(( This RP is open for everyone, not just the squires or required players. This RP marks the beginning of events that will lead the island to war. There is no posting order, but please be respectful of all participants and not assume their Pae'il is ignoring your Pae'il if they don't reply right away. ))
On the Western edge of Loka Nei Forest, just under the rocky cliffs of To'ul Mountain, not too far North from the jungle-covered ruins of Templa's Temple, is a large, ominous cave. ((#26 on the map)) The cave is sealed with a powerful magic barrier that no living creature can breech. The closer a Pae'il gets to this cave, the more uneasy they will feel, with a heightened sense of fear and despair. No one knows what is in that cave, but it has to be important for someone to go through all the trouble of making sure no living creature can enter it.
~.~
"The barrier grows weaker every day. My magic isn't as strong as it should be. I don't know what to do. Ela and I have done everything we can, but I'm afraid it won't be enough." The dark faerie teen stood in front of the pink barrier in front of the tall cave. "If I was at full power, maybe-"
"No, the time isn't right."
Maetharanel (Thara) signed and kicked at the dirt at her feet. "What else can be done, then?"
"I'll lend you some of my power, but no one is know about my involvement. Not yet." the tall, cloaked figure spoke in hushed tones. She raised her hands, the cloak slipping down her arms revealing tan fur. Her hands glowed green and then vines and leaves started snaking over the barrier, slowly covering the barrier with lush vegetation, but not entirely. "That's the best I can do right now. Care for the earth, or the vines will wither."
The teenage fae bowed her head. "Thank you, Earthmother."
"Shh! There are ears all over this forest. Be careful."
"Apologies. I'll let Ela know of your help, and to keep it secret." Thara lifted her head and approached the barrier, gently taking one of the large palm leaves in her hand. "How long do we have to do this for?" she asked, thinking out loud, not really seeking an answer.
"Until we have to. Telrunya will let us know when our duties are fulfilled. You should know that."
"I know," Thara huffed. She did know, but she was also speaking as a little prayer to Telrunya, hoping for different answers. The fae was tired of the waiting game, wishing for action some days. But most days, she knew the silent calm was a good thing, because the action she sometimes desired would bring severe consequences.
~.~
Back in Telrunya City, during a chapel class with the squires, Knight Lord Andrei burst into the sanctuary, interrupting the spiritual lesson being taught by Highness Aisa, the healing trainer. "They've found it! Aisa, the scouts have found it!"
Aisa grew excited. This was it. The first real test for her pupils. The reason for all of their training. "Squires, the Guardians have been searching for a special hiding place of the Elemental Pae'il for some time. They finally found the location of what they believe to be the secret weapon of our enemies."
"And your first duty to prove yourself to The Guardians will be to infiltrate this cave. We need information on what is inside. You are still young, and not quite strong enough to take on whatever may lurk in that cave, so you must be careful." Andrei explained in such an excited manner, you'd think he was going to accompany the squires.
"Be sure to utilize everything that you have been taught in Magic and Fighting class, should you encounter those who seek to stop you. And be mindful of your healing spells, because if you over use them, they will drain your energy so fast, you won't be able to defend yourself." Aisa said, trying to make a learning lesson for healing class out of this information.
"And don't forget your Knight code should you encounter the locals. You serve the Light first, which means you ensure the safety of your fellow Angels and Demons. You should be smart, faithful and brave for this mission. Pick up some armor in the armory before heading to land. Hania will lead you to the cave.
(( Squires, your job is to investigate the cave and attempt to enter. You will be met with opposition. You will also not be able to actually break the magical barrier, but you should continue trying. Interrogate any Pae'il who may show up, or be at the cave, if they will let you.
All Pae'il: Trouble is going down at the ominous cave. Do you go see what's going on? Do you decide to help one side or the other? Please have your Pae'il react naturally, and not as if they already know what's going to happen. We will be looking for candidates to become Hallowed Pae'il with this RP. Specifically we're looking for creative RP that follows the rules of the setting, displays initiative, and creates a role/topic/path that we can put that Pae on for becoming a Luminary. ))

Genesis frowned as her concentration was broken by shouting. She had been meticulously working on her notes for the spiritual lesson and now their was a giant ink splotch consuming a good portion of her paper. Despite her frustrations with her now-ruined notes, she listened in with full attention as Aisa began speaking. The more that was unveiled, the more excited Genesis became. The Guardians accomplishing one of their goals could only be good news. Better yet, this was Genesis' chance to prove herself to them. A look of determination came over Genesis' face, she more ready for this then she ever had felt, she had already had chances to prove herself to... herself. Now, she could show the Guardians what a loyal defender she was. Once dismissed, Genesis stood straight up and made way for the armory as quick as possible. The teen picked out the simplest armor, deciding that if she dressed for full battle she might look too conspicuous and she wasn't entirely sure what to expect from this cave. Genesis took a moment to meditate and calm her nerves, she felt strangely excited. Once she felt at peace she made her way to Hania to meet up with the rest of her peers.

Harveer wasn't too disturbed when the anxious fairy floated in his face. Mostly he was disturbed when he realized that he was sitting inactive while he should be getting ready to fulfill one of the goals the guardians needed them for. He waited for Aisa to finish speaking before he bowed and ran out of his quarters.
His first stop was to get armor. The male carefully selected light but sturdy armor, not sure what to expect. If nothing else, he could say he was hunting a bear or something. Harveer grinned, going to wait for the rest of the squires to show. They wouldn't br long right?
It took the blue angel a moment to realize he wasn't the first there. Genesis had beat him to it. Damn. "Hey!" He waved, smiling wide. He was liking this angel more and more.

Elda stood silently and packed her books. She cared nothing for the classroom or those who struggled to finish taking class notes. Pointless, the lot of it was in the long scheme of things. Elda knew her only purpose was to die; really, there were few who would not share that distinction. Her life was merely a slow winding down of time. After stashing her books in her desk, she headed to get her weapons. She would stay with the group for now, possibly use some of the weaker ones for cannon fodder.

Lailah sat up straighter at the news, instantly alert after previously having started to doze off with the theory being covered in class. Not her favorite method of learning. Secret weapon? Cave of the heathens? Finally! A chance to make up for that disaster in the marshes. A chance to prove that she was more than capable, to make use of the skills she'd been taught, to spread the Light in the name of the Guardians!
A little too eagerly, she packed up and raced towards the armory. She wasn't one for heavy armor, but she wanted to pick up a few things aside from her weapons before heading out. She preferred to keep things light, nothing weighing her down or restricting her movement. After strapping her daggers to her thigh, she grabbed some light bracers for her arms, mostly leather, braced with lightweight metal. She preferred fighting up close and personal, and if it came to it, she needed to be able to strike quickly and block retaliation before she could escape again. No lucky hits getting through.
The Grand Master would be going with them too! Her heart felt like it would soar from her chest. Not only a chance to prove her worth to the Guardians, but also in the eyes of the trainer she most respected. Perhaps he'd see her superiority, take her aside for special advanced training...
She was getting ahead of herself. Mission first. Lailah kept her armor choices few, and what she did take was either leather or light mail, nothing heavy or cumbersome. Now...off to meet with Grand Master Hania.***** Eligor had listened carefully to their instructions, and nodded curtly to show he understood as the rest started filtering out of the room at varying speeds. Some bolted like mad beasts, some slower about packing up their things first. He was careful with his scrolls and quills, then headed off to the armory like the rest.
There, he picked little from the weapons category; they had magical options when it came to it, and he preferred those to lugging around physical ones all over creation. However, he did select a magical staff, a small crystal set in the top. If he remembered, such staffs were useful for focusing one's magical abilities and concentration in times of distraction. Besides, it appeared more natural to be out walking with a staff than a sword or other weapons. He wasn't looking for a fight here. They were doing reconnaissance, possibly more of the Guardians' work. Not waging a war.
Once finished with his preparations, Eligor glanced around the armory, looking for a particular Squire among the rest. She'd proven an amiable companion on these trips, and besides, it wasn't right to leave her to fend for herself. Not that she couldn't; it just wasn't polite to leave a lady and he wasn't sure if anyone else would have thought to escort her with the thought of the mission on their minds. Patiently, Eligor waited for the one-winged angel, ready to travel with her via the teleporter while the rest flew to the Isle below.

The wind whipped past the angel's feathers, despite the basket hanging from her hands slowing her flight. She couldn't help but grin widely, wondering why it'd been so long since she'd last done this. This is why she needed to get out more. The forests around her home were lovely, but there was so much more out there on the Isle, and the only way to see it in any reasonable time was to fly.
And it really was peaceful and lovely up here.
Spotting what seemed to be somewhat familiar landmarks, she began to descend slowly for a better look. Yes, some changes over the seasons, but it seemed to be the same place. Waving one hand to her compatriot in the skies, she signaled that their destination was below and prepared to land.
Coming in a little quickly, Takeko took a few rushed steps to keep her balance, laughing at herself. "I guess you get a little rusty when you haven't done this in a while!" She was laughing like a youngster again, grinning towards the demon as she set the basket down. "Ah, I needed this though," she admitted. "It's been nice to have activity around the house again, but even I need a break sometimes. A nice day trip with a picnic to pick blackberries will sure do the trick. It's such a trip to do alone though. Thanks for coming along, Texas," she commented kindly as her friend joined her.

Katya pulled tight the leather straps that held together her light leather armour, trying to replay in her head what their task was. So busy had she been trying to pack away her near-nonsensical notes (and scattering some on the floor in the process) that some of the mission details had simply been pushed out of her mind. She knew that they would be performing reconnaissance in a cave, which meant that once they entered, her flight skills would likely be less than useless. By this point she had decided on her favorite set of gear, even though she still hadn't quite figured out the whole 'combat' thing. She kept a small knife strapped to her thigh as a sort of utility tool with the added benefit that it might make a handy weapon in a pinch. The armor, light and close-fitting, had questionable coverage but allowed her to fly almost unimpeded at great speed. Her bow hooked in securely to some brass clips on her armour's back, inbetween her tail and her wings- just above that was mounted her quiver, both items set horizontally across the small of her back. The wood and leather quiver was capped to keep the arrows within and she prayed to the Guardians it stayed that way on the mission.
She also prayed that this day would go better than the last time she had strayed very far from the city- in that encounter she had forgotten her bow and been temporarily incapacitated, needing a period of convalescence afterwards. And yet, despite the fact that all the squires would be going on this mission, fully prepared and well-equipped with Master Hania leading the way, she couldn't shake the nerves she had carried over from the debacle in the swamp, and it was all she could do to keep her breathing even as they awaited the command to sortie forth.
It was then she realized that she was still holding in her teeth a white quill that she'd been writing with during Aisa's class. She stuffed it under her gauntlet, hoping nobody noticed how nervous she was as she awaited further orders.

She was almost asleep during the spirituality lesson, but the commotion from the Knight trainer woke Alethea up. It wasn't that she didn't care, but she was just exhausted with all the extra training time she'd been putting in to compensate for not being able to use her wings. She grew nervous and anxious at the news that they were being sent on their first real mission for the Guardians. A smile spread as she considered that maybe this was finally her time to shine, and to prove she really does belong among these strong, smart and devout Pae.
As others did, she packed up her stuff and headed towards the armory. She noticed Eligor there still, and her heart did backflips. Moving quickly, she strapped on the leather chest piece, and chose some of the soft-footed boots since they'd presumably be sneaking around to gather information. But it was a cave? She started wondering if amour selection was going to be part of the test. She noted some cleats hanging on the wall and put them in her sack, just in case they had to do any repelling in the cave. Speaking of, she also grabbed a rope since she couldn't fly. Might be helpful.
Fully prepared, she approached Eligor and smiled. "Did you wait for me?" If he had, oh my Guardians was she going to have to work to keep from squealing.

Eligor's eyes met those that mirrored his own. "Of course. Are you ready, Alethea? We should probably get going, so we don't get left behind." He took up his chosen staff, nodding in the direction of the teleporter before leading the way.
What were they about to head into? The tension and excitement seemed one in the air, and Eligor wasn't entirely sure which of the two he felt more. This would be a trial for them all, that much was plain. How often were they given a specific assignment from the Guardians' themselves? Even if it was just a reconnaissance mission, it was important. They'd all be aiming to do their best, to prove themselves to the Guardians, and show that each had the desire and dedication and skill to fulfill the roles they'd been selected for.
Reaching the teleporter, Eligor waited for Alethea, then offered her his arm before they stepped onto the teleport pad. "Time to go."

Abby blinked, looking around. She was utterly lost. Everything was so pretty though! She grinned, smiling to herself as she continued to wander. It was one of those rare moments she was excited to be out and about. She felt a little bad about leaving Aiolos with their children, but she needed fresh air.
If nothing else, she could at least use the exercise. She'd gained so much weight while Nicky and Venti were still inside her. They'd made her want so much fruit, it'd gotten fattening. She felt so chubby lately and this female did not like it one bit.
Even better, she could fly home now. Thanks to her uncle, Himeros. If it weren't for him, she never would have had the courage to learn again.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Starry stretched, she'd been getting out a lot more lately. With having met Luna randomly in the forests, and then that wonderful meeting with Aulii... She smiled, remembering the time with that strange angel. She hoped to meet him again. He was a very sweet young man.
She looked to her side, grinning at the 'guin as she waddled next to her. "Hey there Akira, do you think up there would be a good place for a picnic?" Starry questioned, looking for the perfect place. She'd never figured out why the 'guin wouldn't speak, but through the years, at least there was a form of communication.
Getting a squawk of approval, Starry continued on, looking for the little clearing she'd noticed a few moments prior.

Barely able to contain herself, she was bouncing on the balls of her feet. Eeee Eligor! Walking behind him towards the teleporter her mind raced with thoughts of her crush, and thoughts of finally proving herself to The Guardians. This was turning out to be the best day ever. She made a mental pact with herself she would not do anything to screw this up and would follow protocol to the letter.
"Ready to do The Guardians work!" she said as a battlecry as she stepped into the teleporter, which whisked them away to the location of Hania and the other squires. She awaited Hania's instruction, eager to do this.

Chapel lessons were boring.
They weren't necessarily because Nephi hated the Guardians! No, he would never think such a horrible thing, and his mind revulsed at even the idea of thinking such a thing, a shudder making it through his body. No, it was that Nephi wanted to go out and get things done. Getting the word of the Guardians out was all he cared about, was all he really needed. He had to show everyone what good the Guardians could do, and what good they were doing. Had anyone seen the wonderful City?
Nephi was tense all over, his body nearly shaking in his eagerness to get out of his seat and do nearly anything else. His patience was capital, especially when it came to true power execution, but when it came to lessons, Nephi had the patience of a gnat. Okay, that wasn't true, sometimes he had the patience of a goldfish.
Unless they were doing something interesting.
Nephi caught the way the mellons immediately started talking excitedly. He heard Aisa tell them that there was a special place of hiding. The Elemental Pae'il were holding a secret weapon? Mm, that wasn't any good. No no. They would have to end that!
As soon as they were given permission, Nephi ran, energy that had been pulsing through his body expelled as he made his way to the armory. Nephi preferred going fast, so he picked some of the lighter armor, adorning himself and smiling in a mirror as he adjusted the helmet on his head just a bit. He cut quite the impressive figure. Would the Elementals even attempt to fight against him? He was ready for it, in any case. For the Guardians, he would do whatever they needed, and certainly, they couldn't let the Elemental Pae'il have anything like that around. Secret weapons. Hrrmph.
Nephi scoffed, making his way to the teleportation pad. This should be fun!

Texas admittedly didn't understand the meaning of the words quiet and house in the same sentence.
Frankly, the house hadn't been quiet since the day he showed up.
Perhaps that was what made it nice to get away. There was only so much noise Texas could take before even he, with patience granted by the Guardians themselves, needed to step back and take some time to himself before he inevitably exploded. Though he liked to pretend the roiling emotions of a demon didn't exist somewhere in him, he knew they did, boiling under the surface until something caused them to release.
Needless to say, Texas rather happily accepted the invitation from Takeko to join her out on a picnic (and to get herself some more berries, of course). He liked the angel anyway, so getting to enjoy the day with her was something of a rather welcomed addition to just the idea of enjoying the nice day. Plus, getting to stretch his wings was pleasant, something he didn't necessarily do much when he was cooped up in the house.
Texas landed alongside Takeko, taking a few running steps to stabilize himself from the momentum he had going in the air. "Your activity stopped?" teased Texas, with a small smirk. "I think something's in the lake's water, because my house's never really slowed down."
Of course, with Magnus, Mikasi, Ignatius, Vangelis, and himself as regular inhabitants of the house, with Criofan, Zaria, Ei-Kal, and Kheliot sometimes showing up... was rather hard to say it could ever be "quiet."
"But it's no problem, really. I can use a break myself, sometimes." He stretched, wings unfolding to their full side before gathering a bit closer to his back. As he pulled his arms over his head, shivering when one of his shoulders made a rather sudden crack sound, Texas' eyes wandered around, taking in the area that Takeko had chosen for them to settle them in. Had she been here often? The area looked relatively uninhabited, really. "You picked a nice area. Where should we set up?"

The angel laughed warmly, shaking her head. "It seems the population and volume level of my household ebbs and flows depending on the seasons," she chuckled. "No sooner than I'm left to myself, then Melek comes home again...and he leaves, about the time Kane and Vika come back to stay for a while..." She shook her head, smiling.
After a cursory glance around the area, she replied, "Thanks. It's been some seasons since I've been up this way, honestly, but there used to be some lovely blackberry bushes in this area, and the winds from the east used to keep it nice and cool here in the summer." Ah, it felt like a lifetime ago, traveling the isle without a care, no place to call home, only herself and the forests. It was a free life...but not the most fulfilling.
The clearing where they'd landed was fine, but it seemed odd to set up here. "Let's see if we can find those bushes, then we'll set up a nice picnic in the shade beneath the trees," she suggested with a smile. Starting to walk, she glanced over at Texas. "Speaking of our households, how has yours been, other than busy? I'm sorry for not checking in sooner, but how did you all fare after the last storm? We had some repairs to do to the house, but no one was hurt, thank the Guardians."

Down on the Isle, at the landing pad for the teleporter, one of the trainer fairies paced in mid-air impatiently. The Squires were appearing one-by-one, but they had little time to be wasting. With the level of importance of this discovery, they had to move quickly before intel changed.
Running through a mental check-list, the Avalon Fairy zipped into the air above the gathering Squires' heads. "Alright, you lot! Prepare to move out! Our destination lies to the north, at the base of the To'ul Mountains. I'll be leading the way. We're a large enough group, we need to stay low and not attract attention to ourselves, but we could use a scout to look ahead. You! Katya!" he pointed at the striped demon female. "You're our eyes in the sky. Let us know what's up ahead, and report back periodically. The rest of you, either stick to the ground, or stay below the treetops if you insist on taking wing. Keep within sight of your fellow Squires, or within shouting distance from me. Remember, this mission is for reconnaissance, so I want no one taking any unnecessary risks. Watch out for each other and remember your training. Alright, any questions? If not, let's move out!"
Hania zipped in a tight circle around the gathered Squires before darting off in the direction indicated, pausing long enough to see that they followed before continuing to lead the way.
