Arden leaned intently over the table he was working at. A strange glowing globe sat on it and inside light seemed to flicker across it. He looked sort of funny holding his scarf across his eyes, but in truth he was using it as a shield as he soldered a connection on the board in front of him. Once he was done he lowered the scarf and looked at the work in front of him.

So far so good, but still a lot to be done. He took a moment to stretch and look around, and considered taking a break for a while.

Having followed directions from his friend, Strel finally arrived at Arden's residence. He was most certainly excited to see his friend again, and entered, looking around the workshop. The glow of the orb was intriguing, and he had to wonder if perhaps he had succeeded in his efforts of capturing lightning, and came up next to him, grinning ear to ear.

"Hey! Did you get it to work?" He asked, voice excited.

Having not heard Strel enter, Arden jumped slightly then turned and smiled. "Startled me there." he then nodded and pushed the orb closer so the other could inspect it. "Sort of, took a lot more work than I thought it would, and it has to be charged up more than I thought too. I got this the other night in that big storm, and it'll only last another few days before I have to wait around for another." he said sort of disappointed. "But I suppose I should be glad that it does in fact work and didn't shatter, which was a fear of mine."

He looked around the workshop and then pulled over a stool and moved a box off the top of it. He patted the top which gave out a puff of dust but then indicated Strel towards it. "Have a seat, as long as you don't mind the dust anyway. Afraid it's hard to keep anything clean in here for long."

I apologize I was out of town until yesterday, and every time I tried to go to the computer, either the baby wanted attention or the hubby stole it lol.

Having been startled by Arden being startled, he too jumped a little, but laughed it off quietly, smiling as he inched a little closer, looking over the orb. "Oh, the big one? I remember that one." It had been magnificent, the symphony it created. Loud, brash, like a whole battle going on over the ground. He was still learning how to write music, so he had gotten a start on it, though he had yet to complete just one instrument. "So now that you know it works......You can make it even better, right?" Strel was absolutely thrilled that the idea had worked, and was even more so happy to see his friend had also grown up.

"Dust isn't a bother, believe me." He nodded, taking a seat on the stool, perching his feet up on the rim near the bottom, tail flicking back and forth.

"That is the theory at least." He said with a chuckle. "I'm not exactly sure yet how to improve it, maybe a better type of glass for the orb might help. I'll have to talk to my grandfather, who can either make or at least direct me towards a better material. He's got access to all sorts of stuff that most people can't get a hold off." he then put his finger to his lips and made a 'shhh'ing' sound. "But that's a secret." he said with a wink.

He watched Strel take a seat and admired the grace his friend had. While not as clumsy as his parents, Arden was far from graceful and it was a quality he admired in other people. "You grew nicely into yourself." he said teasingly. "How's the music treating you though?" he asked, wondering if the music that had seemed to plague Strel as a kit had reached a manageable level in his adulthood.

"Oh, good connections? It's always good to find some friends in high places, though I haven't made any yet...To my knowledge at least." He nodded, smiling back. "And don't worry! My lips are sealed!" He mimicked the motion, chuckling a little to himself.

"You did too! And it's really good to see you're still pursuing your dreams. I need to really get on that for myself, come to think of it." He rubbed the back of his neck slightly, musing in thought for a moment. "Ah, it's been a battle. Sometimes it's more of a curse than others. I kind of had a run in with the hospital a while back. It just got too intense at one point, and...well...you know..." He shrugged it off, "But now I'm being more careful, and things are going far better."

"They aren't always what they're cracked up to be though, and there can be prices to pay for having said connections." Arden said with a sigh. He knew that while his family and his relatives had led mostly peaceful lives it hadn't been that way for his grandfather who still had old battle scars both of the physical and mental variety. "Better to stay under the radar sometimes I think." Arden said.

Arden frowned at the fact Strel had ended up in the hospital due to his music. "I"m sorry..." he said quietly and slowly reached out and pat the other males paw. "I wish I could help." he said honestly. It seemed unfair that someone like Strel had to live with what could be a tortureous gift. He'd always seemed sweet and kind to Arden and he didn't want to see anything bad happen to him.

Arden paused and bit the inside of his mouth as he thought. He tapped one finger on the work table and was tempted to nibble on the edge of his scarf as he sometimes did when he was thinking, but resisted the urge. "Wait a tick...Maybe I have something..." he said bouncing off this stool and going to a shelf and rummaging through it. "I remember, when we were kids and we talked about making music boxes." he said getting excited all of a sudden. "And I liked the idea so much, I actually made one!" he said. "I had forgotten, got a little caught up with the lightening orbs and all." He turned around and presented a rather elaborate looking box with metal instruments on the top of it. "You see you wind it up with this key," he explained setting the box down on the table and pointing out the features to Strel. "And the spool that has the melody turns and controls the battery powered sound chips inside that replicate the sounds of the instruments on top, which actually move." He said proud of that little feature. He then pushed the box towards Stel. "Only thing is...it doesn't have a song to play."

Strel nodded, listening quietly to Arden talk about his grandfather. "I'll keep that in mind if I ever have to deal with some of my own as well. I'm sure I'll have some kind of problem when I finally get my name out there as well. If that ever happens that is."

"I've gotten a lot better since. And now I know what to be careful of! It's kind of my own fault for not taking good care of myself, so I deserved it." He laughed it off a little. "I'll be fine, don't worry. Plus if something does happen, I have you here to help me, right?" He smiled even more, brightening up.

Strel watched him move, sitting up just a little straighter to see what he was rummaging through, curious what his friend was looking for. "Yeah!" He nodded, knowing immediately where it was going. Oh gosh, he hadn't yet made up a melody for one yet! Now he'd have to, it seemed, not that he'd have any trouble making one up. He only had to write what he heard, after all. Watching Arden point out the tiny little mechanisms was extremely interesting, especially when he got to the spool. He smiled, taking it to look at himself. "And that's where I come in huh? What kind of song were you thinking? Rain? Sun? Grass?" He named off a few, though he already knew what he was going to choose.

"Of course I'll be there to help any time you need me." Arden said with a soft smile. "All you have to do is ask."

He looked down at the music box and considered the options Strel presented. "Whatever you think is best really. I'm just the grunt, you're the music maker." he said teasingly. He ran a finger over the top of the box and along the edge of the drum. "Whatever you decide I'm sure will be beautiful." he glanced over at the other male and hesitated before adding. "And so will everyone after this one, that is, if you want to make anymore. I admit I have ideas for box designs, they just need a voice."

He blushed and turned his head to cough and the fact he was blushing. He wasn't exactly sure why he he was, just that for some reason the other male had stirred up that sort of reaction from him.

Strel smiled, looking down at his feet. At least there was another person he could rely on, especially when he didn't want his family prying in to certain things. "You're a great friend to have." He murmured, swinging his legs back and forth as he sat on the stool.

Whatever you think best....This went better than he thought. With a slight smile, he leaned forward a little, getting a better look. "I think I know what I want for this one." He began, following Arden's finger with his eyes. "Maybe I should make it the song you have. There's only one other person I've ever met who can hear songs like that, and it's been a long time...But this one, for sure, will be one of a kind. I wouldn't want anyone else to have it but you."

He was slightly concerned about his friend coughing, though considered with the dust and other things about, it was perfectly viable that it would happen, even with a scarf to help block the dust. "You okay?" He asks, checking up on him.

Arden looked back and hoped his tan complexion would hide any lingering traces of pink. "I'm fine." he said with a nod. "Just got something caught in my throat." that sounded lame even to him but he couldn't think of a better excuse.

He smiled again and couldn't help himself as he reached over and patted Strel's hand. "So are you. You're fun, you're smart, in short you're amazing." he realized after that left his mouth that he might have overstepped a boundary and casually tried to pull his hand away. He mentally scolded himself to get it together and stop acting like a twit.

He blinked at the fact Strel wanted him to keep the box, he'd intended to give it to Stel when it was finished, a sort of milestone, saying that here was a way to get the music out, to confine it somewhere else instead of bottling it all up until it drove him mad. He gave a half smile and nodded instead of saying any of that. "I'd be honored to keep the first one." he said.

"You should be careful...Maybe a glass of water would help? Or having a water bottle in here somewhere with all this dust..." He frowned, absolutely concerned that maybe he'd choke on the dust one of these days....Strel knew he might, at the very least. Especially when they needed to work on things so important, like these music boxes.

That being said, he wasn't exactly unhappy about the touch of Arden's hand against his, in fact, he smiled a little more. "I wouldn't say all those things, but if you insist I suppose they could be true.." His cheeks flushed the slightest, and he met Arden's eyes for a few seconds before bashfully glancing away. "I can't do this without you...Thank you." He frowned a little, slightly disappointed as he took his hand away. Strel wasn't going to stop his dear friend from doing so it he felt uncomfortable about it, that would be rude.

"I'll make sure it comes out great. Though, you already have a really good song...It's already so beautiful." If Arden could get away with a few compliments, then he could too, right?

"Thanks." He fidgeted. "And I know I should. But there is a hose just outside that you can grab a drink out of." he chewed on the inside of his mouth and wondered what to say. Should he as Strel for future box ideas? Or maybe get some fresh air. That sounded like a good idea. It was a little warm in here.

"Maybe wanna grab a drink outside?" he asked. "It's a little warm and all in here." he said. "Or it could just be me." he said with a smile. He then paused, was there too much double meaning in that. "Or maybe it's you." He blurted out. "I'm just saying you look a little warm is all...you're warm...hot...cute...I really think you're cute. I mean what!" he said in a rush eyes going wide. "You can ignore that if you want." he said blushing scarlet.

"This whole place seems like it could use a little watering down at some point." He hummed, watching his own fingers as he fussed slightly with them. "I'm sure if we worked together, we could get it a lot less dusty pretty quickly. It's never a bad idea to keep your workplace clean."

"Yeah, I wouldn't mind. It is just the slightest bit warm..." He laughed, rubbing the back of his neck. He glanced up at Arden in slight confusion when he began to ramble, unable to help but smile the slightest as his own cheeks flushed red. "No, no it's...It's quite fine really." He laughed a little, shifting in his chair as he got up. "But...You think I'm cute?" He couldn't help but feel the slightest bit thrilled about it, a bit of the excitement leaking into his voice.

Arden nodded sheepishly and kept glancing up from where his eyes had drifted down to the edge of his scarf. "Yeah...I do...I have for awhile...you're just so...I just wanna...take care of you, and you're just adorable when you're happy and I just wanna see more of that." he shuffled and swallowed trying to make his brain string together coherent sentences again.

He motioned towards the door and slid past Strel brushing against him not quite on purpose. "Sorry, anyway, bout that drink...and fresh air out of the dust and all." he coughed and stepped outside turning on the spigot letting the water get cold. "And it probably wouldn't hurt to dust off the old place." he thought for a moment. "I think there's another window in there too, it's just covered over and probably dusty beyond all get out."
