She'd so been hoping that Dr. H would just order Gale to help her. It would've made things much easier. Far fewer ties to clean up, much simpler communication.
Now it came down to a matter of bribery and favors. After all, Gale wouldn't willingly take on extra work- would he? Ami doubted it. She knew if another hunter asked her to do twice the workload, she'd never take it. It was suicide in a society where the workload was already too tremendous to bear.
She hadn't prepared anything specific, but she had a few treats in mind for Gale. Maybe fancy tea or something. She'd work it out.
"Gale I have a request," she announced, strolling into the room he was in at the moment. "And it has nothing to do with your voice nor Mark nor Caelius."

Gale, sitting in one of the smaller and lesser used offices in the Death department, swiveled around in the rolling chair he was currently occupying, a pair of reading glasses perched at the end of his nose as he surveyed a stack of documents.
"Ami?" he said, glancing up at the sound of her voice. "Hey. Er..."
A short pause.
"O...kay?" Gale waved at the chair beside him. "Shoot."

Ami's face softened if only a fraction of an inch as Gale spoke. He was just so cute in his little professional chair and official air. Secretly she wished that if she ever had a kid, he would turn out as polite and well-mannered as gale.
"I don't like beating around the bush, so the basic gist is this; I am breaking in to the National Library of Sweden to steal a codex that is invaluable for my research." Well if that didn't rope him in, nothing would Ami. "I need a death back at the base tracking our location and feeding us intel."
She gave a direct look at Gale as if to say that's you.

There was a long moment of silence in which Gale just stared at Ami with his glasses still perched on the end of his pale nose. Then -
"Okay," said Gale, and shrugged.
"I'm in."

Ami stared somewhat blankly at Gale, blinking in utter confusion. Absolute and complete bewilderment.
He didn't ask for a reward? No payment? The idea that a hunter could do something so willingly was just unheard of. Especially between life and death hunters. Ami couldn't count the number of times on her fingers that she'd had to bargain away small tidbits of information- it was that dog-eat-dog.
She opened her mouth to object and immediately shut it when realized that was absolutely absurd. Positively bonkers. Why would she demand to pay him when he was clearly willing to work for free? Ami wasn't kindhearted, wasn't open palmed. If a hunter wanted to do her bidding, so be it.
"Right. Well then. What equipment did you need?" A pause. "Material and otherwise."
< This is going way better than expected dude! >
For once I must say I'm as surprised as you.

Ami raised an eyebrow. She was madly in love with the adorable Gale, but you couldn't pull the wool that far over her eyes.
"You're not that valuable," she said bluntly. "I can ask Otto or ... Eva perhaps?"

Gale just gave her a blank look.
"Otto sucks and Eva's too busy," he said serenely. But then he couldn't keep a straight face and grinned at her, tapping the pen against his cheek.
"I'm kidding. I'll just need a couple of headsets, and Mark's tablet, which I already have. So you'd be going and I'd be staying here holding the fort, making sure everything's good?"

An irked look flashed on her face as he denounced Otto. Otto was her baby, you don't just say someone's baby sucks Gale.
"Headsets I can do. Dwight might be a little finicky- so far the only thing he's suggested is boatcars and shoephones," she said with a sigh, pulling her braid forward and tugging it nervously. Dwight was mostly living up his own female!Bond fantasies at this point. She'd make it work.
She nodded to his summary and said, "Yes, you'll be surveillance and intel. A map really, telling us where to go and what to look out for." It really wasn't a terribly difficult job, but it was undeniably an important one. "And manpower? Do you need anyone to help you?"

Gale rolled his eyes. "Meanwhile in the Death department, Mark is focused on Miniskirt Mondays and superhero shoes." A long sigh escaped his lips. "What a couple of prats."
Her last question made him pause some, Gale tapping his chin thoughtfully. "Probably," he said. "I think it'd be nice to have one or two of the newer trainees to assist..."

Ami cringed at the idea of both miniskirts (she preferred a somewhat modest length, thank you very much) and superhero shoes. She was beginning to wonder how Dwight and Mark had managed to secure high-level positions at Deus Ex.
"Hm. The Doctor only gave me clearance for 3 trainees, but I'll see what I can do for you."
A sideeye glance to Gale. "You're certain you're okay with all of this?"

He gave her a smile, genuine this time. "Yeah, I'm okay with this. I like to be of use, and, well...you're a friend...er, I like to think," he added, flushing a little, though the smile remained in place.
"At any rate," Gale waved a gloved hand. "Just let me know when you need me, and I'll be there pronto."
