned to the darkness by greed and hate. Truth is, no one really knows. The Drow are dark elf-like people who live below ground. Their kingdom stretching far below the realms of humans and elves. These underground caverns are their home, and hold many great cities.
The Drow have never seen much arguments with anyone, but ancient tales tell of a civil war between elves that split them into Drow and Elves. This however is but a legend, and nothing remains as fact. All there is to run off is the mysterious similarities between the two, yet the differences which keep them apart.
A Drow is generally not to be trusted. They have a harsh civilization, in which you reach the top through glory. Those who prove themselves are allowed to rule. There is no blood lines. No hierarchy, just experienced warriors, and heroes who lead. Those who do not obtain glory, generally find work as petty thieves, or assassins. The children of the night find it no trouble to blend with the darkness, and to navigate through it.

                  greenskins

Strange folk who live in the forests generally fall under the title of "greenskins". The race is split in two, the strong and gormless Orcs, and the small and witty Goblins. The locations of their holds is unknown, lost in the north-eastern forests. Their most famous, (and most well hidden) being that of Frongalgaz. The mushroom forest, where the most powerful of Goblin shaman live.
The Goblins invented their own magic form, around an age ago. The ability to bend reality with imagination. However, this discovery was only made possible by the narcotics the goblins are able to grow, in secret. Some hold ban such substances, but generally, many are unknown to humans, dwarves or elven folk at all.
The Orcs however have no magical abilities. They appear as gormless and stupid as a troll, but hide an ability with machines. Many spend their time tinkering with long lost dwarven artifacts, though their ability goes unspoken. Mainly die to their lack of communications. Orcish tinkering can either work out fantastically, or a complete mess. They like things that go bang, and things that cause mass destruction. Often, things that aren't too easy to control.

          the drow kingdom...
              Children of the Night
              .
                  appearance

Drow have dark skin and light hair. Their eyes are large and red. They are thin, almost bone like. They are not as tall as humans, most being about 5'6" for a fully grown male. The females are only lightly shorter. They have long, pointed ears. Longer than an elf's. This almost exaggerated appearance makes for excellent hunters, their finely tuned senses help them hunt almost any prey.
A Drow will live until it is around 500 years old, but it's appearance does not change greatly. Drow males may start to grow a beard at about 300 years old, which they do not shave off. Similarly to the Dwarves, they see this as a sign of wisdom, and will grow their wispy little goatees.

                  politics

In the Drow civilization, you make it to the top by being the best. You must first make your name before you are given a title. Those who make their superiors proud are promoted. Those who fight well. Those who make themselves known for good reasons. The army is not made up of warriors, but hunters who take down foes from the shadows. Stealthy rogues who are never seen by victims. By the time you know they're there, you're dead.
The Vel'hrn are well know assassins, working purely for the government. A high ranking Vel'hrn officer will more than likely hold a place in the High Council.
Non-fighting counselors are rare, but not unheard of. Those who make their name through trade and riches may often find a place there, discussing trade and economy with the "war-chiefs"

                  war history

Many stories have been told about the Drow, that a great civil war among elves drove their darker side underground into hiding. The great war of darkness has no proof, or remnants of it ever happening. But it does offer an explanation to the similarities between Drow and Elves. This is why both races are often referred to collectively as "Elven-folk"
Truthfully, no one knows if this war took place, and the Drow have never truely been considered "Evil". They are humble people, who tend to mind their own business. Shadows do not hurt you. The only time a Drow will raise his or her weapon is if provoked, or the pay is high enough.
One War did change the Drow, making them slightly less accepting of people. Over a century ago, a war began between humans and elves. Soon the Drow were reeled in, and the horrors still haunt them today.

                  their home

The drow make their homes underground, in huge natural caverns deep below the surface. Here there are great many buildings, built into the walls. The features of the buildings are extremely gothic in design, and tend to be built from dark grey stone. The biggest city is named MYTH MORNEDHIL, after the elven words for "City of Darkness". The cavern which holds the city is so incredibly huge, the ceiling is distant enough to disappear into darkness. Shadows cover the city, and though perfectly comfortable and homely to a Drow, many over races feel uncomfortable in the darkness.
The Drow use everything they can find, but make sure it looks pretty first. To light their dark home, their use a glowing mushroom "Kuttra". The Kuttra mushroom glows and eerie green, which can illuminate whole caverns. A great many of these are grown along the streets of Myth Mornedhil, giving a shadowy light. Though the ceiling is not illuminated, simply appearing as if it were a starless sky.

li'xin'drassa are underground gardens, which the Drow grow fruits and vegetables. A crack in the ground above will let sunlight through to the caverns below. After years of dwarven alliances, the Drow learned dwarven methods in technologies to direct light underground, and enhance it using glass and mirrors. With the added minerals that are stored underground, the Drow gardens became a huge success, and grow all varieties of vegetables. These gardens are however few, and most Drow diets are built of the harmless mushrooms that grow around the cities. Unlike the Greenskin mushrooms, these are simply for cooking purposes.

                  allies and enemies

The Drow have found an alliance with the Dwarves, sharing their homes underground, as well as a common enemy. The Drow and Dwarves often spend time fighting Chaos, as it rises from below. Helping on another out, a friendship has formed between the two, and business has blossomed across the underground trade routes.
Another ally, despite legend, is the Elves. Despite legends of war between the two, and the possibility of them not being the same, but are. The Drow and Elves settled their quarrels a century ago when the humans started war with the elves. One the Drow wound up involved, they allied with the elves for safety and security. The two call one another "kin", as legend says they are.
Humans however are not a friend to the Drow. the Drow despise them, and will rarely deal with them. The war was not their battle, yet the humans attacked the Drow. A drow will hold it's grudge against humans, and many still remember the war. The humans have passed two generations since, but they still feel it may happen again, despite the treaties made by the humans.
Anyone who disturbs their harmony will meet the tips of poisoned arrows.
