Well I started recently painting my rhino and I found that the brush is not doing as good a job as i thought it would... any advice?

What exactly is your brush not doing?

In general, when working with vehicles it helps to use colour primers or an airbrush (or the Citadel spray gun) for your primary colours.

I also think Keeley is hinting at the use of a bigger brush, likely the tank brush, which is no longer in production. gonk

That might be your issue, the small size of the brush. I would use at least a 1/2 inch brush for tank painting, at least the bottom layer.

On that note, did you spray-prime a layer before starting in with the brush?

That might be your issue, the small size of the brush. I would use at least a 1/2 inch brush for tank painting, at least the bottom layer.

I did with me old P3 black primer!

We all have our favorite brushes. Find a set/brand of brushes and experiment. If you've just started painting and you're working on a base layer, spray-paint the base coat with a paint/primer. It takes most of the work out of painting for you. smile I spraypaint everything black before painting wink After I strip the paint off of DE's old Rhino (I stole it from him biggrin ), I'm going to try black matt biggrin

Straight up, the best recommendation anyone can make is buy spray cans of the colours you want and do it with that.

Though I realise this isn't always viable.

The next best tip is to water your paints down to just the point where they'll still stick. It'll take about five coats at this but it'll give you a very nice cover once you're done. It also may even save you on time because you're not spending all the time trying to smooth out streaks or clogged areas.
